i know people are going to say that this has been discussed alot but im afraid people STILL take Sikhi and Amrit as a joke. Ill be short and to the point. A close friend of mine is bad. Shes amritdhari and does very bad stuff

Im shocked at the amount of entertainment amrittaaris get from gosipping and trying to hook their friend with some next kala that im not even interested in. Gosh!

You have got some very good advice from the Sangat above but I just wanted to emphasise what jpsingh2 bhaji said. Please think carefully about how you say things.

Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee themselves got down on their knees to ask for Amrit. The Panj Pyares who had given their heads for Amrit asked Guru Jee, we have given our heads, what will you give? Guru Jee gave bachan he would sacrifice his entire family/lineage for Amrit. Nobody takes Amrit as a joke. But Gurbani tells us that 'this path is sharper than the edge of a sword and finer than a strand of hair' and also tells us that 'only Guru Jee and Vaheguru are without fault'. If somebody waivers from the Path and/or does wrong then by all means say this person did this or that but please, just my humble beanti, do not tarnish Guru Jees Amrit by saying an Amritdhari did this or did that etc.

  2. Any petition needs to be thought through and worded very carefully. As we saw with the Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana petition, the original petition started by somebody which started getting lots of petitions was stopped and another one written up which was worded in a more through legally thought out way.

I have not heard anything yet regarding this from Sikh Council UK, or Kesri Lehar or any other UK organisation and I think however well intentioned, all UK Panthic projects should be undertaken after talks and advice from the UK Sikh representative body, the 'Sikh Council UK'. Most organisations including 'Kesri Lehar' mentioned above are all members and they all work in collaboration in such projects using expertise from various organisations.

  3. I think some people may just joke about you being left handed as it is not the 'norm' but it does not matter

Just think how lucky are you tomorrow that Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee are coming to your house and blessing you with Seva. Whether you use your right hand or left hand does not matter.

  4. Looks amazing, the Vishraams /extra translations etc - Love it! Love the detailed instructions/details on your website too.

I always used to use the iGurbani online app but search stopped working for me recently so i'm back to using Gurbani Anywhere. Much prefer the layout, style and options of iGurbani though.

Really look forward to it coming out. Paid or free, it's defo one i'm getting :)

    Great Seva... Maharaj Kirpa Karey!

We are very sorry if you feel there has been a drop of quality with your latest order. We are however using mostly the same suppliers we did when we started and some items such as the Kanga are from our original bulk purchases from when we started up. Every time we order more stock, we ask our partner in Amritsar to try and find even better quality items then we had before and we have never focused on price. A prime example of this is some Gatras we received once, we were slightly unhappy with the quality after using them personally as they got 'burr' on them very quick. Because of this we did not sell them them and we have a box full lying to one side.

We started www.SikhiStore.com out of a need we had ourselves in finding Sikhi Items and I can assure you that we still do and always will focus on quality and prompt customer service. This is about offering a great service and not about making money. In fact since we have started, not a single penny profit has been taken out, nobody is paid for the work and all money has gone back into more stock and more variety of items.

We have had a lot of advice from the Sangat in the past and none of it goes unheard. We are always happy to hear it and we do our best to act upon it. We want every Bhaji/Bhenji who uses SikhiStore to be 100% satisfied :)

  6. If you are after high quality every day Kirpans/Sri Sahibs see the 7", 9" and 12" ones we have on our website. These Sarbloh Sri Sahib have been custom made in Sabrawah and we've made sure they are amongst the best you can get. The casing on them is flush and polished so there is almost no bumps and ridges on the outside between the metal work and the wood, which often catch in your clothes and the Sri Sahib itself is fairly sharp to begin with.

  7. Will the 25 akhand parts be held at the same time?

I'm quite sure it is 25 Singhs doing Akhand Paath Seva rather than 25 Akhand Paaths. Have heard before that orginally 25 Singhs would do Akhand Path seva.

5 Singhs would rotate and do Seva of reading from Maharaj

5 Singhs would rotate and do Seva of Chaur Sahib

5 Singhs would rotate and do Seva of Degh

5 Singhs would rotate and do Seva of Langar

5 Singhs would rotate and do Rakhi (keep watch)

I think that's how the 25 breaks down.

  8. Totally Agree PAL07 with both points 1 & 2 (especially 2!)...

Ours is the Gurjeet SIngh & Harvir Kaur video above. We tried to keep it as simple, as close to how we think it should be done in lines of Gurmat and the main emphasis being the Laavan and Maharaj. We wore simple clothes, managed to avoid the rituals (maiyan, waving milk etc), used our own cars etc.

The Divaan involved Kirtani, somebody talking in Punjabi & English throughout giving explanation of what is being done and why. Seperate Katha in English and Punjabi after and then followed by a Kaveeshri Jatha and Langar at the Gurdwara.
