  1. Jagjeet ji- But due to Daylight Saving, what is actually 2am-6am is now 3am to 7am (and 2am-6am DST is actually 1am-5am) so if come out of meditation by 6am DST, I'm missing a whole hour of amrit vela, plus nature starts vibrating because people are waking up and moving about due to the change in clock.

When guru ji says 4th pher of the night- did they use 24 hour/60 minute system to measure hours? Some older cultures have had varying hours so the "hour" is longer at different times of the year, to account for differences in daylight hours.

Lion ji- for my practice, amrit vela feels best after 3am.

waheguru ja khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

Singh that's cool. Just remember that the 4th pher of the night is 3 hours before sunrise, apply that and go for it.

  2. Guys I was talking to another Singh about this and his perception of all this is a bit different. He goes that Darshana is being clever as he used to do the Keertan & Katha of Dasam Banee and then suddenly changed, I asked this Singh why did he change? He thinks that Darshana came up with a plan so that people will start to research Dasam Bani themselves, he calls him a genius lol....

  3. I always make that mistake! Sorry Bhenjee, dass noo bakhsha de lol. Plans for taking amrit? Stick to my nitnem, learn about Rehat Maryada & get all the Kakkars. With Guru Jee's kirpa there's a Amrit Sanchaar on Saturday 13th April where I will take Amrit. :excited:

  4. Wow that is amazing! Well what I'd say is look through interesting topics on here for a start, check out SikhiWiki it's like Wikipedia but for Sikhism. Also there's amazing lectures on Sikhism on youtube i.e. Basics of Sikhi, Bhai Vijay Singh, Bhai Manvir Singh Khalsa, Bhai Rajinder Singh & Bhai Jagjeet Singh. As for how to approach people i'd say just go for it and ask questions, everyone is welcome in the Gurdwara regardless of race, caste, creed, status etc. Hope this helps & Good Luck! :biggrin2:

  5. Depression is under-estimated, I had a lecture on depression yesterday and there are two types of depression. The first type is associated with a particular situation or event. The other one is a long-term depression which could stem from loneliness, isolation, being a outcast from a social circle of friends, the mind being unstable and personality clashes so on. I have suffered from a few cases of depression who hasn't? Like now am stressed because I have a Essay due in tomorrow which am nowhere near finished and it becomes associated with depression because you don't have that support or uplift your mind and soul needs but it's more stress than depression. Solutions.....well what I would say is a routine is the first step to a solution. We should have a routine of being exposed to friends, social interactions and have a routine for meditation which will balance the mind. It's all in the mind so the mind creates such a situation that you feel imprisoned and look at everything negatively. That's just my input. :happy2:

  6. I used to be mona, cut my Kesh, shave and ate meat in 2011. At the time of the Shaheedi of Sahibzade listening to the Katha on Sikh Channel really affected me deep and I questioned myself "they made such a sacrifice at such a young age and am just worthless and lost". From then on 26/12/11 I left meat completley, and start growing my Kesh. Issues which I came across was Dandruff mainly which I kept under control with different types of oils.
