Guru Sahib is telling us the wealth of Naam is within us, but we do not find even a tiny bit of its mystery. bhubhaa bhurum mittaavuhu apunaa BHABHA: Cast out your doubt and delusion eiaa sunsaar sugul hai supunaa this world is just a dream. bhurumae sur nur dhaevee dhaevaa The angelic beings, goddesses and gods are deluded by doubt. bhurumae sidh saadhik brehumaevaa The Siddhas and seekers, and even Brahma are deluded by doubt. bhuram bhuram maanukh ddehukaaeae Wandering around, deluded by doubt, people are ruined. dhuthur mehaa bikhum eih maaeae It is so very difficult and treacherous to cross over this ocean of Maya. gurumukh bhrum bhai moh mittaaeiaa That Gurmukh who has eradicated doubt, fear and attachment, naanuk thaeh purum sukh paaeiaa O Nanak, obtains supreme peace. 40 Guru Sahib tells us in this Shabad, why are we wasting our time this World is just a mere dream nothing here really exists we are the ones who have caused pleasure and delight to exist through the evil of delusion and doubt. Doubt is only eradicated through Athai Pehar Naam Abhiyaas (24,7 Simran), which will create great faith in our hearts for Guru Sahib and God. The angelic beings, 'Gods', 'Goddesses', Siddhs, Seekers and even Brahma were deluded by doubt because they had no Pooran (pure) Guru who could pass over the teachings of Naam and give them Naam. Whatever we see shall pass away, it is like a dream in the night, we have forgotten the Lords Name Vahiguroo, we think we will live forever. Life is an experience we are here to become one with the Lord and experience hell on Earth, this Hell we can very easily turn in to Heaven through constant loving devotion of the Lords Name, which in turn will bring, peace, happiness, contentment and love. The Hell we are living in is a mere state of mind, the mind can very easily dwell in the age of Satjug (age of truth), only through Athai Pehar (24,7) loving devotion of Guru Sahibs beautiful Name. We have to live in this World in a way as if it does not exist, nothing should affect a God-conscious being, as the Gurmukh will always be aware I am not in control, there is a higher power (Vaahiguroo), which helps us accept Guru Sahibs will and makes our minds very much stronger, content and peaceful. We have to live but die to this materialistic world, only in this way will we find true inner peace and be accepted in the court of the Lord. Guru Sahib is slapping us in the face with this Shabad, saying without Naam everything is reduced to dust, even so we are stuck in emotional attachment to the world and its pleasures. Guru Sahib then goes on to say we should vibrate on the Lords Name night and day, and at the very last instant God shall be our support. Dhann Guru Teghbahadur Jee. What does Guru Sahib mean when he says living life is like a dream? How long do dreams last? Not long at all, cannot really put a time to it. This is exactly the same situation with our lives, before we know it we’ve come and gone. What worldly pleasures have we achieved? WOW HOW EXCITING. Lets ask ourselves one question, what have we done for the Panth? The least we can do for the Panth is become Atha Pehar Naam Abhiyaasee, as Guru Sahib has commanded us to do so in Gurbaanee. This is the true Parchaar (preaching), our presence given to us by Guru Sahib through the blessing of Naam will be the largest Sevaa (service) we will ever do for the Panth. Only this will lead to the Chardi kallaa of the Panth. What do we say? Its ok we will take Ammrit later, we will keep Rehit when we get a little bit older, we will Japna Naam, there’s plenty of time yet, we still need to do more Vichaar on Naam before we Japnaa it. How much Vichaar (discussion) do we need to do on Naam, its only an excuse not to Jap it and get into a little social circle with other Gursikhs. The true Gurmukh will speak very little and keep himself to himself. He knows there’s no talking to do on Naam, one needs to start and just no stop, and leave all experiences to Guru Sahib, this is when we feel the real contentment, we feel like wealthy Kings and Warriors with the profit of Naam along side us, pushing us through Girastee Jeevan (a householders life). Why are we wasting time in Worldly pleasures and desires, come in to the Sangat and realize the true Love given to us by Naam Abhiyaasee Gurmukhs, this love is genuine and unconditional something we have never experienced before. Please attend as many Keertan and Naam Abhiyaas programmes as we possibly can to spread the love of Naam in to the World. This will only come through Kamaaee (profit) of Naam and Baanee, to keep this Kamaaee close to the Heart one has to protect this through Guru Sahibs Rehit and Ammrit. Nothing is as powerful as the Universes largest power of Naam, blessed to us by Guru Sahib to purify our filthy minds, which in turn purifies the Universe. Vaahiguroo Life’s a dream and we are wasting it by physically and subconsciously sleeping. When we are not aware of our subconscious mind, in Gurbaanee it is known as sleeping. When will we rise and wake up from this dream? The only time we will wake up from this dream in the eyes of Guru Sahib is, when we sell our mind to Guru Sahib through his name and his Rehit, this Gurmukh will then be known as Jagyaasoo (awake/a state of realization). Only through selling our mind to Guru Sahib will we ever be Parvaan (accepted) in Guru Sahibs court, nothing else will even get us close to the court of Guru Sahib, as all is known to be false without the company of Naam.

  9. http://singh.sikhsoul.com/archives/jan07.html# A funny game Monday 01 January 2007 Guru Sahib has given this manukha jeevan (human life). Some ask what is this life about? Why did God create us? Why do bad things happen to good people? This is all part of the wonderful game designed by Waheguru Himself. When Waheguru jee first created the world there was no Maya. This is why everyone got liberated very easily. When the world was created Brahma’s son was sent on it along with other Sadhoos. All they did was Bhagti and therefore got liberated when they died. This is when Maya was created to really test humans as they are born on to this Earth. bRhmw ibsnu mhysu aupwey mwieAw mohu vDwiedw ]14] He created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva; He fostered enticement and attachment to Maya. ||14| Gurbani mentions this game: kwmu k®oDu loBu mohu jIqhu AYsI Kyl hir ipAwrI ]2] Conquer sexual desire, anger, greed and worldly attachment; only such a game as this is dear to the Lord. ||2|| Only they are dear to Waheguru who conquer the five thieves. This is the game of life, to know your self, and realise where you are from and where you are going. This realisation takes lifetimes. Once this realisation comes one then begins to play the game of life. Life You are all probably wondering why Daas has called the title of this article ‘A funny game.’ The reason for this is because daas thinks this game is not funny in the sense that it is a joke. Daas says it is funny but means it is strange and mysterious. Isn’t it strange how some know of this game of life whilst others are completely wasting their time? Yet these are the people who are the first to blame Waheguru when a terrible event occurs. The reason for this is because of their bad fates. Without doing good deeds they have wasted their time on this world and have not realised the game of life. They have become very far and detached from Waheguru. Awp kmwxY ivCuVI dosu n kwhU dyx ] My own evil actions have kept me separate from Him; why should I accuse anyone else? When one does a bad deed one thinks they can hide it. This maybe true on a worldly level, one might be able to hide it from people around them but there isn’t a single way one can hide doing bad deeds in front of Waheguru. When one does a bad deed it is written down by the Chiter Gupt, the recording angels. icqR gupqu sB ilKqy lyKw ] Chitra and Gupat, the recording angels of the conscious and the unconscious, write the accounts of all mortal beings This is all part of the game of life. We receive benefits and punishments as we do deeds. Doing bad deeds we get punishments, doing good deeds we receive the true fruits of life. One thing to keep in mind is that a Gursikh who stays in the will of Waheguru will receive these punishments and benefits in a short amount of time. So if a Gursikh does a mistake Waheguru jee will make that Gursikh realise the mistake very quickly by giving a punishment. This is the very good fate of a Gursikh because for a person who follows his mind and not the Guru, when they do bad deeds Waheguru jee makes them realise their mistake in other life times or even in the same lifetime but when the mortal is much older. This due to there own fate and doing bad deeds. Humility Humility is another part of the game of life. Apa Arpan (getting rid of ego) can only be done if one has humility; this humility only comes through Naam Japna and selfless-seva. But daas wanted to talk about why this is a very strange part of life. When one goes to the Gurdwara and has in mind that they will do cleaning of shoes; this makes their mind very low. When one performs the seva, ones mind is filled with humility and one starts to think they are the dust of every ones’ feet. But as soon as that person gets up ones mind gets corrupted because as soon as one gets up ones mind says ‘I cleaned sangats’ shoes today.’ In this state of egoism one looses more then one gained or looses more then they even started with. Daas thinks this is a very strange part of life. The questions arises on how can one attain humility if ones mind only gets ego from it. The answer is given in the Gurbani tuk below. gur kY igRih syvku jo rhY ] That selfless servant, who lives in the Guru's household, gur kI AwigAw mn mih shY ] is to obey the Guru's Commands with all his mind. Awps kau kir kCu n jnwvY ] He is not to call attention to himself in any way. hir hir nwmu irdY sd iDAwvY ] He is to meditate constantly within his heart on the Name of the Lord. mnu bycY siqgur kY pwis ] One who sells his mind to the True Guru iqsu syvk ky kwrj rwis ] - that humble servant's affairs are resolved. syvw krq hoie inhkwmI ] One who performs selfless service, without thought of reward, iqs kau hoq prwpiq suAwmI ] shall attain his Lord and Master. ApnI ik®pw ijsu Awip kryie ] He Himself grants His Grace; nwnk so syvku gur kI miq lyie ]2] O Nanak, that selfless servant lives the Guru's Teachings. ||2|| One has to read the above Shabad with a lot of focus to realise what Guru Sahib is saying here. Guru Sahib is saying if you want to do seva, then do it without calling attention to ones self; so people will think you are lower or more of a Gursikh. If one wants to do seva then one must focus there mind entirely to Waheguru Gurmantar. One must remember Waheguru in their heart and remember who they are doing seva for. But important of all it says in the 7th tuk of that pauRi to do seva without a though of reward. In this way one attains the supreme blessing of Wahegurus Darshan. This is a very hard concept to attain but is the only way ones seva will be safal (complete). siqgur kI syvw sPlu hY jy ko kry icqu lwie ] Service to the True Guru is fruitful and rewarding, if one performs it with his mind focused on it. One must have pure focus on Naam when doing seva of any kind and remember not to have any wishes for doing the seva. Daas remembers when Guru Sahib blessed Daas and another Gursikh with a seva which is seemed to be very low and dirty seva but for Gursikhs seems like bathing in gold. After Daas and this Gursikh performed the seva we didn’t have any desires in our minds nor did we have any rewards we wanted, but still Guru Sahib blessed us with a massive reward. Guru Sahib blessed this Gursikh with Panj Piyare dee seva and daas with an amazing Resnbhai experience. All night the resnbhai felt like bliss. When the Naam Raseeiya Gursikhs who done the panj dee seva came out Daas couldn’t stop crying to them because Guru Sahib had been so merciful. This is the power of selfless-seva. The five thieves Conquering these five thieves is the game Guru Sahib likes his Gursikhs to play. Guru Sahib wants to see who are the Soormay (warriors) in this world who would battle the five toughest Mahabalis (warriors) known. Only through continuous Naam Abhiyaas through out ones jeevan can one defeat these Mahabalis. And forgetting Naam even for a second is the danger zone in which you let go of your shield and Shastar (weapon). As soon as you let go of Naam your mind will feel vulnerable and you will feel open to these warriors to attack you. hy Aijq sUr sMgRwmM Aiq blnw bhu mrdnh ] O emotional attachment, you are the invincible warrior of the battlefield of life; you totally crush and destroy even the most powerful. gx gMDrb dyv mwnuK´M psu pMKI ibmohnh ] You entice and fascinate even the heavenly heralds, celestial singers, gods, mortals, beasts and birds. To daas even this game seems strange. When one walks around thinking they have beat the five thieves of the body that’s when they have lost because that’s when ego has hit them. When we keep even simple rehit, and do Naam Japna at Amritvela and start to make a jeevan, one can easily control the first four of the five thieves. Ego being the last stays in ones jeevan until one has realised that He is me and I am Him, meaning when God becomes you and you become God. When one controls the other four one starts to get ego that they have beaten all of the five thieves. Ego is a very powerful warrior of life in which to realise you have it may take lifetimes, and then when realised even then it will be hard to get rid of it. Guru Sahib has described to us how to defeat this warrior: haumY dIrG rogu hY dwrU BI iesu mwih ] Ego is a chronic disease, but it contains its own cure as well. ikrpw kry jy AwpxI qw gur kw sbdu kmwih ] If the Lord grants His Grace, one acts according to the Teachings of the Guru's Shabad. Guru Sahib has given us Naam to defeat this warrior. Guru Sahib has also classed this warrior as a disease. Only through continuous Naam Abhiyaas can we defeat these warriors. This can only happen if Guru Sahib wills it to happen. We need to learn how to ask Guru Sahib for a Naam Raseeiya Jeevan. We need to ask Guru Sahib for a jeevan in which we can remember his name everything single breathe. In this way there will be no day, no night, no hour, no second for us. Our whole life will revolve around Naam and our next breath. In this state of love we wouldn’t even want to waste one breath without Naam.

Only after reaching this state can someone be a par-upkaari (person dedicated to help others). Those whose spiritual state, through the power of meditation and baani, becomes such that it is beyond the body; those who make their jeevan rise above the self with spiritual power; those who are intoxicated with naam ras and have transcended their body and whose personal bhagti kamaiee is such that: ਕਬੀਰ ਤੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂ ਹੂਆ ਮੁਝ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਾ ਨ ਹੂੰ ॥ ਜਬ ਆਪਾ ਪਰ ਕਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਜਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਤੂ ॥੨੦੪॥The meaning of the above vaak applies to them; those in whose every pore chardi kala bir ras is rising in waves, only that person can be a par-upkaari. The meaning of having this bir ras for par-upkaar is that if in front of them there are atrocities being inflicted on the weak, dharma is being insulted, injustice and tyranny are happening, they will have the instinct to protect the weak and defend the faith. But in this instinct, there is not even a trace of enemity or anger or ego. This instinct is the desire to sacrifice the body, mind, wealth and everything else. Only then can we know that true bir ras for par-upkaar has been born. As this bir ras works inside, the naam khanda begins to vibrate with double the intensity. Inside this naam khanda is beating and outside, the sarblohi khanda is moving and destroying the tyrants and opposition. The internal connection to naam is not broken for even an instant: this is the mark of a bir-ras coloured par-upkaari warrior. Sri Dashmesh jee says the following about this avastha: The par-upkaari warrior has no fear of death and doesn’t care about dying. He is not afraid of an army of hundreds of thousands facing him. He is jeevan mukat and those whom he dispatches with his sword, he gives them the sherbet of shahidi and makes them immortal. He then himself becomes a shahid. No one dies by his hand, instead, those who become a sacrifice for his Sri Sahib become immortal. It is for this reason that whenever any soldier in the opposing army was pierced by Sri Dashmesh jee’s arrow he would say “vah vah” and go into bliss, regardless of if he was Hindu or Muslim. Tasting the shahidi ras of Baba Deep Singh jee’s khanda, even those hearts burnt by hatred and enmity became cool and calm. Shahid Baba Deep Singh’s head was separated from his body, but the smiling and glowing face with its calmness remained unchanged. Having completed this game of sacrifice Baba jee’s head rested on his left hand and watching the Hola of Shahidi around him. The headless body was still swinging the khanda and dispatching hundreds to death. No! No! Giving them a taste of shahidi sherbet! News of this is spreading far and wide and as a result the enemy army is scattering like ants in an instant. History is witness to this and Baba jee’s name will remain for ages to come. This is one example of the warrior spirit of the Guru-ghar’s par-upkaar incarnate servants. This example is enough to demonstrate the bir-rasi parupkari’s shaant ras (calm) avastha. This is the ideal of the bir-ras and shaant-ras Gurmat parupkar. The meaning of this is that only those beloved Gurmukhs who rise above the body, walk with their head on their palm, with unbreakable connections (to naam) can become parupkaari bir-rasi bibekis whose connection is so solid that even under unspeakable torture it will not break and their glowing foreheads and internal shaant ras remain unchanged. What power is it that kept warriors like Bhai Taru Singh, the embodiment of shaant ras, completely unmoved as his scalp was being removed? What power was it that kept beloved Bhai Vir Singh Naurangabad unmoving like a mountain, in smaadhi , as cannons boomed around him? What divine power was it that kept Bhai Mati Das, as he was being sawin alive, and Bhai Dayala jee in the boiling pot from feeling any pain? Which miraculous power was it that kept Bhai Mani Singh as he was being cut piece by piece, and Bhai Subeg Singh being broken on the wheel from even thinking of uttering a cry? It was only that solid connection to naam maha-ras. This is the enjoyment of supreme bliss. This is the state of chardi kala soorbirta. This is the true peace of treating pain and pleasure as the same. This is the high state of spiritual colours. This is the fearless state born from the true love and fear (of Vahiguru). Without attaining this very state, true bir ras and the spirit of par-upkaar born from this are impossible. Here (in this state), bir ras and shaant ras are indistinguishable. This is the philosophy of Kalgidhar Paatshaah’s Sarblohi Khanda, which Buddhists, Jains and Ahimsa-followers are unable to understand.

  18. Google Earth maps atrocities in Darfur 10 Apr 2007 21:52:00 GMT Source: Reuters http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N10439052.htm WASHINGTON, April 10 (Reuters) - Search engine Google and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum launched an online mapping project on Tuesday to provide what the museum said was evidence of atrocities committed in Sudan's western Darfur region. More than 200,000 people have been killed in Darfur since 2003 and some of this carnage -- which the United States calls the first genocide of this century -- has been detailed by Google Earth, the search engine's mapping service (http://earth.google.com). Using high-resolution imagery, users can zoom into Darfur to view more than 1,600 damaged or destroyed villages, providing what the Holocaust Museum says is evidence of the genocide. Sudan's government denies that genocide is taking place. In addition, the remnants of more than 100,000 homes, schools, mosques and other structures destroyed by janjaweed militia in Darfur, Sudanese forces and others are visible. "When it comes to responding to genocide, the world's record is terrible. We hope this important initiative with Google will make it that much harder for the world to ignore those who need us the most," said Holocaust Museum director Sara Bloomfield in a statement. "Crisis in Darfur" is the first of the museum's "Genocide Prevention Mapping Initiative" that is aimed at providing information on potential genocides early on in the hope that governments and others can act quickly to prevent them. "At Google, we believe technology can be a catalyst for education and action," Elliot Schrage, Google's vice president, said in a statement. Sources for the project included the U.S. State Department, nongovernmental organizations, the United Nations and individual photographers as well as the Holocaust Museum, which is based in Washington.
