  1. Man, post a line where Bhagat Singh told Bhai Randhir singh he wanted to take amrit. If you read their conversation, all they talk about is God. Bhagat Singh didn't believe in God until Randhir Singh visited him.
  2. What girl are you talking about? Anyway, it is obvious that you didn't read my post about why I didn't leave this website just yet. Like I said before, the term "mona" applies to those who are born in Sikh families, but cut their hair. If a Keshdahri drinks and/or commit evil deeds, does that make him/her a keshdhari? I don't understand why you FOB's are making this a big deal about this "anakh" issue. Is it just me or is this person could possibility be the same person who I was debating with in this thread before the person leaving this website? Just look how their write their posts. Very similar style.
  3. Well to be honest with y'all, who really watches CBC here? :umm: Only thing I like about CBC is the soccer coverage.
  4. I already wrote my little comment on that website. :umm:
  5. CBC is at it again. :umm: I can't believe our tax money goes to that station. :umm: I can't believe how bias CBC is. Down with CBC!
  6. Whoa! There is nothing wrong about taking pride of your heritage as long you're not looking down on others. Brother, in my life (and I'm guessing I am a fair few years older than you), I have seen nothing tear up Sikhs internally more than this "pride". From people treating others in a way (zulmi) that would make a cruel Bahman blush, to physical fights for no reason. To the inability of SIkhs from different backgrounds to get together and unite against common threats whilst people laugh in our boothees taking the worst liberties. How could I ever do anything but condemn this in light of these experiences. Another thing I find (in the UK at least) is that the stereotypes (that's what i think they have become) about one group and another are turned on their heads. So particular characteristics that certain groups are supposed to have are blatantly not true. So you can find people who are supposedly Jats who sell Sikhi the eff out in everyway, and are big cowards and others who are supposedly inferior fighters being able to knock out guys left right and centre better than most. Conversely there are Jats (who are alledgedly <banned word filter activated>) doing really well academically. OK, be proud of our heritage and past but why doesn't ANYONE ever talk about the future and what we need to do to progress in this modern globalised world? The only thing we have in common is a common spiritual father who exalted us all and taught us insaaniyat (humanity). Once we lose this we just regress as a community in this modern day and age and look like a bunch of backward weirdo mumbo jumbo merchants from a dirty backward country. Apologies - no offence intended to anyone. Speak from the heart - Those who appreciate truthfulness will appreciate, even if they don't agree. The only internal issue I see that tears up the Sikh community is this whole "only amritdhari are Sikhs" issue. Here in Canada, there isn't a problem when comes to this jatt issue, but then again, 80%-95% of sikhs living in Canada are Jatts.
  7. Whoa! There is nothing wrong about taking pride of your heritage as long you're not looking down on others. tru story ^^^ u well remind me of my bruva - he's a Jatt fanatic - i think its u or is it that otha Bhaji on here....confusssed noooww :umm: I am NOT a jatt fanatic, it is just I don't see anything wrong with someone taking pride of his/her heritage.
  8. How... Jazzy B == Jatt.. he sports a khanda..and todays generation believe in what they see ... so Jazzy B represents Sikh Pride/Jatt Pride/Khanda Pride. No!! A Khanda is Sikh pride thing. All Sikhs use it as their symbol not just Jats. This post was really silly. Most of the younguns in my family wear gold Khanda necklaces. Are you a Jatt? loll i'll bet u £5.77 that u won't get a answer without bein lectured lol no offence!!! :umm: You're right. :umm: Anyway, Jatt isn't a caste! I just wish people here don't tie Jatt with the caste system. "The Jat's spirit of freedom and equality refused to submit to Brahmanical Hinduism and in its turn drew the censure of the privileged Brahmins of the Gangetic plains who pronounced that "no Aryan should stay in the Punjab for even two days" because the Punjabis refused to obey the priests. The upper caste Hindu's denigration of the Jat did not in the least lower the Jat in his own eyes nor elevates the Brahmin or the Kshatriya in the Jat's estimation. On the contrary, he assumed a somewhat condescending attitude towards the Brahmin, whom he considered little better than a soothsayer or a beggar, or the Kshatriya, who disdained earning an honest living and was proud of being a mercenary. The Jat was born the worker and the warrior. He tilled his land with his sword girded round his waist. He fought more battles for the defence of his homestead than the Kshatriya, for unlike the martial Kshatriya the Jat seldom feld from his village when the invaders came. And if the Jat was maltreated or if his women were molested by the conqueror on his way to Hindustan, he settled his score by looting the invaders' caravans on their return journey and freeing the women he was taking back. The Punjabi Jat developed an attitude of indifference to worldly possessions and an instinct for gambling with his life against the odds. At the same time he became conscious of his role in the defence of Hindustan. His band of patriotism was at once hostile towards the foreigner and benign, even contemptuous, towards his own countrymen whose fate depended so much on his courage and fortitude." Source: Khuswant Singh's History of the Sikhs, Volume 1, page 15. Watch out for Khushwant Singh, he is about as Congressi as they get. Supported KPS Gill big time. True, but Khushwant doesn't come from a Jatt background though. So his quote isn't bias here.

  11. :TH: Wow! I am getting a thumb up from you. Are you feeling okay today? :umm:
  12. This IS the situation right now. Rightly or wrongly (I'm leaving my own judgement out of it). A large group of people associate themselves with Sikhism AND Sikh history. A universal symbol representing this link is the Khanda, which itself only emerged around the 1930s before which Sikhs had different symbols on their flags. So the question(s) we should be asking is why and who created a new insignia to represent Sikhs. Plus why was this symbol adopted so universally by Sikhs in such a short time? Any suggestions? Don't be surprise if Khanda symbol changes in the future. I believe taking out swords and replacing it with guns is going to be future Khanda symbol.
  14. Sehajdhari are people who made their first step to sikhi by accepting Guru Granth Sahib as their guru. They don't follow the 5 k's at all, but that doesn't mean they have no intention of taking amrit though. I believe this term only applies to those people who don’t come from Sikh background. Believe it or not, there is a group in India called "Sehajdhari Sikh Federation". Oh yeah, Mona means a person who comes from a Sikh background, but cuts his/her hair. I don't understand why people here confuse Mona with Patit. These are two different terms. They don't mean the same thing.
  15. What is a Chamaar? :umm: Anyway, the caste system is dying. No one (as in youths) really follows caste system anymore. :umm:
  16. :umm: Monne are patits unless they are on their way to joining the Khalsa... right? By the way, in punjabi: Sehaj means slow, gradual. So I'm guessing Eshari's definition makes slightly more sense :TH: Read my sources ( Post #89) again.
  17. :umm: Monne are patits unless they are on their way to joining the Khalsa... right? “Patit” means a person who being a keshadhari Sikh trims or shaves his beard or keshas or who after taking amrit commits any one or more of the kurahits].”
  18. Totally wrong understanding. In fact t would have done wonders to sikh recognisation in western world. Would have got positive message about sikhs contributoin. I hope in future such regiment is made in britian. The same can be tried in canada too. Are you suggesting sikhs are fighting for hindus in india when working in indian army. They are working & pledging support for the country that geve them birth & right to live. Simialr case is here in britain. No diifrenet. Same should be tried out in canada. ather then wasting life in drug war as recently reported in CBS. They better serve the canadian govt who have given so much to sikhs. No it wouldn't. It would backfire. Racism does exist in army here in the west. Sikh regiment would be used as pawns to do all the dirty work for the white man. Also keep in mind that Sikhs will have more enemies because they're helping out the white man's cause. Just imagine militant groups bombing gurdwaras and killing Sikhs because how Sikhs are helping out the west. Do you honestly think the west is innocent?
  19. 1. How can I leave a community when (According to you) I wasn’t part of the community to begin with? 2. Post your sources where you're getting your quotes from. 3. Do you even know what a patit is? I already provided a definition what a patit is. So stop using that word here. 4. Are you from India? 5. I am not an Indian citizen so this means that Indian constitution doesn't apply to me. So I don’t recognize Indian constitution at all. 6. @ anakh comment. You would be back to post here. :umm:
  20. I hope Sikhs learn their lesson about helping out the white man (British). Anyway, I personally think that Punjabis (notice I said Punjabis, not Sikhs?) shouldn’t join some white man's army because we will be used as pawns. There is no point of joining a white man's army and be sent to countries to kill poor colour people. (In most cases) There is no need for us minorities to do the dirty work for the white man. So when I read about this whole “Sikh regiment” thing, all I could do is laugh at fools who support this. Having a Sikh regiment in white man’s army is nothing but a big joke to me. I hope it never happens.
  21. I know what you mean. :umm: I hate how people post nothing but hateful comments about certain people. :umm:
  22. Seriously, this is getting out of hand now. I can’t be Punjabi either? :umm: What are you going to say next that I can’t be Canadian too? :umm: You obviously are taking my quotes way out of context. Didn’t you read my previous post why I made those comments? Didn’t read other people’s comment? Are you from India or something? If so, then you are a hindu, not a sikh according the Indian consitution. The Constitution Of India: Explanation II.- In sub-clause (b) of clause (2), the reference to Hindus shall be construed as including a reference to persons professing the Sikh, Jaina or Buddhist religion, and the reference to Hindu religious institutions shall be construed accordingly. http://www.constitution.org/cons/india/p03025.html You said in your previous post: So instead going around preaching of who is a Sikh or who is a Punjabi, how about you fight against Indian government and give Sikhs in India their religious freedom instead? By the way, how about you give me a direct quote that states only amritdhari are sikhs from Guru Granth Sahib Ji?????
  23. You got to be kidding me here. You said, So how can a person leave sikhi when he/she wasn’t part of sikhi to begin with? (According to you). Do you know who Shaheed Bhai Harjinder Singh Parha is? He is one of countless monay that died during 80’s and early 90’s. It is sad that Sikh media don’t give these monay any attention at all. This is false unless you have a source that proves that Bhagat Singh wanted to take amrit. You seriously need to learn what a sehajdhari is and what a patit is. THE SIKH GURDWARAS ACT, 1925: Sikh “Sikh” means a person who professes the Sikh religion or, in the case of a deceased person, who professed the Sikh religion or was known to be a Sikh during his life time. If any question arises as to whether any living person is or is not a Sikh, he shall be deemed respectively to be or not to be a Sikh according as he makes or refuses to make in such manner as the [Provincial Government], may prescribe the following declaration:- I solemnly affirm that I am a Sikh, that I believe in the Guru Granth Sahib, that I believe in the Ten Gurus and that I have no other religion “Amritdhari Sikh” means and includes every person who has taken khande-ka-amrit or khanda pahul prepared and administered according to the tenets of Sikh religion and rites, at the hands of five pyaras or `beloved ones’.” “Patit” means a person who being a keshadhari Sikh trims or shaves his beard or keshas or who after taking amrit commits any one or more of the kurahits].” [49. Qualifications of electors.— Every person shall be entitled to have his name registered on the electoral roll of a constituency constituted for the election of a member or members of the Board who is a resident in that constituency and either— (i) is on the electoral roll for the time being in force of persons entitled to vote for the election of a member to represent a Sikh urban or rural constituency of the [Provincial Assembly], or (ii) is a Sikh more than twenty-one years of age, who has had his name registered as a voter in such manner as may be prescribed: Provided that no person shall be registered as an elector who— (a) trims or shaves his beard or keshas except in case of sehjdhari; (b) smokes; © takes alcoholic drinks.] Notice how sehajdhari are excluded when comes to hair? http://punjablaws.gov.pk/laws/33.html#_ftnref49 ------------------------------------- Mona simply means a person born in sikh family who cuts their hair. Mona isn’t a patit. SAHAJDHARI a gradualist among Sikhs. Like other Sikhs, the Sahajdharis believe in the Ten Gurus and in the Guru Granth Sahib, though they exempt themselves from the obligation of keeping their hair unshorn. Receiving the rites of Khalsa baptism one day and maintaining long uncut hair and beard remain, nevertheless, the ultimate ideal which they must realize in their lifetime or see it realized by their offspring.
