  1. What about Chandi di vaar? Why did Maharaj write it? I'll probably start with it because the Gutka Sahib I read has it.
  2. VJKK VJKF I'm just getting into studying Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji and I had a few questions for example where should I begin? I haven't been able to find the complete translations from beginning to end, where can I find them? Why was Charitropakhyan written? The reasons for writing the baani's Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj wrote are out of our minds understanding but any information would be great. Thanks in advance. VJKK VJKF
  3. WJKK WJKF Will Canada's Wonderland stop me at security for a 9 inch kirpan? Should I just tell them in advance before I walk through or will they let me just walk in?
  4. I really don't want to go because there's so much gandh at punjabi parties. If it was simple with vegetarian food and maybe some light relaxing music in the back and people just socializing with no dancing it might be fine. Like seriously, every punjabi party you go to it's the same thing - they serve a snack, people start getting drunk, a few Bhangra performances, more people get drunk, all the drunk people dance on the dance floor and bother the people who aren't drinking/the aunties, they serve roti, almost every uncle is drunk by that point. Never any organization, and gandh music playing in the back with horrible lyrics. I'm thinking I might go for a half hour or so, say sat sri akal to the family and once people start drinking and the music starts getting loud just leave without anyone noticing. Is that a good idea? Or are their any flaws in that? Please let me know. bhul chuk maaf WJKK WJKF
  5. WJKK WJKF Is it fine to go to banquet halls as an amritdhari? I'm asking because my fathers close friend's getting married and they want us to come to the party. I personally don't want to go but my parents really want to go because they're really close friends. I won't be dancing, I'll mainly be either sitting or standing outside in the lobby passing time by talking to people. If I do go should I eat anything? If it's completely bad, what should I tell my parents? I feel like it will destroy progress that's been made but I can't really say much because I don't want to go against my parents either (I'm 16). I wasn't able to find anything about this in Taksali rehat so any help would be great. Bhul Chuk Maaf WJKK WJKF
  6. WJKK WJKF Whey is in regular protein powders but does anyone know if soy protein powders have animal by products?
  7. I don't drink tea at all because of the caffeine. I personally consider caffeine an intoxicant but a lot of people disagree with that.
  8. WJKK WJKF Where can I download books such as Sach khand darshan in English and Punjabi?
  9. My ustad has told me amrit vela riaz is a must. Focus on low key riaz in the mornings because if you can do low really well, high won't be a problem. Drink hot water, avoid drinking drinks that dry your throat. Sing from the stomach, it's powerful and sounds confident.
  10. I will never understand why fish is vegetarian. Is a breathing, swimming fish not alive? lol
  11. LOOOL :'D But to answer the original question - I checked the ingredients and they don't have meat/eggs, but I'm not sure about animal by products.
  12. I had the same problem. I just kept tying one until eventually they gave up trying to persuade me. Don't argue but give your reasons to why you like dhumalla's more and why other styles don't suit you. WJKK WJKF
  13. The biggest problem is people in Punjab still listen to his garbage. Here in Canada and America he isn't as big as he was before. Having Babbar Khalsa take care of him is just going to give us a bad name because the Indian media is going to write stories in a way to make us look like the bad guys. The best thing that can be done is somehow getting people to boycott his stuff. A lot of DJs in Canada have refused to play his music at parties. Once his popularity drops you'll see him throwing out titles called "satguru nanak pargateya mitti dhund jag chanan hoya". Bhul Chuk Maaf. WJKK WJKF
  14. Does anyone have an answer to the original question though? I know a lot of Singh's in my area who've unknowingly eaten animal by products in the past, would they have to go pesh or are they fine?
  15. It's in cheese, usually comes from animal stomach. Not all cheese's have it but a lot of cheese's use it these days, especially cheese's used in pizza http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rennet
  16. WJKK WJKF I was recently at a path and people were eating store made cookies, pastries etc without even checking the ingredients (many were even amritdhari). And frequently you'll see people serving doughnuts (made with eggs) and pizza (made with rennet) being served for langar at kids programs at the Gurdwara. Now my question is would an amritdhari who unawarely ate pizza with rennet (or pastries with eggs) have to go pesh? Or even just ate something with animal by products by accident. Sorry if I offended anyone, I just asked it because it's been on my mind for years and I see it happen a lot. WJKK WJKF
  17. I personally don't see anything wrong with it as long as the people are true and won't backstab, but that goes for everyone of all genders. Guys can be like the way they're shown on tv but a lot aren't like that. It all depends on their sangat and what type of media they're exposed to. Be careful around girls and guys both though because both can do harm by lying, gossiping etc.
  18. WJKK WJKF My usual dhumalla's thick, so will that be a problem when amrit is poured into kes? Should I wear a different dastar on the day or tie a smaller dhumalla? WJKK WJKF
  19. It wasn't advertised as much either. The only place I saw advertisements was on Sikh Channel, so a lot of people don't even know about it.
  20. WJKK WJKF Just watched the movie today and it was amazing. So much history was added that a lot of people were unaware about. Only thing I didn't like was the fact the theatre barely had any people (Brampton Silvercity). So please take the time out to support the people who put in so much effort instead of just downloading it. WJKK WJKF
  21. WJKK WJKF That's what a lot of amrit dhari's tell people when they're asked to pull out their kirpan, It's just to scare them so they don't ask again. But the saying probably has a deeper meaning (not completely sure on that). Bhul chuk maaf WJKK WJKF
  22. WJKK WJKF At the end of Chandi Di Vaar it says "Durga path banaya sabay paurian || Fir na jooni aaya jin eh gaaya ||55|| Is the meaning of this literally how its's translated or does it get deeper? Does it mean mukhti or something else? Sorry if this's been asked before, I couldn't find an answer. WJKK WJKF
  23. WJKK WJKF I recently started to switch to cold showers because of the health benefits. But are there any negative effects in the winter besides the small chance of catching a cold? WJKK WJKF

Everyon's different. Give it time, it'll all depend on how fast your hair grows, if you're an adult it'll be faster.
