  1. I use coconut milk occasionally but for my smoothies I just use water. My favorite smoothy is organic kale and wild blueberry blend - so nourishing, yummy and fulfilling.
  2. Very well Said veer RRSS - great historical/anthropological references. I know I am an outcast here at SS - majority here who support milk drinking , gheo etc - (shall I say right wing sikhs - as opposed to me who is more libral and rational ) - will support gianis like Thakur Singh (who lie through their teeth ), and bachitar natak. They shower us with compliments - gur nindak, neech , nastik , panth dhokhi, on payroll of indian govt etc Singh123456777 you support milk drinking purely driven by emotional reasoning and I guess your taste buds , and then you create threads in Health and Fitness section complaining about your weight - Think about it for a sec - dairy is meant to turn a 200 pound calf into a 2000 pound cow or bull in one year - it will do wonders for your bottom line with all the growth hormones , I'd say keep an open mind and try going vegan for just one month and see the very rapid weight loss as well as many other health and mood improvements.
  3. Even in India there is an excessive use of oxytocin to maximize milk production -which btw is extremely painful for the animal and not to mention very detrimental to human health. http://nehagupta2918.wordpress.com/2014/04/15/illegal-drug-oxytocin-continues-to-rule-the-dairy-market/ From the article - "“Medical experts have pointed out that use of the drug can cause hormonal imbalance in humans and harm the reproductive system of animals, reducing their lifespan. Due to hormonal imbalances created by exogenous source of hormones like oxytocin in milk and dairy products, the age at which girls attain menarche has come down drastically from 16 years of age to 10 years of age. Boys have been diagnosed with gynaecomastia (breast enlargement),” says Dr. Parminder Singh, Endocrinologist, Ludhiana, as quoted in the MiD DAY report of their expose of illegal Oxytocin use (2013)." Also no other animal in nature drinks another species' breast milk , also no animal drinks even their own mother's milk after being weaned.
  4. Gurus drank milk in a day and age when there were not enough calories to go around . In today's world there is no need for stealing breast milk that cow intended to be for its calf. I am a vegan for 2 years and have lost 40 lbs of weight have better sleep, more energy, better mood and feel like I have hit a health jackpot. Also my cholesterol and blood pressure have both dropped . My LDL is 67 which is ridiculously low.
  5. Educating is not pushing veer - many people mistakenly believe they need milk to remain healthy while reality cannot be further from truth.
  6. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/834247?nlid=69703_428&src=wnl_edit_medp_fmed&uac=201004BZ&spon=34 A high intake of milk might, however, have undesirable effects, because milk is the main dietary source of D-galactose. Experimental evidence in several animal species indicates that chronic exposure to D-galactose is deleterious to health and the addition of D-galactose by injections or in the diet is an established animal model of aging.[4-7] Even a low dose of D-galactose induces changes that resemble natural aging in animals, including shortened life span caused by oxidative stress damage, chronic inflammation, neurodegeneration, decreased immune response, and gene transcriptional changes.[5,7]A subcutaneous dose of 100 mg/kg D-galactose accelerates senescence in mice.[5] This is equivalent to 6-10 g in humans, corresponding to 1-2 glasses of milk. Based on a concentration of lactose in cow's milk of approximately 5%, one glass of milk comprises about 5 g of D-galactose. The increase of oxidative stress with aging and chronic low grade inflammation is not only a pathogenetic mechanism of cardiovascular disease and cancer in humans[8,9] but also a mechanism of age related bone loss and sarcopenia.[9,10] The high amount of lactose and therefore D-galactose in milk with theoretical influences on processes such as oxidative stress and inflammation makes the recommendations to increase milk intake for prevention of fractures a conceivable contradiction.
  7. Raw veganism is amazing .... I am training hard in the gym (powerlifting ) so peanuts are an excellent source of dense calories BTW the reason I went vegan was primarily animals however the health benefits were just incredible.
  8. Jkv yes i do eat lots of fatty fruits such as coconut and avocado but oils not so much I also eat lots of peanuts and since going vegan i have lot more energy better sleep better digestion etc
  9. Singh598 veer i have med education too yez fat is essential but its abundantly available in nuts fruits dals etc you think mother nature would design us in a way that we wont do well without breast secretions of other species Back to sikhi reference back in the day there werent enough calories to go around so all food was pious and yes that include horse meat that singhs consumed when they lived in jungles I will eat animal products if i dont have an alternative Btw did you not srudy that our bodies synthesize *all* cholesterol that it needs for cell wall synthesis as well as sterols needed for fatty hormones such as estrogen and testosterone ? If not get a refund from your bio chem professor jkv i do not like refined sugars so yes i have not taken krah prasad in a long time Gurus beautiful keertan is real prasad for my soul Having said that at a few occasions i have taken some dahi at langar so i m not religious about it....

  11. Watch both parts ....within first few times of practice you will learn that you are not your thoughts.
  12. Lets celebrate this gurpurab by incorpoarting some of Guru Nanak's teachings into our lives - Ghal khaye kich hatho de | Naanak raah pachane sey || One who earns Honestly and shares with the needy alone has recognized the true way || Gurmat's temporal aspect involves following three values (i) Earn Honestly Haq paraaya Nanaka us suar us Gai || Our society places importance on having 'wealth' and not how it is acquired - maybe we are aspiring to be Malik bhago and not Bhai lalo. (ii) Live Simply Do not indulge in luxuries and do not show off - stay humble and soft sopken - no grand weddings etc Punjabis have a huge problem with this one - many farmer suicides are realted to failing to repay debts taken to keep up with the society. Mithat neevein nanaka gun changaiya Tat || and Jehre Khange Chopriya ghane sahange dukh || (iii) Share Generously Instead of stashing what extra you have beyond your needs - share it with the less fortunate (and do it humbly without taking pride ) Share both your time and money - when you give someone money you only give money, but when you give them time you give them a part of your life. Dhaa-ay Dhaa-ay kirpan saram keeno ikatar karee hai maa-i-aa. daan punn nahee santan sayvaa kit hee kaaj na aa-i-aa. ॥1॥ guru nanak devji is said to have spoken the following about 'janju' - Daya kapah santhokh sut jat gandi sat vat Where there is santokh there will be daya - where there is greed one can never have enough for oneself and hence will not care about others' plight.
  13. Ayurveda fans - it also highly recommends cow urine drinking as a cure for all ailments. I think this is degenerating into an ego argument instead of an exchange of ideas. World's longest and healthiest living populations e.g in okinawa do not consume any dairy and very little meat. I am myself a vegan for about 2 years now and have shed 40 pounds , and my LDL cholesterol has dropped to an incredibly low levels.
  14. Ayurveda can be wrong too - how come animals in nature never get any of chronic diseases that affect us like heart disease, diabetes , hypertension , strokes etc (without consuming any breast milk from other species) Even in india there is too much oxytocin use to boost milk production.
  15. Ghee and butter are not only worst kind of fats one can put in their body but also involves supporting animal abuse
  16. In observational studies both across countries and within single populations, higher dairy intake has been linked to increased risk of prostate cancer (cited in [2]). Observational cohort studies have shown higher diary intake is linked to higher ovarian cancer risk (cited in [2]). Cow’s milk protein may play a role in triggering type 1 diabetes through a process called molecular mimicry[3]. Across countries, populations that consume more dairy have higher rates of multiple sclerosis[4]. In interventional animal experiments and human studies, dairy protein has been shown to increase IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor-1) levels. Increased levels of IGF-1 has now been implicated in several cancers[5]. In interventional animal experiments[6] and human experiments[7], dairy protein has been shown to promote increased cholesterol levels (in the human studies and animal studies) and atherosclerosis (in the animal studies). The primary milk protein (casein) promotes cancer initiated by a carcinogen in experimental animal studies[8]. D-galactose has been found to be pro-inflammatory and actually is given to create animal models of aging[1]. Higher milk intake is linked to acne[9]. Milk intake has been implicated in constipation[10] and ear infections (cited in [2]). Milk is perhaps the most common self-reported food allergen in the world[11]. Much of the world’s population cannot adequately digest milk due to lactose intolerance. source: http://nutritionstudies.org/12-frightening-facts-milk/
  17. No wonder india is worlds numero uno in diabetes and heart disease
