  1. @ChuckSinghNorris

You are well educated in alternate food sources to attain the vitamins normally found in meat. That's fantastic. Unfortunately, many members of our community are not as enlightened. Granthis are the most common patients that come in for B-12 injections. They don't have access to fortified cereals and such. More education is needed to live a healthy vegetarian lifestyle, but it definitely can be done.

Surely they have enough daeen (yoghurt how do you spell it? :S) and milk. I've never heard of anyone with this deficiancy.

  2. People who don't eat meat need to get essential vitamins from elsewhere. That may be fortified cereals, pills, etc.

Meat contains protein, iron, zinc, and the b vitamins riboflavin, thiamin and b-12.

Protein is found in beans, nuts, seed, lentils, potatoes, etc. (If you consume enough calories, you’re getting enough protein.)

You only require between 8 and 11 mg of iron per day. This is easily obtained with one cup of fortified breakfast cereal, or one serving of tofu. Beans and whole grains are also good sources.

Zinc is found in beans, nuts, whole grains, fortified breakfast cereals, and dairy products.

Riboflavin in found in dark green leafy vegetables, mushrooms, asparagus and broccoli.

Thiamin is found in whole grains, nuts, sunflower seeds, peas, milk, cauliflower, spinach and legumes.

B-12 is found in dairy products, fortified breakfast cereals, nutritional yeast and organic produce.

  3. Some good foods in this video:

In all seriousness, stick to potatoes, pasta, bread, dairy, roti, sabji and daal. Eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Have a salad with your roti. Chocolate and sweets once in a while isn't bad. Drink lots of water. If your wee is yellow drink more water.

Try limit salt in your daalan and butter in daal and roti (if you use butter).

  4. LOL. How is hunting anything like being in a real battle? Hunting is chasing an animal who is running for its life. Battle is when armies fight and you have an enemy fighting back.

Baba Bandga Singh Bahadur. He hunted yet he stopped after he killed a pregnant deer. After he took Sirhand and started a Sikh empire. He didn't need to hunt to be a great warrior. After that hunting event he stopped. He was a good warrior because he did bani and was a proper sant siphahi. Remember bhai Deya Singh. Deya=love/compassion. I don't think scaring an animal then shooting it down is compassion. What did the animal do to you to deserve being shot? From my understanding the guru's hunted to release spirits of animals like Moola Khatri, or if the animals were doing damage to people. Have we become so saint-like, so much like the gurus that we too can go around shooting at animals?

  5. Actually he was also very religious.. i thought it might be possible that he will also become baptised... but he didnt.....!! Meri bewkuffi v c.. mai bhul gai c..

Tudh bhave ta naam japawe... :) Sukh tera ditta lahiye :)

Wasn't talking about him. I was talking about the other Sikh boys you might have asked. Did you ask amritdhari boys? If not then it doesn't matter about non-amritdhari opinions because you should marry a amritdhari boy. :D

  6. This is what I'm on about ੴ, if you guys really wanna split hairs on its English spelling.

Anyway, there are a few national flags floating around. Even Maharaja Ranjit Singh didnt use the Nishan Sahib to represent his Empire, or did he? Symbols have changed since back then.

I thought the nishaan sahib shape (triangle) has been around since the gurus. The symbol on the nishan sahib has changed though. I think we could settle on a khanda though.

I hope you don't pronouce ੴas ik omkaar. Thats not how you say it.

  7. I have seen things happening.. I dont have facial hair such but i was left over by my sikh boyfriend after i took amirt... after talking to couple of more sikh guys i came to know the reality that they dont prefer amritdhari kudiya - aaj kal sikha de ghar sher ni gidad paida hunde ne.. (i m talking about max people not all - this i a real fact - experienced fact).

When i took... Amrit.. i was happy to become daughter of Guru Gobind Singh g...!! but after knowing some of the facts ... i was suprised... like WHAT IS THIS ??

Erm, wouldn't an amritdhari boy marry an amritdhari girl only? So you were asking non-amritdhari Sikh guys? If so, you can't marry them. There have been threads about this and an amritdhari marries an amritdhari.

  8. Are you sure this is the right one? I was told it had three stripes and the Ik Omkar symbol not a Khanda, but I have heard of other ones too so I'm not sure who is right. :umm:

    Does anyone know?

I believe it is IK OANKAAR.

Don't know where you got omkaar from.

Wouldn't an orange nishan sahib or a blue one be the Khalsa flag. It already represents the Sikh nation. A unique nishan of the Sikhs.

  9. I know there is a topic about what foods you shouldn't eat but this one has different content.

I heard that bananas are good..

Not too many bananas. They're radioactive. They contain pottasium-40 (I think it is 40), which is radioactive. So, limit yourself to 2-3 a day. They're good for putting on weight and getting energy.

    Drink plenty of whole milk!

  10. Theres a differance between a realtionship, and abuse, grooming,of a child and covert tactics to convert.

But it starts like that sometimes doesn't it? Sometimes it starts off as a realtionship. If our girls didn't go willingly with muslims this grooming stuff might happen less. Of course these <banned word filter activated> will be on the look out for vulnerable girls.

  11. That show made it sound like it was the Sikhs at fault. When in actual fact its always them. 1947 they started attacks, and they made moves on Sikh girls.

I guess you could blame muslims for some of this, but our girls are partly to blame too. Some go willingly with Pakistani men, I know quite a lot of girls who flirt with muslim boys. They go behind the communities backs and then things happen to them.

  12. . Didn't realise they also ate their tablas and bajas though....so you learn something new everyday.

    LOL.

A little off topic but what about bacteria in general?

Well bacteria isn't an animal. Yes its a living organism but it doesn't feel pain. Well it doesn't feel anything, it lacks a nervous system and brain. There are 5 types of living organism in this world: plant, animals, prokaryots (which includes bacteria), fungi and protostista. Bacteria belong to a different type of life form to animals, they're no more an animal than a fungus or a plant is. Besides you can't avoid them. They're everywhere.
