  1. Well I believe people like Kabir, Ravidas would have achieved Mukhti.

    Perhaps Buddha as well.

Agreed, naam simran (meditation) and good actions is how you get to God. You can be of any faith.

But Sikhi is a path which gives you the best guide on how to get there.

  2. Creation is limitless, it is infinite.

"Many millions are the fields of creation and galaxies. Many millions are the skies and solar systems. Many millions are divine incarnations. He has unfolded Himself in so many ways. He has expanded His expansion of creation many times. Forever and ever, He is the One expanding creation through the vibration (ik oankaar). Many millions are created in various forms. From God they emanate, and into God they merge once again. His limits are not known to anyone. O Nanak, God exists by Himself." (ang 276)

So, we could've been a life form on some other planet. Now we find ourselves on this planet. Dinosaurs are just part of that life cycle. Evolution on Earth. The soul goes through many life forms, maybe some other kind on different planets too.

Who is to say we won't? We may evolve higher. Does this change anything? No matter how intelligent or high we think we are, the ultimate aim of this worldly game is to unite with Waheguru again. If you evolve more, great!

Humans have always had a sense of a God figure. Many worshipped their surroundings (sun etc.), they may not have had any idea how to reach God, maybe they did.

There are many religions that formed in Europe. For example pagan ones, the Roman religion etc. But overall India at the time of the Guru was a place that needed great social change and it is a good place from where Sikhi could spread (Guru Nanak's udhasis). Religion is supposed to help an individual get to God. However, it is up to the person to heed their advice. If I was ill and got medicine from a doctor, but then did not take the medicine, is it the doctors fault that my illness gets worse?

Down to your karma. Your karma determines the "cards" you are dealt with in the next life. So, people with good karma will be born with better cards. If this means being born in Europe, then fine. I live in Europe and I believe in God. Also plenty of people are born to poor families in Europe.

That is for you to decide. I trust my Guru, I trust my Guru when they say I will feel and experience God when I follow their teachings. I know Guru Nanak was given this mission by God because of the teachings. Take a look at what the Gurus did and said. Try meditating and listening to kirtan once in a while.

God has told us. Guru Nanak came with that message. God is within you already. You know where it is, it is up to you to pull back the veil of illusion and unite with Waheguru.

To an extent, even those people could get to God. Sikhi says meditation and seva will help you find God. That can be done in whatever religion you want. Maybe those Norse religions originally believed in one God, but the teachings became corrupted.

  3. Think of it like this. Say this life is a game. The ultimate aim is to join with God. Maya (this world) separates us from God. It creates a wall of illusion, much like a bubble in the ocean. That bubble is in the ocean, it is part of it, yet it acts like it is separate because of the bubble. This is just like us. Our hamai (hai=I, mai=me), our ego, sense of "self", gets in the way and stops us from realising waheguru.

This whole thought of "my freewill", comes from this sense of separation. Bani says "jo jo desai so so rogi" this means everyone I see is diseased. This disease is haumai. There is no separation from waheguru. Waheguru is everything, Waheguru is you, that light within everything is Waheguru. Waheguru is us. It is not "your" freewill. Everything is maharaj, waheguru makes everything happen.

"aad sach, jugaad sach, hai bhi sach". Waheguru is true always. He was true, he is true and he will be true. Waheguru hasn't written for you. He wasn't sitting somewhere writing out plots for everyone's life drama. We are creatures subject to time. God is "akaal". Timeless. God's "time", his watch would say now. God is now.

Going back to the vurri kalam. God is writing out now. We have freewill in the sense that right now, I am writing this answer out. We have to use this to focus our actions towards God. Start naam simran, doing good actions. With spiritual growth, you will realise it was never "you" in the first place. Lose the haumai and what is left? Waheguru is all that is left. Waheguru was doing everything anyway.

    ਤੋਹੀ ਮੋਹੀ ਮੋਹੀ ਤੋਹੀ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਕੈਸਾ You are me, and I am You-what is the difference between us?

ਕਨਕ ਕਟਿਕ ਜਲ ਤਰੰਗ ਜੈਸਾ ੧॥ We are like gold and the bracelet, or water and the waves. ||1||

The emotional attachment is don't make that your focus. Don't make your family the only thing that matters in life. Remember Waheguru, which is the ultimate aim. Grisht jeevan is encouraged in Sikhi, to have a family. The Gurus didn't say "go into the forests", no they had families too. The main focus is don't make your life just about your family, remember Waheguru too.

  4. This Universe is just one of his reflections.

Have you ever been in a house of mirrors at the funfair? You stand in the middle of the room and your reflections are everywhere. There are many different types of mirrors that all reflect you in different ways. The reflections are distorted. Some make you look short, some make you look long, others make you look skinny.

But there is still only one of you. All those mirrors reflect you but there is only one "real" thing that is causing the reflections. If I went up to one of those mirrors and smashed it, it would get rid of one of your reflections. But you will remain unaffected, me smashing the mirror has not harmed you.

In the same way, Waheguru is seperate from creation, but infused within it. We are those mirrors, the universe, galaxies, planets, humans, dogs, etc. are all just those mirrors that are reflecting Wahguru's light. If they are destroyed it won't affect waheguru will it?

  5. GPS Bhaiji

    Agree veerji, with one caveat.

Longowal wrote to Indira and asked for tanks...."bhindranwale will run like a coward when he sees them"....

Thing is longowal and tohra were stupid and thought that indira was helping them, so when tanks came they assumed nothing. But when they see what the delhi plan was......they realised that they too were fools. Eventually they realised they're mistakes and treachery. BUT BADAL HAS NOT AND WILL NOT REALISE THE ULTIMATE TRUTH........SAJJHA BUGHAT NI HI PAINI HAI.

    where is this letter?

  6. "It's not about counting rhetorical devices"...(Jagraj Singh)

    Debate over.

Seriously, what was he going on about? 10 words prove it's God's work? What?

The thing that proves Sikhi is the best is how it doesn't need to prove it is the light for the world. It doesn't need to claim that it will save mankind. One just has to read a few angs of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and they will realise this treasure is here for the whole world, "Jagat Guru".

  7. Guru Nanak Ji came to earth as the pure embodiment of Waheguru, I.e. not under any influence of maya.

We came to earth, as embodiment of Waheguru, but under the influence of maya.

As jeevs, Waheguru is under the influence of maya in that role, but at the same time, he remains detached:

Electricity is powering my computer, the computer is not electricity, the computer is electricity roop. If I smash my computer, that will not affect the national grid electricity supply.

Waheguru adopts the two roops, I.e. Sargun and nirgun. On a sunny day we place 100 buckets of water in the garden, the suns rays reflect in each bucket, that does not mean that there are 100 individual suns, there is only one sun, but 100 reflections. If we destroy one bucket, have we destroyed the sun? If we destroy all buckets, the sun still remains intact.

Waheguru is within us, and separate at the same time. If you look in the mirror, you will see your face. If you look into 100 angled mirrors, you will see 100 of you, but in reality, you are one, not 100.

Waheguru has the ability to ek and anek, at the same time. Just as the sun remains detached from the buckets of water, but gives its rays to the water, just as the 100 mirrors cause the illusion of you being 100; in the same way Wahegurus pritibimbh is within us, in reflection form, but separate, at the same time too...

    Waheguru...

waheguru. i think i finally understood sargun nirgun.

  8. then why create us? whats the point of doing anything. we are supposed to reach god. god sent guru nanak to us. why send guru nanak if god is going to choose who will jap naam and who wont. he wouldnt have to send guru nanak or sikhi because he was deciding who does bhagti. why is there kalyug? or any jugs? surely god wouldnt increase paap for his own enjoyment. bani describes a bond with waheguru as a marriage, we are supposed to fall in love with god. but are we falling in love or really going on a journey to god if he is making us do it. why reincarnate people who dont jap naam? the man who drinks alcohol or works off innocent people, it isnt there fault they are doing those things as god is making them do it.

im sorry if my questions annoy you (some people said i shouldnt question. im too nastic apparently).

  9. I'm confused, someone said people have no free will. Do we have free will? Or does God do everything? So do we make a decision to Jap Naam, or does waheguru make certain people jap naam? If wahguru does make everything happen then why do we get good or bad karam? We did not choose to do something, waheguru made us do it. So why are we rewarded or punished for that deed?

Or did that guy get it completely wrong?

  10. I think disabled people should be accommodated since they are physically unable to sit on ground. But others should not be allowed to sit on benches and chairs. New trend has started since the last decade where so many Gurdwaras in the west are installing chairs and benches in the hazuri of Maharaj. Chairs are there for disabled people but 99% of the people I have seen using them are not even disabled. They are normal and physically have no problem sitting on ground, yet they sit on chairs. Look at this picture:

    gurdwara-prayer-hall-carpet-bangkok-thai

As you can see the women in the back sitting on those chairs are normal and from the looks of it are doing chuglis in the Hazuri of Maharaj while only one woman(3rd from left) is disabled which is why she is sitting on a wheelchair. But the other ones are just sitting on chairs for no reason.

This is why chairs and benches should not even be in the Hazuri of Maharaj. Perfectly normal people start to take advantage of these facilities. Only the real disabled people should be sitting on chairs.

Yeah I agree. The disabled and elderly should not be denied darshan of SGGS. Anyone who is fit shouldn't sit on the chairs. Maybe sangat or comitee members should tell them to stop sitting on chairs.
