guys many people don't know what a sikh is or even heard of the word! i have seen many comments and responses where people say we are a muslim sect and this sheikh abdullah started it. these people dont know who sikhs are. they see turbans and assume they are muslims. regardless of whether it says sikh temple on the gurdwara these people will assume it is a muslim sect. many gurdwaras in the US have been vandilsed and broken into regardless of big sign saying "sikh temple" on it. this is most probably a hate crime as most americans think we are muslims. why does everything have to be a conspiracy theory? i can see why people are saying it might be, but seriously look at all the other hate crimes that have happened of the sikhs that were killed, this gunman probably thought he was getting "revenge" on muslims. also on FOX news it says "sikhs are based in northern Italy" well done American news for educating america about sikh. well done.

no doubt this was a great amzing act. but, why did they stop people killing cows? i mean would they have killed muslims if they ate chickens or pigs? well not pigs...

what about animals? if you had a really ill pet. would you choose to kill it?

Khalsa Ji
I believe this site is selling a book written by Dr. Gopal Singh Published in 2002. I believe it is a book about Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Perhaps someone else could clarify this?

I think, like others have said that you have some kind of 'choice' in this, whether this is actually your choice or your perception that you had a choice in the first place is questionable. Recently the news has covered a lot of people with chronic illness going over to other countries such as Switzerland (if i recall correctly) to legally end their life and I know that Terry Pratchett undertook a documentary for the BBC following some of these people around. It was really sad to watch but I think additional sadness was brought on by the fact that they believed this was the only way out. I, myself having never experienced what its like to suffer from such an illness can never imagine what that is like however part of me feels like if this was legalised in this country people who were getting older and did not want to face the issues of old age such as incontinence, potentially undignified behaviour as a result of illness (dementia etc) may choose this path. In my opinion, I believe that this is due to how old age is seen in this and every other country. We don't value our elders and their knowledge as much as we should and old age is looked upon as a shaming experience.
Just my two pence worth!
but if it was legalised certain laws could be put in place to protect the elderly, maybe other countries that do have euthanasia as lehal have laws to protect the elderly. personaly, i watched a documentry on a woman who had motor neurone disease, she could no longer do anything, she had a active normal brain in a paralysed body. she felt trapped and no longer wanted to live and she felt as if she had no honour. i was saddened by it, she was denied euthanasia and died pumped full of drugs in hospital. i think euthansia would have been a more dignified way for her to die.

We need our own media.
we do have our own media, sikh channel and sangat tv. however, we don't use them properly, we don't support them properly. if only every sikh got behind one channel we could do lots.

whereas this pav women had her head up her.......
lololololololololol true. ignorant person she was. knows nothing about the signifcance of shastars in sikhi. she should do some real unbiased research on 1984. didnt talk about 1984 at all, and it was supposed to be "young sikhs" not 40year old people.
0 -
you can't stop thinking about him? then when are you thinking about waheguru? :D
0 -
yes but many sikh people have views against 1984. we saw that on the program (pav) and many others have views like this. we need to educate ourselves. many sikh people believe in the indian propoganda and don't study their own history/faith.

that pav woman was very annoying. extremely biased views saying sant ji looked scary, she is going against sikhi if she thinks weapons are scary. has she seen the guru's shastar. if she thinks sant bhindrnwale was a terrorist then she must think the guru's were too as they carried weapons and faught against the injustice of the government. tried to phone in but didn't get through.

ladli fauj bro you have some cool pictures :D. whats happening on pictures 33 and 48?

Just make a scary face when they click. I am lucky that way, I don't need to try to do that!
troololololololololololooololololol. nice joke. (are you joking :o) you are supposed to stand out so obviously people are going to notice you. guru gobind singh said for his sikhs to stand out in a crowd of 100,000. but you live in a chav area >.> maybe they do think you're a taliban, they don't go to school so i doubt they know much about sikhs.

who cares about others and how they live. focus on yourself. you will die by yourself not with all the other jathebandian. if those people are fake let them be fake. waheguru will deal with them. the courage comes from simran and bani and reading about all those great gursikhs. just follow what the gurus said.

wasn't a hukam given by guru hargobind sahib ji to tie not one but 2 dastaars? so wouldnt that type of pagh look more dumalla like? personally only paghs that has been safe and secure for me has been gol or dumalla. a dastaar is meant ot be respected, i dont think the old sikhs would ever wear a dastaar that could come off so easily and beadbi happen to their dastaar.

Dumalas were the style of dastaar worn by the nihangs and not the main style of dastaar used by everyone else. The Kooka style of dastaar is most likely just an old style of tying the dastaar that was worn by the originial Singhs that formed the Namdharis.
See below at pictures of Sikh soldiers which are around 155 years old and would almost certainly have also served in the armies of Maharajah Ranjit Singh and the Khalsa Raj. Most of the dastaars bear no resemblance to damala or boonga styles worn by Nihangs and nor do they bear any resemblance to modern Nok patiala styles. Some do look simliar to the kooka style as well:

those old paghs don't look very secure. how did they tie them :O

sikh dastaars changed when we began to fight more so dumallah types came around to store weapons in and offer head protection. the pointy pagh most people wear today is based aupon mahraja styles (i think :D)

kooka pagh? it looks like a gol pagh to me. :s. maybe back then paghs looked different to todays styles.

Yet Another Failed Attempt (By One Of Our Own) To Inform The Masses
in WHAT'S HAPPENING?

why do we always potatoes and uneducated people foward. was watching the CNN coverage and the sikh they called couldn't speak english properly. he said a few punjabi words (kay etc.) in the interview and said sikhs call their temples gurdwaras then called the gurdwara a church. a white non-sikh explained better than the sikh man did. we actually need to say who we are to people. it was so embarrassing watching the interviews.
