The extreme right wing absolutely love the Sikhs and constantly make public announcements expressing their love,
Perhaps to get us on side?
I don't know. The EDL seem to like Sikhs. But then again, if they manage to do something about Muslims, whos to say they won't go after us? I mean they need support, get us on side and it seems as if the EDL aren't a racist group.

. yeah, my bad wrote it wrong. Alcohol is forbidden to any one calling themselves a sikh sehajdhari or amritdhari, Guru Nanak ji told babar to stop drinking wine ,others like Bhagat kabir ji have also condemned drinking wine etc , way before Amrit by the 10th Guru, although amrit was still done prior to kande de pahul and was known as charan pahu, This is exactly my point incorrect info given about sikhi, just personal made up thinking.
Whosoever takes Marijuana, fish and alcoholic drinks; all his pilgrimages, fasts and performance of religious practices shall go waste (SGGS, p 1377).

Dumalla. Wrap your kes in with keski, do a bunga so ur kes are kept in place and thers a solid base for your dastar and then finish it off with your second malmal. BOOM!
My bunga is so weak. It just falls apart and flops foward. And wouldn't a large dumallah be too big? Is there a way of having a small pagh and a bunga perhaps? Also, I've looked at videos showing how to do a bunga but I can't do it.

I'm going to start doing MMA and boxing.
I need a strong pagh style, or a way of tying up my hair so that it stays out of the way. My hair is long but it is light.

Thanks for all answers so far, feel free to put more answers/tips etc. and N30S1NGH I have actually tried to find good website to read Gurbani, but never found one - your page seems good. What comes to meditation, I will try your way in that aswell!
Yeah srigranth.com is a good place to start. If you want videos with translations then this youtube channel is good. http://www.youtube.com/user/wwRajKaregaKhalsaNet/videos
It has Sikh hymns and prayers with translations.
2. Is it ok to drink wine once in a while? I dont mean to get drunk - I just like the taste of wine and its becoming my hobby.
No, it is not . it is forbidden
Alcohol is forbidden if you take amrit.
1. Is it turban necessary? I live in Finland and this country is pretty Racist. I dont scare that people laugh at me if I wear it, but I just dont like the way it look.
If you keep your hair uncut, then you'll need a turban. If you begin to progress on the path of Sikhi, you may decide to keep your hair and wear a turban. For the time being it is fine and you don't have to wear it. Take it slowly, read and learn about Sikhi until you are 100% sure you want to follow this path.

I do kirtan for free for sangat who call me....
FYI- raagis and sewadaars are given home food and salary to serve Gurudwara
Apart from this they get chadawa like people who donate to them.
Get some information some of the raagis ask for so much money that poor people can't even to think to call them at home or in local Gurdwaras
Lol. Yeah their family doesn't stay in the gurdwara. Besides most gurdware take a percentage from the money they get. My dads best friend from his childhood is a raagi. He has a family to support in India, with no other way of making money.
And this thing about affording raagis? What? When you have an akhand path at home the gurdwara will send some over. I think most people who do an akhand path can also afford to give a few £s to a raagi. What else can these people do? At least they are bothering to do parchaar.
I feel sorry for the dhaddis. At some gurdware they put them right at the end, so most sangat has left. These guys probably make like £20 in a day, this £20 is split between 3/4 people. If a Punjabi singer can get a few thousand pounds for attending a wedding/party, why can't a raagi get paid to sing at a wedding? Whats wrong about that?

I think she was trying to say that by tying it around, the kirpan and kanga stay in place.

What does the original post say? Can anyone summarize it in few words of English?
It says that the Akaal Takht recieved complaints about Neeru Bajwa's tattoo. The jathedar (leader) of the Akaal Takhi issued a statement saying "we have recieved complaints like these before." He also said that "tattooing bani on your body is disrespectful and can cause beadbi. There will be an investigation against people who tattoo themselves using bani.

I used to have fake money (you get those plastic coins and stuff). I used to take it to the gurdwara, then stand infront of the golak and put it in.
Good times...

When Did Your Family Become Sikhs
in WHAT'S HAPPENING?
Posted
I was just wondering, do any of you have any idea when your family first became Sikhs?
Mine became Sikhs at the time of the 7th guru. Guru Har Rai Sahib came to my pind. He stopped off with an army before heading off to Kartarpur Sahib.
I don't know how accurate this story is but I was told my some old people, they said that the Guru came to the pind and wanted to stay there. Some villagers refused and turned them away. Then some villagers went after the Guru and asked them to come back. Then the Guru is said "those who came back will stay and the ones who didn't will go away from this pind". Don't know if this story is true, but its the one I was told.
So I was just wondering if anyone else knew how their family became Sikh.
