  1. no offence alot of amrit dahri singhs nowdays just like to wear bana etc to show of. when it comes down to nitty gritty and stuff needs to be done they take the back seat so in my eyes some singhs with cut dahriyan, earings etc or moneh are more singh like than the amrit dahri of course not outwards appearance wise.

  2. Yeah, I aint married but if I feel awkward around people etc etc. I just straight up sit down and have a real talk with them gaal dil dee karda yan - talk from the heart. Majority of the time is just some misconceptions people have about eachother, and can be easily resolved etc.

Hardy Kaur : just a wicked line of baani I remembered.

guess its just a case of not loosing the son. most mothers fear that once the son is married he will leave her an never ask of her again.

The mother thinks that her son is growing up; she does not understand that, day by day, his life is diminishing.

  3. Omg I cant believe I am reading. **ck the talk lets get this sorted. I understand that the gals dont want to tell family etc, its an awkward issue. Can the penji(s) who had this done PM and K Singh wat gyani was chatting to ur friend please PM aswell. Im too angry to say anything else. This needs to get sorted out.

  4. I wish I could talk to your dad in person and explain each of the statements he has decided to make. They all in my eyes have long answers and I hate typing soo. I will reply to:

Why did Guru Gobind Singh ji tell us to keep a kirpan? What is a kirpan going to do in front of gun? They should change the rules because now we have guns and more advanced technology than 1699.

U got to understand the Sant Siphai (Saint Soldier) + Miri/Piri aspect of Sikhi. Guru Ji states all Khalseh should never be unarmed due to circumstances. Shastar + Bir Ras/Atheyaar (weapons) + Shastar Vidiya (knowledge of weapons) is a must for every Khalsa this together with Guru Ji's Baani and gian karak = Ultimate Warrior. Guru Ji wasnt stupid the Singhs invented Guerrilla warfare and were the masters of it. Of course utlimately a gun would win against kirpan, but all depends on the person and circumstances..how about if ur gun runs out> see technology has its downsides aswell. Guru Ji when talking about shastar doesnt only mean kirpans, shastar means weapons so if the enemy is using more advanced weaponary of course the Singhs will do the same, for example in 1984 the Singhs used Guns/Rifles against the indian government how do you explain a 100+ Singhs armed with AK's etc + limited ammunition. Taking on one of the worlds largest armys and holding them up for a number of days? Even when the indian gov had all highly trained troops in the world and masses of weaponary along with ammunition, u would expect them to be one step ahead (or a few) LOL.gif .

Your dad really needs to look into the Siphai (Soldier) aspect of Sikhi.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji said "Without hair and weapons you are like sheep"

    Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

I just found out a few days ago that my good mate from Uni, who is an Amritdhari Singh, was the person who invented this T-Shirt.  This Singh travels across London a lot on the Tube.

I was trying to get him to sign up to SikhSangat to give his side of the story ... but he was going to leave for holiday on the day I found out for 2 weeks to some remote part of the world.

The whole T-Shirt does not only say "Don't Freak ... I'm a Sikh". This message is only displayed on the back. On the front, there is a Khanda on the top left hand corner, and a quote across the middle saying "Recognise the human race as One," by Guru Gobind Singh. Basically, it translates "Maanas Kee Jaat Sabhae Eakae Pehchaanbo".

Thus, whilst distinguishing between Sikhs and Muslims, it also seeks to educate the public with a positive message on the teachings of our Gurus.

Basically, he said he has received good feedback from this T-shirt, becos when he walks around the tube and London, people are acknowledging his separate identity. 100's of people have given him smiles, acknowledgements, etc., of the problems faced by Sikhs since the London terrorist bombings. Others have also come to him and spoken to him personally about the need for unity in these difficult times, and how we should all be united against terrorists. People have realised that Sikhi teaches respect and equality for all persons, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, etc.

He only decided to make out this T-shirt after facing racist abuse on the Tube, due to his distinct Khalsa Saroop. Thus, this T-shirt has had a positive impact.

I did put it to him isn't it a bit harsh on Muslims, as it suggests that one should be careful of Muslims, becos they are all terrorist "freaks". He acknowledged that it might be interpreted in this way, but he decided that first and foremost his duty was to protect Sikhs and educate the public about Sikhs/Sikh identity. Thus far, he has been successful in his objectives.

When he comes back from holiday, he will be making this T-Shirt available at cost price, for all Sangats, probably at about £10-£12.

    Waheguroo

Naam Ras please post info as to when Singh comes back from his holiday and where they will be availible from.

  6. Yeah I def want a T Shirt. Does it have a link to a website on the t shirt so that if someone see's a "Sikh" and due to lack of education doesnt know what a Sikh is they can logon to net and find out about Sikhi. How many t shirts are availible? If any one knows where to get them from?

  7. No your not wrong in my eyes. D/w about caste. Our parents have been bought via the caste system even though it is job-based we dont really need it in western countries. But never forget where you come from (bloodline). And why so many people when talking about caste always say Jatts are the ones who care about caste. Hello wake up to reality other castes think they are higher etc etc, for example in Ramgarhia Gurudwara in Slough u aint allowed to join the comitee unless ur ramgarian/tharkan LOL.gif If you and the girl really love each other go ahead forget everything about the caste system and both take amrit that way u belong to the best caste of all the Khalsa Panth.

I discovered the lowly views each caste has against other castes. How in the apparently Superior Jatt caste, it's a norm to beat up your wife, your daughter, your sister, your son, drink till you are paralytic...then beat up anyone in your path and refer to your female family members as <admin-profanity filter activated>/slag/<admin-profanity filter activated>/<admin-profanity filter activated>. (Obviously, this isn't the case in every jatt house...but i'm told it is in a very high percentage...one of my best friends is jatt and it doesn't happen in his house, so don't think I'm making assuptions from one single case).

Look im from a Jatt family, I dont drink but just happens to be that high percentage love thier drink and socialising. The wife beating and the rest of bullocks u mentioned happens rarely nowdays, im sure its common in other castes and refering to female family members as " " is a big bunch of bullocks.

Sorry if I am being rude just wanted to clear up a few points.

  8. And dont u love the meaning Sikh names have they the best man. I swear and the way u can shout out a Sikh name sounds wicked. You cant really shout out any other names like Sikh names: Lol i saw two babeh one across the road and one was like

O BALDEV SIHOOO Teek ya, sounded wicked yeah. No imagine some gora baba:

O hello tom, NA JUST DONT ROCK ME BOAT LOL LOL.gif

  9. Sikh_Kuri  Today, 10:24 AM Post #24

I personly dnt prefer Goreh names, @ da end ov da day it wud jus cover ya identity. This girl that argued wid me she has an eng name & wen it cumz dwn 2 religious studies lesonz she duno jak al bout Sikhi & avoids bein cald a sikh, but wen it cumz dwn 2 churchs n christianity she fires away so many fingz. She admits 2 y ayn she a christian, she sed she wants 2 convert but she ayn alowd cuz she stil livz wid er gran n wen er granz out she'l convert. Wud dis b da rents fault or da galz?

Lol let her convert to Christianity, becuase she aint experienced Sikhi if she had or had been she would never even thought of converting. All you can do is try to educate her about Sikhi or do ardaas and hope akaal purakh does kirpa on her.

Any ways I would hate a gora name just doesnt have the same edge as a normal name:

Michael Singh - No NO No - just doesnt sound right - sounds like a character out of disney land

Manjeet Singh - Yes Yes - Sounds wicked got that catch/ring to it you tell it a sher.

    :TH:

  10. what a bunch of " " all these internet gangsters let them say what they want, they are the ones who are doing it behind a computer screen we could do the same but why stoop down to thier low levels. looks like a bunch of idiots just trying to get u vxd, dont take notice cos we all know in real life face 2 face these ppl dont have the balls to say the things they saying behind a computer screen with a hidden identity. just try to contact the site admin and close any racial topics.

  11. is ur guilt about things or physically done? or have to emotionally offended ppl. Just move on learn from ur mistakes, and go to those people say yo....and explain ur self and apologise (take alot of guts to do...but trust me..if it something quiet bad)..and just sit back and watch, wats happened > happened, wat going to happen will happen. And most of all with a clean heart yeah ask guru ji for forgiveness u wil always been forgiven by Guru ji. pray.gif

  12. Did any one watch the houses of commons where the MPS question tony blair. The 1st question was by Keith Vaz who was present at the APPG launch yesterday, and guess what neither did he, or ANY ONE else mention "SIKHS" let alone the all the attacks that have been going on. All I heard blair and others rattling on about was islam this islam that, muslim community are vitcims etc etc etc ( I wouldnt be surprised if the whole damn questioning revolved around islam, muslims and other related issues) Blair also had a meeting with 4 muslim mps or something no mention of Sikhs even though alot of pressure was applied to various MPS during the APPG lanuch yesterday. ohmy.gif

  13. Sorry I just had to post this. Today I was watching the news, and it was amazing how they interviewed so many muslim organisations, and other relevant muslim people in the UK. Sky news also showed the 2/3 mosques that had been attacked. BUT HEY guess what. No mention of the 2/3 Gurudwaras that had been attacked. Again they were interviewing normal muslim people in birmingham...HMMM...YET AGINT NO SIKHS. It gets better in the houses of commons sada prime minister king of kn*bs tony blair didnt mention Sikhs once even though we are the most likely to be attacked. I have seen no statements from ANY Sikh organisation on the TV. I know Sikh Fed has released various statements. How comes they never have any one representing the Sikhs in the UK, is becuase our so called representatives cant be <admin-profanity filter activated>*d or they just been being out right ignored by the media aswell as the major politicians. We look like a total bunch of idiots, sorry to say. Any one have links to BBC hell get me on there. I think the only way we can get around this is to protest outside major tv stations like BBC main headquarters or the next time we clash with groups like the NF. What ur guys views? Do you think the our so called representatives are doing enough>?

  14. As we all know after the terrible events of Thursday, London. Sikhs have yet fallen victim to mistaken identity. Various Sikhs have been assulted, A Gurudwara Sahib in Kent has been burnt. One Gurudwara in Bradford has tried to be burnt. Ever since thursday I have been listening to various news channels, reports and radio stations. IT IS CLEAR, THAT ALL THE MAIN POLITICIANS AND OTHER FIGURES HAVE TOTALLY IGNORED THE SIKHS. It as though SIKHS DONT EXIST. In my eyes everything + everyone has fail to highlight the Sikhs even though they are most likely to be attacked in mistake for some hardcore islamic fundamentalist.

I think rsinghs post about emailing and writing letters to the mayor of london & local mp is a good idea. Heres the link:

    http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=12300

Also people get producing those leaflets and give your opinions and advice on the ones that are already uploaded. Heres the link:

    http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=12285

I think we should also email major news channels and call into main radio stations and express our concerns for the Sikh community and how main politicians including ken livingstone have TOTALLY IGNORED the Sikh community as whole despite the attacks and what the Sikhs have done for the british.

Here are some email addresses of major news channels:

    News@Sky.com (www.sky.com/skynews/home)

And I think BBC's is: news@bbc.co.uk ( I have been on thier site, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/default.stm) but can't find a relevant email contact address.

  15. I think due to the recent attacks this should have been done after September 11th. We need leaflets produced explaining to non-Sikh general public about who Sikhs are and how do distinguish the difference between Sikhs and Muslims etc. Also a short intro on Sikhi should be included.

Leaflets should be A5 size half of A4, but all the info cant be crammed all on to one leaflet. The leaflets Anjaan has uploaded are ideal. I think we should all produce some leaflets, then look at others and edit and improve on if needed.

Because our aim is the same educate the general public about Sikhs, this should be done with all our hearts irrespective of what jatha or group we belong to.

I think 2 x A5 leaflets (double-sided) will be needed, in order to serve this purpose nothing fancy as it should provide necessary info, not too much writing as some people are put of this a combination of illustrations & labels + short points/paragraphs are needed to create maxium impact. Links to certain Sikh sites should be included.

    Here my idea.

    LEAFLET ONE:

    Side 1: White background, with text saying > Christian…NO, Muslim…NO, Hindu…NO, Jew….NO…What then…Sikh

Side 2: Brief intro about Sikhs and Sikhi, facts like Sikhs serving in world wars with British etc.

    LEAFLET TWO:

Side 1: Picture of known terrorist (bin laden) the on the other side a Singh & Singh-ni

Side 2: What are the identity of Sikhs, brief explanation of 5K’S (etc). Basic Sikhi principles like Seva a few pictures and links to websites with more info about Sikhs.

People we should all try to combine our skills and produce some really good literatue. So people get making, uploading + download & edit. :TH:
