All the nine treasures, and the eighteen supernatural powers are held by our Lord and Master in the Palm of His Hand.

sabh niDhaan das asat sidhaan thaakur kar tal Dhari-aa. (Ang 10 SGGS)

Tegh Bahadur Simrareeai Kar No Nidh Avai Thai

Remember and meditate upon Guru Tegh Bahadur; and then nine sources of wealth will come hastening to your home. (Ardas)

Can anyone give an insight on what the nine treasures or sources of wealth are?

  2. i dont think the loyal group of sikh youth is fading away, i think it is GROWING GRADUALLY, thanks mainly to online sikh educational sites parchar of sikhi by some dedicated sikhs ie, sikh camps, talks and societies . but at the same time the majority of sikh youth are continuing to move away more than ever, the sharp divide between the faithful and faithless is increasingly apparent. we can try do as much in our own ways to help educate misguided youths on sikhi but we have to bear the brunt of KALJUG.

THINGS WILL ONLY GET WORSE BEFORE THEY GET BETTER

  3. common dilemma

marry the guy. if it's just a caste issue (hate caste! ) then they'll eventually come round. thats an observation of other inter caste marriages that i've known of.

if your parents are really stubborn, then get people involved who can mediate

or help settle the dispute. i.e. cousins, friends, elderly folk. same with his family

i still say marry the guy if you care for each that much, otherwise you'll just end up sacrificing your happiness in the long term..

  4. i dont get it wacko.gif

i've got a pic of bebe nanaki tieing a lakhri on sri guru nanak dev ji.

and theres loads more of them.

and secondly sooo many sikhs practice it.

isn't it NOT meant to signify anything religious but just the union

    between a brother and sister.

and i know this has nothing to do with the topic but theres meant to be

abit of controversy with gurdwara marriage ceremonies. i've heard

some ppl say that there are cultural elements that have been included

in it and as a result has been altered? sorry for raising a totally different topic!

can someone please elaborate on and explain the above issues?

  5. i think we all know that communism is pretty big in the punjab.

    communists are generally atheists.

but is it true with the punjabi commies that although many of them do go

to the gurdwara regularly, they are hostile to sikhi?

if so what was their role post-84 regarding the militancy.

can anyone shed any light on this because alot of people in my family

    are communists.

  6. all the singhni's i know wear dastaar's by their own choice.

in my opinion i think it looks good :TH:

and whats this about the girls who have 'beard and moustache's'?

    i certainly can't recall seeing any grin.gif

but even if there are then RESPECT to them for adhering to rehit and just

because surreal wouldn't get married to a girl with abit of facial hair doesn't mean

    anyone else wouldn't.

true what you say surreal in regard to the problems we face ie gurdwara's

named after caste BUT we shouldn't judge sikhi because of the faults of a few.

and most if not all gursikhs i have met have never LECTURED me or called me a non-sikh or outsider. rather i've always recieved ENCOURAGED and INSPIRATION and i've always been treated as an equal.

i call myself a sikh where others may not. we can call ourselves whatever but in Maharaj's eyes i belive that it may well be a different story

as for the handful who have fought for sikhi. hundreds of thousands of shaheed have

laid down their lives for th quam. just because we're told of a few illustrative

examples doesn't mean thats all there was. baba deep singh fought with his head severed, bhindranwale and his men held out in the burning heat of the akal takht for days without water not to mention countless others. these khalsa have achieved what normal people could not. thats the magic of amrit and keeping rehit.

these Gursikhs have followed Satguru ji's hukam. for the rest of us non-amritdhari's it's something that we can at least aspire to but our decisions and the paths we choose to follow rest within ourselves.

  7. true veer ji

    how can you define 'fanatic'?????????

just because a person strongly believes in something or shows allegiance

to a religion or something doesn't brand them a 'fanatic'

EXAMPLE: if you wear a fair bit of designer gear i.e. versace, gucci

doesn't that make you a fanatic?

    ANSWER: No!

it just shows you got good taste. lol

just because someone is into sikhi, anti justice for 84 or even pro taksal

doesn't necessarily brand them a fanatic. if you think it does then in some sense

    WE'RE ALL FANATICS.

  8. the inside is important but so is the outside.

we can call ourselves sikhs (not a problem) but who's sikhs are we. if we don't follow guru ji's

teachings then we certainly ain't sikhs of the Guru.

we can twist things and criticise all we want but maharaj's HUKAM is set. its not gonna go anywhere, it's there in solid form and it's up to us to follow it. if we decide not to for whatever reason then we do it at our own peril.

we can also say that 'a keshdari smokes' or someone who cuts there hair doesn't.

on that point i got to agree. some cut haired sikhs are into their religion than some

keshdari sikhs and likewise. everyone takes things at their own pace. lecturing people doesn't help BUT encouraging people does. by making people aware of sikhi is the most important thing, then if they want to grow their hair, again they have to make their decision and not be forced into it.

and lastly just because some people might not follow rehit or a keshdhari drinks or smokes. we should not try to compromise sikhi or indeed tarnish it just because

of the actions of a few. its not the examples of others that we (or attempt to) follow but Sat Guru Maharaj..

    bhul chuk maaf karni

  9. we're all told hair is important and must be kept.

which is TRUE and is HUKAM

    BUT

im on the path to sikhi however at the moment i trim my beard.

everything i've achieved i've done by taking one step at a time.

i won't to grow my beard but i find it difficult when i attempt to.

i know the reasons why i should keep my kesh and of the numerous sacrifices that

    shaheeds have made

but i still find it difficult in a practical sense. with some people though, they can do it instantly, for ohers it takes longer.

so i pray to Guru Ji to give me the courage to grow my kesh pray.gif

the bottom line is whether we are women or men, to follow the path of sikhi we should at least aspire to grow our hair. when it is time and with maharaj's blessings we will be able to. many of us are trapped in the shackles of western society and materialism and try to conform with its ideals. only waheguru can save us from this.

for the ones who argue that it is not important and mandatory to keep hair, we shouldn't try to conceal our weaknesses by twisting sikhi to suit our own needs. HUKAM is HUKAM and cannot be changed. sorry if i seem hypocritical.

    bhul chuk maaf karni
