  1. Sangat needs to find all involved in the fight and ban them from a 10 mile radius and appoint very very honest Sikhs to take care of the fund with weekly Or daily financial reports where there can be no hera feri.

If we sit down and allow this to continue we are condoning it. I'm literally sick to my stomach it is horrible.

Will we keep letting this happen??!

Veer its easy to say but really hard to do :/ because eventually those people that try to get the initial culprits punished most likely end up getting corrupted also. And it just becomes a really nasty war defaming each other and in some cases they even start defaming women and its just really nasty.

    *Saying this from personal experiences*

I'm so sick of all of this. Like someone previously said, go to gurdwara, matha tek, mind your business and come home. Sometimes there is no other option left.

  2. This made me really sad because something somewhat similar is happening in my local Gurdwara. And to know that the same situation is in many other Gurdwareh in the world is really depressing. People bring their personal problems into a holy spiritual place. What kind of examples are we setting for other people and our future generations? Is a Gurdwara really a place for politics? I agree with the previous poster there should not be a need for committees to exist. Saareya nu aapdeh chaudar di payi reihndi ah. Teh Guru Ghar nu mazak samajh rakheya. Jado rab di lathi pau gi odho samajh au gi saareya nu. We go to the Gurdwara to learn something and connect with Maharaj but when things like these happen we can't even concentrate :(

Pata nai ki hou ga aapna. Gurdwareh tah sambhal nai hundeh aapni committees toh, bakki ki umeed karni.

  3. Sikhs should live and let live, but shouldn't go out of our way to support such violent behavior in the name of political correctness. Guru Amar Das Ji didn't allow bibian to enter the langer or congregation/Sangat while they had a burqa or hijab on, but Sikhs didn't go to ban it.

Veer I'm pretty sure it was just bibiya wearing a niqaab or burqa. A hijab isnt anything like a burqa its just a scarf as S4ngh answered. And bibiya usually wore suits in Punjab so they mostly wore a chunni on their head which would be similar to a hijab. Burqa covers the face and thats what Guru Ji didn't allow from my knowledge.

  4. Maybe she has depression. Its hard to tell what the mental state of a person is, they look normal on top, but their disorder is invisible.

Its not right what she is doing, she may not even know she is doing it.. A lady was once shouted at and humiliated infront of lots of customers on a busy day, in a punjabi grocery store, as she had been something quite often. Not sure what she was doing,, but guessing it was stealing...but she was so nicely dressed, a middle aged woman, from a respectable family, and kept saying sorry afterwards, as she didnt realise she did it, but the way she was humiliated in front of everyone, that was very hurtful.

I feel somebody should be told with sincerity and pyar in order to help her.

If she does have the problem, her family will appreciate it as they may not know she has a problem for which she could get further professional help. If she doesnt have a problem or disorder, then i would feel it as my duty to let her know she has been spotted on dvd, then it will make her think twice next time she does it.

Yes like bhenji said. I have a family member who doesn't know what they are doing sometimes like they cant tell from right and wrong at times and they need to be calmly explained. Its not their fault. So maybe this was the case with this lady also. Depression does cause this because there are many different forms of depression.

  5. I’m not sure why there was a comment comparing a situation where you would not identify a child by their hijab, is the contributor alluding to some terrible retribution? Unless they were the only hijab wearer in the school and you knew their name, how else would you identify such a child as you would only see their eyes? Should you just ignore them until positive identification can be achieved just so you didn’t offend anyone!

Well usually the "topknot" is covered with a cloth I assumed the child was wearing a cloth over the knot. So thats why I referred to a hijab. By the way, a hijab reveals the entire face whereas a niqab covers the face for Muslim ladies. What I was trying to say was that one wouldn't refer to a Muslim girl as "the girl with the hijab" same way one shouldn't refer to the Sikh boy as the "boy with the top knot"

But yes if the teacher has apologized its all good I suppose :)

  6. If we can lobby the 1984 Sikh genocide with both the 2002 Muslim genocide of Gujarat and 2007 killings of Christians in Orrissa, we will have a formidable force that would be strong enough to represent all of the oppressed minorities in India. It would be a matter of meeting with them, gathering and sharing evidence (audio, video, transcripts etc.) which will build up a phenominal case for the whole world to see.

I've always liked this approach because then more people support the movement.

  7. There are many Sikh kids that get ridiculed and made fun of at school all the time by fellow student. This teacher should have been more sensitive. Distinguishing someone with the "topknot" comment is offensive. Would she call a muslim student "the girl with the hijab" amongst 200 other students?

  8. This <Edited> me off soo much!!!

My poor bibi had to hear me rant about it for almost 30 minutes....... Aenka valleh deh ek chaperd marn nu jee karda siga he wouldn't even let the Sikh representatives speak! Balleh chardape marda. (He's jumping around in his chair)

Ok so the guy says Harimandir Sahib is not a private temple but a temple for the nation. Odho saareh nation da Gurdwara nai siga jado attack kitha? Jado Akal Takht Sahib nu destroy keetha? Wasn't it the whole nation's temple? Truth is, these people do not consider Harmandir Sahib Ji the nation's temple. No Gurdwara, Mosque or Church is considered "National religious place." Only a Hindu Mandir is a national temple according to these people.

Harmandir Sahib is a Sikh Gurdwara. Yes anyone and everyone is allowed to worship. But in essence, Harmandir Sahib Ji is Sikh Gurdwara belonging to a Sikh Community. This is definitely a private matter.

OMG they made a huge deal about General Brars "attempted assassination." Its such a joke that this has become such a big deal. Making mountains of molehills.

In the second video, the glasses guy keeps twisting Kiranjit Kaur's words.

Glasses Guy: "Are you worried about something?"

    Kiranjot Kaur: "No.. I ..."

(Interrupts her) Glasses Guy: "Are you scared about something?"

Glasses Guy: "Are you therefore indirectly supporting them?"

    Kiranjot Kaur: "No.. I .... I ..."

    (interrupts her again)

And this bandar keeps asking the same question about "honoring assassins of General Vaidya"

Where is this terrorism that they talk about? I don't see it. I see Sikhs voicing their concerns. Not terrorism.

  9. then he says about grbani saying before the sun and the moon, there was no tim.. when scienc and us, both kno that there were!

Well how could there be time before the universe was created? Our time is based off of the Earth's rotation around the sun. Besides that point I'm a little confused how could time exist when sun and moon didn't exist?
