  1. fateh ji

it wasnt a namdhari who sed that to me it was an amritdhari singh with all white clothes he said guru gobind singh told sikh to wear white and not blue is there any line in bani which tell you about colours?

Never judge a person by how they look. What makes you think God will judge you otherwise? Its your qualities and traits as a person that matter.

Please make use your own brain and not others.

  2. i was at the gurdwara today and i was in my blue banaa(cholaa) and blue dastaar and a singh came up to me and said that sikhs should not wear the colour blue as guru gobind singh ji said theat the khalsa isnt allowed to wear blue, has any 1 got any written evidence that the colour blue can be worn (e.g guru granth saihib ji or other bani or rehatnamas) the singh said that a khalsa should only wear white clothes and not blue

Holy <admin-profanity filter activated> the topics just get dumb and dumber. Its not some rocket science. If you still need clarification, OFCOURSE YOU CAN WEAR BLUE.

If you are caught up in such misconceptions, ofcourse people will question Sikhism, the modern and scientific religion.

  3. No offence Singh but are we just running out of topics? We've been through the kachera topic, and now this. I'm assuming the idea for this topic came from that one. Just the karda and kanga topics remain now.

Some have suggested me that I should just wear a patka, but then why dont we just wear a patka through the day, then other have said saroopa then y don we just wear that through the day.

Why don't we wear our pajamas in the day? Why is the color of the sky blue?

Lets make the best use of these forums with legitimate and intellectual topics for a change.

So can you please tell me how you taking care of your hair at night, or your identity?

Kurdi wahlaya nay raat nu dekhan aohna? Relax, don't lose sleep over it.

  4. This condition is that the most important thing is probably a deeper education and understanding of sikhi for all of us. This is crucial in keeping discipline from becoming ritual. When we don't understand enough of why we do something it becomes a ritual to feed insecurities.

    Very educated reply!

  5. vaheguru!!

Kakkar is liek an ang to us .. if we remove our kara ... is it not liek removing an ang ... same with kachera!! ... its not a little thing...

    I agree kakkars are important.

guru ji gave the kakkars to us .. and told us not to remove them

and if they get removed then ... pesh is gna have to be needed right ?

Your quote is ambigious. Under what circumstances are we not allowed to remove them?

Think outside the box. We should be rational and logical as Sikhs. Thats why we're considered a modern and scientific religion. Afterall thats what really seperates us from most religions.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji showed the importance of rational thinking, when he was in Hardwar and the Hindu bathing there were "giving" water to the sun. So to show them how irrational that was, Guru Ji started "giving" water to his fields. And when the priests all laughed at that, Guru Ji replied, my fields are much closer than your sun.

Its different when you take it off just because you think a kachi is more comfortable, lol.

But wheres the logic behind going and getting pesh for removing your kachera for something you must do.

I think most people go get pesh for such things so they can tell others. Why? you may ask. Because it leaves a perception of them, with people, as being "hardcore" Sikhs.

  6. I don't think you should just get up and goto your local gurdwara to get pesh for little things of this nature.

Do you think Guru ji can't comprehend under which circumstances it was removed?

Why are we so bothered about righting a wrong like removal of kacheray when we arn't so bothered about moral purity. We lie countless times a day, do we go get pesh for that for every single lie? Now tell me is lieing worse or removing your kachera? It seems very superstitious and irrational.

I think getting pesh has just become a formality for many people.

I highly doubt in the end your going to lose points for you removing your kachera vs lieing, and etc.

  7. this gursikh told me that baba jarnail singh ji,and bhai surinder singh ji would go in some room at mehta, and baba jee would start doing chaupai sahib jee day paath and bhai sahib would walk through the walls takin secret note to the bloddy indra and no-one would know where the notes came from. wjkk wjkf

I'm not sure how much truth there is to that.

  8. She herself finds sikhhism far too man made and a bit of a boys club, which is really what its become even if that may not have been the original intention of its founder ??....

And if that was it's original intention, then who can blame her for wanting out and freedom from it all cool.gif

You guys are just skewing too much of the facts in your favor.

First let me answer the thing about her parents choice being unemployed.

    1) Have you met him? Until you havn't met him you can not conclude that.

    2) Your girl said so. Her opinion of this guy was biased even before her first meeting with him.

Conclusion: His employment status is undetermined.

Now let me answer to "Sikhism is a bit of a boys club."

    1) Thats a pretty strong statement for a guy whose firsthand information on Sikhism comes from his girlfriend.

    2) Is your girlfriend a priest?

Conclusion: Don't disrespect a religion to justify personal situations.

Heres some statistics from the CIA World Factbook maybe her parents considered as well, if you want to look into this with more detail (or confirm) perhaps the boys club here at SikhSangat may not mind pitching in and sending you a copy free of charge.

    Divorce Rate per 100 people

    White (British) - 42.6

    Indian - 0.005%

PS. Ill autograph you the copy :TH:

  9. Microsoft did at one time have it's own flavour of Unix called Xenix in 80's, but sold it off to SCO which co-developed with IBM too add some AIX extensions - later another linux company called Caldera bought out SCO and renamed itself to SCO Group and took IBM to court in a lawsuit - but what they forgot was that IBM had been working on Operating Systems like Unix well before the likes of Caldera ever knew what a computer screen looked like. Fools !!

    Ok rolleyes.gif

Nothing beats dual booting OS X (without emulation!) and Windows XP on a P4, I love it. The best of both worlds.

  10. Yea those are the guys hes talking <banned word filter activated> about, just because his ISYF buddies were most likely criticized by them.

Criticizing should be done where it needs to be done. Like I said before they criticize the very gurdwara committees that ask for them do programmes and conventions. They are truthful and open about things that need to be said. ISYF just couldn't take the heat.

  11. Try to get a SATA hard drive (serial ATA) as it has a higher data transfer rate than standard IDE and of course make sure your motherboard is SATA compatible.

LOL. Not even computer-pro's go into that much detail when purchasing a computer.

He/She isnt building a computer. The manufacturer obviously would make sure if they put a SATA drive in, that the motherboard will support it.
