  2. True amazing post bro. I was inspired by bhai rama singh ji, bhindranwale sant ji and maskeen ji before taking amrit. When I was told about stuff bout maskeen ji, it knocked me back a few months ago and I felt this void until I reread maskeen ji's books and confirmed how chardikala they singh sahib ji really were.

I can be an example who looks at these post and true does laugh at them with my younger bro....we're all hear to learn but rather than learn from a few the majority are abit of comedy mixed in with uhhhhhh...ohhh.....'here we go Againn'...... no.gif

I've been so busy with exam revision and noticed this topic first...and may have something to share with you.

Sister I've got a few hairs here and there and true say all girls with distaars get mistaken for guys...I used to even think they were guys before I started wearing my distaar.

I've got a really long hair on my chin, a moustach shape can be seen and the most hugest eyebrows..I havent seen on any bibi...LOLLLLLL. Me and my brothers jokes that Guru ji got the biggest black marker pen and made mines... LOL.gif ...

Bhenjee you say people laugh at you..WHY NOT just laugh at yourself sometimes...I do! It may be weird but at least that way I wont get depressed. At uni people when they come near see my one long hair and dont say anyhting..Why? cause I am popular with everyone because of my attitude of laughing at everything..they seee my personality before they see me and then put up with my look cause they hooked on my personality....

    Hope you gets me!

Please PM me whenever and we'll talk things over....but maybe I may not have alota religious type advice I'm abit wacko.gif ..lollllllll

Marriage..Penji Ive given up tryina please others..the first one I was introduced to a year ago had a problem with my hairy big toe..LOLLLLL! and the one I was set to marry I aint guna because we have major differences in spiritual areas and I think I made a wrong decision by selecting him...Penji we all single and proud and im 26!!!! maannnnn. Guru ji has made our risthe all ready..I do wonder when Guru ji'l introduce me my mr right! don't worry he'll there somewhere..lots of my friends with facial hair ARE happily married...one penji had lots of facial hair and her husband adores her..they always look soo happy together..vahegurooo.

    BTW....

    post-3641-1137836858_thumb.jpg

The moustache shape IS there but camrera lights can do wonders...lollll and the hair on chin is on the other side...I used to thread my moustache area like majority of girls out there and hair is coming back coarser but who gives a damn! it gets softer as it gets longer ive noticed though...so iz alll gooooddddd!

Vaheguruoooo ji ka khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki fateh penjeee...We Love Youuuuuuuuu!!!!! (sounds abit hippyfied but who cares...lollll!)

  11. Vaheguroooo. This is really sad to hear bhen. Youve got to some how present her with gurbani.....seee sikhi to the max and stuff and make her read what our Guru Sahib is saying. Gyan is needed.....educating about sikhi principles is needed.

Tell your mum to do paath if she can....sarb rog ka aukhad naamm....Gurbani is the true healer. Do Sukhamni Sahib da paath.

Aastha is doing a lot to turn attention of people away from sikhi....with all these so claled healers that come on.

  13. yeps read it earlier and was shocked by it.

Man some countries are seriously in need of a lesson about sikhi...who wants to go teach em. Maybe we need to design a real course that qualfied people take to these clueless places.... :)

They need our support..the dad seems adamant in not writing to anyone..so how wil the student/son be helped..what if next school says the same....

    vaheguroooo.

  14. (to the one dearest admin...lollllll........didnt know where else to place this topic/ question)

Smoking....nasha....amritdharis need to remain away from.

A very close friend smokes frequently throughout the day...we'll have lunch ...after which she needs to have a smoke or two...ive seen her go out 6 or 7 times in the day....

Now we have to work together on most things during lectures/tutorials and group work..she sits next to me often too. I say jokingly I don't wanna passive smoke man...its making me dizzy...but she can't exactly go away...we have to work together...shes a best mate.

Not an easy situation..when we're outside the building and waiting with a couple of my nonsmoker friends its okay..but in class and canteen....i worry about my kirpan etc  being in such close proximities of the smell of tobacco etc.

I'm not smoking...but can smell. I nearly actually felt weirded out once cause her smoke caught me in the face...and for a person that doesnt smoke its like a wake up alarm!

Any suggestions of keeping distance but still remaining close....Impossible yeps!

I'm suggesting she quits alllll the time...she cuts down sometimes but not altogether. She's a really really nice person at heart and one that can be turned away from that sort of life.......

don't even suggest dont be friends with her...thas not a option...

    146322[/snapback]

    dont be freinds with her.

it is an option, bcos inhaling smoke is not an option if u have took amrit. its a very big thing even if it is passive.

    146388[/snapback]

Its not passive at all...thats only happened once and I kinda put my foot down saying look man thas not on you got to stay away from me when ur doing that..since which she does smoke away....

im talking bout afterwards...should we still interact as friends...sometimes there is no tobacco smell sometimes there is. Funny moment once she smelt really bad and i lifted my chair and went 5 spaces away to sit with another girl...lollllll......luckily she didnt take offence. Sangat is everything i know that...apart from her all the rest are amazing freinds...but to say thas it no longer we're friends..that kills the whole circle of friends and life of classroom of peace.

maybe a sister may wanna share a view!

  16. waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ke fateh

Pyare jio, thank you veer namstang in proving someone can actually write 108 silly posts. It took some time but you have managed it.

Before answering your another unbelieavable post. I will just answer veer prabjyot singh quick question. What do AKJ reckon on Teja singh Bhausaria?

He will removed from the Panth for rejecting Bhagat bani. AKJ is a Panthik body, and as such they did not associate with him after. I never knew who Teja singh was until I come across anti-AKJ parchaar. It is a excuse people use to have a dig at AKJ when they nothing else to say. The only time Bhai sahib mentions him, is when whe writes to him to tell him to go pesh in front of the Akal thakht. If he went pesh and was forgiven, then good for him.

He had no influence on Bhai sahib at all. This is clear because in all of bhai sahibs books, all he mentions and references to is Gurbani. He never mentions any other name as a source or influence. He was a strong character who was solely influenced by Gurbani. Everybody knows that. It has been pointed out so many times.

Why mention Teja singh, why not baba Attar singh, or Baba Vaskaha singh or Akali kaur singh or Bhai Trilochan singh or Bhai Vir Singh? They were all contempories of Bhai sahib aswell. They do get mention because there is no mileage for these people in mentioning them.

Bhai sahib had only one influence and that was Gurbani. That is why his books are so good, because they are purely based on Gurbani.

AKJ has no influence of Bhai teja singh either. It follows Rehit as per its definition of Gurmat, and sings gurbani, and hence too is solely influenced by Gurbani.

But this topic has nothing to do with AKJ. AKJ supports keski/dastaar. It does not hide, and is proud of that. They are not the people with problems. They problems seems to be with those who are threatened by a keski.

Many youth who are non AKJ have also accepted the importance ogf keski/dastaar aswell.

Now getting to Veer namstang ji.

Veer ji, you call others taliban, fantical, etc. But veer you are the most fanatical of all. You are so fanatically against Keski/dastaar that you openly spread what is misinformation about to spread your hatred. You know the whole teja singh thing is meaning less, but continue to spew it out. You talk of love for all. But veer it is you hates your own sikhs. So many times you have talked so much rubbish about them. At first I always gave you the benfit of the doubt, but you keep time and time again coming out with the same rubbish, and worse still, you do it knowing it is rubbish.

If your sister does not wish to wear a dastaar, then fine. Nobody is forcing her. But why have you got such an issue with the thousands who do? Throughout the world thousands of bibian are wearing dastaars. They are all realising guru jis Roop, so why has your mind such an issue with it? Why do you insist they are taliban or fanatics. That is so offensive. They are spreading love with Guru Jis Roop.

You talk of nirmallas, but veer ji, you are not "nirmal" yourself? You are steeped in jealousy and hatred. Veer ji, learn from what you preach. There is no point doing "cut and paste" sikhi about spiritual stages, and love when you have no sehaj, and are drenched in such bad thoughts.

Veer ji, you endless mention 108 baba said this and that. Let me ask you. Is there anyone higher than Bhai Nand lal? He may not be from any sampradaya of yours, but he was definately a companion of Guru ji, and he has the status of having his writings equalled to Gurbani. Now please go through each one of his rehit namas in detail. Tell me how anyone can satisfy each and every rehitnama without fully without wearing a dastaar? simpy question.

Lastly, let me tell you something else. We do not wear keskis to reach sackhand. I do not, my wife does not, and even my 7 month daughter does not. We wear them to get the blessing of our Guru. We feel they are part of our Guru given saroop, and we wear them to please him. Nothing more and nothing less. Veer ji, you may say this person took his kirpan off, and that person took their kachara off and they went here and there. But veer ji, we wear them because we love our Guru. He has asked us to wear them, and we will never take them off. They are part of our saroop.

You see sachkhand is not an aim. Making my Guru happy is the aim. Sachkhand is a blessing, which he bestows. That is his chioce, when he wishes to bless his sikhs with. We just try and make him pleased with us.

My daughter is 7 months old. She wears a keski. A very small one, from maal maal. I thought she is too small, and maybe later in life. But when we went pesh, she wore it then. Since then whenever we take it off she cries, until we re-tie it on her. I was surprised at first. Now I just consider as a blessing that my child at 7 months already loves her keski. You see. We do things to make our Guru pleased, and our Guru contniues to make our lives happy and just like living in sachkhand.

Attached is a picture of my daughter. Bibi komal kaur. 7 months.

waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ke fateh.

    146211[/snapback]

What a beautiful singhneee.......veer ji shes adorable and in such chardi kala. May Guru ji's blessings remain forever on her. vahegurooooooooo.......awwwwwwwwwwwwweee........... blush.gif

  17. Please allow me to clarify a few things.

Bhai Daya Singh Rehat Nama is NOT written by Bhai Daya Singh who was in the original Panj Pyare. This Rehatnama is a late 18th century document. In the same way Bhai Nand Lal Rehatnama is not written by Bhai Nand Lal as the style of poetry does not match up and is of a low standard.

This does not mean that either are to be dismissed as they stand as documents of their time which explain what the Khalsa Rehat was at the time of writing.

With regards to women and Keski, it is clear that this is compulsory. The Puratan style for women's Keski is not a V-Style Dastar. The traditional style of Keski can be seen below in a photo of Bibi Amarjeet Kaur, Shaheed Bhai Fauja Singh's wife. This is the style that Bhai Daya Singh Rehatnama referrs to.

    bhai-fauja-singh.jpg

This is more inline with what Bhai Daya Singh was saying. Furthermore when we read Cunningham's description of Sikh women (Cunningham was a westerner who visited Panjab and wrote about what he saw), he states in "History of the Sikhs" in the appendix section:

"The Sikh women are distinguished from Hindus of their sex by some variety of dress, chiefly by a higher topknot of hair."

Lt Alexendar Burnes, writes his account even earlier in the 1800s in "Travels into Bokhara".

"We had now an opportunity of seeing the Seik ladies, who are not less peculiar in their appearance than their husbands. They knot the hair at the crown, and throw a white robe over it, which entirely envelopes the body, and gives a conical shape to the head. They pull up the hair so tight to form this knot, that the skin of the forehead is drawn with it, and the eyebrows are considerably removed from the visual organ. As may be imagined, this fashion does not improve their personal appearance, yet it is general amoung all classes of the females."

Looking at the picture of Bibi Ji it is clear what is being referred to. Puratan Sikh women tied their Jurra tightly (in this account so tightly their eyebrows were lifted!)  and added the Kangha at the back. They tied a small Keski on top (most likely white) and then a large white chunni on top. To westerners such as Burnes who saw them, it would appear as if they had a conically shaped head, with a large white robe on top.

This does not mean that women should not wear Dastar. Panth Parkash by Giani Gian Singh also describes Puratan Sikh women in detail:

"Adorning weapons, chakars and knifes they wore many [in their dumallas – high conical turbans]. Forty kilos of weapons and armour they adorned. Dressed alike were young and old women. They were strong, powerful and of great charity. Some wore dress of women. Five dressed like men [i.e. in full warrior dress]. Getting Singh and Singhnias ready thus. Sending one Sirdar with them, the Singhnia set off towards the royal palace. The powerful Singhs stood outside. All the royal women came out to see them. They [singhs] had great moustache and beards. Their eyes were full of rage and eyebrows greater. Wearing many weapons. Seeing their great form and beauty, they were as if incarnations of the warrior spirit. The Begams were astonished. Begams sent them [singhs] gifts. Saluting the Singhs, they sent them away. Then they looked at the Singhnia. They took them into their palace. They [singhnia] said, “Sat Siri Akal”. They replied “Salaam” and sat them down. Seeing their form and strong bodies. Dressed in armour and weapons. Listening to their conversation of plundering and war. And how to kill a hunt. And how to aim with bows and muskets. Hearing them, they were astonished. Under their ‘Salwars’ [trouser like garments], were ‘Kashehras’ [breeches]. Seeing their great clothes. Listening to their manly words. The Begams were astounded. The four Singhnia had a special female dress. They wore silver ornaments twenty pounds in weight. Seeing this they were awe struck. Their Salwars were twenty yard long. They wore heavy lower garments. Their top knots stood span and half high. Their Shmeezes were of special design. Their physiques were large and heavy. Seeing them the Begams were astounded because they stood unarmed and weak of body. Fearing the Singhnia they cowered to half their size. Then began discussion on religion. Singhnia dismissed all other religions. The traditions of Muslims [Turks] they called false. The way of Mohammed they said was full of faults. The Singhnia described all the atrocities of the Turks. Hearing them the Begams shuddered. Shocked they covered their mouths with their hands. Hearing of the chastity, sincerity and morals of the Singhs. The Begams spoke nodding their heads. “Singhnia you are of great fate. You move about with you husbands. We are pathetic and suffer greatly. Our life is like life imprisonment. One king has sixty wives. By marrying we are as if trapped in a trap”

When a woman takes Amrit she will have tie tie a normal style of Dastar so the top can be opened (referred to in Daya Singh Rehatnama). In the same way, when a man takes Amrit he cannot tie a conical high damala or his Kesh will be inaccessible. The above accounts make it clear that some of the Singhnia when going into battle wore "female dress" (salwar kameez) whilst others wore Chola. When going into battle women wore damala with many shasters, etc whearas at other times they would wear keski with chunni on top. There was clearly room for acceptable variation. Therefore, for a woman, either a Keski with a Chunni ontop (as can be seen with the older generation and old photos of Bibian of Akhand Keertanee Jatha) or a dastar of any style (damala, v style, gol style) is acceptable. To not wear a dastar is unacceptable for a woman. The Jurra must be on the top of the head as it is the "crown" and a Keski (as per 18th century texts such as Bhatt Vehis, Guru Kian Sakhian) is absolutely compulsory.

There is no real room for trivial argument on this issue, the facts are clear. Dastar is compulsory. Just because you yourself or someone close to you does not keep this Rehat, but keeps all the other Rehats, or does alot of Simran or Paath, does not make this particular loss of Rehat any more acceptable. If only Singhnia today were as proud as the Singhnia in the description by Giani Gian Singh. They had their full Khalsa form with Jurra ontop of their head and pride in their Saroop.

An embarassing fact is that out of all world religions, Sikhs have the worst male to female ratio in terms of population. Sikh women grow up without any proper identity and are confused with Muslim and Hindu women. If they stayed true to the form of Puratan Sikh women then this problem would not be so wide spread.

    145848[/snapback]

    very interesting.....thanx for sharing.

  18. I'm a singhnee who wears a distaar..you guys know that by now.

BUT I Agree.....ultimately if we look at all the facts and evidence the distaar is Not necessary..the evidence is there, what further proof is required....choosing to ignore won't change facts...we can all argue as much as we want.

My sisters that don the distaar are beautiful and so are the ones that don't...but I agree chunni...Just chunni alone is Not suffient coz it keeps slipping off....Joora is needed so that means covering it will also be required with chunni on top. However (playing devils advocate here..muhahha)....the bibi will not necessary be tyar-bar-tyar for battle coz will she look after the chunni or fighting the opponents.

It may come down to sharda..bibian wanting to and having the prem pyar to look like maharaj ji...'khalsa mero roop hai khaas' and wear the crown...I know I sure do. And its such a blessing to be able to wear the distaar.

But lets not knock those that don't. My mum doesn't wear a dostaar...she does waer patka and chunni. She's taght me a lot and I still learn from her.

vaheguroo. Ive been arguing both sides here....take your pick. Neither seems wrong...no use arguing.

  19. ...i think im a little grumpy today....after effects of flu probably..... blush.gif ...or maybe cause i couldnt get up at amritvela... no.gif :'(
