  1. 8.4 million incarnations != 8.4 million species. It is in gurbani, and it is not metaphorical. It's fact. There are 8.4 million reincarnations. Who's to say what counts as an incarnation and what doesn't? Fact of the matter is, there's alot we don't know, and one thing we wouldn't know, would be classification systems. However, we can deduce that Guru Ji was not referring to specific species, if we look at http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=2680

In particular, the second pauri, where Guru Ji talks of people going in and out of reincarnation, it is said, "As beasts, birds, stones and trees - their number cannot be known." Guru Ji did not name a specific genus of bird stone or tree. If species were equal to reincarnation, they would have been named.

All this metaphorical stuff needs to stop because all it is, is trying to make sikhi fit science.

  2. is it really worth it though? Torrents will only do well if you have alot of seeds constantly seeding and supporting peers. It really doesn't make sense if you think about it logistically. Say you release a torrent on a keertan site. For the first couple of days, it's going to take a while depending on how fast the original seed is. After those couple of days though, you'll be alright and the file will be out in the open. On the other hand, after a couple of weeks or months, then you're still going to be stuck with the same problem as before. That is, that there is only one seed distributing. Now, one could make the case that if more people download, the download will go faster, but that hinges on the download speed of peers, and once again comes back to the original problem. The more people that use torrents, the faster they'll go. And I can guarantee you that not everyone is cut out for torrents. Between confusing it with a one-way ticket to jail, an expected uneven seed to peer ratio, and lack of fully computer literate people using them, this is not the right time to introduce p2p to keertan sites.

  3. who the hell you callin a <banned word filter activated> man?

were all part of one family...SANJHA for gods sake man!

wers the love man...if this is gunna go on like this then can admin start thinkin of closin this down?

This is a two way street. This was not directed towards you, but nonetheless, calling people names will only result in the same. If anyone wants to be taken seriously, they have to come up with well thought out arguments that don't have name-calling or a bunch of, at best, rumors which have no fact behind them.

It is extremely frustrating to see people go around preaching ekta and at the same time slander a couple of groups, because that will do nothing towards actually including the groups, but just get the stragglers outside of any groups, and basically form another group which is dedicated towards destroying the other ones in the name of ekta. How is this going to create unity?

  4. I call B.S. This is all heresay without any actual proof, and furthermore, you guys are making huge snap judgements.

I Knw they r OTT and look down on people and r full of hate , But they wudnt go that low wud they?

Full of Hate? And going on the internet and calling them brahmins isn't full of hate? Stupid stuff like this always seems to send this forum more and more backwards, because no one can get over misconceptions and just get to know people. Suddenly, we're judging people based on Principles and not who they are. Are you serious? That means that just because one person believes something, no matter how good they are, you will shun them. That is a stupid, bigoted view. It's this kind of stuff that releases itself in the form of hate speech and rascism. The EXACT same ideology. If someone is a hindu, you're going to shun them just because they don't believe in your god? If someone is a muslim, you're going to shun them because they don't believe in Sikhi? This is irrational and will only serve to hurt us in the long run. You're advocating closing off Sikhi just as much as some guys who say they're AKJ say only AKJ is allowed to a Kirtan. For the Record, no true Singh would deny people from entering into a kirtan, no matter who they are, and if you look at the Jatha, you will find True Singhs. If you look.

In any case, as long as a couple morons are around labeling everyone and seperating them into groups, then this is just useless discussion. A couple of you have already come into this thread with preconceived notions, and have utterly slandered alot of people just based on the extreme actions of a few. Way to go.

  5. VJKKVJKF!

i think its time the sangat came to terms with the reality that we are living in an really start to undestand whats gwan in out youth and how to move forward!

    so here it is:

i have been to a few progs in the last cupla weeks right and i fink that the youth across the country is very face happy- and the meaning of this is the clash between AKJ and DDT and all these other jathay...

now i dnt want to cover old ground and bring up arguements of the past as this aint gunna affect jak bob didly skwat however what i will say is:

    1) akj singhs have got alot of irkha and hatred towards any of the other singhs...very prejudice and also very ignorant!

2)taksalis need to stop goin on long shot man

the reason why i am stating this is cuz...no matter what...sant alive or shaheed...raagmala baani or not...keski kakkar or not...we are all here for a purpose...the sikh panth is gunna endure some big stuff in the coming years and we are gunna need the equality to remain sane otherwise we have no help in hell that we are guna gain khalsaraj/khalistan/sikhraj. and the way to do this is simple as hell man!

    baani parau!

how many of us can honestly say that if tommoro mahraaj guru gobind singh jee came and sed i need your head that we would have the nitnem inside of us to do so....

after all mahraaj says Har Joo Harimandir Aaavehegeh!

so if this is the case then we shud live each day as if mahraaj is comin bak 2moz man!

and for those of u on a slightly higher level of thinkin yeh...try thinkin that mahraaj is at out local gurughars everyday man! where is our nitnem!

wats the point in being cowardly and showing things ontop when inside its a completely different story...wen will we have sanjha in thw panth...and for those who say ekta...i have heard them myself diss sant baba jarnail singh bhindranwale(my arguement is not for that this is juts a fact) and then say haa haa ekta chaheedeeyaa!

    wat is the point!

i know that everyone is gonna see bad in this post somewhere and i know that im probo gunna get banned and this gunna get closed...but my feelings are this and needed to be let out!

please forgive i am a meer meek morttal in the sactuary of mahraaj

    vjkkvjkf!

This helps no one, all you're gonna do is piss off akj and taksalis by making vast generalizations about them. Personally, I find this really horrible, because just by assosciating with one group or another, you are automatically written off as being this or that. It's disturbing that people will evaluate you based solely on the type of singhs you keep in your company. What about those people that just go to gurdwara to listen to kirtan? Are you going to write them off too because they went to a jatha kirtan?

why can't everyone just be part of ONE khalsa panth instead of being "akj' or "taksali" or "dodra" or watever :)

Because people classify other people as being akj or taksali or dodra. I'd wager that if you asked anyone, they'd say they're singhs, not AKJers or Taksalis or Dodraites. I find it highly unlikely that Jatha singhs or Taksali singhs would choose to isolate themselves from all types of sangat just because they don't believe the same stuff they do. If Sikhi was truly like that, then we never would have been able to survive in India, surrounded by different cultures and different religions.

  6. why? Because he has a different view? Because he was wronged? That's not good enough. If everyone that felt they were wronged by a mod was made into a mod, everyone would be a mod.

Randip singh totally stole a topic and took it in another direction. The topic was about subway, and to a lesser extent, bibek. And then he came in and started a meat debate. Quite frankly, I feel wronged becaue I was enjoying a fresh debate, and not the same old stuff about meat and what not. Should I be made into a mod?

  7. I think that simple proofs are in order. Now, considering that we know this is all a bunch of lies, it wouldn't be out of order to send around our own packet. If you follow the following links,

    http://searchgurbani.com/main.php?book=bha...=1&pauri=45

    http://searchgurbani.com/main.php?book=bha...=1&pauri=46

    http://searchgurbani.com/main.php?book=bha...=1&pauri=47

It's evident that Guru Nanak and Guru Arjan Dev Ji both shared the same essence. Anything one would say, would not contradict the other. Following up on this,

    http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=4065

We find that Guru Arjan Dev Ji proclaims he is not a Hindu or a Muslim. It follows that if Guru Arjan Dev Ji would say this, Guru Nanak Dev Ji would also say this.

Muslims and Hindus can say what they want, but the Gurus were ours, We're the Lucky ones.

  8. It is practically impossible to be bibek in western countries because of the modern advent of grocery chains. The same shops that take in vegetables and fruits take in other products like meat, and it's doubtful that the handlers would seperate the two, use gloves for one and not the other, and make sure that one never touches the other. Short of actually growing your own food (which is hard because you need farm land; not something that's readily available in western countries), you're left with the options of moving back to India where you can grow your own stuff, not eating anything at all, or accepting the predicament you're in, and doing the best you can do with what you have. In the end, who are we to say that we shouldn't eat at this person's place or that person's place because of who they are or what they believe, when the majority of food we're eating comes from people we don't know, who could be a million times worse? Now past hard evidence that these people are continually supplying their guru with money to convert and spread propoganda, is it that bad to eat at these people's shops?

  9. IE 7 in Windows XP doesn't hang for me, but it wouldn't let me post, saying there's an authorization failure, although I do have it virtualized using Parallels.

Opera 9 in Mac OS X 10.4.10 runs perfectly for me.

Everyone ignore the above post smart singh just wants everyone to use Opera he has been singing opera praises since the forum started rolleyes.gif

p.s. authorisation mismatch is one of those thigns that comes up now and then, so dont worry about it unless it happens all the time for u, then tell please let me know.

You're just in denial, like all the other firefox fans who claim it's the best, whilst overlooking the speedy, light, and easier Opera. It's alright, once 9.5 comes out of alpha, you'll want to switch :D

  10. My point is, is that we really don't need to care what other people do, because it doesn't affect us. If you're that worried about people leaving sikhi, then start by making yourself pure. Then others around you. Then the community around you. The tricky part is the first one, and knowing the difference between being pure and thinking you're pure. If you aren't pure, you have no business getting in other people's business.

  11. i can't remember where it was written, but Zafarnama has a specific form as it is a kind of poetry, and Guru ji used this form. I can't remember exact numbers, but there's supposed to be something like 64 couplets in praise of waheguru, 6 in praise of the enemy king, and other numbers that I can't remember.

There is a form to Zafarnama, and it isn't random praise.
