there could be millions of name suggestions. If you are asking for a name suggestion on a Sikh Forum then you should also know that according to Sikh Sanskars first Sanskar is taking Letter from Guru Sahib ji and use that letter to begin the name. Please get Hukamnama after the baby is born and then tell sangat the letter.
Mean while you can search Sikh Names from http://www.sikhwomen.com/SikhNames/0 -

Hello,
I've noticed a disturbing new fashion trend among young singhs.
It used to annoy me when I'd see young singhs with substantial dharis wearing patkas instead of proper pags. I don't get it. I think a patka with a beard looks sloppy, childish, and embarrassing. But many young men think a proper pagri makes them stand out more and wearing a patka helps them slip under the radar.
Now, many young men have taken it a step further. Patkas still make it a bit difficult to "hide" since the joora is sticking out on top. So the latest "innovation" is to tie the joora at the back of the head and then cover the head with a bandana.
This is just embarrassing.
Why are young Sikh men so ashamed of the traditional Sikh appearance? They'd rather look like a random guy with a dhari wearing a bandana than look like proper Singh.
In Punjab, men used to wear turbans with pride. A man's turban was his crown. Sikhs took pride in being recognizable rather than being able to go unnoticed.
It's sad to see young men so desperate to look like anything but a Singh. Who will respect the dastar when the very men who should wear it with pride run away from it?
Does anyone know where, when and why this trend started? What can we do to instill some pride in the youth?
Yeah, it's been happening for ages in India. I guess some of these guys are a bit young and are experimenting, lol. They'll mature and realise the folly of their ways.
In Canada you see it everywhere now. All over these guys have their patkas tied durag style and have fitted caps on top.
From what I've seen, most of these guys are wanna be gangsters. Just yesterday I saw a singh, if you can call him that, wearing a durag style patka, smoking next to his car with the speakers blasting music.
He was very cool......
I saw it myself last summer in Delhi. You can't even tell if the dude is a Sardar or a Muslim. Getting funny looks from Hindus when I had a dumalla on was expected, but it was interesting to get them from these "Sardars" too. Or maybe its just me, outright ugly! :D
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..........him.............that cats name is.... Honey I aint never coming back..............he runs the south coast pre-schools with lil bear...............selling that cake is good chedda............get them pre-school kids hooked on chocolate bars.
They stuck on the question...........to be or not to be..........
Hmm ... I was aware that there were Singhs wearing patkas and sometimes covering them with caps (usually the "urban" Sikhs in Delhi ... Sikhs living in rural areas would get ridiculed for dressing like that)
However, I did not know that they wore their jooras at the back
It's not just wanna-be gangsters now!
I've lots of Singhs who don't portray themselves as gangsters at all dressed like that, especially in England!
yup kids at my school do this, they wanna be kale. some even have ears pieced!
Low self-esteem
yea they just try to act like a kala or (FOB)
and all try to act tough and wanna be gangsters
LOL
I know a guy who ties his joora at the back and wears a bandana...
He looks like a pirate, or a ninja turtle.
At least they still keep their kesh and have some loyalty to Sikhi. A patka is a just a small keski after all, I dont really know what the big deal is. A patka takes about three seconds to put on compared to a dastaar which takes alot longer. It is more secure, more practical, more comfortable and less likely to fall off when doing physical activity or in a fight for example.
Dont get me wrong, the dastaar is what it should be. Dastaar is the crown of a Sikhi and looks better. However, peoples reasons for choosing to wear a patka from a practical perspective does not seem absurd to me.
incorrect a dastaar tied correctly shouldnt really be coming off your head easily
patka i think is fine if your going gym or footy but otherwise should be a dastarr
You are right that they are still keeping their kesh. Wearing a patka or bandana is not a violation of the Sikh religious code. I wear a patka when I'm exercising (but never at any other time).
However, they are running away from the typical Sikh look and trying to "hide". It makes it look like they are ashamed to be Sikhs with uncut hair and that they are trying to disassociate themselves from other keshdhari Sikhs. It makes them look like they have low self-esteem, and it reinforces the notion that sardars are unattractive and that the sardar "brand" (as you put it some time ago) is not something one would want to be associated with.
When a Sikh wears a nicely tied pag, it says that he/she is proud to be Sikh and wants the whole world to know it. I think if you are going to be a Sikh with uncut hair, you should go all out and do it right.
LOL one reply to you all
here is the video where u can see those ninja turtles lollllllllll
ps: a really nice movie coming out...

Han:
Guru Sahib Ji apne darshan de rahe HAN.
Guru sahib Ji are giving his darshan.
Raagi Singh kirtan kar rahe HAN
Raagi Singhs are doing kirtan.
So it looks like is present continuos tense.
Also HAN is used for plural but also used for singular when you try to show respect.
HAI:
Eh Ki ho reha hai?
What is this happening.
Ajj Bahut garmi hai.
It is very hot today.
Hai = IS
SAN
San is used in past tense.
Also used for plurals for eg:
Bachey Gursikhi baaney vich Bahut hi sundar lag rahe SAN.
Children were looking very lovely in Gursikhi bana.
Now for singular:
Guru Nanak Dev Ji kirtan kar rahe SAN.
Guru nanak Dev Ji was doing kirtan.
So for guru sahib Ji's respect we say kirtan kar rahe San instead of saying kirtan kar rahe si. Both are correct when when you are writing you use SAN instead of SI.
If anything is unclear please do not hesitate to ask again.

Here is one strong reference.
With our impure conscious it's very hard for us to concentrate on naam. The whole purpose if naam simran is to clean our dirty vikaari mind or mann. Then a stage comes when ur mind becomes pure and u connect to god easily without any special effort because your consciousness becomes pure and at that stage which the according to the above example just like the clothes stained with blood are impure then now can a body and the soul and its consciousness be pure? It will give birth to more vikaars and you will be stopper by them to meditate on naam. This level we cannot experience yet because our manns are yet very dirty. We have vikaars already sticked to us and if we keep polluting our soul with this impure food we will never get to that point.

Alcohol is a natural by-product of anaerobic fermentation. Chances are pretty good that you are consuming some alcohol when you eat dhaee (yogurt).
Sikhs are not supposed to drink alcohol because it alters your state of mind, and once again leaves no room in your consciousness for God.
Alcohol is not toxic in itself, but too much alcohol is.
Too much vitamin A can also be toxic, but it is not inherently a toxic substance.
I respect you for the understanding you have about alchohal and I wont hesitate to call u brother and i will say trust me same is the case with meat. Ur medical knowledge is good but u also need to read spiritual life stories of sant/mahapurashs who knows how meat is a big hindrance between us and God. U simply cannot walk on Gurmat path with meat and u should listen to Guru Sahib and do not think that your medical knowledge is above than anyone. Guru Sahib made us and he is forbidding us from eaiting meat. Story ends here. Now its ur choice what you like to do. Listen to Guru and accept his hukam or keep thinking about ur canine.

u are talking about human nature???
humans rape and nothing goes wrong with their reproduction system
humans steel and nothing happens to their hands
humans lie nothing happens to their tounges
humans kill other innocent humans and they live freely
so what are you talking about human digestive system here?
just because humans have so many abilities to do things does not mean they are supposed to do all of them. same with ur canine.

I like my meat well done, so I don't think I will be trying to eat live animals any time soon. Lol.
Mainu nah puch. Avdeh dentist nu puch lae, "Why do we have canine teeth?"
In the animal kingdom, the only animals that have canine teeth are those that eat flesh.
haha thats a ridiclous answer. I am surprised that all of sudden ur logics became so weak. you dnt need canine teeth to eat cooked meat. thats the dumbst answer i ever read lol

You are referring to the lines by Bhagat Kabir. He was criticizing the practice of Halaal meat preparation. They slit the animal's throat and slowly let it bleed to death, while they recite a prayer from the Quran. That is why he asks " Would you slit your own throat, to have meat with your bread?"
Killing in the name of God is never a righteous action. If it was, then all butchers would be mahapurakhs, as Kabir ji has said.
Can you please provide that hukamnamma? I have never come across it.
As far as I know, Akal Takht does not prohibit meat eating. They only prohibit halaal meat (and kosher meat defacto).
bhagat kabir ji also says
Jo Sabh Mehi Eaek Khudhaae Kehath Ho Tho Kio Muragee Maarai ||1||
You say that the One Lord is in all, so why do you kill chickens? ||1||
Bhai Gurdas ji says:
Maas Khaani Gali Chhuree Day Haalu Tinaarhaa Kaounu Aloaa.
But what will be the plight of those who cutting the throat with knife eat flesh (of animal).
also
Maasu Khaani Gal Vaddhi Kai Haalu Tinaarhaa Kaounu Hovasee.
I think about the plight of those who cut the throat of others and eat their flesh.
Guru Arjun Dev Sahib ji Maharaj says:
Gaibaan Haivaan Haraam Kusathanee Muradhaar Bakhoraae ||
Like a goblin, or a beast, they kill and eat the forbidden carcasses of meat.
Dhil Kabaj Kabajaa Kaadharo Dhojak Sajaae ||2||
So control your urges, or else you will be seized by the Lord, and thrown into the tortures of hell. ||2||
Bhai Gurdas ji Again:
Seeh Pajootee Bakaree Maradee Hoee Harh Harh Hasee.
A goat was caught by a lion and while about to die, it gave out a horse laugh.
Seehu Pouchhai Visamaadu Hoi Itu Aousari Kitu Rahasi Rahasee.
।
The surprised lion asked why it was so happy at such a moment (of its death).
Binau Karayndee Bakaree Poutr Asaaday Keechani Khasee.
Humbly the goat replied that the testicals of our male progeny are crushed in order to castrate them.
Ak Dhatooraa Khaadhiaan Kuhi Kuhi Khal Oukhali Vinasee.
We eat only wild plants of arid regions yet our skin is peeled and pounded.
Maasu Khaani Gal Vaddhi Kai Haalu Tinaarhaa Kaounu Hovasee.
I think about the plight of those (like you) who cut the throat of others and eat their flesh.
Garabu Gareebee Dayh Khayh Khaaju Akhaaju Akaaju Karasee.
The body of both of the proud and the humble will become dust ultimately, but, even then the body of the arrogant (lion) is inedible and that of the humble (goat) attaims the status of edible.
Jagi Aaiaa Sabh Koi Marasee ॥17॥
All who came to this world have to die ultimately.
this is challenge of gurbani to all those who are like you.

oh tu rehnde bhai,
if ur canine teeth are meant to tear flesh then jump on a lion or even try a goat if u r scared of a lion and tear it apart with ur canine and eat it without cooking like animals do. I bet u cant even do this to a rat.
In gurbani Human is called BANDA and banda is meant to do bandgi not eat jaanwar like jaanwars with canine.Han ji,
I was speaking from a Sikh point of view.
We don't cut our hair because god has given it as a gift to all humans. With the same logic, God has made humans meat eaters. We have canine teeth, meant for tearing flesh.
1 -
She gave a good explanation.
I wonder why all of these veg vs non-veg threads are started by veg people?
Human are omnivores. We evolved to eat plants and animals. This is how God has made us.
we are talking abouts sikhs here not just humans. humans do a lots of things.

Ki kariye Hun ena da.
This video is going viral on Facebook and who loves meat eating are sharing it on their walls and misguiding others who do not eat meat. And people are getting confused and thinking that eating meat is fine for Sikhs.

na u have wrong definition of kachi pakki
kachi that connects u to kachey bandey
pakki thats connects u to pakka parmatama
so anyting sung toward waheguru is pakki bani. anything that makes us forget waheguru and think about other things is kachi bani for eg. songs etc.
there are 2 different styles of kirtan,
in old times sant mahapurashs used to do dharna style kirtan which actually could be considered as katha of gurbani in kirtan form.
When a kathavachak does katha of gurbani, he explains gurbani by adding his own words to simplify it more.
same is dharna kirtan simplifying gurbani for preaching purposes and at the same time make sangat sing the virtues of waheguru.
this kachi pakki bani is missionary agenda tomake people go against sant mahapurashs who did a lot of parchar back in the days.
but here case is little bit different, this kirtania is doing proper maryada kirtan but adding those two lines just for the composition. and those two words are random from the shabad. you could repeat the words if they are in the same pankti but u cannot pick random words from different pankti.for eg.
JITHE JAYE BAHE MERA SATGURU SO THAN SUHAVA RAM RAAJEY
GURSIKHI SO THAAN BHALEYA LAI DHOOR MUKH LAWA .... DHOOR MUKH LAWA
1 -
absolutely wrong. he cannot add that word "sakhi main" like that.
although he might have tremendous classical music knowledge that doesn't mean that he can mould gurbani to fit in his compositions.

could we have a spiritual section added in this section and if possible move all serious spiritual questions asked on this forum to that section slowly by the help and efforts of other members. I am requesting this because I someone who is really interested in learning and knowing more about spirituality from SIKHi prospective. I recommended him sikhsangat forum but it seems like he already tried many sikh and other religion spiritual forums and he gets more satisfying answers from religion forums. He mentioned that on Sikh forums if you ask a question or tell your problem, you are told to do ardas. No doubt its the powerful thing but he wants to know more about the reasons according to Sikhi. I told him that there are many gupt gurmukhs who have high avastha (spiritual level) but they do not use internet to post stuff. But my request is that why cant we help this person who wants to know things threw SIKHI. Can we help him somehow? if I receive positive replies on this topic I will pass this thread to him.
