  1. Do what you want to do its a learning curve....be sure to read the Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the only advice i can give. Remember there is a difference between chanting and meditation on waheguru mantra. It seems you need spiritual knowledge. Any subject in this world need learning about and education. Similarly you need to educate yourself about spirituality God existence etc

if only it was that easy that somebody could wave a wond and awaken your mind. Sorry its not that easy. Secondly will you be able to handle the spiritual awakeniong or will you go mad because it does happen. Therefore only a step by step process is sensible.

What many people don't realise and especially Sikhs is that spirituality is meant to change you. So your no longer the teenager you was or the person you was a year ago. The change in personality and character is the only indication of successful spiritual achievement ie getting closer to God. Introspection is what is needed, meditation and stillness of mind. Kundalini process will happen itself as stated in the Guru Granth Sahib. Many white people and europeans have a thirst to learn about indian spiritual philosophy but get drawn under the shelter of fake Guru's who can offer them nothing. Osho and Sai Baba and the recent one who faces rape cases are classic examples.

It is for this reason that the last physical Guru of the Sikhs gave the Guruship to the holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib which contains all the guidance mankind needs inorder to learn about spirituality, existence and merger with the God

Yeah, I know that kundalini is strong, so there is no joking around with it. Therefore I will prefer this slow way. I was just interested on that Question so I decided to ask.

  2. I have recently found out about shaktipat kundalini awakening, which means that some sort of spiritual "guru" awakens your kundalini. I noticed that those "gurus" are always hindus, If I want to awaken my kundalini with shaktipat is it wrong? I mean is it will of waheguru? or should I awaken it with chanting wahegurus name?

And if I awaken it with shaptikat method, is there some sort of hindu deitys involved on that awakening? and if I awaken it with shaktipat does my kundalini courages me to go into hinduism or does it matter at all who/how/what religious practice I use to awaken it?

  3. So as you can see from topic title, I am struggling between sikhism and christianity atm. I have raised in christian family and everytime I try to "connect" with guru I remember things from my past what father have said about other religions: "you will never find peace from any other religion, they are from satan..." etc.... It haunts me SO much. Only thing I "desire" in this life is Love and happiness, thats all.

For example when I chant shabads I can almost feel the presence of guru, when im starting to feel gurus love and joy etc. That moment is ruined by my fathers thoughts what he have said to me.... "Other religions are from satan, only christianity will bring you true peace" - yet I havent felt anything spiritual in christianity..... even I have been in church countless times.

How to get rid off past religious beliefs? how I am going to find happiness as sikh?

It is so frustrating when I am doing even small amount of progress to my path of sikhism and then my fathers "seed of hate and hesitation" starts to affect in my mind.

EDIT: My mind is also strongly haunted by my father "dreams from god". He once saw a dream where Jesus said to him that I am lost case - that my soul is condemned to hell aldready, for worshipping other/"false" gods (waheguru, krishna etc.) This is one of thought that I cant get rid off...

    offtopic:

I have also been struggling alot with Question "what is meaning of my life". I feel so useless and worthless. I have asked it and tried to find it trought many religious point of view but I still cant see it. I have heard and read alot meaning of life in "common" like live in peace and love etc.... but how I am able to live in peace and love, without getting peace and love from god himself? its imbossible to spread it if you dont have it.

  4. I dont myself believe that our destiny is written. I mean that would be SO unfair. I believe myself that god is merciful and god will give us chance to come to him and be saved.

    and what comes to:

"Don't love your parents, wife, children, only love god.",

I think that means we have to love god more than our parents, wife and childrens. Which sounds pretty logical, since god has created us.

  5. you can always come to UK :-)

Money is problem, I quited studying in school because I had depression. So finding job is very hard - without education. Sure there is good sides aswell, like I have alot more time to sacrifice to my spiritual path :p

  6. Genie my friend, I'm afraid you are wrong, the Hindu gods actually do exist as mentioned in JapJi Sahib. But we as Sikhs are not supposed to pray to them. There is a difference between believing in (as in believing if they exist) and not believing in them as in not believing that you have to pray to them.

If God is one, what is problem to worship hindu "gods"? for example chanting their mantras, I dont see anything bad in it.

Everyday when I read more about sikhism, I become more and more confused O_o

  7. ^^

    there's no Satan.

It's actually "Kalyug" - period where "maya" is prevalent. "Maya" is the "illusion" (thinking world and wordly things are permamnent and we can be happy by attaining them). It has satanic aspects like vices - jealousy, show-off, hatred, hunger for power, wealth, fame, other temporary wordly desires, having no compassion & respect for other and forgetting God and doing all wrong deeds under the influence of power, greed, anger, lust and attachement of wordly things.

And one's own mind is the biggest Satan, If you can conquer your own mind and surrender to God's will, means you've won over Satan

Ahh, well seems like I've got it wrong. I personally believe that there is Satan.

No bro, no such thing as satan in Sikhism. When sri guru nanak dev ji talks about satan in scriptures he is talking to muslims mostly to fix up because they believe in that sort of thing so for them to listen to his message he has to use terms things they understand and similarly when he talks to hindus in scripture he talks about hindu gods ram, krishna, brahma, etc these gods dont exist they are metaphors for the qualities of God an for hindus to understand the message of the Guru these terms are used. So since you was a christian for you to understand Sikhism and guru ji's message you can relate when he talks abt satan. There is no such dark character in Sikhism unlike abrahmic religions, Sikhs believe there is dark thoughts and dark energies that you can chose to be good or bad those who chose bad thoughts bad actions will suffer in this life and the next. Those who choose good thoughts and good actions will be liberated after this life is over.

Well, where these "Dark energies" comes from, if not from Satan?

  8. we don't believe in satan (or a devil figure) though, do we?

There is alot scriputres about Satan in Sri Granth, like this one:

"Cursed are the lives of those who read and write the Lord's Name to sell it.

Their crop is devastated - what harvest will they have?

Lacking truth and humility, they shall not be appreciated in the world hereafter.

Wisdom which leads to arguments is not called wisdom.

Wisdom leads us to serve our Lord and Master; through wisdom, honor is obtained.

Wisdom does not come by reading textbooks; wisdom inspires us to give in charity.

Says Nanak, this is the Path; other things lead to Satan. "

Since Nanak have said this, there is Satan. By denying it, you deny pretty much existence of waheguru aswell.
