  1. If there is one thing that can be learnt is that there should be a level of self-sufficiency.
  2. If and when Russia hits us in the west with sanctions, this type of bakwaas is going to end very quickly. Petrol/gasoline prices going through the roof and heating costs are going to go up considerably. We have been pampered for the last few decades.
  3. They are God's (sorry G-d 's) chosen people after all.
  4. Only the white countries putting on sanctions. The rest of the world are indifferent or are secretly siding with Russia.
  5. There is another interesting guy on youtube called Scott Ritter. He is a former US military guy that lived in Russia. He gives good insights.
  6. Financial Sanctions on Russia: https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/visa-suspends-operations-russia-over-ukraine-invasion-2022-03-05/ All this will do is force a decoupling of the US based international system to an alternative. If the military action ends, expect warfare to carry on in different ways
  7. The Slavic Russians were under the control of the Turkic/Mongol hordes for centuries and they have some mixture in them.
  8. There is a lot of animosity between East Europeans. It makes the subcontinent look like a picnic. The Poles hate the Russians who like the Serbs who hate Croats, Bosnians, Albanians,Bulgarians and Hungarians. The Hungarians hate the Romanians and don't like the Slovaks. The Poles like the Lithuanians and the Ukrainians who are united in their hatred for the Russians. If you ever meet an ethnic Russian from Latvia/Estonia/Lithuania they are pro-Russian. When the UK entered WW2, we are told it was because Germany invaded Poland and the western powers did nothing for Czechoslavakia when the Germans invaded it (Germans did it because of Sudenland which had a lot of Germans). What they don't tell you is that Poland took a chunk of Czechoslavakia, so they were with Germany. What they also don't tell you that is when Poland got invaded, the Soviet Union invaded Poland as well and Poland was carved up between the 2.
  9. If you recall that Putin mentioned about the "de-nazification ", I wonder what he has in store for them. I watched a documentary of Soviet invasion of Berlin during WW2. The Nazis had checkpoints and snipers every where and the Soviets went in and took street by street. There was hand to hand combat, the Soviets were de-capitating Nazis with shovels. Putin sees it as an existential threat. He will be brutal with the neo-Nazis. However, apparently Chechen Muslim fighters have been brought in to take on the Neo - Nazis and the Neo-Nazis are dipping their bullets in pig fat in preparation.
  10. That is a possibility. There are probably 3 options for Ukrainians and they will likely happen at once: - Surrender - Absorption of Ukrainian troops back into the public - Fight to the last man
  11. Putin sees himself as a Tsar.
  12. Yes, ICBM. Inter Continental Ballistic Missile. But I guess you would not want short range missiles either. Not a miltary man but I guess it would be like someone holding a gun to your head and someone trying to shoot from a distance.
  13. One of the tricky dilemmas in this conflict is that Russia sees NATO as a threat because they do not want bordering countries having missiles pointing at them. There are 3 Baltic countries (Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia ) that border Russia and are part of NATO. That is why they prefer to have Ukraine neutral because it will act as a buffer state. On the western borders of Ukraine you have Poland, Romania, Slovakia etc who are all NATO members. So I can see this from Russia's point of view. However, from Ukraine's point of view, they are an independent sovereign country and should be free to move their country. If they feel that they want to join the EU or NATO, they should be free to do so. But this is where US hypocrisy comes in. In 1823, the US have had something called the Monroe Doctrine where they vowed that no foreign power should have presence in the Western hemisphere other than themselves. When.Cuba became communist in 1958 under Fidel Castro they became chummy with Soviet Union. In 1962, Soviet Union planted some missiles in Cuba. Cuba is like 90 miles away from Florida and US found this very threatening. This is called the Cuba Missile Crisis. There was almost WW3 then. Now if Russia or China planted missiles in Canada or Mexico, would the US like it? They won't, so how would they expect Russia to react? This is something we as Sikhs may need to ponder if we ever get our own homeland. If we became chummy with China and they wanted a base with missiles pointing at India for example.
  14. It's a shame, that US elites have trillions of dollars but cannot use that money to rebuild the US infrastructure like roads, railways, airports etc and provide jobs for the average Joe in the US.
  15. I think what the US loves to do is invade and bomb a country and then bring in the big US businesses to rebuild those countries. I think this is what they call Military Industrial Complex.
  16. Watching some analysis on the Russian advancements. The Russian way of doing things is very different to the American way of doing things The Americans will utilise their air superiority and bomb the sh1t out of everything. Power supplies, communications, water supplies all go down. The Russians will plod along in their tanks and encircle the city. When they meet resistance, they move back. So they can encircle a city but be 20-30 km away and lay seige until their opponents surrender. They call it the "cauldron effect". But you will also note that the Russians if they chose to could bomb all the infrastructure but the Ukrainians have their power supplies, water, communications and all their local government structures in tact. That is why in the western media, it seems that Ukrainian people are winning and rolling back the Russian troops, but that is what is not happening. The Russians are being methodical and careful in not creating any power vacuums like the Americans did in Iraq. The propaganda war is being won by the west but the actual war is being won by the Russians. If some of the military analysis is correct, the Russians are in a position that it will encircle 50-60 thousand Ukrainian troops. If these troops surrender, it would effectively be game over for the Ukrainians.
  17. Please use Punjab based and Panthic based news on a separate thread. Otherwise we divert threads. This thread is for events on Ukraine, unless there are Sikhs impacted in Ukraine, we should not be bombarding screenshots from twitter, otherwise discussions get lost Thanks
  18. You can usually tell the difference between Russians and Ukrainians by their names got the most part. Ukrainians typically end with -ko, so for example Klitschtko, Shevchenko etc Russians tend to end with -ov like Checkov, Volkov etc. This is a general rule but there are exceptions. Ukrainians and Russians are Slavs. Slavic names also end with -sky/ski and -vic/vich, -ev
  19. I worked with an Apna who went on a stag do in Riga, Latvia. The reason was that booze in Prague got expensive and the Baltics was cheaper.
  20. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ihor_Kolomoyskyi This is Zelensky's oligarch backer who funded the neo-nazi groups like Azov Battalion. Zelensky is a puppet. Also, 2/3rds of Zelensky cabinet is Jewish apparently.
  21. I had some friends that went to Ukraine about 10 years ago. They travelled all over Ukraine. When they went to Lviv (Western Ukraine), they discovered that the locals hate Russians and if you spoke Russian, you won't be served in restaurants even though they can speak Russian. Lviv was a Polish city in the past and the Poles have no love for the Russians. There is a Russian-Ukrainian divide. Crimea and the Don bass region is really Russia and I suspect that other Southern and Eastern parts are as well. The Dnieper river seems to be the divide between the 2 Slavic groups. I wonder if there is going to be a partition of the country.
  22. Russian Cats have been banned from Cat competitions. Russian students are being kicked out of universities for being Russian. In the FIFA video game, Russian teams are being removed. Books written by Russian authors are being removed by certain universities. The Russians are really being ostracised.
  23. According to some reports. Zelensky has given 10,000 AK-47s to the Ukrainian public. Apparently, most of these weapons are now in the hands of local gangsters and there are shoot outs between gangsters in Ukraine.
  24. If you want perhaps a more accurate depiction on the ground of what is happening. Google Gonzalo Lira. He is stuck in Kyiv.
