Well wait no further, Waterloo SSA is organizing their SECOND ANNUAL Sikh Youth Camp!!! I’m sure most of us probably went to a few Gurmat Camps in our time, and in the end, it was all well worth it, RIGHT? Friends were made, bonds were created, and oh yah WE LEARNED SOMETHING! Now, it’s time for our younger brothers and sisters to experience the same. Please make the effort to pass the message along to parents, brothers/sisters, cousins, nephews/nieces, even your 'gwandii'. Mark your calendars. Ready, Set, SIKHIIIII!!!!! WHEN: June 29, 30 & July 1st WHERE: Kitchener Gurughar COST ??? IT'S FREE !!! AGES: 6 to 18 CAMP STARTS 12PM FRIDAY !!!!! This Sikh Youth Camp has been designed to bring the Youth together to share knowledge of Sikhi and to promote Sikhi to our future. It will be run by qualified individuals from the University of Waterloo as well as other participating Universities all over Ontario. This camp is by the Youth, for the Youth. Working together we shall achieve an important element in Sikhi, which is Sangat. Included in the Sangat your child will have, are inspiring role models who are enthusiastic about instilling the Sikhi spirit within these young minds. *****THE CAMP WILL END ON SUNDAY WITH A KEERTAN STARTING AT 1PM !!!!***** The youth are expected to stay at the Gurughar during the whole duration of the Camp. No late registrations will be accepted. **The due date for applications is the weekend of June 22nd.** **The applicant is required to bring the following** - Sleeping Bag, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, soap, & clothes for 3 days **Everything else will be provided by the organizers** We feel very strongly about the comfort issues parents have, and would like to ensure you all, that your children will be in good hands. Our team consists of highly qualified individuals who will be looking out for the interest of your child. This is a CO-ED camp. We would like to ensure everyone that this is not a get-together for members of the opposite sex, we are taking measures to ensure that everyone is comfortable and we are keeping within limits. The girls will be sleeping in a room that is near the langar hall in Kitchener Gurughar, and the boys will be sleeping upstairs. These two areas are completely separate from eachother, and if parents do ask you if this is the case, please notify them, that the two areas are not together at all, this is a major concern amongst parents, and we would like them to be as comfortable as possible. With the efforts/seva of a gursikh family in waterloo, who have recently lost their son, Daljit Singh, last year in a fight against cancer, they are humbly inviting everyone with open arms to join in Sangat on May 19th to sing wonderful praises of Guru Ji. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fatehh Sangat jio, a new tv series called "Letters to God" representative had gotten in touch with sevadaars in order to find thoughtful young children between ages of 6-10. This is a great chance for sikh youth to represent sikhi on tv. They will be required to do a number of things, please read the detailed information below.. ---------- February 21, 2007 Dear Parents/Teachers/Co-ordinators: Letters to God, the new television series for Vision TV in Canada, and the Faith and Values channel in the U.S., has been interviewing kids across the city of Toronto about the letters they have written to God. This series is produced by LZG Communications Inc. and will start airing in the spring of 2007. We are committed to including a wonderful mix of curious and thoughtful children of all cultures, religions and races and would like to know what they are thinking when they think about God. We will be taping segments on Saturday, March 10th and Sunday, March 11th as well as Saturday, March 31st and Sunday, April 1st and would like to have children between the ages of 6 and 10 years old, participate. In order for the children to be part of this series, we require his/her letter, a drawing, and a signed attached release form from their parent. We will arrange to pickup original letters, drawings and release forms immediately. The drawing is very important! We would like to display it as backdrop. Although it would be great to include everyone who writes to God, we are limited to choosing only a certain number of letters. We will chose which letters they will read on camera, and will ask them questions about both the letter and other related topics when we do the on-camera interview. While we don’t want to influence what the children write, we appreciate that the children may need a little help getting started. We’ve prepared a list of topics, below, that you may want to consult to help get going. Thank you for your support.
