On the 6th of January 2007, the Sikh Students of York University will be holding a Keertan Darbar at Dixie Gurdwara Sahib, from 5:00-12pm to collectively sing Guru Sahib’s Keertan all nite, with Sikh youth from all over Ontario before school starts up again!! For those of you who have not been to a YKD, all Keertan is done by the YOUTH, and such and uplifting experience. Don’t miss this!! There will be translation screens up, which will translate the Keertan line by line, to make it easy to understand, so make sure to leave your calendars open for SATURDAY, JANUARY 6TH, 2007!!!!! Remember 84 Let the Silence be Heard Candlelight Vigil in Memory of the Victims of the 1984 Anti-Sikh Massacre Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 5:00pm Mel Lastman Square, 5100 Yonge Street, Toronto 2 blocks North of Sheppard Avenue, next to North York Civic Centre Across from North York Subway Station Contact: Rupinder Kaur 416.922.3781 or rupinderkaur@rogers.com Citizens for Democracy, an independent advocacy group, estimates that during the first week of November 1984, approximately 8,000 people were killed in Delhi, India's capital in orchestrated attacks that were fuelled by anti-Sikh sentiments. The vigil will be held on Remembrance Day, a time for all Canadians to reflect on the ideals of Justice, Truth and Freedom. In addition to paying respect to the victims and survivors of 1984, the event will also make a tribute to the Sikh soldiers who fought in World Wars I and II. The vigil will feature personal testimonials and multimedia presentations. A special supplication prayer will be recited at the end of the program to seek blessings for those who perished and justice for the victims. The Project 84 Committee was formed to create awareness of the anti-Sikh pogroms and highlight the Indian government's continuing unwillingness to provide justice to the victims.

It gets updated at least once a week so do chek back at LEAST once/twice a week. New keertan include SIMRAN files from last weeks TUESDAY SIMRAN AT DIXIE !! OTTAWA YKD PICS Recordings will be going up in a bit and will be all up by monday night in the KEERTAN section of Ontariosikhyouth.ca! :TH: Overall the YKD was a amaazing success with guru jis kirpa. Sangat came from far and wide. Thanks to the ottawa sevadars, sangat from Toronto was given a bus which they enjoyed all the way there either doing simran, kirtan or gursikhi vichaar all the way to ottawa! May vaahegurooo ji bless us with more chardi kala YKD's such as this one and continued blessing from guru ji to stay on this beautiful sikhi path! Malton-Rexdale (April 23rd) and Downtown Toronto (April 30th) ..sangat pics have been added to our server! Here are the pics .. Nagar Keertan Pics Guru kirpa naal both nagar keertans were in chardi kala! The Malton-Rexdale Nagar Keertan sadly was a very bad rainy day but sanagataan still came, and the Downtown Nagar Kirtan was a record breaking day with sangataan coming from far a wide. At least tens of thousands of sangat ! View pictures to get darshan yourself. Many student bodies were representing via floats including COSS, KASE, GGSCF, etc.. it was truly an amaaazing day for guru ke pyaarai ! There are 3 new smagams recordings on our server (AKJ Ludhiana, Sadh-Sangat Dodra and AKJ Faridabad), on OntarioSikhYouth.ca These recordings will be available for a short time for sangat to get laha from and then will be taken off. We try to include personal recordings and share with sangat, and since this is a 'youth' oriented website, mainly YOUTH kirtan darbar recordings will be kept on. Ludhiana recordings are not superb, they are recorded while sitting in sangat but still are fairly good quality.
