1. You are running out of ideas to what you can critisise, the translation wont be 100% correct thats how youve been able to make an issue out of nothing, its better to read it in the original language. until you do that all your arguements are invalid . rolleyes.gif

    Heres a translation I found @

    http://www.sikhs.org/english/frame.html

This is a translation of the first few lines of Jap Ji

By thinking, He cannot be reduced to thought, even by thinking hundreds of thousands of times. By remaining silent, inner silence is not obtained, even by remaining lovingly absorbed deep within. The hunger of the hungry is not appeased, even by piling up loads of worldly goods. Hundreds of thousands of clever tricks, but not even one of them will go along with you in the end. So how can you become truthful? And how can the veil of illusion be torn away? O Nanak, it is written that you shall obey the Hukam of His Command, and walk in the Way of His Will. || 1 || By His Command, bodies are created; His Command cannot be described. By His Command, souls come into being; by His Command, glory and greatness are obtained. By His Command, some are high and some are low; by His Written Command, pain and pleasure are obtained. Some, by His Command, are blessed and forgiven; others, by His Command, wander aimlessly forever. Everyone is subject to His Command; no one is beyond His Command. O Nanak, one who understands His Command, does not speak in ego. || 2 || Some sing of His Power-who has that Power? Some sing of His Gifts, and know His Sign and Insignia. Some sing of His Glorious Virtues, Greatness and Beauty. Some sing of knowledge obtained of Him, through difficult philosophical studies. Some sing that He fashions the body, and then again reduces it to dust. Some sing that He takes life away, and then again restores it.

    Page 2

Some sing that He seems so very far away. Some sing that He watches over us, face to face, ever-present. There is no shortage of those who preach and teach. Millions upon millions offer millions of sermons and stories. The Great Giver keeps on giving, while those who receive grow weary of receiving. Throughout the ages, consumers consume. The Commander, by His Command, leads us to walk on the Path. O Nanak, He blossoms forth, Carefree and Untroubled. || 3 || True is the Master, True is His Name-speak it with infinite love. People beg and pray, "Give to us, give to us", and the Great Giver gives His Gifts.

.............................So what offering can we place before Him, by which we might see the Darbaar of His Court? What words can we speak to evoke His Love? In the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours before dawn, chant the True Name, and contemplate His Glorious Greatness. By the karma of past actions, the robe of this physical body is obtained. By His Grace, the Gate of Liberation is found.

    First Question:

Is this a good translation? Is the scholar pure in the message?

If you think no then do not proceed to the second question and simply state where and how the scholar is off his mark.

    Second Question:

do our guru's go on to state the purpose of life and why god created life? In a way they do. The purpose the scholar said is to praise and never forget god. Live by gods teachings and practice his "WILL", through a mandate.

    Now,

    my question lies therein:

Did God create us so that we can praise him and beg from him? (From the proof above, we see the emergeance of a slave mentallity in our religion, where a human is reduced to a corrupt, insensitive fool that is blinded. If your read the words above you will see that Sikhi is an all out attack on humanity with the utmost hostility). Does God want us to beg from him? Why does He keep answering the calls of the beggars?

GOD GAVE US LIFE, HE OWES US SOMETHING IN RETURN, DONT HUMANS HAVE A RIGHT TO BEG! WHEN A CHILD BEGS HIS MOTHER FOR COMFORT AND SUPPORT ITS NORMAL, BUT WHEN WE BEG GOD FOR OUR SHARE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ITS SIN? A MOTHER ALWAYS CARES FOR HER CHILDREN, SHOULDNT GOD BE OBLIGED TO DO THE SAME? DO WE THANK OUR MOTHER WHEN WE ARE INFANTS...DO WE PRAISE HER NAME AND GIVE THANKS...SHE PUT US IN THIS WORLD AND SHOULDNT SHE LOOK OVER US AND CARE FOR US?

Khanda question: the double edged sword Question:

Why would God create beings if all he wanted was complete despostism over our souls? Is God that insecure? Does he need the praise and small utterances of thanks of mere human souls just to remind him of his greatness? or do we do these small utterances of thanks to remind ourselves of his greatness; either way the question rounds about to WHY? *why does god want us to remember and not forget his greatness?*

Why should we praise God? sure he's given us life, a universe and a mind. OHH but what a corrupt mind he has given us! A mind that is torn apart to peices if it thinks too hard, a mind that is so fragile that if it reads a few words it gets pushed from one pole to the other.

Why give us life, what purpose does god see in this. Is he playing games in which we are his toys, is god toiling with us? Is not god torturing us? Is he not making us jump through hoops so that we can end our cycle of birth and re-birth?

Is life a gift from god? was it his intention to create life or was it all by chance (deism)?

Until we answer these questions, religion will continue to face the possiblity of extinction...because it will no longer serve its purpose...the very first purpose it set out to develop....the meaning of life!

this argument, we are aware is shrouded in pessimism and skepticism, none-the- less its a valid objective questioning for such a forum. It can only be answered via opinion. I am not asking for anyone to describe God, But merely think for yourselves of his intentions when he created humanity.

Our understanding is that for every action their is an intention.....I know I have applied that theory to God....but we must (god must have created life because he had an intention or drive to do something). Is this argument valid? Or is God something that is  without purpose, direction and intention.

I do not want to inflame everyone with rage! Just get out of your seats and think the unthinkable (or think that which is without answer)...it may enrich our lives. Or is this type of thinking sinful? should we remain silent on such issues, supress them into the deep voids of our mind and continue to praise the unknown, the unintentional, the ultimate torturer, our very own "commander and cheif"....GOD?

    Question 3:

Should we praise God? or should god praise us? He gives our existance meaning and purpose but doesn't humanity return the favour?

What would God be without Humanity? How boring would this world be without Evil?

How would we tell between good and evil if everyone did good and evil ceased to exist?

Doesn't god need evil in order to exist and give purpose to his existance?

    To the sangat:

No ones right or wrong on this post, just add your opinion to all of my questions and it will be accepted without debate. But I ask now that you do not turn to gurbani for answers (I dont think you will find answers their...i could be wrong) but turn to the constructs of your minds that have been developed from reciting preaching and practicing gurbani.

    cheers everyone.

In the gurbani it says The Gurus are equal to Waheguru.

(ppl who dont believe that go search)

And, although its not completley "good" to do what she is doing, you must tell her, She doesnt need the picture if she has waheguru and Guru Nanak in her thoughts.

    136118

    [/quote

WAheGuru is above everything, we cant begin to imagine how great.

The Guru Jis were sent here by God, they merged back into od but were not equal to God

alot of ppl do this with the pictures, and they mite deny they are not praying to it , but they cant help it, its hard to change a habit

  3. SSA all brothers and sisters

As you can see from the title here, it's a sad entry, but I need answers to these questions! I wasn't sure where to go or who to ask..right now my parents are too emotional and upset to speak and I don't feel right bombarding them with these questions, although i know they would be happy to answer..maybe all in good time....

I had a baby girl who was born sleeping (still born)! As you can imagine I am totally devestated and finding it difficult to cope. Her funeral is on Dec 1st, now the questions start here..

I was told by the hospital that they will arrange the funeral, i know as a Sikh we must be creamated, but the hospital contacted a gyani at the local gudwara who said because she is still born, upto a certain age a baby can be buried..what does everyone think?

I know she is with god, but for how long?

Does she have to pass a time to stay in heaven?

Will she get older, like year by year or will she stay a baby?

Will she come back to me?

    Will she be watching me?

Will she be with my family, who have passed?

Some of thses questions sound silly, but I have never known or asked about what we believe about life after death.... please someone help me..i want to do this the proper sikh way and need to know what we should believe! I really hope somebody will help!

    Thank you in advance.

this must be distressing for you, but all happens for a reason, i would have though that the soul would be blessed and go back to waheguru. they may have another chance but i dnt think 'she' would go bk into charasi lakh joon, because she never had a chance to earn good or bad karma to be judged.

age doesnt come into this, only the human body has a age, the soul doesnt grow each year etc. i dnt think shes gna be watchin u n probs not with your previous fam.

erm.......... u cant go back in time , at first i thought it was meant to bei n the jokes section LOL.gif lollll

  5. If you think Uhbi was doing SEVA by beating up old men then you need your head testing, if he had an issue he should of constructivly approached the commitee, not commit a serious offence. How can this man justify his actions and call him self a SIKH.........By the way another person was arrested last night in connection to this fracas........let hope the others get caught and are prosecuted.

The SIKH community has no room for these kind of people.

    135401

True blind violence is not needed and is not what our Guru Ji teaches us,

they should have approached the commitee and dont it peacefully and if they did not listen then it is only righteous to raise the sword................. literally.

Jo Bole..... So Nihal...........Sat Sri Akal!!!

  6. LET me put u northern Sikhs straight, meat and drinks on godwara  premises

DO NOT happen in the south…………or i hope not.

    135333

    WJKK

    WJKF

im from the north, so i would say 'let me put you southern sikhs straight!'

but i dont, you cant say its just us because this kinda thing isnt just in the north its happening in all different areas and its serious! we cannot let these people do this disrespect to our Guru Ji while we sit in our homes and forget about it.

if the older generation are drinkin in the gurudwara buildings what example are they setting to the youth.

  7. kurtas

Having differences over killing innocent people proves everything. It shows that true Gursikhs like Shaheed Baba Manochal recognised that there were idiots in the militant groups who undertook acts of terrorism. Why do you have a problem accepting this ? It reminds me of little children who think there is a tooth fairy.

Remember that second hamla on the Darbar Sahib after Bluestar. So called militants holed themselves up in the Harimandir Sahib and were using the place as a toilet. How sick is that. That is the type of people you are defending.  I guess all these people must also have been police cats and dropped into the complex from UFOs.

    134622

most people will probs not reply, because people like you are only ther to critisise, which isnt wrong but everytime you are proved wrong, you 'redirect' your argument. This could go on for the whole of your life and you wouldn't be satisfied......

if it was your sister the got raped, or your brother or father that got killed, or your family that was the victim then you would understand why we need our independance and how sikhs are discriminated.

Dont you understand that the indian government did not allow the press to print the truth, they hid it from the whole world. The propaganda in the papers was to mislead and confuse small minded ppl like yourself to go against other fellow Sikhs. People were scared to rise up and have their say fearing similar incidents, so thats y you are negative about issues regarding independance.

  8. if you choose your partner according to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji , then nothing can go wrong. I was listening to a Sant on suk sagar and he was saying that in Gurbani the Guru tells us somat like 5 main things to look into(or the parents should look into) before marrying someone.

im gna try n find out what it was n will get bck to u , maybe someone knows.

sometimes things never work out, iv seen a couple who divorced each other after having two kids who were like 15 yrs n 10yrs old, you would have thought they would learn to live together.

  9. where is their proof that the indian gov't was involved  @

    134713

    WJKK WJKF

if in doubt blame the indian gov............ chances are it is them. blush.gif

but these guys must hav some guts to be able to pull this kinda thing off to pose as a baba and all in front of ppl, they must be so shameless, thing is this kinda thing tends to get ppl all worried and then they mite start to doubt the real Babas and Sants etc etc.

lets hope this sends a message to all the other dodgy ppl.

  10. that is no way to talk , this guy is not a Gur Sikh. Iv never seen anything like this.

son of drunkards? well if thats the case they would hav come from punjab in the first place so its a shame on all of us.

However we shudnt get too upset ppl, theres alota people goin on the net posting this stuf just to stir up some trouble.

    WAhe Guru plz forgive him.

  11. Also by your above stated logic, if mere sound current of bani is enuf to make water into amrit, than i ask u if i were to palce a large jug of water, and put on live kirtan feed 24/7 on a stereo next to that jug will that jug somehow turn into amrit? Amrit is a very important and essential part of Sikhi jeevan, one which should be regarded with the utmost respect so do not belittle its value by attributing its significance to something so ordinary.

    Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa

    WAhe Guru Ji Ki Fateh

It is not by the 'mere sound' it has to be done from the heart. If you prayer is done from the heart then yes anything is possible. Even mountains can be turned around. using a stereo wont work, no.

    Fateh! :e:

  13. Actually Gurbani can make the dirty cup clean, anything is possible when we have full faith in Wahe Guru. Also it does make a difference to the food if it is prepared when Gurbani or naam simran is being done.

We shouldn't share food with anyone and the fact that no one can stay away from eating out or takeaways etc that they just shun the whole concept of 'jooth', instead of searching properly and findin the answers.

No one can find the answer unless they have an open mind to it, someone whos already made up their mind that they will not change wont find the answers to any questions in life.

    My veiw on Sikh Youth

I have noticed that the sikh youth can be catogrised into three main segments, there are those that want to preserve the faith and teach the youth and lead by example, then there are those that just hang along, attend the programs and lectures on sikhi and show their support but dont actually follow the advice, and there is the group that are aware of sikhi but dont want to do anything because they feel its not there job or just dont care.

Im not undermining the seva and effort the sikh youth put into sikh awareness, its priceless seva, the problem we have is that in the places where there is the majority of sikhs everything is taking shape. For example London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester etc but where there is not many sikhs nothing is being done because of lack of support. That is where we are losing the sikh youth and letting them stray from sikhi. places like newcastle, middlesborough, sunderland .......

The main reason why kids dont follow or know their Sikhi is because parents dont teach us, some done even know themselves because no one has taught them either. If these people arent helped then by the next generation they will surely be gone off track. The Gurudwaras Commitees have alot of power to do something, they are the best way to get kids to the gurudwara. But they do not seem to help ( this is not the case in all gurudwaras obv) or do not realise the importance, that todays youth is going to be leading sikhi tomorow.

Another thing which worries me is that people prioritise sikhi as last in their list. They put first their money , jobs, friends, family and then if i havent missed anything else sikhi.

Everything is due to lack education.
