  1. dont worry about punjab this is u r perception about punjab i suppose u were born/bred in uk so u dont know about the situation this is the case with all nri kids

    1) as far as drugs r concerned this is disinfo that is being spread to defame punjab highest percapita consumption of alcohol in india is in kerela i have never heard anyone saying kerela people r drunkards on the contrary it has highest literacy rate , per capita consumption of alcohol is much higher in uk.us canada where u live i wonder why u dont raise the issue there

    2) drug use:- is max in us, uk etc developed countries

prostitution? think before u post something i have lived in punjab for 25 years this is the first time i am hearing this thing whole world knows grooming of sikh girls in uk so be careful while posting

    3) "guys messed up":- in west the rate is higher

    4) parchar:- from 1978-1995 all those who fought armed way or democratic were from india, where were u who have privilege of effective parchar , gurbaksh khalsa sat for fast earlier and again now why dont someone from west who have access to effective parchar do such

    5) needing money for education, health some economically weaker section have no choice but it does not mean they have no values dont demean corruption is an internal phenomena billionaires r also corrupt

6 garbage dumps etc look people from such circumstances have risen to great heights PM modi, MANMOHAN, etc thousands others successful in different professions

AS FAR AS FUTURE GENS TO COME HERE NO ONE IS INVITING THEM NOR NOBODY NEEDS THEM IF SOMEONE WISHES WELL AND GOOD ELSE THEY SHOULD REFRAIN FROM VENTURING OUT OF THEIR NEAT AND CLEAN SURROUNDINGS

Don't worry about Punjab? Lol everything you posted is <banned word filter activated> . Drugs is not a big problem in Punjab? Are you kidding me? You are blaming SIkhs in the West for all the problems? We have so many organizations in Punjab helping with Sikh prisoners to drug rehabs to helping out with the victims of 84? What are Sikhs who care about the kaum doing in Punjab exactly. Some of them are doing the same thing as Western Sikhs are funding organizations to fight such causes. We protest every year for 1984. Even when Modi comes outside of India, Sikhs protest. So watch what you say don't blame Sikhs outside India for all Punjab's problems. Why do you guys think Sikhs from the West will solve all of Punjab problems? Stop pointing fingers.

  2. I too am curious about this. It seems we are a very desi community that makes strange decisions. For example, what qualifications did Jathedar Ranjit Singh Ji have? Is the only reason he became Jathedar because he assassinated the Niranakri leader? That makes no sense at all. Same applies for people requesting Rajoana to be Jathedar...this is why we're so behind. Desi mentality.

I think Badal calls the shots these days... But here's another way to look at things: what if Jathedar Gurbachan Singh is actually a good person and is trying his hardest to do well, given the current scenario in the Panth. Maybe he knows that if he speaks up against Badal, he will get replaced by one of Badal's men, who could do a lot of damage to the Panth. Maybe his hands are tied and he knows that things could be worse if someone replaces him. I have met Jathedar Ji many years ago and he seemed like a very knowledgeable and Panthic person. (but that's just based on a short conversation)

I also don't agree with Bhai Gurbaksh Singh always blaming the Jathedar for the Singhs not coming out of jail. Does the Jathedar hold the jail keys? Maybe he tried and the government gave a flat out "no". How's that his fault? Maybe he fears that if he speaks up, he will get replaced by an anti Panthic person? Our people are known for making quick and emotional decisions without putting much thought into it. For example, the Canadian and USA sangat decided that whichever kathavachak, kirtani etc doesn't visit Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Ji will not be able to do parchar in Canada and USA. For the next few days people started flooding Amb sahib. All the parcharaks who had not come for the first month suddenly dropped everything to rush there to make sure they can come to Canada. THAT is Desi mentality. What if a kathavachak couldn't come because they are caring for a sick family member? What if they don't agree with hunger strikes? What if they are travelling to other parts of Punjab to do parchar? This is the kind of thinking that is hurting us so badly as a kaum. We don't use out minds. We just get emotional and start making noise. Whether it's choosing our leaders, putting up marble Gurdwaras over our history, or beating up pakhandi babay... We are just so Desi. I think we will progress when we are ready to put our heads together and actually make well thought out decisions. Buy that doesn't seem like it's happening anywhere.

If your a Akal Takht jathedar and you see how your Sikh kaum is being destroyed slowly bit by bit in Punjab with anti Sikh agenda but choose not to speak up against it because you will lose your position has to be one of the most PATHETIC excuses ever. The Akal Takht Jathedar should not be afraid to speak up for the truth and the truth only. He is just a puppet at the moment for Badals.

  3. This is shocking news. We know that the RSS/Indian Govt has got a grip on most Sikh institutions and organisations. Those that are free should protest against this, its like when Gen Dyer was invited to the Harimandir Sahib after the massacre of 1919. Then Sikh protested and this lead to the Gurdwara reform agitation and the removal of corrupt Mahants under British control. Now we have Indian controlled Mahants in their place.

Those that are free need to unite indeed. But they are far outnumbered by other Anti-Sikh groups and deras that start clashes etc.... Taksal Singhs protested against the Noormela Cult and got fired upon by police. Taksal has been quiet here and there, but surely there are Singhs grouping together and trying to fight against these RSS/Indian Govt. sponsored Anti-Sikh agenda going on.

  4. Typically parents didn't do good job. Also in her karam not to know sikhi really well. She was already married with non-sikh way before she hoped into political bandwagon.

Anyway sticking with topic, i think giani jaswinder singh was demoted from "Head Granthi" to "Granthi Singh" after his huge mistake on rehraas sahib paath. Many believes that he is going to be next in line for akal takht jathedar seat.

Hopefully, he doesn't become the next Akal Takht jathedar. We need a REAL jathedar in charge. Btw a little off-topic but curious, how do Akal Takht jathedars get picked?

  5. ^ its not her fault as she never got the chance to know sikhi. My nana ji know this family very well. Migrating in 60's kinda broke their link with sikhi. Our family stayed in sikhi because of sangat of few bhagti walay singhs. Old folks know "thakur singh amritsar" who was very high spirit chardikala gursikh was in fact fufar of governor nikki.

Or she just wanted to "fit in" as they say over here in America. No excuses its either she didn't try to learn Sikhi and just converted for political purposes or her father didn't do a good job of teaching her Sikhi from a young age.

  6. Lullers, lullers everywhere...

How can one give someone siropa to one's husband who leaves the faith. This is just pure bs politics. Nikkey Haley's father has no right I don't care if he is a gursikh or keeps his kesh he has failed to continue Sikhi through his family generation by letting his daughter convert just for political gains. Pure BS.

This is a good example of bad leadership over there.. We are in the point where dera clashes are occurring more frequently now propagandizing anti-Sikh agenda while Akal Takht is quiet. We have Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa doing a "do or die" fast and is probably gonna be shunned by Akal Takht jathedar once again....

  7. I am from the Ravidassia community/religion.

Apart from a very small minority we do not consider ourselves sikhs. We are all clean shaven and do not believe in the five Ks. We have the SGGS in our gurughar and have always used the anand karaj for marriages. Is this going to be an issue now?

What about if you drink alcohol and trim?

Either Anand Karaj should be ONLY for amritdhari sikhs or open to all otherwise all your maryadas about it are racist.

How do you not believe in the 5 K's when you believe in the GGS? Code of Conduct is a must

  8. I was in a relationship with somebody for a very long time and I thought I was going to marry him. But he broke up with me a few months ago and ever since then I have been in deep depression. He was abusive throughout the relationship which is why I should take this as a blessing but I don't know why I cannot move on from this. I've tried to do path and read bani I recite Jap Ji sahib every morning and whenever I think about it I start doing chaupai sahib but I feel like I'm just spiraling downwards with nobody to ask for advice from. I have friends but none of them are Sikh and they provide the non-Sikh perspective to this but I just wanted the Sikh perspective and what I should do to spiral out of this depression and accept everything as a blessing. It is getting really hard on a day to day basis I feel like I am not myself anymore. I'm barely ever happy or laughing. It is really taking a severe toll on me where I cannot focus on my studies or my work. I remind myself that everything happens based off of our previous karams and thats why I am going through everything but sometimes I just crash and I don't know how to stop myself from spiraling downwards.

Depression is pretty common after breakups in an relationship. Just be thankful because as you said he was abusive throughout the relationship and that indicates that's not really who you want to be a partner with for rest of your life. Try doing Sukhmani Sahib also and reach out to close cousins of yours who you feel comfortable talking to or getting advise from or anyone from sangat and try to recover bit by bit.

  9. Agreed, we recently discovered and have proof of guru jis trip down to the vatican, the heart of catholicism. We know guru ji has been to the centres of buddhism, islam, christianity, hindu n id assume jain faiths, but if im not mistaken, no mention of jewish faith. I reckon that will b the next discovery.

I always thought that he would of visited Jerusalem at that time since it is a huge and very mutli-religious city. Who really knows tbh, but we should really help Sikh scholars who are working hard on this. It's pretty cool that we found out he visited the Vatican just like last year.

  10. CHANDIGARH, India (November 4, 2014)—The hunger strike of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa for the release of imprisoned Sikhs has been halted in uncertainty. Due to the non-availability of space and alert of Intelligence Agencies, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is not succeeding in starting his hunger strike.

It is worth mentioning that Bhai Khalsa announced few days ago that if the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib will not fulfil his promise before Bandi Chhor Diwas, then he will again sit a hunger strike. He planned to start his hunger strike in Subhan of Jalandhar, but the police didn’t allow him. While expressing disappointment, he said that nobody is coming forward to provide space for his hunger strike.

  11. You know what, these sort of people piss me off so bad, at times I think we need to kick aside the issues we have with Hindus and Muslims for a short period of time and thrash these traitors we have within the qaum. I swear the day we do it, we won't have to thrash outsider non-Sikhs. They will see that the lion has woken up and will do what they have always done best, i.e. flee the battlefield.

The thing is when in Punjab we have people keeping their dastaar and kesh but ruining the Sikh image for us is something i find very irritating. I see the leaders of our gurdwaras aboard India as the main target for a lot issues. I see that is the first step of a long process to throw out the fake Sikhs within the kaum.

  12. why because I turn my Guru for solace/rebalance instead of getting depressed, reading so many antigurmat things can make you temporarily think 'how is Sikhi gonna survive' when I know my Guru's bachan tells Khalsa Raj will come?

Whats more depressing to know is that we definitely know that Khalsa Raj won't happen during our lifetimes unless things change dramatically fast all we can do is unite and start the foundation for the future Sikhs after us. Also work on our own jeevans too of course.

  13. this whole group of topics this week have been that way, maybe it's just the time of year when we think about the future of the panth that much more ...anyway I'm seriously down now and going to spend time doing paat, nothing else matters or helps.

I lose brain cells when I read silly comments by these so called Sikhs. Makes me wonder how bleak the future is.

  14. I fully support this by @sunny_hundal "Why British Sikhs must oppose the ban on inter-faith marriages at Gurdwaras" http://t.co/t0b9oMaDH7

No surprise on the views of Sunny Hundal & Bobby Friction on this matter.

whats worse is some of these people's views on his fb post.... exactly what I stressed about https://www.facebook.com/s1.hundal/posts/10154795741705503

One woman posted: Is this a more recent issue? A Catholic relative of mine married a Sikh a few years ago and AFAIK there wasn't any kind of backlash from either side. They have two kids now who are raised Sikh but come to some of our Catholic ceremonies.

Disappointing to read the first couple of comments btw. The most successful religions evolve to suit the needs of its population.
