  1. This Hukamnama from Takht Sri Hazur Sahib will not stand in the Sikh community. I feel this is another game being played here with the Sikhs. I dont see Gurbachan Singh's name on this Hukamnama. When has Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in recent times come out with thier own Hukam on Panth issues?

I believe this is another way the political Jathedars are up to there old tricks of splitting the Sikhs on one more issue. Sri Akal Takht Sahib will most likely issue a hukam on the contrary of this Hukam.

Majority of the Sikh community see Takht Sri Hazur Sahib as a place where Hindu rituals are openly practiced and do not take them seriously. I don't agree but it is a popular view.

If Sikhs want to release Sri Akal Takht Sahib from Badals hands. They should look to Takht Sri Hazur Sahib and actual Akali Nihangs of today.

  2. You think mother nature would design humans so that they wont survive or do well without stealing other animal's breast milk ? Yes , I am not exaggerating we are stealing milk which cow gave for its calf , not for humans.

This is a fanatical statement. I will explain why.

    1. The Gurus kept milk into a Sikhs diet and also did not refrain from milk. Fanatics now are saying the Gurus stole milk. Anythkng else you want to add mr. Educated.

    2. Many vegatables grow in the ground. Farmers spray many toxic pesticides to KILL rats, rabbits, insects and worms. If chemicals are not applied or poison is not put out for animals then the crops are infested and ruined. If the cow milk is only made for the calf. Then vegetables are only made for animals that live off of it. Guru Nanak Dev ji warned us of these fanatical ways.

Obvoiusly this poster has not stepped into any farm to see the reality. He's got his blinds on and only sees green. EVery day one farm worker is put at a higher risk to develop cancer because farmers refuse to give proper working conditions and safety supplies. Yet this poster does not want to hear about these facts. He wants to enjoy his vegetables and fruits in peace without no guilt. Yet he wants others to feel guilty for buy milk. Guru Nanak Dev Ji wrote about how the sugar cane feels pain when going through the crusher. Any person who has dug a 6 inch hole will know there is living breathing creatures being crushed and killed to plant vegetables and fruits. Any compassion here? No none at all. Anyone doing ardas to ask forgivens here? Not even by mistake will these fanatics think about that worm or insect or rat. All they say is eeewwwwww..get that thing away from me, while running to climb on top of a chair or table.

The root problem to all these problems is the capitalist system. Its about increase company size and increase net income and nothing more. Where is the movement against really tackling the problem. Those Sikhs back home who got there hands dirty in the farms know the reality here. Go ask them why all this is happening. Take these pin stripe suit wearing, beard tying, mr. Educated people in a room and let a wild dog loose. After they have had enough with the dog. then ask them what is the problem. Then these people will spell it out for you in a split second.

  3. The original poster can be explained in two words. Commitment issues. This is very common among the youth today. Biggest concern employers have today is the ability of new young employers to actually commit to a job. Also this is prevalent in other parts of life like divorce rates. No one stands by their word these days. Key words from this posters post really stick out to show how deeply she is facing commitment issues.

Her example of parents wanting her to live freely.

Twisting Sikhi To say sikhi is about having free will...

Then says mindlessly agreeing to marrying someone and not being able to handle the lifestyle.

Look at what she wants to do. Raise money to teach kids in other countries. Short term job and if she does not like it then she can easily escape. No strings attached.

If you want to talk about Sikhi then read Bachittar Natak. It is the biography of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji written by him. Guru Gobind Singh ji did not say me me me me me 1600 times. He said tuhi tuhi tuhi 1600 times. Meaning I live for you Vaheguru.....give me my choice...which Guru Sahib explains what direction he was given.

Read Bachittar Natak and let everyone know where this free choice making part exist. Guru Sahib was told what to do and did not make a choice.

Gurmukhs who did not marry understood at an early age what it means to live in service to akal purakh. They have done deep contemplations of Gurbani.

Dont give me examples of Bhagat Puran ji because he carried a kid on his back till his last breath. He committed. He didn't make a choice. He picked up what Guru Sahib put before him and did not doubt it.

  4. Pray Truth for all and say Sat Sree Akaal,

    Dear all and BarinderSingh Jee,

You wrote "I will surely answer your question after you answer mine."

Sure, children want to have ice cream first.

You asked "Why do you put Singh in your name?"

This human body got birth in a Sikh family with surname Singh. This is how I got the surname Singh.

You asked further "Show me where in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji it says to put Singh in your name?"

    Please listen. Gurdev is singing.

    ਰਾਜੇ ਸੀਹ ਮੁਕਦਮ ਕੁਤੇ

    राजे सीह मुकदम कुते ॥

raaje seeh mukdam kute. malaar-vaar M: 1 SGGS Ang 1288-7

Kings are Seeh, the lions. The Courtiers are dogs.

    Balbir Singh

In this tuk the word Singh is not written. You did not answer my question. You harped on harsharan poster to present where mahima comes with Vaheguru. He actually produced something that was close. Yet you produced nothing what you said.

Here comes the same ridiculous question you asked me. Is your blood family your Guru?

  5. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .....

For me you and Balbir jee, with all respects live on the same mental floor.

Try to learn to laugh man, do not be so rigid that you do not even know and understand a joke.

All of us can shower you and Balbir Singh, with more hard nouns that you both use, but that then will not make any differences between you both, and the rest of us.

So at least I am not going to reply any of your nonsenses anymore, there is no way!

But both of you only deserve, sympathy and pity from the rest of us, cause your are already condemmed with your present mental condition.

    .

There is a just one Babeh for me, and that is Baba Nanak, the Guru Sahibans, and the Guru Granth Sahib, so if you have any other polluted fantasies in your mind, better remove them.

So we can not do anything but pity you, may God bless you

    Sat Sree Akal

You do have a unique way of showing humility, sympathy, and tolerance of others. Which person or persons taught , you to behave in this way?

    Your demonizing others never stops.

I was laughing, but not with you.

  6. Pray Truth for all and say Sat Sree Akaal,

    Dear all and BarinderSingh jee,

You wrote "On the topic of gurmantra. BHAI GURDAS JI cleared the issue by saying Vaheguru is the true mantra."

May I ask? Is BHAI GURDAS JI your Guru?

Did the true Gurus ever mention Bhai Gurdas ji's name in SGGS jee?

    Balbir Singh

I will surely answer your question after you answer mine. Why do you put Singh in your name? Show me where in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji it says to put Singh in your name?

  7. Thank you for all the replies. Maybe I should have made the post a bit more specific. For example if one was to do paath reciting out loud and at another instance do it with surti...lets say you do nitnem by the two methods...which one would be accepted by Guru Ji? Paath done out loud or the paath done with surti.

Because personally I started to do paathby surti and I started to hear stuff and later on I ran into a video that said if you hear stuff then those are the naads that are heard by radhaswamis and that the Gurmat way is to recite it out loud and hear it with your ears...im so confused on this because im told that first you do Jaap out loud and then with surti...it seems the same thing to me. Maybe someone understands this issue and can help me distinguish what is the right way.

And also in a katha by Giani Thakur Singh Ji he says that if you hear Vaheguru along with other dhunis then you're on the right path...if you only hear dhunis then he said no not that way.

You can recite it out loud or in your mind. Ever felt a shabad playing in your head without any direct efforts? as you go deeper Gurbani will just take over. Your mind will be colored with it and Gurbani will play in your mind without any effort for hours, days and weeks. Let go and surrender to it.

What about those that are deaf is there Gurbani recitation in vain. Look to Guru Sahib for instructions forget these fake cats. They be filling there bellies with the beast. Look to Bhai Gurdas ji Vaars. Look to real kathavachaks who lived what they preached and knew the correct path like Sant Gurbachan Singh ji. This is kalyug. Gurbani tells us in your mind enshrine Vaheguru, with your tongue repeat his bani, with your ears listen to his Shabad. All are approved. Personally when I take the shabad to the mind and let the mind recite it. Thats when everything becomes one and peace is felt. Sometimes repeating something out loud brings more meaning because once said the ears catch it and the mind has a clearer picture. Yet it all goes back to the mind changing for the better.

I dont know how young you are but take others advice with your shield up. Also go back to your Guru. All the time spent searching for the diamond in Gurbani cannot be evaluated. Human advice with different titles Giani, Baba, Sant, scholar, bhai sahib, prof, etc is only good as his or her understanding.

One person who I keep getting told to meet is Giani Mohan Singh ji Brindranwale. Hes done some true searching and reached heights we cannot realize. He has one or two kathas on youtube. Search him up and see if he has done any katha on this topic.

  8. I do have sympathy and understand what you are saying. Maybe im not the best person yo help you. However you created this topic to get help. So you will need to give more info of what you say and exactly what you have tried so far. Maybe someone who has dealt with this stuff before is reading and will be able to help you. Without more and clear info its hard to say what it is.

Trying to help and don't mean to insult you or belittle what you are going through.

  9. On the topic of gurmantra. BHAI GURDAS JI cleared the issue by saying Vaheguru is the true mantra.

Jaap of har, raam, satnaam, akaal, Vaheguru are only virtues with the instructions of the Guru. If today someone says jaap Vaheguru and the person ask what is the arth (meaning) of it. The person says the meaning is a women with a red suit on sitting in the mountain eating nuts. There will be no virtue in jaap Vaheguru. The person will be meditating on a woman with a red suit on sitting in the mountain eating nuts. How much sense does this make.

Jaap har today or tomorrow but make sure you know the meaning. Hindus listen to Gurbani and when they hear Har. They remember Krishna. When they read Raam. They remember Raamchandr. They might as well remember the lady up in the mountain with a red suit on eating nuts.

A mantra only gets the stamp of Gurmantra when the true understanding behind it is given by the true Guru; Gurbani.

Jaap of Allah, Har, Raam, Govind, etc is not impure. The meaning and instructions given by a fool make it lost in vain.

How many pauri does Jaap Sahib have? 199. How many names do Muslims say there is for God? 99. Any connection here? What language is most of Jaap Sahib written in? Language that Muslims understand. Jaap Sahib directly attacks there theory of only 99 names and says there is unlimited at the beginning and stopping at 199 pauris. 199 means unlimited. All can't be said. If Gur sahib made 200 pauris the reader is given the indication the names are complete. 200 is a nice even number that indicates a end. But there is no end, no last. This forces the mind to think of the beginning where Guru Sahib say not all can be said. Brings peace, and contentment In the persons mind because it shows only he knows all. Total surrender.

  10. LOL.. :stupidme: :biggrin2: :tease: :giggle: :omg:  :poke:   :laugh2: :waheguru:

I dont know why you are laughing so hard. Balbir and you are the same but at opposite ends. In the same way you tried to present Gurbani lines out of context. Thats exactly what balbir has done. He says he has the hidden message and you say your Baba and you have the hidden message. He demonized you in this discussion and you demonized others in the past in the same way.

I have to admit balbir trapped you and is more correct about praise even though with his last post he went completely crazy.

  11. For those who r giving different shabads from sri guru granth sahib ji... Do u remember the following lines:

Kabir preet ik sio kiye aan dubida jaye. Bhanvein lambe kes kar bhave gharrar mudaey.

This is also bani of sri guru granth sahib ji... I havent found anywhere that if i cut my hair... Den i m doing sumthing wrong... Yet i have kept my hair... Never ever tried to cut them... But always thinking about it... And i never found anywhere dat it is mendatory to keep hair... Nowhere it is writen... What i found is an order sayng " naam japo .. Wand shako... Te kirt kmai kro""" i think if we do this... Den our gurus will be lot more pleased... Than just keeping long hair nd pretending to be a sikh...

Then on the same bases get ready for something mind blowing. All those women who dress half naked are not also wrong. Exposing there chest, other parts are right to do so in the same sense you present the above lines of Gurbani.

Ang 324 Bhagat Kabir ji says

kiaa naagae kiaa baadhhae chaam ||

What does it matter whether someone goes naked, or wears a deer skin,

jab nehee cheenas aatham raam ||1|| rehaao ||

if he does not remember the Lord within his soul? ||1||Pause||

Is anyone ready to present this to their sister, wife, or mother to justify her scantly clad way of dressing? Give this to the teenager struggling with her identity.

Gurbani is not here to justify wrong doings of cutting hair.

  12. Idea of Sikhi is not to love people but to submit to Vaheguru's hukam whatever that would be. If loving people equally was the goal then atheist who dedicated their whole life toward serving the less fortunate would be teaching Sikhi not Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Take the example God is testing me? God knows everything before it happens. He knows the choice before it is made by the puppet? Where is the test in it? What we have is circumstantial intelligence. Divine knowledge is beyond our grasp. How many people are aware of Gurbani, yet are lost, me included in this list. Vaheguru can be sitting before us and we will deny it because of the minds ability to create distractions for us. The more a person is given the ability to contemplate over Gurbani by Vaheguru the more they will agree with Hukam is the goal. In this there is no attachments to anything in creation. Everything exist as is with no feelings toward it. Its complete surrender no praise no disagreements. Budhist try to practice this but they do not have a true teacher to receive the teachings from.

Raj karega khalsa. Uttered by Guru Nanak but not understood by us. When this was said. It wad not said by wish full thinking. But exposing what will happen. Guru Nanak Dev ji did not force this on the world. However many Sikhs are trying to force this on others through different ways. Guru Nanak Dev jis way is through teaching and if the the person does not accept. Continue without directly focusing in that person.

  13. One interesting discussion. both balbir and harsharan along those that supported him with post are airing different views, balbir is more right than harsharan. Guru sahib did not just choose any word for Vaheguru at random to say call Vaheguru whatever. Using different names for Vaheguru in different places in Gurbani brings out meaning and replacing that specific name for Vaheguru will not be appropriate to understand the shabad.

Example can we change ik onkar to Vaheguru in Mool Mantar? It is a dangerous path that many will not take because they have no authority to change Gurbani. Many times people that follow so called Babas or Sants will have no problem doing this to justify their worship of their Baba as Vaheguru. Also the so called educated class of people travel on the same path to bring Gurbani down to their understanding abilities and live in metaphors and ultimately Vaheguru does not exist for them but is a metaphor. Then you have those who take it so literal that they completely miss the meaning and start following ideas like Krishna is worshipped in Gurbani.

  14. Have you seen any thing in your house? If so what did you see or hear? These things exist, but it seems in your case everything is in your head.

Many times our mind creates what we want to believe is there, but nothing is there. Many after watching a scary movie feel as if something is lurking in there presence. Simply by stepping out of this frame of reference the person is able to escape there own created ghost. When a house gets robbed, the occupants of the house after the incident feel the presence of the robber still in the house sometimes about to attack them one more time. They especially feel this when the robber has not been caught by the police. They also make everyday noises into someone trying break into the house again. They are on edge.

Tell a person you feel something in your presence and if the person drops her mental defensives, she will also feel it even though you lied to them. Look at everything from an objective stand point. Forget for the time being that ghost demons even exist. Note down what your thoughts are that influence you to beleive something is there and note down where you are in the house. Also note down the time of day and how the weather is when you have these feelings. Get someone you trust to look at your notes and talk to you about what you felt at the times you felt something.

Did you ever have a bad experience with water...almost drowned, something else? Some bad experience in a bathroom, kitchen...

Have a fixed routine of your day. Write it down and follow it to the letter.

  15. Meh, don't trust him anyway.

We're all related to Guru Nanak Dev Ji's physical form (all life on Earth is related), so whatever. The Guru took Guru Angad Dev Ji as his own, he didn't favour his own sons. What makes this guy think he is special?

Guru Gobind Singh straight up said we're all his sons and daughters.

Also: some long <banned word filter activated> advert at the start.

    Nicely said.

  16. Veer barinder singh you can not be more misinformed , you know jover 80% of fertile land in North America is used for crops that directly go into feeding factory farm live stock - the crops are soy and corn

We will employ much less farm workers if the world went vegan ...also will leave lots of forests uncut and be able to reslove food hunger

Also you can wash off fertilizers but what do you do with all the growth hormones , antibiotics and steroids that are in dairy and meat ?

Where did you get the figure 80% from. Was it from one of those biased over dramatized films on youtube?

Fyi corn and soy bean farms have the least labor cost. All planted maintain and harvest by machinery. The farms where workers are directly exposed to harmful chemicals is vegetable and fruit farms. And these farms employ the most workers for harvesting and maintaining, not corn and soybeans. Land that is used for soybean or corn cannot used for veg and fruit farms. The nutrient and condition of the land does not let veg and fruits to be grown.

Forest are not being cut due to farms. This is ridiculous remark. Forest are being cut because of industrial and resdential use. Corn and soy can be grown in pretty much any land with least amount of nutrients in the soil. It is fruit and veg farms that require high nutrient soil with good water drainage soil to grow. For these farms forest are cut down due to Increase of demand.

Greenhouse employees can tell of the bad conditions they work in. Exposure to extreme heat, chemicals, and safety hazards. Vegans are blind to this conditio of farm workers. Open your eyes these are people. They deserve respect and just not your cow.

  17. quote]My attachment to Maya has been eradicated;

    chookee-alay moh ma-i-aasaa.

the moon energy has devoured the sun energy.

    sas keeno soor giraasaa.

In the context of the Rahaao Bani this is saying that the fire of ignorance (maya) has been dispelled by spiritual knowledge (cooling energy, what is described above as moon energy).

When I was focused and merged into the all-pervading Lord,

    jab kumbhak bharipur leenaa.

then the unstruck sound current began to vibrate. ||3||

    tah baajay anhad beenaa. ||3||

Bhagat ji says in the Rahaao he dwelled on Vaheguru and in that context this has to be understood. Has nothing to do with focusing on the third eye point, moon energy or sun energy. These are used to give understanding for the people (yogis) who practiced hatha yoga, trying to open up Kundalini energy, tenth gate, and trying to attain liberation.

The Speaker has spoken, and proclaimed the Word of the Shabad.

    baktai bak sabad sunaa-i-aa.

Bhagat ji is referring to Guru Sahib here as Bhagat ji received Gurbani from Guru Sahib.

The hearer has heard, and enshrined it in the mind.

    suntai sun man basaa-i-aa.

Bhagat ji refers to himself as hearing the Guru Sahib and then dedicating himself to Gurbani.

Chanting to the Creator, one crosses over.

    kar kartaa utras paaraN.

Says Kabeer, this is the essence.

    kahai kabeeraa saaraN.

Now Bhagat ji tells us what Gurbani says to do. Chant, sing, listen, read to Vaheguru and you will uplift the ignorance.

The moon and the sun are both the embodiment of light.

    chand sooraj du-ay jot saroop.

(I believe these are references to the two eyes. Chand/Moon left eye & Sooraj/Sun right eye)

Bhagat Kabir ji just told us two tuks above what is the essence of realizing Vaheguru, which is chanting to Vaheguru. Also he told us Vaheguru is everywhere, within the whole body not one point. Gurbani flows, so please stay in that flow. The Sun and Moon are said to have two different forms of energy. Bhagat ji is saying these two forms of energy are the light of Vaheguru. Within both of these energies is Vaheguru.

With your interpretation you are saying Vaheguru is the left eye and right eye. You are better off saying the source the power of both eyes is the light of Vaheguru. Still in the next tuk the meaning of antar does not change to mean "between". Antar still is defined as inside/within.

Within their light, is God, the incomparable.

    jotee antar barahm anoop.

(This is hinting that between the light of of the eyes is God)

No where in the tuk does the word between come in Gurmukhi. Even the translators did not make this huge mistake. The word antar in Gurmukhi means inside. Inside both of these energies is Vaheguru.

    O spiritual teacher, contemplate God.

    kar ray gi-aanee barahm beechaar.

Here you fail to explain how Bhagat Kabir ji is still telling us to focus on Vaheguru (Shabad). If Bhagat ji was talking about the third eye point, then why didnt he say in this tuk to focus on third eye point. Also it says Brahm Veechar and Brahm is contained in his creation. How can you stop such mistakes from being made when you are following the schools of thought that do not take the ignorance away. Maybe you do not know this but third eye technique is from the yoga school of thought. If a Hindu was reading this he would say Bhagat Kabir ji is saying to contemplate on the Devta Brahm. The kundalini yoga practisers understand Gurbani from their teachings, Hindus understand Gurbani from their teaching, Muslims understand from their teachings. All come in ego (my knowledge, which is ultimately know as ignorance) and do not understand the true essence.

In this light is contained the expanse of the created universe. ||1||Pause||

    jotee antar Dhari-aa pasaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Chalo, now i have to say Brahm is contained in his creation. Now im stuck worshipping Brahm. Brother Gurbani flows and we need to stay in this flow when it comes to interpreting Gurbani. Sorry if I used harsh language above. Just trying to deliver the point home.

Gazing upon the diamond, I humbly salute this diamond.

    heeraa daykh heeray kara-o aadays.

(Bhagat Kabir Ji internally sees a bright diamond like light which he mentally bows down to)

Your interpretation is colored with yoga thought. Read the Rahaao line. The diamond in this line is none other than Vaheguru. There is no Anhad and Naad sound greater than Gurbani and no diamond greater than Gurbani. Guru Sahib gave us the Anhad and Naad sound, which is Gurbani. Also gave us the diamond. Nothing is a mystery where we have to search for it.

Says Kabeer, the Immaculate Lord is indescribable.

    kahai kabeer niranjan alaykh.

Gurbani is self-explanatory. Bhagat ji tells us the diamond he was talking about is Vaheguru.

People of the world, remain awake and aware. Even though you are awake, you are being robbed, O Siblings of Destiny.

    dunee-aa husee-aar baydaar jaagat musee-at ha-o ray bhaa-ee.

(Robbed of what? Precious Swas which we should be using to jap and absorb into his name. Instead we are being lead astray in worldly thoughts of hopes, wishes, desires and other negative actions)

Brother stay in context. Bhagat ji just finished talking about how we are being robbed. Yes, the things that you listed are robbing us, but again stay in the context of the Shabad. Bhagat ji here is speaking about all the different schools of thoughts that take away a persons attention from doing simran of Vaheguru and into all this ignorant stuff like third eye, kundalini, breath control hearing sounds of Anhad, Naad, seeing lights and diamonds, etc. Its all pakhand. One reason why Gurbani is universal is because it corrects all the mistakes made by every school of thought. Everyone is told the correct way.

While the Vedas stand guard watching, the Messenger of Death carries you away. ||1||Pause||

    nigam husee-aar pahroo-aa daykhat jam lay jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.

He thinks that the bitter nimm fruit is a mango, and the mango is a bitter nimm. He imagines the ripe banana on the thorny bush.

neemb bha-i-o aaNb aaNb bha-i-o neembaa kaylaa paakaa jhaar.

He thinks that the ripe coconut hangs on the barren simmal tree; what a stupid, idiotic fool he is! ||1||

naalee-ayr fal saybar paakaa moorakh mugaDh gavaar. ||1||

The Lord is like sugar, spilled onto the sand; the elephant cannot pick it up.

har bha-i-o khaaNd rayt meh bikhri-o hasteeN chuni-o na jaa-ee.

Says Kabeer, give up your ancestry, social status and honor; be like the tiny ant - pick up and eat the sugar. ||2||3||12||

kahi kameer kul jaat paaNt taj cheetee ho-ay chun khaa-ee. ||2||3||12||

(Make your elephant mind so small like an ant by beating it with the shabad/gurmantar so it becomes still, stationary and thoughtless)

  18. Interpreting Gurbani takes hours. So please for next time be mindful of just copying and pasting Shabads without understanding them and jumping to nit picking interpretations. I could have jumped through the jumped to your interpretations but I didn't because the shabad needs to be explained from the beginning.

I believe you skipped over the most important part of the Shabad; the Bani upto the first rahaa-o. The whole Shabad is based on what Bhagat Kabir ji says up to the first rahaa-o. To correctly interpret this Shabad the rahaa-o must be addressed.

    Starting from Ang 971

Raamkalee, Second House, The Word Of Kabeer Jee:

raamkalee ghar 2 banee kabeer jee kee

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

    ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.

Maya, the Trapper, has sprung her trap.

    banDhach banDhan paa-i-aa.

Translator has said maya, but bandhach means, stuck in relationship. We are stuck in creational ties (relationships). Correct translation is, Creational relationships have trapped us in her trap.

The Guru, the Liberated One, has put out the fire.

    muktai gur anal bujhaa-i-aa.

What fire is Bhagat Kabir ji speaking of above? It is the fire of ignorance. The Brahmin said the women are evil due to their ignorance and did not allow her into the Holy Hindu temple. Women do not allow us to become liberated. The Yogis ran away from the world due to ignorance thinking normal everyday life was evil (attached to us to bondage). Yogis further ran away from the function of eating, drinking nourishing the body and like the todayKundalini practisers, ran to the aid of the breath. The Yogis lived for thousands of years, but still could not take the darkness, the fire of ignorance away. The Pandits study for many years they still could not stop the burning fire of ignorance. Many ways, methods, and techniques are tried, but none brought the fire of ignorance to a halt. Through these other methods the fire keeps on burning. What did Bhagat Kabir ji do as this Shabad says? Bhagat ji sat at the feet of Satguru Guru Nanak and said you are my protector.

When I came to understand this mind, from the tips of my toes to the crown of my head,

jab nakh sikh ih man cheenHaa.

What mind is Bhagat Kabir ji speaking of that controls the body from head to all the way to the feets toe nail? Bhagat ji is speaking of Vaheguru here. With Satgurus kirpa I, Bhagat Kabir ji have understood Vaheguru. It will be explained later why Kabir ji is talking about Vaheguru here and not just the human body. Bhagat ji also says here that I have understood the creation of Vaheguru. Once I understood Vaheguru, then in the next line Bhagat ji says the following happened.

then I took my cleansing bath, deep within my self.

    tab antar majan keenHaa.

The fire, the filth, the maya of ignorance has gone and now I have become pure after realizing Vaheguru. To get rid of the ignorance this is the cleanse bath deep within. Bhagat ji has achieved this highest exalted state.

The mind, the master of the breath, abides in the state of supreme bliss.

    pavanpat unman rahan kharaa.

The mind (controller) Vaheguru is supreme bliss. The human mind is not the controller (master) of the breath. By controlling the breath, which the Kudanalini practisers try to do, the mind is not controlled or the fire is not burnt out. The breath is materialistic, a part of creation (5 elements) and its control amounts not to the ultimate state, not even a glimpse. Neither does one have to control the breath to achieve the supreme bliss Bhagat ji says above. Those that control the breath are in ignorance, maya and have not escaped the Dharm Raj (Death).

There is no death, no re-birth, and no aging for me now. ||1||Pause||

nahee mirat na janam jaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.

This is where it becomes perfectly clear that Bhagat ji is not speaking about the body, but speaking of Vaheguru as the body, mind, and supreme bliss. Bhagat Ji says above there is no old age for him after become mukht (liberated). If he was talking about the body then Bhagat ji is kidding himself. Bhagat jis body and human mind (physical brain) got old and grey. However Bhagat ji, his true essence, true self after receiving the kirpa of Satguru was released from death, re-birth and old age.

After understanding the above we can go further and interpret the Shabad. The above is the most crucial part as you can see above. Those attached to Yoga (Kundalini yoga, Hatha Yoga, etc) are told to stop their acts in ignorance of third eye and everything. Bhagat ji gives the instructions of taking Satguru Nanak as their protector and then walk.

Turning away from materialism, I have found intuitive support.

    ultee lay sakat sahaaraN.

Bhagat ji is saying I have turned away from maya and received release from ignorance.

I have entered into the sky of the mind, and opened the Tenth Gate.

    paiseelay gagan majhaaraN.

The chakras of the coiled Kundalini energy have been opened,

    bayDhee-alay chakar bhuangaa.

and I have met my Sovereign Lord King without fear. ||2||

    bhaytee-alay raa-ay nisangaa. ||2||

Everything has to be kept into context. I know those that practice Kundalini yoga will want to say Kundalini yoga opens the tenth gate, Kundalini energy and we can meet Vaheguru. But this is nit picking at Gurbani and not taking the Bani up to the Rahaao line as relevant to what Bhagat Kabir ji is saying above. Taking in the Bani up to the Rahaao line Bhagat Kabir ji is saying:

    ਮੁਕਤੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਅਨਲੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥

    मुकतै गुरि अनलु बुझाइआ ॥

    Mukṯai gur anal bujẖā▫i▫ā.

The Guru, the Liberated One, has put out the fire.

I understood Vaheguru and everything said above has happened for me. I did not take your ignorant path (Kundalini yoga, hatha yoga, controlling breath, etc) to accomplish the ultimate goal of meeting Vaheguru.

Like the black bee they surrender at the lotus feet of Guru and enjoy the sap and remain happy.

Analogy of surrendering the mind before the lotus feet of the Guru.

Yes it is an analogy, I agree. It is the key to this Vaar so lets explore it. The bee (Sikh) does everything for the queen bee (the Guru). As long as this bee stays surrendered to the queen bee it is happy and enjoys the fruits of obeying to the queen bee. The amount of dedication to the queen bee is presented when the bee has to fight for the queen bees home from predators. The bee, no matter how big the predator is, will attack the predator. In the process of the attack the bee knows it only has one sting and with that one sting it will also die.

They go beyond the triveni of ira, pingala and sukhamanaa and stabilize in their own self.

They pass the triveni (aka 3rd eye) of ida, pingala and sukhmana to reach nij ghar also known as dassam duar. Like I stated in my earlier posts you bathe at triveni, not stay seated there permanently. Eventually one will rise above it with the aid of the Anhad Shabads and Naad. When one has a bath he doesn't stay sitting in the bath forever, eventually you get out and move on. Similarly before one enters the court of the lord one bathes at this point in the Shabad.

Bhai Gurdas ji is saying those that follow the Gurus path are stable in their body because they did not follow the third eye point technique. The people that surrender to the Guru are above the third eye point technique. You comment about bathing at triveni. But Guru Sahib says apply the Shabad (Gurbani) to the mind. The mind is to bathe in the Shabad.

saahi saahi man pavan liv soha(n) ha(n)saa japai japaavai||

They through the flame of breath, mind and the life force, recite and make others recite the soham and hans recitations (jap).

With each and every breath (inhale/exhale) they get their mind/surti to merge into the breath by having it jap the soham - hansaa mantra. This is a very old school mantra to thread the mind smoothly into the breath. (Soooo on inhale, haaam on exhale) The mantra is also designated as Hamsa, Hansa, Sohum, So Ham, or So Hum. The Soham mantra is also called the Hamsa mantra. Hamsa (or hansa) poses the question, Who am I? Soham provides the answer, I am that. Lets be clear here I am no way suggesting people drop the Waheguru mantra in place of Soham. Similarly the Waheguru mantar can be used instead of Soham.

Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji (ang 1092) and Bhagat Kabir ji (ang 1162) mention this jap of Soham and hans in their Bani. Bhai Gurdas ji is using this jap reference in the same way it is used in Gurbani. This is the jap, He is me, and I am Him while using breathing techniques. Understand this jap from a Sikhi frame of reference. If you dont, then we run into many problems when it comes to practicing/interpreting Gurbani. Here is a small example that everyone will know of, it comes in Rehraas Sahib.

Nā ha▫o jaṯī saṯī nahī paṛi▫ā mūrakẖ mugḏẖā janam bẖa▫i▫ā.

I am not celibate, nor truthful, nor scholarly. I was born foolish and ignorant into this world.

Paraṇvaṯ Nānak ṯin kī sarṇā jin ṯū nāhī vīsri▫ā. ||2||3||

Prays Nanak, I seek the Sanctuary of those who have not forgotten You, O Lord! ||2||3||

If we were to interpret jati as celibate here we are in a whole lot of trouble. Today no Sikh would be married or have kids. The Gurus would be going against their own Bani by having kids. But we are not so silly to say jati means celibate. Jati here has to be translated into a Sikhi frame of reference. The Soham and Hans jap uttered without the Guru is said without understanding. Without the Guru this jap is bound by the breath and bounds the person to the three qualities and 5 elements. Guru Sahib says on ang 1092 to jap Soham and Hans with the Gurus knowledge of, He is me and I am him. In this way you will start jap of Vaheguru. Bhai Gurdas Ji starts this Vaar by saying surrender to the Guru. So Bhai Gurdas ji is saying do this jap with the understanding of the Guru. Which is the Gurmantar given to us by the Gurus; Vaheguru simran. Vaheguru jap is not bound by the breath and those that do the Soham and Hans jap in this way will not be bound as well.

The form of surati is wonderfully fragrant and enrapturing.

You will experience incomparable sights and fragrances as the mind, mantra and breath are tied together

In the way Guru Sahib says on 1092 and further explained shabad on ang 1092 of Guru Sahib by me above. If in this way you do jap then you will become the beautiful fragrant that comes from Gurbani.

The Gurmukhs calmly absorb in the pleasure-ocean of the Guru feet.

They merge into a state of sehaj which is the pleasure-ocean of the Guru's feet.

    I agree.

When they in the form of pleasure-fruit obtain the supreme joy, they go beyond the bondages of body and bodylessness and attain the highest station.

With the Mind focused towards the Guru it rises above the attachments of the body.

Yes, but to add the Gurmukh goes beyond all of creation. Gurmukh resides in Sachkhand at this point. Even though the Gurmukh may be still on this earth. The Gurmukhs has realized Vaheguru with no attachment to that will perish. This Gurmukh has his full attention on the shabad even though he walks on this earth like everyone else.

    saadhhasa(n)gath mil alakh lakhaavai

Such Gurmukhs have the glimpse of that invisible Lord in the Holy Congregation.

Once he realises that Waheguru is within himself, then it is only right that Waheguru is everywhere and in every being. Hence where ever he looks he sees Waheguru.

Das has probably made countless mistakes here and does ardas that Waheguru himself show the correct way via direct experience.
