As Singhni Miri Piri has stated, it shows weakness in Sikhi if Guru Sahib believed that. Guru Sahib has shown numerous times in his life that sikhi doesn't hold a place for weak human insticts and survival. In JKVLondon's example, I would accept death by starvation happily knowing I had no access to vegetation. No Sikh should be afraid of death.
All your claims about Guru Sahib allowing meat is false. All these stories are made up. A "Sikh" who kills an animal is no Gursikh but just a person dressed up as a Sikh. This type of person will be punished in the afterlife for harming animals without doubt.

OK...seeing as you're one of the enlightened ones: Whats so different about Randhir Singh cutting Guru ji's limbs off because it didn't fit with his qualli style of music and these modern day 'missionaries' that want to cut some limbs off because it doesn't fit in with their thinking ?

You obviously do not care to hear an answer otherwise you would ask these questions on the gurmat bibek website or any of the mentioned Sikhs in person who are there to answer questions like these which I already stated in my previous post. I once had a conversation with an AKJ follower who tried to tell me how special Randhir Singh Grewal because he could turn copper into gold, and indeed that was one of the main reasons many came to follow him in the first place. The fact that the UK born AKJ follower said that to me though, revealed 2 things: Firstly, how uneducated the average Sikh in Punjab was in those days and secondly how badly educated many of the current generation of UK born Sikhs still are. You see, Randhir Singh was an educated man and he knew that those lacking education could be easily made to follow. So, I told my AKJ friend that if he was so easily impressed with such basic chemistry than he should get me a 2 penny coin, a glass cup and some zinc sulpate. Within a couple of minutes I said, I too will be able to turn copper into silver. And if has some strong heat available I could turn that silver into gold. Just like Randhir Singh. But there's 2 things to remember here: I'm not the type of person that wants to get uneducated people to follow me by performing science 'tricks' for them and in this day and age western born Sikhs should be educated enough to understand that a man that took away Raagmala from Gurbani because he personally didn't care for it too much is exactly the same as the modern day 'missionaries' who also want to cut some of Guru Ji's limbs off because they don't particularly care for them too much.

I think the laughable jakara movement in the US is dangerously anti-sikh, its many contributors are feminist militant ideologically aligned and they not have any or much pro-sikh credentials.
Our Sikhs should challenge people behind jakara and Sikh women organisational groups because i remember they posted a video few years back where so called Sikh women in short mini skirts were asking if men can go clubs why cant we? Like hello your a Sikh woman and as a person of faith you shouldnt be concerned about going club or not as a Sikh woman you uphold the values of what a Sikh woman does ie be modest and dress modestly you dont see muslim women on muslim videos promoting why cant they go clubs if muslim guys can what the hell is it with some moronic women without our community that been brain washed with this very dangerous version of feminist sikhism? where did this come about? "oh i love my anti-sikh boyfriend because god says we are all one and it doesnt matter what your partner follows" come on our women in our faith really that messed up these days. If so then movements like jakara are to blame for brainwashing girls in the wrong direction and not brainwashing them in to increasing the number of Sikhs in the world.
Feminist twisted version of Sikhs blames all the ill's on men and does not promote the virtues of women in fact it promotes hatred of men. Personally I would not allow any platform and discussion of domestic abuse of women unless they is domestic abuse of men and domestic abuse against kids which mothers usually are guilty of. I have seen in many households the woman will instigate verbal or emotional abuse on males within her family which can lead to retaliatory verbal or physical abuse. Or sometimes physical abuse of the husband because the woman suspected he was cheating on her financial troubles or in-laws issues.
We need to metaphorically speaking slap down any feminist who doesnt want to promote sikhism and doesnt want to promote equal treatment and only concentrate on just "womens rights". Men have rights too and they need to be respected more so because without men there would be no Sikhism. We forget that women psychosocially want a man to take the lead and be in charge and "be a man" they want their cake and eat it. They are emotionally unstable creatures not their fault its just how nature / God made them. So to give women extraordinary power and rights without correcting them where they go wrong and putting them in their place will eventually lead the community into oblivion. In this world Nature and Waheguru respects the strong you just have to observe how the world and nature how the strong survive and the weak get trampled on.
If Sikhs allow feminists to breed within the faith and constantly self hate ourselves instead of the aggressors who attack our people and we as a community are not strongly spiritually, physically, emotionally and intellectually, and fiercely proud to be Sikh then Sikhs will be in history books.

Guru Sahib worked hard to bring about equality of women and to show the world that both genders have the same roles and status and are not limited to men. It's a view held by Muslims and for men who should be living in caves. Remember how ONE SINGHNI, Mata Bhag Kaur Jee brought sense, truth and courage back into the 40 SINGHS and led them back to helping Guru Sahib due to their weak nature and abandonment of Guru Sahib. Men did not create Sikhi, all other religions were created by men as they all have rules that favour men, but not Sikhi, Vaheguru created Sikhi and Vaheguru is formless. He is only represented as a husband symbolically, just as we are all represented as brides including the men. There is nothing else for me to say on this, so argue all you like with yourself.

Keep on talking to God like you are doing, God is listening and even if God doesn't respond it doesn't matter. But the more closer you connect yourself with naam and bani the more God will listen and will eventually respond. God doesn't respond because we lack true love, compassion, innocence, selflessness and humility. And you will obtain these virtues from naam and bani as Gurbani states numerous times. Naam and bani are there to perfect us. And naam comes from taking Amrit. But preparation for amrit is very important. You are doing fine as you are right now, but keep on learning more and regardless of learning and coming more into Sikhi never stop talking to God and never let intolerance, ego and cruelty come into your being. Finally, even though naam and bani perfect us and turn us into angelic beings with an abundance of virtues, remember to always practice these virtues yourself in your mind, speech and action, virtues like the ones mentioned above. There are a lot of Sikhs who do not practice those virtues but still think of themselves as perfect sikhs. In Japji Sahib, it tells us that Compassion is the Father of Religion. So, if a Sikh lacks compassion how can they call themselves a Sikh?

Homosexual lifestyle and Sikhi are incompatible. The Akal Takht has given it's ruling on this matter clearly stating that a Sikh must only marry with the opposite gender. Besides this, no where in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee will you find any thing in support of homosexuality. In fact in Gurbani, Guru Jee always looks at marriage as between a man and woman. What's interesting is even the spiritual relation between the Jeev Aatma and Parmaatma(Vaheguru) is metaphorically mentioned as one between a wife and husband.
There is no historic precedent of homosexuality in Sikh ithihaas. Since the start Gursikhs have only married women. Guru Granth Sahib jee is our Guru that saves us from Kalyugi induced kaami lifestyles. People are born with all sorts of perverse tendencies such as pedophilia, zoophilia, incest, doesn't mean people should give in to their animalistic urges.
Homosexuality is a maansic rog that violates natural law, besharmi dhi gal hai!!. It is shameful that so called Niara Khalsa are gradually being converted to this way of thinking. I guess if you brainwash people long enough they can be sold anything, no matter how disgusting. Just like the natural sex partner of man is not an animal, it is not someone of the same sex in humans. Gupt organs have a purpose, to produce and extend lineage, impossible for Gays/Lesbians. Taking tukhs like 'Maanas ki jaat' out of context is another ridiculous point that pro gays use. Since when does this line condone same sex partnerships.

Firstly, this has nothing to do with it whether it is allowed in sikhi or not.
Secondly, I would never listen to the Akaal Takht – how many rules have been changed there and how many indecent rules do they have e.g. females cannot do kirtan at harmindar sahib and how about giani gumukh singh musafar of Akal Takht made it non-mandatory for women to wear a dastar just because his wife stopped wearing it. The rules at akal takht change according to their own mentality which has nothing to do with Gurmat.
Thirdly, what I am disgusted is that you are saying that homosexuality is one of the signs of corruption in the world and that we should live like 2 decades ago when there was more hardship and cruelty shown to homosexuals. Homosexuals cannot be forced to be any other way since that is the way they are.
Sikhs believe in reincarnation – being born as the opposite gender in their next life they might still have emotional attachment (not always kaam attraction) to the same gender just like those who were of the same gender in their previous like will still have it for the opposite in this life. Sikhi also teaches compassion, therefore we should be far more understanding than that and that doesn’t mean we allow it in Sikhi but you are treating them like filth just like Muslims and Christians do. You’re showing you are no different than them and that you have not learnt anything different from Guru Sahib compared to those religions.
What is also funny is that rather than picking on the real crimes around the world like trafficking, IS, rape gangs, African women being raped, North Korean prison camps, you are more concerned about the openness of people's sexuality. since we are talking about ending the evils of kalyug ...how will the evildoers be punished by akal purakh ki fauj ? in the many interpretations of kalki story there is mention of a disease that kills many sounds like a haemmorhgaic fever type thing. But will Khalsa kill the murderers, rapists, paedophiles, and other adharmi dushts or be like akal purakh and neutral/dayavaan and leave it to Akal Purakh?
The existence of khalsa is pointless if they don't destroy murderers, rapists, paedophiles etc and save and protect the innocent because one of the qualities mentioned in gurbani is to become a parupakari. Also, in jaap sahib one of Vaheguru's qualities is to destroy tyrants and to protect the innocent, and a sikh should be aiming to achieve all of vaheguru's qualities and become a pure embodiment of these qualities, hence a khalsa.

The Truth has been delivered by Akal Purakh into this world itself, to reign supreme throughout time in the body of the Guru Granth: Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and Guru Panth: Khalsa, Akal Purakh ki fauj. When those two things have truly established then what force /evil can not be subdued? I think Bhai Sahib, Bhai Jeevan Singh ji and other Gurpiare have said it , we have to build the true khalsa from the inside in every country, on every soil, in every language, now that is all it would take to establish dharam again.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh's raj was not true Khalsa Raj as the panth did not hold sway over proceedings and decisions were made by a falliable individual not Sarbat Khalsa as had been. I long for the day of Khalsa Raj and seeing Sikhs everywhere
Dharam won't be established as long as people do not understand the meaning of compassion. I would like to see the day when all people living in this world become disciplined, understand between right and wrong, are selfless, compassionate and honest among other qualities - whether they choose to be sikhs or not is up to them, but i would welcome them any day compared to the sikhs we have now.

One of the signs of the coming of Kalki will be the breakdown of centuries long moral codes. People will lose all their sharm. We can already see in front of us how homosexuality which was a taboo subject just two decades ago is now encouraged and thriving all over the world. In fact you will get some on this very forum supporting this perversion. And this is just the start. The final and most perverted thing will be incest. You must be mad to compare homosexuality to incest. The world isn't black and white, there are different kinds of people living in it, not just straight people. It's not a trend and its not something to cure, its how they feel about who they are and something we should respect and support. To compare it to kaam is ridiculous too, as if straight people are perfect and non-kaami people when I've even seen young sikhs getting married because they are attached to kaam. People who think this way are living in a small, sheltered world, and a world that they do not understand. Just because you are in a religion that doesn't mean you are confined to a certain way and cannot be open-minded...other religious texts speak more openly about denouncing homosexuality compared to Guru Granth Sahib Jee which doesn't. Guru Sahib is more open-minded that is why, plus as Gurbani states other religious texts are false and I can understand why, they literally feel as if they have been written by men living in a certain time, accustomed to a certain barbaric and narrow-minded way. Guru Sahib thought outside the box regardless of his time period e.g. he preached gender equality in a time when men were so proud, cruel and stupid not to understand such a concept.

Was reading purana earlier just seemed to suggest his birth will comes in the depths of kalyug much worse than it is now and there is no talk of Sikhi at all,just that the hindus and semitics all have left their granths and dharams and are embroiled in evil; just as we are experiencing now, loads of pseudo religions formed lasting for short bursts of time no real hope or true people. Yea I noticed that too, it seemed as if Sikhi didn't exist. It does mention the corruption of the world being based around false religions and corrupt people, but regardless of religion or not, there are a lot of people on this planet who do not have a religion but are better than those with religion. Additionally, I think the story of Kalki is just a story about something he does it doesn't mean Sikhs wouldn't exist in the world, Sikhs would have their own story. Even if he is a Sikh, he will be a false sikh nonetheless, even if that means he knows his future and that he knows he'll become egotistic but it’s to prove some point, he's still meant to represent a false Sikh. And I believe there will be false sikhs in the future, that doesn't mean they won’t be practicing the physical and some spiritual sense of sikhi, it means they won't be practicing sikhi to the heart of Gurmat - they will lack the right qualities and judgement, therefore making a lot of their actions false, heartless and selfish to only benefit their own people.
We shouldn't really worry about or wait for all these figures like kalki, or a gurmukh like sant jarnail singh, baba deep singh etc to come into this world and take care of everything. There are a lot of wrong things that happen in the world right now like you said, and we should be thinking that we ourselves should take care of it and give peace and protection to the innocent (innocent not meaning only people with religion) but everyone. Look at North Korea for example or the rape of women in Africa etc. If we cannot physically help these people we should at least devote our naam and bani to them, and for ourselves to be gifted with the power to one day be a hero that protects and saves these people and others around the world.

Kalki avtar isn't a pooran gursikh, we all know that he becomes consumed by his pride and demands everyone to recite his name. He doesn't represent Guru Gobind Singh Jee, which a Khalsa is supposed to represent. Therefore, he cannot establish khalsa raj if he is not one himself. Stop being so blind to the facts.

Your understanding of the line is wrong. I've had discussions over this line with older Gursikhs, who are very knowledgeble and well-versed in Gurbani, years ago and they have said it is referring to Guru Sahib, not to Mohammed. The only true prophet is Guru Sahib, all else are false due to being under the influence of ego and haumai.

Baba Farid Ji lived and preached according to Gurmat. Sufi's are non-Muslims by definition.

Pir Buddhu Shah, Sain Mian Mir and Pir Bikhan Shah were all non-Muslim Sufi spiritualists who lived and preached according to Gurmat. Sufi's are not Muslims. We all know that those who slander anyone especially those of a pure heart are cursing themselves. When did I say in my post that what these cartoonists are doing is good and fun? They lack morals and that is why they do not understand that to respect others is to show understanding, maturity and care but they think it shows fear and lack of “freedom”. So how do you respond to that? By showing them that you lack even more morals by killing them? Or by dealing with it peacefully through protest and petitions?
Your sense of Unconditional love and complete obedience is mistaken and doesn’t mean to murder a slanderer. Also, what does to fight back in defence mean? It means if someone is physically attacking you, you will fight in defence and that cannot be compared to verbal abuse such as the cartoonists. Shasterdhari? Sikhs wear a Kirpan to protect others, not to kill like barbarians.
Atheism and agnosticism isn’t a crime and are not causing harm to others, and some of those who live under such ways have shown to be better people by living with each other more peacefully compared to some of those who are part of a religion. Many Muslims have proven this by killing others and even those from their own community and so have those Buddhists living in Sri Lanka by killing Muslims. Look at how segregated Sikhs are amongst each other. It is better to look at the positive side of everything, rather than insulting western lifestyle.

What these muslims did is psychotic, barbaric and evil and cannot be compared to the cartoonists. If the same was done of Guru Sahib, and "Sikhs" resorted to the same actions by murdering innocent people don't think Guru Sahib will have a smile on his face after seeing those who are supposed to be representing him behave like crazy animals. Throughout Sikh history tolerance and peace was a powerful tool in Sikhi. Guru Sahib portrayed humility and tolerance in numerous accounts when he had been disrespected by others. For instance, Guru Amar Das Jee was kicked by Datu and did not show hate back. Guru Arjun Dev Jee was tortured in horrible ways and Pir Mian Mir wished to turn the muslim army into ashes with his shakti but Guru Sahib refused and told them that it was Vaheguru’s sweet will. In 1978, Shaheed Fauja Singh and the other Shaheeds went to have a peaceful protest, not to slaughter the Nirankaris, who were slandering Guru Sahib. Sikhs are supposed to represent Guru Sahib, we were created to show the world a better standard of living such as create a peaceful world, respect others, care, tolerance and protect others, not to put fear into others, bully them and terrorize them. In the end who would do the most damage to Sikhi and Guru Sahib, the cartoonist or the murderous "Sikhs"?
I'm shocked that the people here are caring more about the terrorists than the innocent people who were murdered. Those people need to take a good look in the mirror and think about changing and becoming better Sikhs for Guru Sahib.

Then do what you want. If your parents are fine with it, why are you even asking on here. I have wasted my time on what I thought was trying to help, but I am missing the point somewhere, and after Ops last post have misunderstood the first post.
Still don't understand what the point being made is.
If it's aimed at those being forced to marry and giving options to do seva in their instead, great from that view as nobody should be forced to marry.
But really not getting who has to say no.
If you had put all this in your first post, there would have been no confusion. But it also sounds like you are belittling those that have got married. That isn't a very clever thing to pray do, as now your last post saying something different.
Your family is happy with you and you are happy, so why are you even trying to encourage youngsters not to get a life, If you think everybody has been forced that's wrong too.
Good luck with your personal satisfaction. But your posts are confusing, first you say your mom thinks your selfish, now its a totally different story. Good you want to do seva, go for and do it. And youngsters being forced to get married nowadays is not like before.
There is so much freedom compared to when your parents probably got married.

You disrespected the OP in a lot of ways, such as insulting her decision even though she's mentioned amazing things like doing seva and you expect equal "respect"?? We should think more about what we say because if it hurts someone it will most definitely affect our spiritual jeevan. The OP is a good person and shes shown that in her posts.

All the singhs/singhnia keep on doing is juggling meaningless and wrong opinions. No one can say not having children is wrong. No one can say why Guru Sahib did what he did. Those who did bhagti in that time had a general thinking that marriage was wrong if enlightenment and meditation was the aim of life. You could say Guru Sahib got married to show them that they are wrong and it can happen either way. And numerous Gursikhs have shown that. Anything that is not clear-cut in Gurbani is just speculating.
To think marriage and children is highly important in Gurmat or generally in life is primitive, animals have children too. Nothing special. More special is to physically help people around the world that need help.
Singhnia are free to live whatever life they want. They are not going against Gurmat. Those who say they are can just be ignored because all humans commonly are attached to marriage and children and feel intimidated when they see someone who wishes not to live that lifestyle.
None of you singhs and singhnia who claim that marriage and children is Gurmat truly understand Gurmat. Gurbani also goes against the attachment of your spouse and children, but that doesn't mean you use that to say marriage and children is false. You singhs are not God, so you have no right to tell your sisters what to do. Again, Singhnia are free to practice what they wish as long as they are helping others and aiming to befriend Vaheguru, just as a married couple should be doing and Vaheguru Jee will be happy with that person.
Also, someone mentioned an old line, which I've heard billions of times "How will Sikhi carry on?". The answer is: Vaheguru is in control, Vaheguru is in this play and will do whatever he pleases in it. This view sounds closer to Islam, which is a flop and failure. Vaheguru can spread Sikhi through others who are already living. Look at Buddhism, they should be extinct by now but most people love Buddhism and want to follow that way of life. This proves that Sikhs are not even practicing Gurmat properly if there is nothing encouraging others. Buddhists look really peaceful and innocent. The only things sikhs give great importance to is marriage and that's their purpose of having children so that their children have more children. We haven't even become a community focused on the practice of kindness, innocence, humility and meditation. Instead we are just living a normal marriage life and then claim ourselves to be following Gurmat.

You know your self and what you want. Whenever I wanted something I knew it, I have never gone onto a forum asking others to tell me what to do with my life. Secondly, you do not need to quote Gurbani. Gurbani only tells us about uniting with Vaheguru. When Gurbani refers to living in society all it is talking about is earning a honest living e.g. having a job. Marriage is just an addition.
Ignore those who misquote gurbani (1268) like Singhbj. We are all Vaheguru's soul brides. There is only one marriage that is important and that is the one with Vaheguru. Every other marriage only exists to assist in doubling Naam Bhagti but the truth is if you truly love Vaheguru you will be able to find vaheguru easily and quickly without the need to double your bhagti. Also, ignore those who are telling you that you will become weak to temptation. It may be their own flaw and weakness but not everyone is the same. Most of these people look for marriage for the wrong reasons.
Like Berserk said, if you do want to get married you need to look for a friend. Otherwise a greater friend can be found in Vaheguru if you decide not to get married.
