  1. From what I've noticed the younger (and even older UK, Canada and American born etc) absolutely adore simran but absolutely abhor dhadis. They detest it.

I'm gonna be honest here and say that I usually get up and go downstairs to the langar hall whenever the dhadi ragis come on stage. It's a musical artform that is at least 100 years past it's sell-by date and is, quite frankly, usually somewhat offensive to the ears.

Beautifull kirtan, simran, is what draws the younger sangat towards the gurdwara. Even when they can't understand it the sheer blissful beauty draws them in. The dhadis have the complete opposite effect.

Maybe we should utilise tech to translate the dhadhi vaars so people would understand the spoken eulogogy of our shaheeds and gurus , there are modern dhadhis too although they often sing acapella

  2. Sikh means to learn an to learn you have to question thinks an analyze the information

Regards to respect for our guru granth sahib I believe the way our gurus wanted us to respect the guru granth sahib was by respecting the teachings by practising them

Sikhi teaches us to respect knowledge an the guru granth sahib provided knowledge so the way I see it the best way to respect knowledge is by learning it an practising it

Maybe you forget what SIkhs sing when doing Sukhasan of Guru ji,

" jitthe jahey bahey mera Satguru so thaan suhave Ram rajey,

Gursikhi so thaan paalea , leh hey dhurdh mukh lawa , dhurdh mukh lawa"

since Bani Guru Guru hai Bani, where that bani is , that place is/becomes holy ... it cannot be firstly printed with other manmat/koordh then our Guru , same way The electronic devices filled with gandh are not a fit place for Guru ji . Guru ji has its own special resting place whether on a page, or a device, a mind or a hirda. Instead of secretly breaking someone property which is not your haq to break, try to talk to the person , give them a chance to repair the situation themselves if then then refuse then you can do what you feel is necessary.

  3. one thing gurdwaras can do is show how people can remain agnostic if they want to and still apply Sikh teachings to improve their lives

one way is educating people on power of meditation and how it neuroplasticity explains the healthy effects on meditations on the brain

an why atheists like sam harris follow Buddhist philosophy with out believing in any higher power or superstitions

Not really the function of a gurdwara ...it is a dharamshala, a place of learning, and doing vichar of dharam so all they would hear is how Sikhi works and what it believes . They are welcome now, always have been to join in and ask and learn.

Obviously you have not been in the company of Buddhists, they have superstitions too and pray to devte too, so they also believe in higher powers.

  4. personally I would ignore it an not really care what the person has on the laptop an the reason why I believe this would be the best way to deal with the situation is because I don't believe in idol worship or rituals cause guru nanak asked his followers to be logical and rational an reject hindu traditions of idol worship and rituals

what would you personally do and why?

    Mr mangat ,

so far this week every posted topic you have started is to stir up bad feelings ... are you not a happy bunny in yourself that's why you are acting like a troll? Kirpa kar ke understand this Any true sikh will listen to His Guru's bachan which is Bani, Rehitnamey and direct example given by their worldly conduct and follow that. If Guru Arjan Dev ji gave the utmost respect to Adi Granth Sahib being the anointed Guru who are you or anyone else to disregard that example? Guru Granth Sahib ji is our Guru and we will show respect as our gurmatta indicates . If you prefer to be a Gur-nindak by saying Gurui Arjan Dev ji was being superstitious/ritualistic be my guest ... see you again after your tour in Narak.

  5. Ayurveda fans - it also highly recommends cow urine drinking as a cure for all ailments.

I think this is degenerating into an ego argument instead of an exchange of ideas.

World's longest and healthiest living populations e.g in okinawa do not consume any dairy and very little meat.

I am myself a vegan for about 2 years now and have shed 40 pounds , and my LDL cholesterol has dropped to an incredibly low levels.

are you eating coconut oil/avocadoes/palm oil from time to time...? so body can produce hormones properly?
  6. Martin Luther was a dharmic banda who tried to bring the corrupt practices of the roman catholic church to light and remove them from the lives of his parishoners. Mr Kala Afgani is the nindak of Dashmesh Pita and has openly declared that Dasam Bani in Dasam Granth is false and should be removed from amritdhari Sikh's Nitnem and should not be given any form of respect .

NO the two are not the same .

Luther wanted the corrupt practice of selling pardons on behalf of God to stop known as 'indulgences', the exploitation of ordinary folk who were lead to believe only by donating to the church and doing good deeds one got into heaven, whereas he preached that it is by God's Grace alone, and he started pushing for the bible and sermons were to be delivered in the language of the people not in obscure Latin (kind of how sanskrit is used to obscure meaning from ordinary hindus). He also introduced the marriage of clergymen i.e. grisht jiwan.

Kala Afghana is not a human with small ambitions he wants to be the one to convince the whole Sikh world that their Father could not have written Dasam Granth , that it is a total fabrication . If someone maligns the daily Nitnem of millions of Sikhs over the past three hundred years this is not a small thing. That the Taksalis have spent the same time reading kachi bani . It is clear his agenda is to break Sikhs with their heritage and thus weaken them enough to be easy to pick off by the RSS and other Hindu fundamentlists. He has stated that only two banis were spoken vaisakhi 1699, that there were no patasey, no amrit given to Guru Ji, that some chalak Brahmin has altered the history... what of the 35000 who had amrit that day surely they would know ?... anyway he is a sikh no more not that he was ever

  7. Bibeki Veero

the rust-free variety of batey have something mixed in LOh or it just more refined ? would like to know before investing in set for home. When we were young Mum and Dad had both types, I know both can get rusty from the number of scrubbing sessions before programs at home.

if you're in US have you tried sikhstuff.com ?

  8. They were offering flowers to a painting of Guru Sahib. I don't think Maharaj's saroop was there, unless the cameraman didn't focus purposely, otherwise the Singhs would have made it clear that they have to sit on the floor.

Hanji, that is true. There shouldn't be any VIP treatment for anyone in Guru's Darbar.

fookat karam by fookat people , if he wanted to show sharda he should have offered Phool to Living and ever-present Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji by going to Gurudwara Sis Ganj and attending kirtan there . I'm sure security could be in play for that easily.

Did anyone notice that they have started to do shastr display in front of their devi/devta , apna nakal mare rehe han?

  9. Living in India I have always heard of people saying dudh te puth and ghee kaoinga ta takra hovenga. I remember seeing a documentary about south india martial arts in which the guys would drink a cup of some sort of oil/fat and then they would work out

Nani used to say ghee is better for health than makhan , but if health is bad barjiz barjiz barjiz ....chaati vich pani, phir pani ridhko ... hawa di chakki piiouna man we spent good times in our hols !

  10. and on top of that, they have a special place , with a ribbon barrier

I someone on the same link just clarified that , there was no prakash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji

    however

it still doesnt change the fact that sangat is equal and they all mut be equally sat, as gurbani is being sung

They kind of remind me of defendants at a trial, don't worry Waheguru ehna pakhandian di sodha karega

  11. wahegurujikakhalsa wahegurujikifateh

this is so idiotic , people are sitting on chairs, the 3 monkeys infront are sitting on special stools .

is Delhi committee soo blind? who allowed this?

there was a time when even akbar sat in langar and had food with everyone else.

Look why are you even surprised? DSGMC president was claiming Badal was doing panthic efforts ....what a bunch of RSS Boot-lickers

  12. Ayurveda can be wrong too - how come animals in nature never get any of chronic diseases that affect us like heart disease, diabetes , hypertension , strokes etc (without consuming any breast milk from other species)

Even in india there is too much oxytocin use to boost milk production.

shows that we are losing our gurmatta in the treatment of our animals and environment, Nani ji would have boiled the bakalian and put gurd and enriched it further and fed the cow so the milk would be nutritious for the calf, and would feed the animals before sitting to eat herself 'je oh bechare gal nahin kar sakde, usi fahda nahin utta sakde ohna nu ve piare dehna chahida' I miss her...such a wise gursikh

  13. Syed Prithipal Singh was a Muslim Kashmiri who went on Islamical studies & Hajj tour to the Arabian peninsula. During his studies in Medina he came across a contemponary account of Guru Nanak Sahibs Arab visit and greatness. Therafter Mushtaq Ahmed became Prithipal Singh.

This news has been online since more than a year but no scholar has published these books which are very essential for Sikh Parchaar and (Dawah) countering.

There are also manuscripts (contemponaries of Guru Nanak Sahib) perishing due to neglect and lack of scholarly interest in these. Many of these manuscripts by non Sikh people of that time in different languages talk of miracles. One such manuscript comes to mind about Guru Nanak Sahibs visit to Orissa. There are texts about visits to Tibet aswel who are guarded by monks along with statues of Guru Nanak Sahib.

Maybe goes to prove we shouldn't be sniffy about learning other languages and going on a search ourselves and engaging the custodians of this knowledge before the powers that 'wannabe' destroy it or disappear it

  14. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh!

It is just sooner or later that more and more evidence will begin to appear of Sri Satguru Nakak Dev Ji Maharaj's journey. I may not even be suprised if any evidence is found within the U.K.

It makes sense Guru ji travelled to/ through the main religious centres of all the faiths existing , Buddhism, Hinduisn, Jain, Islam, christianity so I think that Guru must have travelled through Judea too...to spread naam and Dhur ki Bani Dhan Dhan Guru Nank Dev Ji
  15. There is also a wall painting with in one of the Vatican buildings (not sure if its in the sistine chapel) which says 'devine sikh guests' (i will post the photo shortly).

Theres supposed to be an engraving of some sort related to sikhi in the vatican gardens on a stone sculpture.

And there is also a wall painting of a rebab in a cupboard by raphael. Will also post this pic :)

I didn't see anything like that when I was there with Hubby but for sure next time I will take more time and look that more closely .
  16. puratan times, people would stop associating with excommunicated personal at every level

    no fateh

    no hi

    no bye

    no conversation

    no help

    no nothing

excommunication doesn't work much these days, people don't take it seriously.

these idiots must be fished out

The reason people don't take excommunication seriously is because of the nalaik masands in charge of our gurdwarey who drop excommunication on people's heads for political reasons.

the best thing to do is cut off these dokhi's air by removing media access and passing on the message of their untrustworthiness, I thought he said he was watching rampal on punjabi channel in mornings if so, we boycott those channels refuse to give dharmic business to them or anything else.
