Is it true that Guru Nanak Dev Ji said this- 'before becoming a muslim a sikh a hindu or a christian let's become a human first"

It's like I want this to be true causes it shows the equality and love we have

No it is NOT a quote from guru ji, its sum made up quote from a trouble makingpiece of s*** on the net, and fuddhu ppl have taken it is gospel..ridiculous!

The Westernised Sikhs are not like the Sikhs in Punjab, who of many (Non-Practising Majority) have piercings regardless of Caste. I've been to the Punjab, nearly every woman had an Ear Piercing or Nose Piercing. Except the Amritdharis, some who did have Holes in their Nose and Ears but no Piercings.

Veerji stop looking for arguments, I've been pretty transparent.

wat has any of this crap gotta do wit the convo? Try followin the convo u mug. Secondly the "western sikhs" r more religious than the sikhs of panjab. Sikhi in panjab is down n crap, u shud look around more.

I am not saying that they are permissible practises in Sikhism. I'm saying "Personally"

There is a great difference between cultural practises and religious practises. All Sikh sub-communities have high proportions of Non-Practising individuals who have no Qualms against Cutting Hair or Skin Piercing. These practises are things which are in essence cultural, some aspects carried from back home and others adopted from the Diasporic Nations. Nobody is perfect and certainly anyone who claims to be a Baptised Sikh should not go against what is set down in the Rehit Maryada. Your average Anglicized or Americanised Non-Practising Sikh isn't someone who will keep to all the commandments.

If you know that piercings and a haircut are against Sikhism, then instead of criticising others on an Online Forum, you may need to consider rectifying the mistakes you have made in your own life. I don't judge you on your Sikhi from a Forum, I don't think you should either.

I think they're harmless, because they don't harm your body: smoking Cannabis, drinking Alcohol and taking Drugs, are harmless, I don't know how you comprehend the word but it's certainly not how I envisage it.

I said I know why Sikhi discourages these illogical practises. Please don't try to get clever on a forum, I answered your question and didn't take to prejudice.

I don't have piercings and went through the Janeo Rite when I was very young, they're empty rituals and have no effect on Spirituality. There is nothing in the rite. Plus it happened in India where Hindus are keen to rub shoulders with Sikhs.

LOL judging u? R u off ur rocker? ive hardly judged u, wen u admitted urself! And the difference between me and u, is i know my mistakes and dont make excuses for them, where as u, say personally its "harmless". Now ur sayin drinking alcohol/dugs r harmless to you personally? Blud, do us all a favour....

They're the practise of wearing the Janeo Yajnopavita and Piercing the Nose and Ears of Teenage Girls.

-All castes came out of Hinduism, some stuck adamantly to the old ways. The Banjar Bhats are one of many other Sikh sub-communities.

:There is nothing "Disgusting" about this practise, girls in India and in the West get piercings during their Teens, not for religious reasons in the West, but because the girls are deemed old enough for piercings. A similar way in India, a piercing  was done to show that a girl was now a woman. I think we can agree piercings during Teens is pretty harmless.

:The Janeo is a different thing though, it's not a practise that coalesces with the teachings of Sikhi, but nonetheless it's harmless. I don't see any problem with it personally, I went through the Upanayana rite when I was young. But I see why Orthodox Sikhs discourage such Illogical Rites to exist alongside Rational Sikhi.

    thanks for the answer.

but i found it odd, how on a sikh site, u bravely state that pearcings r harmless at a certain age and regarding the 'janeo', u state "I don't see any problem with it personally". Right as sikhs u know full well we r not allowed to edit r body (cut hair/piercings/circumcision etc), and the janeo was rejected by guru nanak dev ji, which means its banned in sikhi, yet u fink this is ok and "harmless"? Mate av a word!

I also cut my hair/and have piercings, but i dont make excuses for it, i know full well its wrong.

Khalara actually researched his subject, I have always believed that the Akalis did him in.

That kutthaa badal and kps gill discussed how to eliminate khalra, and gill openly wrote in a newspaper that he will make him the next victim of hundreds of thousands of already killed sikhs, if he didnt stop "stickin his nose" in the genocidal campaigns. Which other country in the world wud allow this to happen in a newspaper openly?

Another reason we are not taken seriously, Akalis or any other pindu they come out and throw numbers like "ik lakh do lakh Sikh maar te" without giving anything to back the statement up. Even if you go by khalras numbers I don't think even close to 100k people were killed by Punjab police.

how do u know research wasnt done on this? U can clearly see the source written at the bottom of the picture, from a book, which i have recently purchased. Inderjeet singh did ground level research, not to mention he asked human rights orgs/courts, which is how he got the figures in 1st place. If this had been written by a gorah, wud u have questioned the figures? Stop denying the facts. We have had convos on this b4, go back to those threads n re-read wat i wrote on their, coz i cant b arsed to repeat everyfink all overagain.

The akali dal have been responsible for majority of sikh deaths since the 1970s, gal kattam!

I'm not sure, but I'll find out for you. I've tried to write on my own Bhat heritage the Shehri and Dharmi, I think these practises come from the Banjar offshoot. My great aunt might know though, I'll call her and let you know.

    kool, nice 1.

The sad thing is you will see a lot of Punjabi Hindus(on the internet) claiming that it was 30k to 39k Hindus who were killed by Sikhs since 1984 which is a blatant lie of course because they are just taking the figures of the Punjab Congress of Sikhs killed and saying "look! thats how many Hindus you guys killed".

Not surprising since telling the truth is not a virtue they are known for.

Wats funny is this whole "35,000" hindus were killed by sikhs is a new phenomenon, n wats amazing is, they have NO proof, bcoz it never happened. If the kharku's wanted to, they cud of murdered every single hindu in panjab, n made it into a sikh only state, but our lads r not of that ilk.

I agree Veerji. Casteism will eventually end in the next few generations, as our descendents learn that Caste is one of the most ridiculous concepts devised by our ancestors.

yo i noticed u didnt answer my question, so ill ask again, if u dont mind, can u tell us wat, Khul karan di rasam & Mourvi makaan mean?

    Sat Sri Akal

Last night i had a dream. Someone told me about a fort (killa) .Its was under water and belongs to guru gobind singh ji. i went in there with my friends. It was amazing like a kingdom. On the top there was a big hall with chairs. one chair was really big (king's throne) with a statue of guru gobind singh ji pointing a hand to a big bell (something like war bell).i saw and went their in rush to took a picture. but when i was about to take a picture, that statue's hand hit that bell. i was scared and apologize. Guru ji appeared for that statue and he said ohh! you are my follower and came here to meet me. i rushed outside because i forget to cover my head but Guru ji gave me a something to cover my head. after that many people came inside,

It was like a gurudwara but guru ji was sitting in it. people was coming in and praying. but i was sitting there like a kid and watching guru ji. Guru ji was listening to everyone. After a while he asked me. "putt why are you here" . i replied i am so lucky i came here. i said i have so much faith in you. He smiled at me.

I woke up. It feels like i really met guru ji. i was so amazing so i wanted to share with someone. I forgot alot of things after waking up.

if anyone know that this means. can share their opinion.

    Thank you waheguru.

Really silly question.....wat language did guru ji talk in?

The Muslims in Punjab are too small. Most are migrant Bhayas. The Punjabi ones are few. Just as long as they don't carry out Dawah activity targeting Sikhs, we should not worry too much. But I will tell you the one community which we should be worried about. The Christians! the Christian missionaries have literally converted Lakhs of Sikhs all over Punjab. While Hindus have managed to identity this problem and are carrying out their own counter missionary activity we Sikhs have completely ignored this. This is resulted in Christians seeing Sikhs as a soft target.

U say the christians, but a lot of the converted christians have returned to sikhi, and admitted it was due to money/school education for their kids. Also i dont want to bring caste/tribe into it, but its mostly the chamar/choora/untouchables who are targeted and converted by these christians, as this particular communities sadly get/have been bullied since day1 by other tribes. Hence a lot of them converted from "hinduism" to islam, christianity and sikhi in droves, only to find these communites dont treat em any better. Not sayin other communities aint being targeted, but its these tribes which make up 95%+ of the converted. Just shows u wat the pathetic sgpc r made of, who have billions of pounds at their disposal, yet cannot even muster up parcharaks to convert all of panjab into sikh only state, which sant jarnail wud have achieved effortlessly, had they remained till present day. Its ridiculous how panjab residing sikhs want jagraj singh (BoS) to start doing mass parchar in panjabi.....friggin !d!iots, wat language has sikhi been spread in last 500+years? How many parcharaks r already doin parchar in panjabi in panjab yet cant start a movement like sant ji did? Y cant the sgpc, who have billions compared to jagraj, not do that?

The horrors of 1984 pales into insignificance compared to 1947!

Do Sikhs realize the Moslems laid claim to Amritsar, imagine this Harmandir Sahib located in an Islamic Country!!!

    http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/The_Battle_for_Amritsar,_1947

They outnumbered us by 4 to 1 in amritsar....n yet still got their arse kicked. In places like jalandhar (modern day jalandhar/nawanshaher), the sullehh got slaughtered to the point, muslim deaths dwarfed sikh deaths if u add up all deaths during partition. Sons of b!tches got wat they deserved, n i hope shud any war kick off again, sh!t sena n other brahmins all get cleansed frm our panjab.

Oh please, how is that exactly praising muhammed? We r all gods beloved. In dasam granth it pretty much says wat muhammed was like.

Infact sant jarnail singh also did katha on this.

Most interracial marriages in the uk occur between Sikh and non Sikh.  Sikhs are not a really a group that cross different races like islam.

    Bullsh!t.

Where exactly in the uk do u live? I bet u live in w.london, if so....well u live in a sikh majority area, hence thats all ur ever gona see, n jus to let u kno, it doesnt represent the rest of sikhs in uk.

Other communities r goin thru same fing as us, we just make more noise about it, coz we care. Just like the grooming fiasco! Hindu girls have been groomed since day1, but theyre a coward community who wont say anyfink, theyre pure coconuts! We make a fuss of the grooming coz we care about r dharam/kaum.

Hindus (gujaratis especially), BY FAR marry out of their community, if ur talkin bowt the asian communities, no question!

Also there r plenty of non-panjabi sikhs in uk. Ive seen plenty of goreh sikhs, ironically, in w.london areas.

I frankly cant wait for the sikh population to b majority non panjabi/asian (96crore khalsa).
