    Dear Sir/Madam

I'm a researcher at BBC Birmingham and we're making a new health series for BBC Two called "Don't Die Young". The programmes will be presented by Dr Alice Roberts; a lecturer in anatomy at the University of Bristol and regular presenter on the BBC 2 series "Coast".

Each of the six episodes will focus on a different organ of the body; with episode three focusing on the kidneys. A common theme to all the programmes is that we hope to take a member of the public whose lifestyle puts them at high risk of developing organ damage and to then give them guidance on how best to avoid this.

The biggest cause of kidney disease in the UK is diabetes and a member of the South Asian population is four to five times more likely to develop the condition than a European. 25% of all Indo-Asian adults in the UK suffer type II diabetes.

We're looking for an individual at high risk of developing diabetes who would be really keen to lower this risk; the more engaging the personality the better. The risk factors for developing type II diabetes for a member of the Asian community are:

    o being overweight

o having a close relative who is diabetic

    o being over 25

    o smoking

The filming will take roughly 4-5 days and all expenses will be covered. The experience should prove very positive for the individual involved and will hopefully help them maintain good health. The individual doesn't have to tick all of the above boxes but should tick a few (being overweight and smoking are the most important).

Any assistance would be much appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you and any of your members soon. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

    Best wishes

    Tom Ranson

    I have woven my hair into lovely braids, and saturated their partings with vermillion;

but when I go before Him, I am not accepted, and I die, suffering in anguish.

Leaving aside the simple way of Gursikhi God-Oriented Gurmukh ladies, is to have trss-knot at the top of the head covered with turban, as per the khalsa dress code. Those who delve in fashionable hair-dos and make-up are paving their way to hell. The above Gurbani makes it clear, delving in fashion leads not to true love, but only to wailing and grief in the Court-Divine. Should these sikh ladies have fear of awaiting Justice-Divine, so well explained repeatedly through the Wisdom of the Guru, they would not dare to delve in falsehood of fashion and spoil their life in the hereafter.

Bhai Jarnail Singh a Uk GUrsikh, who was asked to address the Sangat in Bristol. This must have been the first time the local Sangat, who were mostly monae, saw so many women as well as men adorning Keski).

He spontaneously decided to use this opportunity to describe Keski in the following manner (i have paraphrased him here):

(he stood up and began talking) 'We meet VahiGuru via our Dasam Duaar. Our Dasam Duaar is located on top of our head. We do all different types of Seva to please Vahiguru, yet we must remember to do the Seva of adorning our Dasam Duaar because it is here where we meet Vahiguru. Keski is the seva of Dasam Duaar'. (he finished talking and sat down)

  5. I usually wash my hair at night and leave it open when I sleep. Is this wrong? grin.gif

  12. According to Panthic maryada, there are 3 in the morning. Some people like to trash talk and say that oh these guys don't want to read bani so they are cutting down the banis. This is not true at all, Nitneim banis are there so we have unity and so that when we get together, we have a maryada which we follow on personal level and Panthic level. No one is saying don't read Bani. This is maryada. Once you are done reading the 3 morning banis, spend time reading other banis. Spend time learning and understanding Gurbani.

    160726[/snapback]

yeh totally agreed there. Why argue about 3 or 5 do as much as you ca why stop at 5? There is no argument to be had here. With Guroo Sahibs Kirpa add more bani to you nitnem
