1. Yes Ram Rai was the elder son of Guroo Har Rai Sahib Jee and Yes he was excommunicated/disowned//Tankhaya, what ever you want to call it but the key point is Guroo Sahib said he wanted nothing to do with him and nor would guroo sahibs sikh. No offence but the story makes no sense.

Why would Guroo Gobind Singh Jee, Parkash Jot of Guroo Nanak Sahib Jee, the same jot of Guroo Har Rai who earlyer Disowned Ram Rai, would come to the rescue of Ram Rai? Maybe what happened was meant to be the punishment for doing paap.

After Ram Rai had resided in Delhi for some time, he decided to go to Kiratpur and try to convince his father to reverse his decision regarding him. He pitched his camp near Kiratpur and wrote to his father for permission to visit him. He confessed that he had suffered for his sins and desired forgiveness. The Guru replied,"Ram Rai, you have disobeyed my order and sinned. How can you aspire to become a holy man? Go whither your fancy leads you. I will never see you again on account of your infidelity?"

    allaboutsikhs.com

Did Ram Rai go to Guroo Sahib and ask for forgiveness?

If not I don’t see the purpose of writing about people in history who the Guroo Sahib or Panth have declared to be Excommunicated.

    Maybe I am missing something?

  2. benti please make it clear where you are writing some the above its hard to figure whos saying what. thanks

5). None of our dancers had their heads uncovered. They all wore Turbans and some of our members are Gursikh themselves.

err look at the photos in the article!

(gurpreet) Err..you look at the photos Singh!! none of the Bhangra Dancers (they are the ones in colourful uniforms if you haven't noticed) have their heads uncovered.

There shouldn’t be Bhangra dancers End of story. Nagar KIRTAN, how can you be singing guroo sahibs bani. Dhurki Bani that has be give to us which is the only truth and then be playing the dhol and singing songs??

6). In India for many years and in Southall, Bhangra dancers have been part of the nagar kirtan with most people in the Sikh Sangat having no issue. There is a small minority intent on causing friction.

With regards to 6. Which minority are you talking about? The “sikh” Sangats with no issue are usually the ones who wont speak up. I think it’s the bhangra guys who should no more. When the gursikhs had words why did guys start doing it again in a while become khalsa before you say raj karega!

Silence has to be broken by some one. Bhai Fauja singh Jee didn’t stay quite even if others did.

7). I agree there was some bad behaviour from people in the Sangat but please be accurate before you make allegations against our Bhangra group which has been serving the community well for over 30 years.

I am glad you agree about the bad behaviour of all bhangera dancers. I can see how you can have peopel doing bhangra and then have gursikhs doing keertan behind them.

(gurpreet) Thats not what I said so please learn English properly. The Punjab Dancers Bhangra Group of Southall was given permission by commitee leaders to perform our cultural dance and display the heritage of the Sikh/Punjabi people.

Can you have bhangra at gurdwara? Would great singhs like Shaheed Bhai Fauja singh let you do bhangra in gurdwara? They how can you justify it at nagar KIRTAN?

7). Do not loose your identity - Culturally and Religiously.

You need to learn when culture ends and Sikhi begins. Culture is the thing that spreading filth in Sikh community and centre of alot off problems. Certain asspects of culture such as Caste are in direct conflict with Sikhi yet we refuse to let go, hence we are loosing our youth from Sikhi

(gurpreet) I am very disappointed that you are ashamed of your culture. I agree with you that we need to learn when culture ends and Sikhi begins but you must also not forget our culture. I totally disagree that it spreads filth. Actually our Bhangra classes help keep our youth of the streets of Southall any away from bad things. Caste has not even come into this conversation so leave it out. Bhangra has got nothing to do with Caste. I agree with you that we are loosing our youth from Sikhi - but that is because of the extremism that we are seeing these days which is turning people away

Here we go again. Any one who has submitted to will of guroo and taken amrit is extreme but everyone else is fine. Why is it that all these dholl and bhangra classes attract “singhs” to shave of there dhara? I know a singh who started going and he shaved his dhara of. Its about sangat,,, sangat rubbs off. Go to rainsbai youll get gursikhi sangat go to gig u get manmat. Simple as.  Doing loud Satnam Vahiguroo Jaap as guys where doing some times would be so much more better and effective imagine the impression you give to your younger brothers and sisters.

    vahiguroo anng sang

  3. First of all I am socked of some of the lies by the editors. I am a member of the Bhangra Group that you guys photographed but I want to set the record straight on some issues:-

1). There was no singing of Bolyian by us that had any reference to alcohol or women. We are not as stupid as some of you may think.

I was told by singhs there was and they complained to a sevadars.

2). Full permission was granted from Himmat Singh Sohi for our dancers to be part of the nagar kirtan - Next year we will be applying for a Truck Permit. He is the elected president of the gurdwara who the Sikh Sangat have elected themselves - Why don't you ask to see what he has to say.

    vahiguroo

3). The birth of the sikh religion was created on this vaisakhi day in a mela where there were celebrations.

Wrong bhai Khanday di paul and Khalsa was given form on Vaisakhi day.

4). Bhangra is part of Punjabi culture and only the Punjabi Culture.

Nagar Keertan is about Keertan, Gurmat and Sikhi NOT Panjabi Bhangra keep that at home. Would you do bhangra in a gurdwara?

5). None of our dancers had their heads uncovered. They all wore Turbans and some of our members are Gursikh themselves.

err look at the photos in the article!

6). In India for many years and in Southall, Bhangra dancers have been part of the nagar kirtan with most people in the Sikh Sangat having no issue. There is a small minority intent on causing friction.

how many Sikhs are there in the world? no really how many are actually sikhs? hmmm I thought so?

You could look at doing work in panjab with FATEH. http://www.fatehworld.org its a wiked way of getting to experience Panjab and doing seva. Singh was telling me about one of the projects where you go for a number of months to do seva and you are taught gatka, kirtan, and lots more sounds so cool, all I need now is time lol.

  5. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Balwinder Kaur Ji, the hymn composed by Bhagat Sadhna in this sakhi is not in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj.  Only the hymn which he composed when he was being bricked alive is in ang 858 of Guru Sahib.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

    157719

Can you please give refrence from where you found out Bhagat Sadhna composed this shabad while he was being bricked alive.

  6. This isnt a national UK Yudh!

all 8 akharas as you keep mentioning are from up north and or midlands.. if im not mistaken.. http://www.khalsapanth.co.uk/Venues&Classes.htm

    bhull chuk maff

    156587

how do u mean? id say its national, as the aharreh are from different parts of the country, yes mainly north and midlands, but its not just khalsa panth gatka akharreh that take part.

Baba Fateh Singh Akharra, London have taken part in the past many times. A few years back we had akharreh come down from cananda and usa to take part!

Guru ji has so an immense beat kirpa on this akharra, originally starting off with 1 akharra 3 years ago has now exploded into 9 gatka akharreh, and im sure in the future, with the help of gursikhs the south, east and west side of uk will be targeted to setup more gatka akharreh, its all up to guru ji!

    156656

Bhai sahib with respect as you have said in the PAST Akharas from all over UK including London have taken part. Lets look at the present I am saying THIS yudh 2006 was not national as it only had Akharas from midlands/up north.

  9. Dont belive in god.....

Guroo sahib says experince god. meditate and experience god for your self not live on borrowed hope, etc

Sikhi is a way of life. Now for copy and past of my bro

    FOUR TYPES OF SIKHS

There are four types of Sikhs. To illustrate this point, let's use the example of a fire.

1/ The first type of person knows through his or her FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCE that by putting one's hand in the fire, it will burn. So they experience the heat of the fire and learnt that it would do them harm. This is like the first type of Sikh - one whose Sikhi is based on EXPERIENCE of the Guru (Gurbani) and Simran.

2/ The second type of person knows that fire will burn their hand, because of another's experience. Therefore, person 2 BELIEVES in person 1, and on the basis of this BELIEF he or she keeps away from fire. This is like the second type of Sikh - one whose Sikhi is based on BELIEF in what they have been told about Guru Sahib and Sikhi.

3/ The third type of person does knows fire is dangerous and not to touch it because person 2 told them that person 1 had experienced the fire. Therefore, person 3 has BLIND FAITH in person 2, and basis his BELIEF on someone else's belief. This is like the third type of Sikh - one whose Sikhi is based on BLIND-FAITH and they plod along and follow Sikhi because so and so told so and so, and this got passed down.

4/ The fourth type of person does not go near fire, not knowing why and thinks its a tradition of the ancestors not to touch fire. Therefore, person 4 follows BLIND-RITUALISM. Not going near fire becomes a RITUAL with no meaning or understand. This is like the fourth type of Sikh - one whose Sikhi is based on BLIND-RITUALISM and they do things, e.g. Matha Tekh, read Paath, or go the Gurdwara NOT KNOWING "WHY" and carry out these acts because their ancestors and previous generations did this.

In each and every heart, the Lord, the Lord of the forest, is permeating and pervading. In the water, on the land, and in the sky, He is pervading but hidden; through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, He is revealed

    SORAT’H, FIRST MEHL:

You, God, are the Giver of gifts, the Lord of perfect understanding; I am a mere beggar at Your Door. What should I beg for? Nothing remains permanent; O Lord, please, bless me with Your Beloved Name. || 1 || In each and every heart, the Lord, the Lord of the forest, is permeating and pervading. In the water, on the land, and in the sky, He is pervading but hidden; through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, He is revealed. || Pause || In this world, in the nether regions of the underworld, and in the Akaashic Ethers, the Guru, the True Guru, has shown me the Lord; He has showered me with His Mercy. He is the unborn Lord God; He is, and shall ever be. Deep within your heart, behold Him, the Destroyer of ego. || 2 || This wretched world is caught in birth and death; in the love of duality, it has forgotten devotional worship of the Lord. Meeting the True Guru, the Guru’s Teachings are obtained; the faithless cynic loses the game of life. || 3 || Breaking my bonds, the True Guru has set me free, and I shall not be cast into the womb of reincarnation again. O Nanak, the jewel of spiritual wisdom shines forth, and the Lord, the Formless Lord, dwells within my mind. || 4 || 8 ||

    Experience god...

  10. And God said No

I asked God to take away my pride,

    And God said "No."

He said, "It's not for Me to take away,

But for you to give up."

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole,

    And God said "No."

He said, "Her spirit is whole,

    Her body is only temporary."

I asked God to grant me patience,

    And God said "No."

He said, "Patience is a byproduct of tribulation,

    It isn't granted, it's earned."

I asked God to give me happiness,

    And God said "No."

He said, "I give you blessings,

    Happiness is up to you."

I asked God to spare me pain,

    And God said "No."

He said, "Pain tells Me what to heal,

And brings you closer to Me."

I asked God to make my spirit grow,

    And God said "No."

He said, "You must learn how to grow,

And I will prune you to make you fruitful when you ask."

I asked God to help me love others,

As much as He loves me,

    "Ah finally,

    You have the idea."

  11. Yes penjee I know that but thats what people are going around saying.

One thing I dont understand is about paradise, as a Sikh it confuses me. As a sikh i belive god is atainable on this earth. once you are one with god all your wishes are forfilled once you have reached and achieved your objective.

Why then do you need palaces, women, etc. When you have the sweet taste of the all mighty surely nothing else can compare.

  12. Sri GUroo Granth Sahib Jee is the only word straight from Akal Purkh Vahiguroo. Guroo Nanak Sahib jee brang mool mantar the first akhar in Guroo Granth Sahib Jee is word of god. NO other religion has that. They can say what they want but history proves all other texts have been written decades/centuries after.

Guroo Granth Sahib jee is the only word of god. Other religions claim to have the word of god yet they contain erotica, violence, pain, discrimination, etc (the list goes on).

They make false claims about cloud 9 what not. Guroo Sahib says dont belive in god expereince god here.

the Quran has been edited over and over again. take a UV light to the various old versions and you will see they have been writtern over!! even muslim lecturers in top leading London Univeristies will admit to this.

they debate because they belive converting one person will tke there family to cloud 9 direct flight non stop. WOW thats so good you dont actually got to do anything just go and preach lies and hate.

there faith of so called tollerance. Please ask them what happens if someone converts toislam and decides its not for them? they will get stonned to death! thats tollerance. I think NOT!
