  1. do sukhmani sahib

    145656[/snapback]

    Definitely

If you cant you should listen to it. You need to take time out for your self. We don’t do this. At amritvela do ishnaan then simran. Put on a CD anything.

Ohhh and rehraas dim light do rehraas and simran.

Also before sleeping make sure you do kirtan sohila and if you can sing a shabad. (you don’t need a vaaja that’s the purpose of the voice)

Theres a Sukhmani Sahib audio on link below to download. its liks a bhai sahib and bibi take turn to lead with sangat saying the second line. if you get what I mean. download it you will understand LOL.

click here and then on Sukhmani Sahib to download

  2. hellow found this for your refrence:

    http://panthkhalsa.org/rahit/rahit_kakkar.php

The following points are clear from the above references :

Not only Kes (unshorn hair) are part of the external Khalsa Rahit, but also Keski (the Turban to cover the hair)

Keski is required by ALL SIKHS, regardless of sex. (See Rahit-Namah, Bhai Daya Singh Ji, above. Note: Bhai Daya Singh was one of the initial 5 Piyarays on Vaisakhi 1699.)

There is no separate Rahit for women, they are required to follow the Guru's Hukam in the same manner men are required to, and wear a Keski (Dastaar.) Sadly, for the last 60 odd years, "modern Sikh" females have rejected this very symbol of GurSikhi, and have thus gone against the Hukams of our Gurus. With the upsurge of Gurmat Parchaar, especially in the western countries, it is inspiring to see many daughters of Guru Gobind Singh wearing Dastaars as required by the Khalsa Rahit.

  4. Ok that post just confused me. Personally I would say it’s not good to hold back tears although at same time one need to refer to guroo mahraj.

"?" Jee (weird calling a ? jee, but anyhow), What you have stated makes no sense to me. Anyone who believes in that should refer it to gurbani and present it.

As far as I am concerned it has no relvence with Sikhi and Gurbani. Tears are natural for manmukhs such as me who become entangled in maya and attachment of loved family ones therefore it is natural to cry. Cry doesn’t and wouldn’t have an effect on anyone else. We come in to this world ad leave alone we will not take anything except the deeps and kamai if any we have erned.

We take with us only the action deeds we commit and the tapasya we do, (meditation, pat, etc) for Akal purkh to meet the purpose of our like. We will each be judged individually on our actions in the court of God. Your cry will not affect the loved one you have lost.

Loosing a loved one I would says get together with family do paath, mool mantar and simran. Put on a calming simran CD or something and dim light what ever helps you. Does ardaas guroo sahib will help you to get through this difficult period.

  5. hmmm some times people are put in an impossible situation they just cant see any way out of but want to be out of it as its driving them crazy. They then do things that they realise latter will have far bigger repercussions. They apologies but don’t know what else to do they can’t turn back the clock. At the time they do what they think is right. It’s hard for them to especially when they are sincerely sorry. We all make mistakes but the person who let you down will no doubt feel really bad if they truly care.

Its a catch 22 situation you cant forgive them yet deep down you probably believe they made a genuine mistake. All one can do is turn to guroo. Tell them to do same. Do simran and dont give up amrit vela just do ardaas and listen to keertan. Being in sangat is massive boost go to next rainsbhai you can.

  6. you didnt do anything wrong. try and get them to sit down and talk. One should listen to there parents. Your brother is in wrong even if your mother hit him. You shouldnt hit back to your parents sometimes we need a slap. I dont knoww the situation but shes probablly really hurt that he hit her back, so much so that you guys prob dont realise how hurt. Talk to your mum alone make sure shes ok.

Your brother needs to talk and they need to appologies well brother does at least. One person can change the whole house hold. One idea get them together and do rehraas together and moolmantar and then simran.

Start doing simran and jaap, at amritvela if its not being done. Bani has an effect on all. Try not to worry. Just be there for one and other and rember guroo the bad times will pass.

    Amrit Vela

Some usefull threads on Amrit Vela:

Amrit Vela is very important for a Sikh. It is prime time to mediate and become one with Vahiguroo. We must do simran. We find it hard to get up at Amrit Vela, the following are some personal tips one can try.

    Alarm Clock:

I often find my self turning the alarm of first thing. So you set up one clock near you to go of 10 minutes earlyer. Set up another alarm clock away from your bed so you have to get up to turn it of. If you have a mobile one idea is to get it on that with a loud keertan as the alarm.

    Keertan:

Some people find it good to have a CD player nearby so they can press play and have keertan playing which may help you in waking up.

    Ardaas:

Night before get to sleep early. Most important is before you sleep after Kirtan Sohila do an ardaas asking for blessing of Guroo Sahib to help you get up at Amrit Vela. I found this to be one of the most important factors whithout which I would never have felt the russ of amrit vela.

    Keshi Ishnaan:

Wash your kesh in water only. Tie your keski around your waist placing kangha in it. You dont need to drench them. The water must be cold and then directed to the skull rubbing water in. Your kesh will become damp, this helps you to wake up and become more alert. Use a micro fibber towel, these are said to soak in the water as they are very fine, these are available from sports shops.

Try and have your ishnaan with cold water. It can be hard but it helps to wake up your senses and gets your body doing naam simran naturally.

These are some tips which I hope help. I found the following on www.SikhiUnleashed.com I hope it is of use. There are numerous quotes in gurbani to amrit vela. It is all about kirpa do ardaas from your heart and Guroo Sahib does kirpa.

    Waking Up For Amrit Vela

By G. Udham Singh in Gurmat Sidhaant Saagar

    Translated by Admin www.tapoban.org

    1. That Sikh who remembers Vahiguru at Amrit Vela will achieve liberation.

    2. Ishnan, nitnem and simran/abhyaas at amrit vela can transform the individual

    3. Only that person can wake up for amrit vela who forsakes laziness and remembers death.

    4. It is just as essential for every Gursikh to wake up in the last quarter of the night, amrit vela, as it is to do simran.

    5. That person that remains asleep at amrit vela goes without the blessings and grace of Vahiguru

    6. The best way of waking up for amrit vela is to eat little at night and to go to sleep on time.

    7. It is at amrit vela that currents of Vahiguru's blessings are flowing but those who remain asleep at this time cannot enjoy them

    8. Until the stars disappear, it is the fourth quarter of the night, amrit vela,

which is considered the most conducive time to meditate and worship Vahiguru.

    9. That person that longs to wake up at amrit vela will be woken up on

    time by some secret power.

    10. After doing Sohila Sahib, and before going to sleep, doing ardaas for the ability to wake up at amrit vela is very beneficial.

    11. That Gursikh who is thirsting for naam and baaNee will find that this thirst will be like the alarm which wakes him/her up.

    12. Even cows, birds and roosters wake up at amrit vela. If a Sikh does not, it is his own bad karma.

    13. It is a natural phenomenon that at amrit vela, even flowers blossom and spread their scent more than at any other time.

    14. That person who wants to meditate on Vahiguru must make it a daily habit to wake up at amrit vela.

    15. It is not enough to just wake up at amrit vela, ishnaan and simran are also essential.

    16. Those individuals who spend their nights lost in vices and evil and then sleep through amrit vela are destroying their own lives.

    17. The way in which our minds can be attached to simran and baaNee at amrit vela is not possible at any other time.

    18. All great saints, rishis, munis, bhagats and Gursikhs all have woken up at amrit vela.

    19. That person's life is fruitful and worthwhile who wakes up every day at amrit vela and remembers Vahiguru.

  12. The following shabad is in Raag Jaijawantee

    Raag Jaijawantee: -

An expression of feelings of satisfaction of achieving a goal, and great happiness, but at the same time it can also convey the sense of sadness of losing. An anecdote which can be used to explain this is like that of a King winning a battle, however he is then told her has lost his son on the battlefield. This particular Raag set across the feeling of putting your duty first, no mater what you inner feelings maybe like that of a saint soldier riding into battle to protect the downtrodden even if the oppressor who he shall fight was once a friend. The balance of joy and sorrow put across will keep a balance and help put in prospective ones own life achievements.
