  1. Waaheguroojeekaakhalsaa!!!! Waaheguroojeekeefatheh!!!! http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.ppa?f=1...1&i=4628&t=4628
  2. WaahegurooJeeKaaKhalsaaWaahegurooJeeKeeFathe!!!! Pyario, I think its great that you are staying healthy by working out. There are a few things that are bothering me which i wish to mention. Firstly, I used to take in many many supplements when I used to work out, aiming to increase muscle density and size and keeping body fat levels below the minimum...That was before being blessed with Guru Sahib's Amrit. After taking different supplements under and over the counter my health started to suffer and because my metabolic rate was so high from taking supplements, once i stopped basically everything stopped, and I put on a lot of bad weight because my metabolic rate came to a stand still. Also your these supplements take a toll on your liver and heart with problems such as palpitations and cardiac arrhythmia. As effective as those supplements may seem, they are filled with dangerous substances that haven't been tested for their long term effects, (many products are being pulled off of shelves as the effects are showing up in users) and might I add most of which are animal products. If you understand that a gursikh does not require anything other than their plain and simple diet to stay healthy then I recommend you keep it as such. Personally speaking, I still work out and find that piniaan, nuts and lentils give me all the protein I need. Those supplements you speak of just speed up the process, be patient and you will get the same results by keeping a good diet and working out with a well planned routine, maybe not as fast but you will. I personally see supplements as a cheap and unhealthy way to getting results. Just a personal t hought, bodybuilding is good for sport I guess, but I mean don't get too caught up in it, stay healthy be an athlete, but think practically getting too big will cause damage in the long run..many bodybuilders die of heart attacks because when you are no longer able to maintain your muscle mass, it's just extra tissue which will be diagnosed as obesity. Also relating this issue to sikhi, again from personal experience, bodybuilding leads to a well shaped and lean body which will then make you want to show it off by wearing tight or revealing attire...HANKAAR. its so difficult to save yourself from it but, it can be prevented. ibriD BieAw qnu CIjY dyhI ] The body grows old, and is beaten out of shape. rwmu n jpeI AMiq snyhI ] But he does not meditate on the Lord, His only friend, even at the end. nwmu ivswir clY muih kwlY drgh JUTu KuAwrw hy ]11] Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he departs with his face blackened. The false are humiliated in the Court of the Lord. ||11|| The best thing you can do for your mind and body is remember Satguru. If you think that with out supplements you will not have energy to work out as you would by taking in supplements, then you're very wrong. The best energy comes with a strong amritvela a lot of naam abhyaas and banee..no one can beat the strength of any soora that has these as their supplements. That was just my manmat, forgive me, paaraskaur
  3. WaahegurooJeeKaaKhalsaaWaahegurooJeeKeeFathe!!!! I just wanted to mention that the raensabhaiee keertan at El Sobrante Gurdwara Sahib was pure anand, amazing chardee kalaa sevaadaars in California, Guru Sahib kirpa karee rakhan.
  4. WaahegurooJeeKaaKhalsaaWaahegurooJeeKeeFathe!!!!!! I thought I would add to this thread by mentioning that i've heard in katha on more than one occasion that Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee was described to sujaa a dumalaa five hand's high - in desi calculations that's known as panj gitth, with many many shastaars sujaa'd on their dumalla... Being a generation brought up with many pictorial depictions, it is very hard for us to imagine this roop of Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee. No artist can capture the beauty of our Guru Sahib's..their depictions don't even come close..as beautiful as the 'art' may seem. Personally, I dont think there is anything wrong in wanting to know what our Guru Sahib's looked like in their physical form, like the above premee's have indicated. I would much rather look at their libhaas and model my own from it than anyone else's. Please forgive me for my many mistakes. paaras kaur

  6. WaahegurooJeeKaaKhalsaaWaahegurooJeeKeeFathe!!!! Abbotsford is approximately a 35-40 minute drive from the heart of Surrey. On Sundays there is a divaan held at Bala Pritam Darbar Gurdwara Sahib in Abbotsford from 10am-1pm I believe and it is a half hour of keertan done by bhujangee's followed by English veechars from the Gurmukh pyaray who do Gurmat veechars at Dasmesh Darbar Gurdwara Sahib (Surrey - Sunday Nite Live youth program) on Sunday evenings (7-8pm). Bala Pritam Darbar is nestled in between rolling hills and a very quiet farm area, unbelievably breath taking environment..it is an old church/school that was bought by the Maharaja Daleep Singh Gurmat Centre sevaadaars years ago and is functioning as a divaan for the youth..all programs there are run by the youth...not many know of its location, if you are interested in attending the divaan please let me know I will email you directions (paaraskaur@yahoo.com). Pyario, if you will be here this week, please do check out the youth program taking place this Friday at Gurdwara Sukh Sagar (in New Westminster - approx. 10 minutes from Surrey). There will be keertan done by the youth and English veechars done by the Gurmukh pyaray from the Sunday Nite Live Youth Program this program will be taking place between 6-9pm August 1st. Just to sum up: *EVERY* Sunday Morning: where: Bala Pritam Darbar Gurdwara Sahib, Abbotsford BC when: between 10am-1pm what: keertan by youth, gurmat veechars in english by gurmukh pyaray from gurmat centre, abbotsford. *EVERY* Sunday Evening: where: Dasmesh Darbar Gurdwara Sahib, Surrey BC when: between 7 -8pm what: gurmat veechars in english by gurmukh pyaray from gurmat centre, abbotsford. *THIS* Friday Evening: where: Sukh Saagar Gurdwara Sahib, New Westminster BC when: between 6-9pm what: keertan by youth, gurmat veechars in english by gurmukh pyaray from abbotsford. 8. WaaheguroooJeeKaaKhalsaaWaaaheguroooJeeKeeFatheh!!!!!! Piaray "GurbarAkal" Jee I believe most of what you had posted has been clarified by piaray "singh 5" jee, however you mentioned, "3. Tapoban singhs believe that wen you do naam simran you should only shake your head in up/down manner. AKJ singhs don't care how you shake your head in simran." Please read the following thread to clarify this point: http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.ppa?f=1...1&i=2158&t=2158 (insightful posts by Original Giani (OG), and Kulbir Singh jee) The gurmukh's at Gurdwara Tapoban Sahib are amazing, let's do ardaas that we too can follow the pukkee gurmat rehit that the sangataan there follow. bhul chuk maaf karnee, paaras kaur
  9. WaahegurooJeeKaaKhalsaaWaahegurooJeeKeeFathe!!!!!!!!! Pyario, Amrit isn't a game! Put it into perspective by imagining yourself in sangat in 1699, Kalgidhar Pitajee comes out with much fury holding an unsheathed Sri Sahib, asks for a head...one by one five pyaray arose and walked forward, seeing their fate was all in Guru Sahib's hands..full faith pyario! not just half-half faith in their father...they had full faith, in that whatever Guru Sahib so wished...they believed their heads were already Guru Sahib's, but to physically give Guru Sahib their head was indeed an honor for them. They had their heads physically removed pyario... Now think about this, if you believe your head is that of Akaal Purakh's, then how can you walk into Amrit Sanchaar and tell Guru Sahib yes this head is yours..but 'dont remove it'. By that what I mean to say is that by going with utmost humility and asking for Amrit with your head in your hands..there's no turning back and "giving up Amrit" its in you! how can you remove it from your mind and body!!! Accept it, and do ardaas for guidance, go to the Panj Pyaray for guidance...don't give up, turn around and run the other way..remember: crn srin gur eyk pYfw jwie cl charan saran gur eaek paiddaa jaae chala siq gur koit pYfw Awgy hoie lyq hY ] sath gur kott paiddaa aagae hoe laeth hai ||< br> (in short, inch towards your Guru and your Guru will take a million steps towards you) Parents always want their children to be given Amrit, and at times too early..when the child has no samajh of what a beautiful thing it is. Choola of Amrit should be given to child at birth (janam sanskaar, see rehit maryada) and thus the child should be brought up in a rehit-pukkee family and decide to 'take Amrit' on their own. Its not anyone's fault that some children are given Amrit at too young and tender an age (its all pre-ordained)...sometimes that age is perfect, and at others its (as we've heard) not so perfect. I think there are many differing opinions about this, but in my personal opinion I think that parents should save themselves and their children from the following: sqgur qy jo muh Pyrih mQy iqn kwly ] sathagur thae jo muh faerehi mathhae thin kaalae || Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru shall have their faces blackened. Anidnu duK kmwvdy inq johy jm jwly ] anadhin dhukh kamaavadhae nith johae jam jaalae || Night and day, they suffer in pain; they see the noose of Death always hovering above them. I know I have mentioned a lot of manmat, please ignore it, take any Gurmat you see and accept it. Bhul chuk maaf karnee, paaras kaur
  10. WaahegurooJeeKaaKhalsaaWaahegurooJeeKeeFatheh!!!! Pyario, If the reasoning behind this is that kids will become more interested in sikhi..I think its pointless. If you want to make your kids interested in sikhi, take them to gurdwara, tell them sakhi's etc etc..teach them what seva is and show them by taking them to gurdwara sahib and the various types of sevaavaahn that can be done. Its a very lenient way of thinking to say anyone can prepare food and take it to gurdwara sahib and put it together...GURU KAA LANGAR should be made by GURU KAY SIKH's/KHALSAY..if someone has not taken Amrit and is not following the path laid out every so carefully by Guru Sahib...then how can that person prepare GURU KAA LANGAR? Its too easy to say that 'does that mean non-sikhs cant do seva????' This does not mean this at all pyario! There are countless sevaavaahn that can be done and need to be done everyday...do one of those! Just because you can't do langar seva doesnt mean you cant do seva period!!!! Johriaan dee seva, cleaning seva, bartanaan dee seva...remember seva is tunoh munoh dhunoh...soo many different forms of seva khalsa ji! So please do consider what I have mentioned.. Guru Kaa Langar is special in that in the hazaaree of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaj...those that have given their heads to Akaal Purakh and abide by His teachings..prepare the meal with utmost suchum and while reciting Gurbanee from the heart..so that Banee can reach sangataahn through langar.. Just as Karah Prashad is prepared in a special way so is Guru Kaa Langar..Anything distributed to sangataahn needs to be done so carefully. Beant Galtiaa maaf karniaan jee, paaras kaur
