  1. Sikhs are the most blasphemous to their own faith, by way of comparison to adherents of other faiths? That is a very absurd and contrived point.

I think everyone can agree that the Sikh community is rife with hypocrisy and that it is imperative that we get our act together. But to say that we are more hypocritical than Christians for instance, who if they actually paid any attention to what their Bible says, would know that they are forbidden to eat shellfish, forbidden to cut their hair, forbidden from eating pork or any other animal with three toes or from wearing garments made from mixed fabrics (to take but a few).

Not to say that Christians are more hypocritical than Sikhs either.

Its no good saying this group or that group is more hypocritical than another. We are all human, and humans are hypocrites by nature. We are all hypocrites of one strain or another, irrespective of religious affiliation. No religious group has a demonstrably higher or lower proportion of hypocrites than another.

  2. There was over zealous editing of Sikhi scriptures and removal of certain passages etc by "hinduphpbic" members of the Community after the anglo Sikh wars. I will find some examples.

A number of fanatics like Teja Bhasaur wanted to purge a good many sections from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, yes, but that misses the point of the OP's question. He suspected that there was a conspiracy to alter Gurbani which managed to spread its tendrils throughout the entire Sikh world and which was perpetrated by some great power, not the ramblings of a lone fruitcake like Teja Bhasaur and his paltry following. These anti-Hindu fanatics were for the most part ignored by Sikhs.

Puraatan Birs and Saroops still survive in great number at certain old Guru Ghars, Takhats and Nihang Dals. They are overwhelmingly similar to the Saroops in Gurdware today.

  3. "militant sikhs" its calling oneself "sportsperson" without competing in any sporting event, so what militant thing have canadian sikhs done have they fought any armed struggle? if doing zindabad murdabad is your definition of militancy then god save you

The word 'militant' has become something of a colloquialism in the speech of Western Sikhs, a sort of slang term. It describes a Sikh who is particularly strident about their Sikhi. A metaphor in other words.

  4. You're being paranoid.

The only motivation the British or the Mahants could have had for wanting to add or to abrogate passages from Gurbani, would have been to further their own interests. You've read Gurbani. Have you ever read anything which looks like it would have furthered the interests of Mahants or the British? Any passages about how wonderful obeisance to your conquerors or imperialism is, or how mahants are the bee's knees? No, to the contrary, you'll find an abundance of verses which actively decry the logic behind imperialism and mahant demagogy.

In other words if changes had been made they would have been made in such a way as to benefit the individuals who made the changes.

Besides, the sheer logistics of finding every Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji in existence and changing them, one and all, would have rendered such a project inconceivable.

  5. Except Canada, can any of you even imagine apne moneh taking pride in beating up and assaulting the dastar of a Singh in the UK, Italy, Australian or New Zealand diaspora ? It is unthinkable.

The Canadian Sikhs are a very peculiar and fascinating study . On the one hand they can be the most militant and hardline of all the Sikhs in the diaspora, and in my experience are usually the most pro-Khalistani. And yet on the other hand they can barely be gravitised to attend an anti-India demonstration, and the violence of their internal squabbles and disputes over Gurdwara committees is unparalleled anywhere else outside of Punjab. They are at once the most and the least serious about Sikhi of all the sangats I have encountered.

I'm not entirely sure how this circumstance came to be established, I'd be interested to know.

  6. Gavin? Sikh name...

His parents divorced? does he not see his parents? are they dead? why does he not go and get roti from his mother, or can she not cook?

Bhai Harinder Singh Ji does not look like he's lying. You can see the truth in his eyes.

This Gavin clearly had some sexual feelings for Bhai Sahib, and he must've felt spurned when his blatant advances were not reciprocated.

  7. When I was watching the fight I saw no confidence in the Singh. His body didn't even look strong. The other guy looked like he worked out a little and that gave him a confidence boost. We should have the confidence to bulldoze through <banned word filter activated> heads like that just like vitor belfort when he goes crazy on his opponents( ill put up a gif)

Wake up Singh's!!!! Our own community will start attacking us. Those are guaranteed our community members.

    Waheguru

Half of our Kesdhari/Amritdhari Singhs are so fat that their bellies hang and wobble over their kamarkasas, and the other half are so skinny that their little legs look like sugarcanes underneath their cholas.

If we're going to wear the warriors' bana then we should earn it. It isn't to be used for dress up. Why are Singhs so unhealthy these days? Is this the inevitable consequence of sedentary lifestyles and professions which render one inactive for most of the day (Accountant, engineer etc)?

  8. Not "punks". It's APNE.

A group of apne jumping and assaulting a dastar wearing Singh.

If this was the UK 99% of the comments on the video and here would be about identifying the culprits and publicly shaming them. Are we to assume that the Punjabi youth of Canada are now beyond the level of shame ?

I thought so too. I'm not sure about some of them, but the bloke shouting "leave him man, leave him now, chill, chill" is quite clearly apna, you can tell by the way he pronounces his 'L's. Very subtle giveaway.

  9. LOL.......

i personally dont mind these conversions at all.....fark it.

    Punjab's a lost cause anyways....

The people these church's seem to be converting aren't SIkh's in my book.......Let them do what they please.

Brother, Punjab will never be a lost cause, it can never be one. All of our most sacred Guru Ghars are there. We cannot ever abandon them to the Brahmins and the Christian missions.

Lopping of heads? The admin on this forum allows such horrid remarks?

The original poster is some Jai-Hind Bharat Mata Ki Jai psycopath who believes there is an imminent war coming between Western civilization and Dharmic civilization, which he insists that India is bound to win. He is in all likelihood a troll.

  10. Oh dear, firstly there is no such thing as 'sikhi' and for a sikh, there are no mandates or religious laws but rather truth and principles that are available for all to be able to make choices. Someone has asked a question about hair length, clearly they are interested in keeping their hair, so why make unnecessary comments. For your information, there are deep spiritual reasons for keeping hair which go above and beyond your explanation and is irrelevant to this poor brother's question.

I get so tired when I hear this 'there is no sikhi', 'there are no religions', 'sikhi isn't a religion with religious mandates' argument. A religion is a particular system of faith and worship. Sikhi fits this parameter. Religious laws are ethical codes taught by religious traditions. Sikhi also fits this parameter. You can carry on playing your esoteric word-games and insisting otherwise, but that won't change the reality.

Please be reassured that length of uncut hair has no bearing on your spirituality.

As you said, the spiritual science of kes is irrelevant to the length of kes. Hence it is irrelevant to the OP's question. The OP was concerned with how his Kes looked. My reply dealt wth how his kes looked, and why his concerns were ill founded.

  11. Yes, forget Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Its clear from the way he dresses and behaves that he's hopelessly loopy. I don't think you can begrudge a nutter for being a nutter. But shame on his followers for having been so stupid as to let themselves get castrated. I'd say they come off worse here than their deranged 'guru'.

  12. Another flurry of nonsensical and unintelligible points?

I find it so laughable when you Indians insist that your inept third world fake-democracy is on the road to becoming the next great superpower. You'll never overtake China, which produces almost everything the world needs. India produces nothing but cloth and onions. Your cars, your electronics, all your technology, is shoddy and second rate compared to the goods manufactured elsewhere.

The Chinese people are also raised in such a way that they make their own individual needs subservient to those of the state. This is why they advanced so rapidly in the world. Indians however are brought up to be selfish, caring for nothing but the advancement of their family and the procurement of wealth. This is why your government is so hobbled and rotted through with corruption. You can barely feed most of your people and you propose to take on the likes of America and Europe?

The West laughs at you. The whole world laughs at India and its delusions of grandeur.

  13. That is the stupidest thing I have heard in my life.

The british gave you a new history after 1857 ad you fell for it flat.

Name me one white discovery not found in the vedas or other hindu text.

    Hindu geo cultural term.

Look at Charak Samhita that melech hippocrates copied it.

Look at vishnu puran and das avtar now compare to darwin evolution.

What is there in the west?

Guru Sahib literally called the melech a diesease, and you think you can embrace these goras as 'singhs'.

No different than kejriwal sitting on a dharna to give farmer 1x market price instead of 4.

This makes very little sense. What is your point? What does instituting a puraatan maryada in the Gurdware of the diaspora have to do with whether or not Hippocrates plagiarized some archaic Indian tome?

Make your arguments concise and pertinent rather than firing off completely irrelevant details one after another.

  14. Religious exclusion? Oh please. Gurdware up and down the country make thousands upon thousands of pounds every week. I'd imagine the same is true of Mandirs and Mosques, where attendance is equally high. These institutions are perfectly capable of funding their own social programmes, as the Gurdware usually do.

Christian Churches on the other hand are lucky if they can even scrape together a couple of hundred quid on a Sunday.

Let them have most of the money, the poor things, God knows they need it.

  15. Sorry guys, just trying to inject a bit of light hearted humour.

Ah hell, there's no need to apologize for my having so poor a sense of humor as to not see a joke when its right in my face.

    .

If you come from a society that had an agrarian society then moved into an urban/mercantile society with a rich history/culture where you have a system where you understand what money is and what you need to get to move forward. You come from a society that has the necessary complexity to be able to move into another society that also has similar complexities.

Our parents/grandparents managed the transition from agrarian backwardness to urban progressiveness easily enough. These people have no excuse.

  16. They helped us win 2 gold medals at London 2012 in the middle/long distance events which has not been done since the legendary Seb Coe/Steve Cram/Steve Ovette days. They also advertised to the wonders of Quorn mince, and the term "Practice, protein, practice, protein" as well as the Mobot.

The Olympics are vain, just a load of countries posturing and preening like a bunch of teenage boys in the locker room showers. What actual good have Somalis done in Britain?

  17. Very good point. I do wish people would realise that these immigrants are a reason their grocery shopping, in real terms, costs a tiny fraction of what it did in the 1970's and 1980's. These immigrants, pound for pound, pay far more into our economy than they take out. These immigrants have been a life saver for our home services industries. These immigrants have been an inspiration to us all in the way these Polish women, for example, with degrees and masters in Art and Philosophy, are willing to work so hard as cleaners and factory labourers. These immigrants have given our children the wonderful opportunity to mix with, study with, socialise with so many diverse cultures and nationalities.

They are us and we are them.

"They are us and we are them."

Putting that nauseating bit of sentimentality aside, I don't think anyone can be in doubt that the Poles are an upstanding community who work hard and integrate well into British society. But we should not make the mistake of using the term 'immigrant' as an umbrella term to describe anyone from any foreign country, nor of treating all immigrant communities as if they are of the same caliber. I've never met anyone who could tell me that the Somalis add as much to their local communities as the Poles do, except perhaps a copious increase in the number of robberies of old ladies. Not wishing to be unfair, even our young Punjabi men who have recently arrived in this country appear to be possessed of a rather shoddy work ethic.

Not all people are of comparable character by simple virtue of the fact that they come from overseas. Not all of them come here with the intention to work hard. And it happens to be the case that this inertia is more widespread among people from certain parts of the world than people from others.

  18. It comes as no surprise to me that the esteemed George Bernard Shaw himself admired the Prophet Muhammad, since Shaw was also a great admirer of Joseph Stalin, who murdered millions of his own innocent people and sent millions more to suffer in Gulags. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1433323/How-Shaw-defended-Stalins-mass-killings.html

Also ironic that you use the Hadith of Bukhari to insist that Muhammad respected women. Here is further information on Muhammad's opinions of the female sex, from the very same Hadith you have quoted: http://knowing-islamic-doctrines.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/hadith-on-muslim-women.html

It is clear to me that you will never cease in your defense of Islam, and that no matter what I post to prove that your line of argument is mistaken, it shall yield no pay-dirt and you shall respond with more quotes. I have said all that there is to say on this subject. I'm done.

  19. ASKHALSA cmon my friend he has come here and has shown respect to out guru jis why do you have argue with him we can all get along.

I am not enjoined to respect any position or any faith, least of all one which maintains that I am an infidel who shall abide forever in hellfire. I shall not desecrate Mosques or defile the Koran, but I am possessed of the right to freedom of speech which I exert to point out the dangers of the fundamentalist Islam. I haven't said anything that is a lie.

  20. Don't Use Such a bad language for Our Holy Prophet. We bear every thing except this. This is my request to please control .

Secondly , If i say i am sikh. and i force any muslim. Would you beleive it.

    same Thing is here.

Muslims in Kashmeer, Afghanistan,Chechnia and Palestine are suffering . Whould I say you people are killing them. No, It is our fault.

Yes, everyone is quite aware you cannot bear insults to the prophet, and of the way in which many of your coreligionists react to them. Embassies are attacked, journalists murdered, magazine offices shot up etc. None of the followers of any other religion, including Sikhism, appear to be as thin skinned as Muslims in the matter of criticism of their faith.

No 'bad language' has been used, every accusation levied against Muhammad by brother proactive is true and very well-substantiated even within your own religious tradition. He did kill, he did rape and he did enslave. These are not matters of opinion, but history.
