  1. Ok, so Year One: Special Edition just launched on XBox1 and PC. One of its main characters is a Sikh girl called Gurubani Kaur. She has two special historical weapons - the Khanda and Talwaar. You can see her stats and watch her in action in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-YgkCMOvqk#t=47 What are you thoughts about it? Also, another new upcoming multiplayer espionage game will feature a Sikh character, called Mr. K. The developers have styled him in a way that he has a full beard, and he will consume only water and no alcoholic drinks (not sure if this was necessary or not). http://cdn.spyparty.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/MrK.jpg Read more: http://www.spyparty.com/2015/04/28/meet-the-third-group-of-new-spyparty-characters/ ----------------- Is it possible to create a new thread discussing about Sikhs in video games? I love playing games, and this to me is an interesting topic to talk about being a Sikh.
  2. Ok guys, the first part of Assassins Creed Chronicles launched. It is set in China. India will be part 2, and Russia will be part 3. Right when you launch the game, this warning http://m.imgur.com/puT7raq So yeah, all I can say is playing through the first part, it's a work of fiction. So don't get all mad and angry if Sikhs are "wrongly" portrayed in the second part which is to be set during the time of the fall of the "Sikh" empire.
  3. Cool water, I am a Sikh. It pains me to know your intellect is so low you even question whether I am a Sikh or not. The reason I ended up on this forum was cause I searched "assassins creed chronicles Sikh empire", and I thought it would be an interesting topic to discuss about. Now, I come from a country called Malaysia. We have so many cases of Muslims being offended by this and that, seeking preferential treatment. As such, you can see within this context, I have come to dislike people who take their religion too personally. I dislike the mentality of Indian Sikhs as a result cause they truly do behave like the Muslims I find in my country. Mind you, I have taken Amrit, and tie a dastardly proudly. But I don't take personal offence when someone says something bad about my religion. Similarly, with games, I have a very open mind. If it means that for every game or movie that portrays Sikhs in a positive light there is to be one movie or game that portrays them negatively, then I'd be pretty happy. The issue only happens if Sikhs are continually portrayed in a negative light, and so far I have seen no such evidence. Also, have you been on Reddit? There have been a few trending photos of turbaned Sikhs, and I was pleasant to find that the comments were made in positive light. Of course, there was the odd "bomb" comment about Muslims, but idiots exist everywhere. Awareness abut Sikhs in the western sphere is at an all time high. Games make fun of the pope many times, as do movies. Games make fun of Christians. But I don't see anyone threatening the developers. Please just have an open mind, is all I can say.
  4. I don't know man, but this kind of thinking gets you nowhere. Like I said above, Assassin's Creed games are set during certain historical times (the latest was set during the French revolution era), but what happens within the game itself is largely fictional. I would be ashamed to call myself a Sikh if my fellow brethren take offence/issue against this game if it happens to portray the Sikh Empire or Sikhs in a negative light. PS: I've played like a million games, so I would know better than anyone else that all kinds of people are portrayed negatively in games all the time - Russians, Muslims, Vietnamese, Japanese - and really, it's just a game. Don't think you're so special that Sikhs cannot be the "bad people" in games, cause I can bet you there are good Sikhs in games as well.
  5. Guys, first of all it is a video game. Assassins Creed games tend to be set in a historical background, but A LOT of liberties are taken. It's just the setting and time period and some events are historically accurate, the rest is made up stuff. I am certain they will not say anything against our Gurus or attack the religion itself, but don't be surprised nor angry if the Sikh forces are your enemy in this game, as I feel it would be. I have a feeling the assassins job is to steal the Koh I noor from the Sikhs for the British. Also, the assassin hates Sikh forces due to them killing his parents in Kashmir. So, long story short, please be open minded. Nothing wrong if Sikhs are your enemies. We're not some special kind of people that need protection or need be insulated. Also, another new game will be having a major Sikh character. Game name is state of Decay : Year one edition. Character name is Gurubani Kaur, and her special weapon is a Talwaar and Khanda. Sat naaam.
