I'm sorry, I really don't know much about DG Ji other then there is a lot of controversy on it. Why would the Indian government attack the DG Ji when it is the best source for drawing parallels between Sikhism and Hinduism? That does not make logical sense. By drawing parallels the Hindus can finally lay claim that Sikhism is a sect of Hinduism. As it is Sikhism is not recognized by the GOI as a separate and distinct religion. Using DG Ji to claim Sikhism is Hinduism, the GOI can pry open the seats of power that controls Sikhism. First would be legislation created to open the election of Jathedars to Hindus as well. That will be the beginning of the end. The best way to kill your enemy is from within and not outward attacks. Outwards attacks only bolsters your enemy to further unite against you.

Sikhism is a complete rejection of Hinduism. There is no arguments here. Otherwise there is no need to create a new religion, just a sect within Hinduism. I've mixed with both sides and I can tell you based on my experiences, the orthodox Sikhs, especially those from India are very insular and have an extremely myopic view of the world. Mone's generally have a broader view. Yes, sometimes too broad until crossing the border into liberal cuckoo land. But majority of them have a more balanced view of the world.

I actually believe that is actually the case here. IMHO Jatts do show more 'chardi-kala ness'. They are the most generous and honest ones. They have unity the others don't have. They're able to come together when the need arises. What we are witnessing here is envy and people vying for power. This is what is driving them nuts. Jatts are also the most anti Hindu among all Sikhs. If a Sikh starts talking about similarities between Hinduism and Sikhism, 99.9% it's a non Jatt. If not for the Jatts, there would be a good chance we would end up being be another Hindu sect. Jatts truly embraced our Gurus teachings wholeheartedly.

Actually it's the Orthodox Sikhs (pugg/dardhi/amrit or no amrit) that are the most ignorant and in danger of being used as a tool. The mone's are the smartest and the most successful. There was a time Malwais and Majhe Jatts could not get along, so they opened their own Gurdwaras. Even today, not everybody is 100% agreement in how a Gurdwara is run. If in countries like Australia and NZ, the Asian Sikhs would have their own Gurdwara and the those from India would their own. The Asians don't like to sit on the floor for langar so they have their own Gurdwaras. There is always going to be divisions among people.
