I am so amazed at what you have stated in the bold above, because this is exactly what I pray for everyday, ever since I became a sikh. I have never ever looked back on my birth religion. Sikhism has given me so much that I can never repay the Guru ever. I have truly tasted the nectar, the Gubani, in my own special way! I am so lucky.
You must have noticed this is not a very common feeling among people born as sikhs by birth. It is quite unusual for their vocal chords to produce these kinds of comments! Do you know why this is so? It is due to the fact they have suddenly smelled the dollar notes in their new countries. They have started living in the lands of plenties..............

I recently went to a party and all I saw were Sikhs wearing tupac beanies with a shaved face. These people are an embarrassment.
It would be better for these people to be mona then disrespect the the symbols of our faith
That's because they prefer to look stupid than smart!

It is their hankaar that is making them think they are too good to be sikhs. They think they are a cut above the rest of sikhs and look down on them for following Sikhi!

He has a point.
I don't know or know of anyone who has successfully extricated Gursikhi from Punjabism.
Nor me. They all too busy counting money, no interest in sikhi.

What? You can't really buy anybody's ashes on the black market! Do you even know how expensive they are? They would only sell like hot cakes if they were below the stock exchange price! Not affordable, unless you have plenty of cash.In fact, I would discourage people from going there with a dead person's ashes too, because, you don't know who is going to steal them to sell them. They might keep the real ashes and give you the fake ones, like 'mitti' or something. It is all very weird over there. Bribery is very common ova there.

We need 'education' more desperately than anything else. We need to educate our kom, not only with paper degrees but with the 'actual' thing. Policy making requires an educated intelligent brain which is well equipped with many other qualities such as insight, wisdom, morality, deep thinking, courage, free from corruption, free from avarice etc.. We will definitely need good Policies and their makers!! Do you know the meaning of the term 'democracy? Does an average citizen of Punjab know the definition of democracy? So, you still think India/Punjab in particular can be defined as a democracy in spite of all the recent events?
I started answering your query but I have only just realized that you don't even know the meaning of democracy. Give me one good example of a democratic country in our present day times and I will know that you know the definition of the big word 'democracy!' Do you see our present day so called democracies behaving like democracies when you read or listen to the news? In my view, if India is a democracy it is definitely not behaving like one.
Spot on Kheerja bro!

Dear Friends, I am a westerner sikh trying very hard to follow this religion so I can achieve union with God. I first learned about this religion at school in Religious studies. I was very impressed and since then I wanted to become a sikh and lead a spiritual life. I have noticed while men can leave home and join a place where they can receive spiritual instructions by a Sant or a Master, women have no such place or places to go to. My question is, are there any women who feel like joining/starting a community like a christian 'convent' where women can concentrate on their spiritual development and progress in isolation like the sikh men can do? I have a christian background and I saw many women joining the convents when they were called by God to dedicate their lives to his service. It did not appeal to me at all at the time. I thought how awful!! Now that I have become a sikh for the past five years I find that is exactly what I need to do, to join a community where women can dedicate their lives towards God and make progress spiritually.
I think a life in convent prepares a person to develop a special kind of relationship with God. The nuns there know why they have entered it. It gives them a clear idea of what they want to do by entering the convent. Whereas, by becoming a sikh, I did not realize how difficult it would be to dedicate my life to God because we are always surrounded with people with so many different backgrounds and never understand what your aim in life is. I really need to be alone and among those that are like minded and seeking God in this life realizing that I may never be born again as a human next time. The chances are we may never come back again as humans for a long time. I am quite disheartened about this situation.
I definitely need a place where I can concentrate on God without distractions. I know some people might think it is odd for someone to think this way, but if you live with people who are walking the same path it helps to stay on the path. On the other hand, no matter how determined you are in what you are doing, there are people who will make fun of you and try to dissuade you from following your path with distractions and rude comments. And for someone like me who is a total beginner, it takes a lot of courage and confidence to come back on the path again after I have faced those that challenge me again and again, day in and day out. Even though sikhsim preaches to lead a householder's life we still find men wearing white clothes living in groups with their Master for spiritual instructions. Most Mahapurushas are single and live in sort of manastries, away from their families, why? Why have they not made any or the same provisions for women to do the same? Women also need to grow spiritually and have a special relationship with God to attain liberation.
Women in Sikhism don't have equal rights as men when it comes to making such important decisions such like marriage, education, whether to remain single, if to take the amrit and so on. They are still the property of their parents, brothers and do on. Boys get treated higher and they always want sons.

"The Mongolian wild horse is known in the West as the Prezewalski horse after the Russian naturalist, Nikolai Przewalski, who first sighted several herds in 1879. In Mongolia it is called Takhi and it is purported to be largely unchanged since the time of Genghis Khan (ca. late 12th - early 13th century). The word Takhi means "spirit," a reference to the horse's fierce independence and untameable nature." https://www.fei.org/...estrian-history
Mongols were merciless killers.

For those who deliver religious sermons, it certainly is an issue.
In India normal folks do not do this. In west an eighty years old marries a twenty years
old.Does that marry last.certainly not.
So it certainly is an issue and especially for those who claim to be well versed in religious
scriptures.
They do it for the person's jaydaat.

I also do hope it never ever becomes normalized ever. But it has been going on for a long time, that's why we see so many 'historical child abuse cases.' No one ever knew this was happening, so how do we know that it is not still happening or will not happen in the future even if in secrecy?

I can't see paedophilia being normalised. There's just no way that's going to happen. Most parents would literally kill anyone who approached their kid with those intentions. It would have to be a pretty messed up, brain washed society on its knees that allows it to occur.
....................But we are already living in a 'pretty messed up, brain washed society' as it is. There is a group of people that claim that this kind of behaviour is okay according to their religious beliefs. I do hope it will never become accepted as a 'norm' ever, but the way things are going, it seems highly likely it will.

I also wonder whether JSinghNz is a charmed favorite of the moderators. All the other nasties on this forum have been banned or placed on watch, and yet HE somehow persists, totally free to give voice to his vitriolic poison.

It's interesting how the the migrants don't go to Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar or Dubai
Those are rich Muslim countries, a lot more closer to them that also speak the same language.
They deliberately want to come to rich countries in Europe as the know that secular countries are way better to live in
Saudi Arabians + all rich Arabs encourage them to go to Europe instead as it increases the Muslim population there.
It is very worrying for other migrants already living in Europe, who arrived before them as this is going to cause shortage of everything. We already know there is a shortage of housing in these countries. You have a point.

This does make a lot of sense but it is still very worrying for migrants already residing in Europe including Britain. After reading this link one reaches a conclusion why migrants are arriving in their droves to the shores of the western countries. He says that 80 percent of oil belonging to Libya and iraq is in the hands of the West.
Also read this link to get a balanced view on the current refugee situation.

Oooooooooooooops!! Huge fragile ego again! The real world out there is not completely composed of people with huge ego's for your kind information. There are plenty of humble and secure people out there in the real world, thank god for that! Everyone is entitled to their opinion towards something so I can't see why would anyone want to tell someone off for having them. Similar views are fine but to to be bad to people for sharing an opposing view on the forum is not so good.
I did not know my opinion would cause you to reply in such a fainthearted manner? Have I said something too difficult for you to handle? Oooops, I do beg your pardon, for not realizing that! I thought you fully supported opposing opinions and told others off for not having them. You have really got me confused now. You mention some cliches such as 'fragile ego,' 'huge egos,' you wouldn't be referring to yourself by any chance? Of course, there are plenty of nice and caring people out there as well as humble and secure ones, but surely not everyone can be classed as such. There must be some that are not. Can you imagine how hard it must have been for someone to tell us about what her father did to her as a child. She came on this forum with a good heart hoping her readers would be 'humble and secure' who would listen to her story with empathy and in friendship. No, this is not how you reacted. You judged her and mocked her for sharing her pathetically sad experiences with us. This goes to prove how humble and secure you must be as a person. Instead of listening to her kindly and trying to understand what she must have felt when she was going through with her bad experiences, you did the opposite. So, no way, anyone can class you as a humble or secure individual. In my humble and secure opinion, it is really bad to be bad to someone who has already suffered something horrendously bad and is seeking to share her experiences with others with a good and honest heart.
I sincerely hope my piece of writing above has not shaken your super fragile and super huge ego. Have a nice life.
Oooooooooooooops!! Harsh words again! The real world out there is not completely composed of harsh people for your kind information. There are plenty of nice and caring people out there in the real world, thank god for that! Everyone is entitled to their sesitivities towards something so I can't see why would anyone want to tell someone off for having them. Opposing views are fine but to to be bad to people for sharing something bad on the forum is not so good.
In my humble and secure opinion this is my best composition so far! I am stating this opinion in the absence of a fragile or a huge ego!

Basically you're putting words into my mouth just because you have a different opinion. Not very 'Sikhi' of you. LOL!
This is a forum where different views and ideas are exchanged. There is no rule that states one poster must agree with other and cannot have a differing view just because that person feel extremely sensitive on a certain subject matter. In fact, this very notion defeats the idea of having a forum whereby posters are able to freely exchange/share different viewpoints.
As to the point about the father, you obviously have problems with your reading comprehension. It is irrelevant if the article is asking about my viewpoint about my father. I am able to criticize the article as I see fit as this is a still a forum after all.
If you are going to put up your story, be prepared for opposing views. That is life. Not everybody is going to agree with you. If you have a problem with this here, you are going to have problems in real life as nobody in the real world is going to care about your 'sensitivities' and will tell you off in your face.

Hi

Do you mean 'kuraht?' If someone commits a kuraht after they have become amritdharrie then they will have to appear before the panj piyareys and confess their kuraht. The panj piyareys will then tell him/her what to do before they can be accepted back into the panth.
