  1. I would love to learn the puraatan styles you advocate. Can you please explain more
  2. im not sure i would describe it as saying it was 'hinduism' was who discovered it
  3. well i agree onions are sometimes used in langar in some gurdware however im not sure they are at harmandir sahib but i am happy to be corrected that they may be... without getting into the specifics my point was about certain ingredients not being included one i know for sure is garlic and the reason behind it is that it is considered a stimulant
  4. thats right onions are also prohibited actually.. ginger isnt considered a stimulant chilli was introduced to india much later haldi is also not considered a stimulant. if you go to harmandir sahib you will see these standards are applied.
  5. all food at grudwara is usuall made to "vaishno" dietry requirements.. it has nothing to do with hinduism but rather the fact that some ingredients are considered stimulants such as garlic and there prohiited
  6. the reason why one should eat langar before going guru darbar for darshan is because it is the great equaliser.. guru sahib was breaking down the caste restrictions associated with brahmanism.. it is the practical extension of char dewar (four doors) everyone is welcome... it is the manifestation of 'vand chako' where the sangat through there 'kirat' hard work are supporting the people around them engaging without discrimination with society around them.. moreover by everyone eating food cooked from the same 'degh' by a member of the sangat (which in the gurus time was revolutionary, highly subversive and a direct challenge to the dietary practices articulated through casteism), and eating with people of any background, requires one to humble themselves and put aside caste differences and any concept of superiority. it is a articulation of the utilitarian and egalitarian nature of sikhi. when we go to eat langar we shouldnt be focussing on what everyone around us is doing.. that is between them and waheguru ji.. rich people should most definitely eat langar, in guru ghar no one is rich noone is poor.. when doing langar sewa i was always taught to say eg. "baba ji phulka" regardless of whether the person was a beggar, a child, or whatever... as sewadaar doing langar sewa we should serve all without any prejudice in our heart.. if we have in front of us a beggar in rags a true test of our own openness and humility is whether we can serve them with the same respect and dignity as we would a esteemed member of the community... if we look upon them and say in our minds "there only here for the food, just hurry up and move them on" we have failed
  7. Yes I am slow so please spell out exactly what it is you are trying to say.. You seem pretty confused.. At least try and stay on topic.. I asked you to qualify your statement about Jews and the Holocaust.. To reiterate that is the bit I didn't understand.. Lol So instead of just spitting venom and dancing around... Qualify your assertion or just be another bigot.. Although there is another option.. And that is for us to actually communicate
  8. Did I ever read about the "holocaust"? Seriously and then you want to come at me with a random statement like that? Firstly can you qualify what you are talking about when you say" they mostly used Jews "
  9. Wow.. Is that really the point of Guru ka langar? Your suggesting the point of sitting down and breaking bread or serving someone, rejecting caste boundaries didn't have anything to do with it?
  10. Oh dear! You really think it is that simple from my own personal experience of 1984 the police and paramilitary who were roaming the panjab were overwhelmingly Sikh.. Kps Gill who was the head of the police was Sikh.. Your lazy assertions are a deservice to the dead
  11. We sikhs are not bound neither defined by political borders.. Do you even live in the punjab? I bet you don't
  12. We sikhs are not bound neither defined by political borders.. Do you even live in the punjab?
  13. I'm curious? Your dismissive post suggests that these people don't live in the punjab?
  14. Well it is... It has Sikh, Hindus, Muslims, Christian and much else besides?
  15. So we should create a parallel state... Hardly the actions of the 'tisar' panth? Create a state where other than the religion behaves like the bigots it was formed rejecting..
