Paji there is a lot of information on this in the katha on raagmala, by Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh ji (i think - will try and find out). In it a lot of questions regarding how to control giaan indre, karam indre, getting rid of dubida etc. are answered. It's a pothi sahib with viakhiya, maybe sum1 can spread more light.

  2. Im looking for event ideas for my local Sikh society at university, preferably something interactive and sikhi-related. It has about 15 members max and not many people know much about sikhism. We did a basic talk on sikhism and dont really know where to go from there.. Guest speakers arent really an option coz we arent in a country with many sikhs.

    Need some ideas? Thanks

Just really interesting talks - by those Sikhs that are in your country.. like U

  3. It will be GREAT to have a Gurdwara Sahib managed by kaurs and I am sure it will have less of politics and fights that we have in almost every Gurdwara these days.

    You really reckon veeraa??!

U know women can be very (and I mean VERY) bitchy, clever and canniving.

There are 2 sides to every story when it comes to 'politics' as well btw.

LOL same can b said for the men running the gurughars at the moment

  5. Dear Sangat Ji,

To add to the latest update i went and visited my wife who is living with her parents .I did all i could even said sorry to test whether i can shed my haume but all these efforts doesn't seem to soften my wife . am surprised that after 4 yrs how can suddenly a female be so emotionless.Am i living in a society where father/husband is only seen as a mode to suffice the needs of the family and the females only consider a father /son a needed relationship in their lives how can my wife keep herself restrained from talking to me,if i call up then she responds well otherwise she is cold and i feel that i am unwanted in her life.Is doing job and earning well by my wife be the reason to destroy my family and devoid me of my daughter.

Pls pray to God its been the test for almost six months. How much low is sufficient to bring back my family. Will i have to live with my wife without self esteem. What can be the psyche of such families who treat their daughter as equal to sons and even not bother whther she is deleivering the resposibility as wife or not. When did the society which wanted the girls to study so that they might not be helpless after their husband and father changed to a society where a ladies profession has become more important than running the family.I s it the start of an end of family in India.

Should i do to bring back my family despite cold responses /disinterest.What actions related to this will make my Guru feel happy in this phase.Frankly i am not able to do path /simran.

    Rgds

With all due repect paaji, in case you haven't realised Sikhi encourages the equality of men and women... just like you may have the desire to provide for your family and become successful so may she, just because she's a woman she's not obliged to stay at home and fulfill the stereotype of a typical indian stay-at-home housewife. Maybe this has occured due to a lack of understanding from your part in terms of what she also wants, rather than you wishing to inflict this stereotype upon her? There must be some reason why, maybe respecting her views would be a start? Like above; maharaj does things to make us stronger, tests us to improve who we are; it may just be a test o you moh?

  6. Can some one please tell me veerji where i can find this shabad in amrit kirtan? or Guru granth sahib ji What page number? or if i can find pdf online that be great too.

    Shabad: Dum Dum Sadha sambalda

In Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj, it is on Ang number 556:

    ma 3 |

dhur khasamai kaa hukam paeiaa vin sathigur chaethiaa n jaae |

sathigur miliai anthar rav rehiaa sadhaa rehiaa liv laae |

dham dham sadhaa samaaladhaa dhanm n birathaa jaae |

janam maran kaa bho gaeiaa jeevan padhavee paae |

naanak eihu marathabaa this no dhaee jis no kirapaa karae rajaae |2|

    Third Mehl:

From the very beginning, it has been the Will of the Lord Master, that He cannot be remembered without the True Guru.

Meeting the True Guru, he realizes that the Lord is permeating and pervading deep within him; he remains forever absorbed in the Lord's Love.

With each and every breath, he constantly remembers the Lord in meditation; not a single breath passes in vain.

His fears of birth and death depart, and he obtains the honored state of eternal life.

O Nanak, He bestows this rank upon that mortal, upon whom He showers His Mercy. ||2||

Closest one like it says above is Guru Nanak Gurdwara, the address is 9 Holy Bones, next to the church.

From the clock tower in the city centre (5 - 7 mins walking distance):

Walk up the High Street (the road McDonalds/Highcross is on), once at the top of the road cross the 'bridge' and the end of the bridge turn right, walk past the church and the Gurughar is on the left next to the Fireplace shop.

Hope that helps... Also at Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara (106 East Park Road) Friday Youth Nights at 6:30pm til 8.30pm.. they are toooo good and not to be missed... just what you need after working in Kaljug :p

they dance and dance and jump all around, but they only suffer in terrible pain.

By dancing and jumping, devotional worship is not performed.

Penji by dancing around we're not helping our jeevans, if maharaj says that "Avar kaaj therai kithai na kaam, Mil Saadhsangat bhaj keval naam" then you have to realise that dancing really is of no use to you... put it this way if Dhann Dhann Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj wouldn't do it then neither should we... :)
