In our side punjabi language's fate is sealed.People are ashamed to speak Punjabi due to fear of being judged as pendu.Sadly there is no future for punjabi in pakistan. I don't remember when was the last time a book in punjabi was published in Punjab.
Pakistanis speak excellent Punjabi. Our Punjabi is shifting towards Hindi.

The Sarbloh Granth starts with Sri Mukhwak Patshahi 10. So it must be written by Guru Gobind Singh.
It was complied at Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib.

Why does the Sarbloh Granth have a separate name to Dasam Granth when the author is Guru Gobind Singh?

Indian is a swear word used by the British to describe the people of Hind.
And yes they did have the hots for Muslims.

Very true even the western politician are well known to go back on promise so the Sikh leaders holding out any hope in the promises of banias like MK Gandhi and Bahmans like Nehru was the height of folly.
With regard to British machinations it would have been easy for the British to sabotage so-called independence by giving the hundreds of native states the right to become independent. This would have left both India and Pakistan with huge areas of land out of their control and with their communications disrupted.
The British if they required a foothold in South Asia could have easily made a deal with one the many native states when they took the decision to stay independent rather than join India or Pakistan. Look at the image below, all the yellow areas were native states
The British could not understand the Indian civilisation. So India/Pakistan was a easier option for them.

The Muslim population were ready for partition and sharpened their axes to kill Sikhs and Hindus. The Sikhs and Hindus were saying there will be no Pakistan and only leaved the place when they heard the order on the speakers, for them to leave Pakistan.

In the year 1604 the Adi Granth was compiled by Guru Arjun Dev Ji. Bhai Gurdas Ji was the scribe. It was then installed in Harmandir Sahib.
In the year 1708 the Adi Granth was made Guru by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, after including the hymns by Guru Tegh Bahadur. Bhai Mani Singh was the scribe at Damdama Sahib.

But yes! We sure do need a few active moderators. The reason why we don't keep new moderators is because in waaay past, we seen them deleting stuff because of their biased viewpoint.
But it it's better to have a clean forum. We will contact few folks. Thanks for recommending some..

I am very sorry but am very sceptical of sants. The knowledge they may give, I am grateful - I guess it's when people put them on a platform and they allow it. I'm sorry if I may offend anyone. I'm still learning everyday.
After every diwan of sant isher singh rara sahib there was a amrit sanchar, in which some 600,000 people took amrit.

If U.K. was just an Island, then what's Northern Ireland? Or even it's other islands that it owns in the middle of the ocean. It's got a lot of influence.
The UK is still great due to multi cultures living here. But it is loosing it's countryside. It was better off in the 60s where everyone spoke English.

And the other like it after 10yrs, so stayed put, but they set up a business there too, which is doing well.
I stayed there for a few months also, I didn't like it, because of the community environment I was in, and negative relatives. But apart from that it is a lovely country, families tend to have bigger houses and loved the mountains and sea, open space. But, as another poster mentioned, one needs a car to get everywhere, so it's harder for elderly people or those with disabilities being so far from facilities and people.
Canada does have ALOT of open space which i prefer. When i was small the UK seemed so BIG! Now it's just a island.

Hello again, thank you all for the replies. I am aware there is a language barrier and more importantly a pronunciation barrier - I looked into possibly learning Punjabi last night and their are sounds in there that are very difficult for me to make naturally - much like how Indians have a different way of pronouncing many words in English.
From all of your responses and the research I have done myself, I will be studying Sikhi for some time. I have created an account on this forum now so I will be back to post about my experiences and if I have any questions or experiences to relate.
Again, thank you all very much for taking the time to respond, I am very grateful. It has been very helpful and I wish you all a very happy and fulfilling future. I have only ever met honest, helpful and happy Sikhs and this anonymous online forum has shown the exact same! You are incredible people given all the persecution you have faced previously and even today!
I will study and I will visit the Gurudwara following the Sikh custom. I feel a lot less nervous about going and I desperately want to volunteer some of my spare time to a charitable organisation and I don't trust large charities due to their similarities to big corporations. Perhaps the Gurudara is somewhere I can do a little good. Thank you all so much and I hope the following isn't wrong/offensive.
Shukria, sat sree akaal.
Well done!

Is conversion to Sikhi welcome ?
I wasn't born in India (we only go there once every three years to meet relatives) so I can't really read the Gurmukhi script or any proper punjabi script.......
My parents took me to a gurudwara regularly as the closest temple was too far, and my hindi was weak so I didn't want to go there anyway.
I'm aged 16 - 20 if that matters.
Well done!

Sikhs should not target other Sikhs. Rather we need to focus on how to spread Sikhism to non-Sikhs. The time has come for this.

There isn't much social life or community in Canada. Everything is like 2 hours away, which seems crazy in the UK.

How about happy independence Pakistan. Since our Nankana Sahib is over there.

The old Punjab up to Peshawar split in half. Lahore the capital of Punjab gone to Pakistan. The Sikh holy city Amritsar gone to India. And a stupid Wagah border in between.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Found this article, and I do think it relates to some things going on among Sikhs today. As much as 70% of Thailand Sikhs have Non-Sikh names there.
Names should be based on gurbani such as raam, waheguru, Gurmukh singh.
