we have told Mahan to get busy reading Guru ji , Dasam Granth and Sarbloh Granth directly if he has doubts , and his constant answers is no , I can't do that, tell me instead. If he was so concerned about learning he would make effort

With all respect to our Dharmic Granths and Guru Ji, one does not alleviate his doubts by just reading. This is why we have the concept of sangat. Just saying something is verified or that something is divine and the absolute truth is illogical. All other faiths claim that their religous texts are the "truth".

I've had the fortune to spend time amongst plenty of healthy minded Gurmukhs and one thing I can say is, I wouldn't have gotten anywhere had they just told me to read Guru jee's bani. I've also seen the quality of life that those which just read, misquote and misrepresent the essence of Gurbani. Not only is that such a misdirection to the approach of Gurmat it is plain outright dangerous and with information so readily avaialble no longer applicable.

Mahan dulai you seem like a guy lost in various ideologies, I personally dont think your a troll. Maybe because you didn't come from a religious family that didnt teach you real sikhi from early age so your questioning stuff and trying to rationalise it in your mind now?

I just wanted to chime in with my 2 cents on what you've just said here. Lets assume he didn't. I think such a person is in a better position because he will be coming in with a much more open empty mind rarther than the brain wash that some Sikh families have been raised through. I welcome a continous challenge to learn and rationalise and undoubtely such duty is what led Guru Nanak Dev Jee to challenge the society and belief system he was surrounded by.

Those posessing long term experience/"refined"/experienced interpretation of a passed on mindset will always be threatended and uneasy and not flexible in accepting that perhaps their way of thinking and understanding anything not just Sikhi may be outdated or interpreted incorrectly by those they learnt off.

  3. Radha Swami - Meaning, Radha in Sanatan mythology means great power and swami means teacher. So, getting to the point means teachers of great power, translated word for word. As for Sikhs not liking them, that's incorrect. Radha Swami's are respected as any other sect within the Sikh dharma.

As for Sri Laadi Shah, seems to have similarities with the Sufis and may have links with writings of Waris Shah. Again your questions regrding SIkhs not liking them, you have been misinformed.

I don’t know much about it this but Google seems to have huge amount of information regarding your two questions.

I'm afraid you are misinformed. Radha Swami's are NOT "respected as any other sect within the Sikh dharma". They are not part of the Sikh "dharma". The Sikh dharam has jathebandiya such as Nanaksar, Ratwara Sahib, Nihangs and AKJ. These jathe all follow Sri Guru Granth Sahib JeeRadha Soami is not 1 of these jathe as they do not see Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee as Guru.

Please check what you're writing in future as the last thing we want to do is misinform people.

    Gurfateh.

  4. Mehtab Singh jee, are these 'facts' or points you have made about the ramayan or mahabharat what the hindus are showed? For example on these t.v. series they have or movies they make, are these shown there or is this something you have come across by yourself some how? I have no idea about mahabarat or ramayan and I don't really watch the series (guys flying with massive ladoo battons, does seem funny).

  5. Well if you really want to meet Baba Jee, you should definetly give it an honest effort to do so. Who cares about other people not wanting you to meet them? Does Kaljug really want us to meet Gursikhs? Alternatively, you could find out when they are back at Harianbela and try meet them then, it's a lot easier that way. My nanake are at Chabbewal and it's easier because of that (2 min drive). Also makes it easier back home because they tend to have a bit more open time etc, down here in the UK they are here for perhaps just a few weeks and so much going in that tight space.

Also without quoting anyone, one does not need a reason or a type of bachan to go meet Gursikhs. Be true to yourself and don't care about what others think. Good luck.

  6. That's the beauty of this faith. It does not hold any importance to from where one is born. If you are born into the house of a king you are just as equal as one who is born into the beggers house. You're a king, in your own home but come to Guru sahibs home then you are all kings at the same level. To say something as ignorant as "He was a hindu for the majority of his life and he would side with the hindus" is not only disrespectful to Guru Sahib but is against Guru Sahibs teachings directly.

S4NGH we all say things that can be wrong and sometimes our intentions are not in the wrong place. I just hope you look into what you have said and understand there are many Sikhs with us today who are not of Sikh upbringing. I'm not saying come here and appologise or anything but just review what you've said in a logical manner and perhaps seek the council of Gurbani on this thought as it can be a very dangerous one.

  7. I don't really see a proposal here, pretty much a one liner about how you want to make a non-profit Sikh Shop from where you also want to earn a wage?

You have to explain where you expect the wage to come from and go into the nature of the business more. Ie on what scale do you plan on doing this, where are you going to store your stock.

Or are you just asking us if this is okay for you to do and in accordance with Gurmat?

  8. I've come across some wrong translations of Gurbani on apps such as Gurbani anywhere and also on the website searchgurbai.com - From what I understand they all use the same translations as the same mistakes are on a lot of different apps etc.

This is unnaceptable and such applications which portray Gurbani in such a way should not be available. I'm going to display 2 examples of worrying mistakes that I have come across recently.

    Example #1

    http://searchgurbani.com/guru_granth_sahib/shabad/3260/line/2

(You just have to read the translations for a few tuks and it becomes clear what i'm on about)

Example #2 (A more dangerous example as this is changing Gurbani itself)

On the android Gurbani Search app if you search for this shabad : http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=10073

It changes a word on the 2nd tuk. Instead of Gur Simar, it changes it to Gur Daas.

This needs to be checked out, all the Gurbani displayed on apps made available to the public need to be reviewed by 2-3 panthic bodies who take their time to check the Gurbani and make sure its translations and the Bani itself is accurate.

If you pay attention to the first example, that seems pretty deliberate. I'm sure many others have had similar experiences, would be great if you could also contribute and hopefully somebody who is in touch with the people who put such Gurbani sources out there can get this looked at.
