  1. get tough and beat him.

Joking, not sure really I guess you could do an ardaas for him to have a strong gursikhi jeevan.

You probably already have but try talking to him about this. Also has he always been "slacking" or is this a sudden change because of some circumstances? Maybe someone else will have something more helpful than me.

  2. playing games where you shoot people and fight wars are good as it strengthens the warrior spirit and conditions our minds for yudh. A good exercise is to do simran loudly whilst playing the shoot em up as it will also develop bir raas.

However, other games such as social type games are a waste of time as they promote kaam and greed.

You should make a video tutorial on how to do this technique. :p

  3. Another incident, how many of us acted on the previous incidents. Sure we all sat down and watched the Sikh Channel coverage of it or maybe felt angry for a while. Eventually it was washed away and forgotten. I don't see anything different happening here, I'm sure there are organisations out there that are trying to stop this from happening.. but simply not enough. In Sant Jarnail Singh Jee's time the singhs had a general to point them in the right direction and bring them together with Guru Sahibs kirpa. We no longer have that.

  4. This person listed in the article is called "Gurdev Singh" and was a granthi at Gurdwara Harianwela Sahib (Misl Shahidan Tarna Dal). He was spreading manmat there was also ruining the discipline of the jathebandi and no one is to sit down with this person or give him hospitality and if you do so it's at your own responsibility. Basically stay away from this guy. This is the gist of the article written by Jathedar Baba Nihal Singh Jee from Gurdwara Harianbela Sahib.

  5. Where I don't disagree with you, however the thing about Kachera's remaining how they are but just adding an elastic strip to it for whatever reason should or shouldn't be anything wrong. Boxers are boxers, kachera is a kachera and that's not the question here. Just because boxers have these elastic strips in them doesn't mean using them would be wrong in other garments if they serve a practical purpose.

The question : Get a traditional kachera (with it's nala, all the original cuts etc) Add a elastic strip to the inside. Wrong yes/no?

I guess there isn't a straight forward answer and probably situational : "only times kachera should have elastic is for old or disabled people"

  6. Was discussing with some fellow sangat about how Kachera should be the way they were in Guru Jee's time etc, standard long nala and whatnot. Someone mentioned something which I thought might be valid and I thought i'd share with you to see what you thought. Say if you keep the kachera as it is, with it's nala and every other cut the way it is suppose to be however you ADD elastic around the waist. So the theory was that you arn't taking anything away from the kachera but just adding an elastic layer which in effect helps with it from falling down etc.

What are your thoughts on that. Also are their any quotes from any rehitnama's which are AGAINST 'elastic' in kachera etc.

  7. A word of warning: Protect each other, our houses and businesses and our places of worship. Protect other peoples premises and holy places if you deem it necessary. But let's not get over-excited and fight other groups battles for them if issues escalate. There's a fine line that we should not cross. If history has taught us anything, its that Sikhs have a habit of getting screwed over even when undertaking honourable and selfless duties on behalf of others.

    +1 to that :fight:

  8. I'm going to be going to Punjab soon and I want to buy a decent vaja for keertan use. I'll definetly be in Amritsar and Ludhiana. Does anyone know a place where they sell good quality harmoniums and at decent prices? Don't want to get ripped off basically. I'm not too sure how to go about buying a vaja there, I've heard a lot about most places rip you off and they give low quality instruments.

  9. I agree with you when you say people were more naive and innocent etc. For example they didn't have all this media coverage, techonology, t.v. series etc and had a much more simpler living. We're talking about hundreds of years ago, you could even just talk about 50 years ago, things were definetly much more simpler.

Will probably get worse if this pattern continues and even fewer Gurmukhs will be about.
