Don’t look much alike to me

ive been told Sant Mohinder Singh Ji (Rara Sahib/Jarg) said Sobha Singh’s picture of 1st Guru was very good as it most resembles 1st Guru true likeness

I think it was bhai vir Singh hi or some other famous gursikh that sobha called to have a look at the painting and the gursikh was displeased and said “my guru Nanak dev ji doesn’t look like that”.

We shouldn’t even have paintings of guru sahib anyway smh

  2. Video conference will not work as you need to retake amrit. You will have to wait until covid is over. In the meantime read as much bani as you can and do mool mantar jaap. I would recommend start reading panj granthi so panj Singh know you’re serious. It’s up to the panj Singh if they want to give you amrit again because you have made a very big mistake, it’s seen in the panth as the worst kurehat (although all are bad). So you need to do constant ardas and read as much bani so you can prove to the panj Singh that you are truly sorry and are serious about sikhi now.

To be honest peer pressure is not a good enough excuse, you’re not a teenager, you’re a grown adult! Teens use that excuse when they get caught by their parents by drinking or smoking, not an adult. Don’t make excuses when you pesh, tell them the mistake straight and beg for forgiveness, tell them the bani you have read for this mistake and show them you’ve learnt from your mistakes.

  3. What I’ve learnt is that nothing is out of hukam. Even our ardaas, we may think we are doing the ardaas for more bhajan bandgi, but it is maharaj doing kirpa on us so we can get close to him, he’s making us do the ardaas. Vaheguru.

I personally think we have no choice at all, no power, everything is out of our control, even if we think we are doing it.

I remember a couple of years ago at amritvela while doing naam simran, I fell asleep and had a dream where I didn’t wake up at amritvela. I saw this as meaning nothing is out of hukam, everything is written, even my nitnem. I forgot about the dream and remembered a couple days later when I didn’t wake up at amritvela. I had dreamt the exact  same colour of keski, clothes i was wearing and even someone beeping the horn really loud outside at the exact same moment. When I woke up, I immediately said “dhan guru Nanak, menu maaf kardo, naam di daat bakhshdo. Then I realised it’s exactly what I said in the dream. That car beeping the horn could have been someone almost being in an accident, it was already written for that person that he would have a near miss accident, i had seen it 3 days ago. Everything is hukam.

I’m not saying this so people think i have an amazing avastha and I can see the future, I have a low jeevan, but it’s just one kirpa maharaj had done on daas to understand hukam. Maharaj could have made me remember the dream and so I would have known to be vigilant and wake up that day. But I didn’t, I forgot it, only remembered after it happened. This explained hukam to me. It was in my karam, that day I was going to miss amritvela.

Everything is happening in the will of ik... everything is ik. If those that are doing simran are saying it’s only happening because of hukam, then why can’t the person sinning be happening in hukam as well? It works both ways.

didn't baba budhaa ji crush an onion while blessing Mata Ganga ji.

He must have been using onion in his food then.

Hanji, but both these singhs still used onions etc in their bhojan, but only very little amounts of it. It’s not like they don’t eat it at all, they just take into account that it raises tamogun so will not add large quantities.

  5. I remember eating parshada at a sarbloh bibeki singhs house. The daal was very plain and there was really no turka, no mirch and not that much salt. Even though it was unique to me, it tasted so good! He was reciting bani while making it and the funny thing is when i went home after eating his parshada I was really in the mood to do simran. So I did some after sodar and read more bani than usual.

Another sarblohi told me that mirch, gatta etc raises tamo gun.

I forgot my account password and email lol so I have to make this here.

I am personally gonna follow this (as soon as I learn how to read gurmukhi properly)

This is just an idea but I think everyone should follow this, this is mainly for weekends because then you wont be able to get enough sleep.

2:30am to 3am - Waheguru or Mool Mantar( Not required but its good to do)

3 am to 4 am - 5 banis, Japji Sahib, Jaap Sahib, Tav Prasad Saveya and Chaupi Sahib, this includes (kirpa kiree ham par jag mata)

4am to 4:15 - Shabad Hazaree and Shabad Hazaree Patshai 10 (Do Both)

4:15 am to 5:30 am - Akal Ustad (Takes around 1 hour 10 min to do so you can do Brahm Kavach (32 times)) or any other Dasam Granth Bani (Like Chandi Di Vaar). Must be Dasam Granth Bani though.....

5:30 am to 6:45 am - Sukhmani Sahib

    Then do ardas

    And if you have time

6:45 am to 7:30 - Asa di vaar

    Then in the evening

5 pm to 5:15- Rehras Sahib (Including Chaupi Sahib (including kirpa kiree ham par jag mata) and Anand Sahib (the short one))

    5:15pm to 5:25pm - Aarti paath

    5:25pm to 6:40pm - Sukhmani Sahib

    Then ardas

    Then at night Kirtan Sohila

I put Akal Ustad because I have heard it is equal to 16000 Waheguru Jaaps can someone confirm?

What do you guys think about this? and dont start a Dasam Granth Bani argument.

How can you say naam simran is not required?! all of gurbani is telling us to jap naam. Every ang is related to naam. Every rehatnama which tells us to read nitnem also say to jap naam before bani. Naam should start when your eyes open at amrit vela, carry on while showering and then finally on assan. This is what maharaj tells us

    Fourth Mehla:

One who calls himself a Sikh of the Guru, the True Guru, shall rise in the early morning hours and meditate on the Lord's Name.

Upon arising early in the morning, he is to bathe, and cleanse himself in the pool of nectar.

Following the Instructions of the Guru, he is to chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. All sins, misdeeds and negativity shall be erased.

Then, at the rising of the sun, he is to sing Gurbani; whether sitting down or standing up, he is to meditate on the Lord's Name.

One who meditates on my Lord, Har, Har, with every breath and every morsel of food - that GurSikh becomes pleasing to the Guru's Mind.

That person, unto whom my Lord and Master is kind and compassionate - upon that GurSikh, the Guru's Teachings are bestowed.

Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of that GurSikh, who himself chants the Naam, and inspires others to chant it. ||2||

Guru Raam Daas Ji in Raag Gauree - 305

Doesn’t everyone’s panj Singhs give hukam for 2 hours simran? Or is it different for every jatha

    Minimum nitnem for abhiyaasi:

    2 hours naam simran

    5 baniyan

    Sukhmani sahib

    assa di vaar

    10 Ang sehaj paath

this is what daas was told at amrit sanchar.

Personally, I think Khalistan would be better if it was established outside of the Panjab. Look at Amish in America they have created their own communities based on their principles. If we had small scale communities that ran on Sikhi principles in places like Canada, we would have a model on which to expand (or transfer to other places). The institutions in India are far too deeply infiltrated and 'hinduvita-washed', to be reversed, sadly too much baggage. Also, the idea of Khalistan is of mindset too, and too few have the "Guru Maneyo Granth" mindset. Its a bit like the argument that people put against humans colonising other planets now...if we still have the same mindset (ego etc) we'll just end up doing to the new planets what we did to the Earth.

Yh or something like the Jews in New York. When you go to their part of the city, it’s like being in Israel! The culture, the close community, everyone in their traditional clothes, everybody speaking Yiddish. I remember going down there, it felt like I wasn’t even in America lol

This conservative society is so FUCKED UP. You really need to leave America if you can't bear the equality that this country provided you too ( in so many ways). Tusi jithey mrzi chle jao, soch ta othe di othe hi diggi rehni. Guru granth Sahib only mentions marriage of two souls not bodies of different genders. I'm so <banned word filter activated> happy that this marriage took place!! FINALLY, some positive ray of hope for Sikh/Punjabi lgbt community. That priest that you all talkin about is so brave! Kudos to him! And, comgrats to the couple and their families.

Being gay is a mental disorder, just like perverts who are attracted to kids. You guys need help, but instead you keep forcing your perverted acts on everyone acting like little rainbow fairies running around begging for attention. It’s disgusting, go and get married in a court, leave sikhi alone with your pervertedness!

  9. If you committed a bujjar kurehat then until you haven’t completed the tankah, you are still a patit. You are only accepted back into the panth once you complete tankah. Go for peshi asap if it’s still not possible to complete tankah. The panj Singh have every right to be angry and shout if you did something wrong however you will always be forgiven. Read gurbani, time and time again maharaj says all kilvikhs are forgiven and how vaheguru doesn’t look at our auguns. HOWEVER, you must get pesh within the dargah of the panj singhs for forgiveness, if you die with a bujjar kurehat, dharamraaj won’t be forgiving. Maharaj will forgive all, but a father has every right to shout, realise it’s only for your benefit.

Thanks veer ji. Does panj piare sahiban will be angry on me . after completing additional punishment will my kurehat be forgiven for which i was gone to pesh

  10. Hanji, I noticed in the protest that went on yesterday, more sangat was coming together and realising the lies of sarkaar. There were loads of people there that were saying naare for Khalistan, mixed with singhs and mone. Slap on the face of those people who always say “no one wants Khalistan in Punjab”.
Bhai fauja Singh did bachan that every 50 years blood is spilt for sikhi. Hopefully if a time arises we will be strong enough like those gursikhs. Only possible through naam simran though.

  11. There’s so many beadbis of maharaj that are happening in these current times and the events of today are no less. I’m sure like many other gursikhs, today’s events have left me very dukhi. I can’t even begin to contemplate all the bedabiyan that are happening as it just gets me really angry and I take it out on everyone in the house. Today I keep on asking maharaj when sant ji or any other likeminded individual will return and sort out the panth. If sant ji was here today, this stuff never would have been happening.

Im a firm believer in the bachans of baba takhur Singh ji no matter what. Bhai rama Singh ji in their book had darshan of what khalsa raaj is like and have explained it beautifully. The shaheed Singh said that maharaj is happy to grant khalsa raaj today if we actually become khalasey, keep rehat. Shaheed Singh especially gave emphasis on naam simran.

So sangat ji let’s aim to do as much naam simran as we can. Panj Singh give Hukam for 2 and half hours of simran but let’s try our best to do more. This is only possible through constant ardaas.

I’ve given up on any hope of our leaders to do anything about this situation after the shromani committee attacked the Singhs a couple days ago when they were protesting about the missing saroops!

It seems the panth is getting closer to a state where a soorma will be needed again.

  12. Idgaf this is disgusting and beadbi of maharaj. Patits have completely messed up anand karj. It should only be amritdharis. These lot have brought interfaith marriages, being drunk from last night then coming into maharaj hazoori, wearing inappropriate clothes at weddings and now this! There was once a time where only anand karj was for amritdhari, when people had respect for maharaj. I mean look at how they are sitting on chairs! No gursikh would do that. At least at takhts they have kept this maryada.

Vaheguru ji, when doing simran I start to feel a sort of vibration/ tingling feeling around my face , what is this? It starts of at the tip of nose then slowly all over my face. It’s like a tingling sensation all over. Sometimes it goes all over body through my arms and legs. It’s a bit scary as I don’t know what’s going on or if I’m doing something wrong. Also, around my ears and inside, it’s like something is moving in circles, I can’t explain the feeling. What is this? With guru Kirpa I’ve started to ignore the sounds and this has lead to a little progression. Im still young ji only 20

could you give tips on how to sit in one Assan  for longer please, and other posts simran related? I can go around an hour and half in one assan then I have to switch legs, it’s so annoying as dhiyaan breaks lol.

    i haven’t made degh before, I’ll try

You can ask the granthi Singh to make degh for you when you go to maharaj for ardas. I heard in katha that a gursikh who does 5 japji sahib, does ardas to maharaj with degh, they will have their ardas saffal. Read 5 jaap sahib as well for guru maharaj kushi.

as gursikhs this is the way we deal with stuff like this, instead of going to some baba who’ll tell you to break a coconut on Monday or something lol or wear a thread.

    Thank you Ji

What do people do if they wash kesh at that time? Use a hair dryer even if it wakes everyone else up?

    i haven’t made degh before, I’ll try

Waheguru ji, I was told at my amritsanchar to do keshi everyday, I was told to throw my kesh behind me and put keski as a chunni on my head. Then do naam abhiyaas. Once you have washed your kesh, wrap them in a towel for around 10 mins (no more or they will start to smell) after that throw your kesh back and put keski over your head like a chunni. Kesh will dry within 30 mins or an hour, it depends on how heavy they are.
