  1. ^^^^^^ is runnin out of stuff to say.. haha......
  2. To the thread starter ... First of all, I've been reading your posts, and I completely understand what you have been going through your whole life. I went through the same thing... Only probably worse... But the main thing that comes to mind when I read your posts is that you aren't really trying to listen/understand what the sangat is trying to say... I notice that when you answer, you have an explanation for everything and make an excuse for everything... Like, for example: You're making your own interpretations and excuses... it's like you say what you KNOW is right... "I know I won’t be showing any respect to the Guru’s by getting a hair cut, but if the Guru is in my heart, I don’t think appearance would be more important than reality." But then you follow it with an excuse to justify that cutting your hair would be O.K. Bro, cutting your hair might be O.K. for you... it might be O.K. for your family... friends.... and i guarantee, on the contrary to everybody else's statements here... you probably won't even feel bad inside... you'll easily live your life happy... get everything you want... "fit in" with the supposed "cool" kids or whatever.... maybe even land that girlfriend that you've always wanted since middle school.... but it ain't O.K. with sikhism... so you can't really call yourself that anymore... of course you can go to gurudwara still... still pray in the hopes of one day merging with waheuguru... but here's my main question.. how? Think of it like this... like a roadmap... Waheguru is the destination for everybody in the world, not just sikhs... you can take many different roads to try to get there one day... Chrisitianity, Islam, Sikhism... etc... many other religions... You gotta pick one and follow it to the fullest.. But what are you going to do then? You can't really convert, because you don't know anything about other religions... And after cutting your hair, you're not a sikh either... Maybe by "heart" but what's a sikh by "heart" really mean? honestly... Look man... you're young... 18... You've honestly gone through the toughest part of your life as a sikh... middle school.. high school... you're done with it... you can now choose, where you want to go to college... pick another place away from dallas... go to l.a... ny... jersey... get some real sikh influence... hang out with some peeps who know, and try to learn bout the religion.... you said your parents never taught u... so what? my parents never taught me how to type.... or how to work out.... you're never too old to learn... i respect and applaud that you're coming for help and advice before you take a drastic step and cut your hair... you showed us all honor and i can see that you don't mean this: It's just an excuse to justify cutting your hair... Because you've pretty much 99% made up your mind to do so... Look, your parents gave you the green light... And it's your choice.... I'm not gonna beg you to keep your hair, bro... instead offer you a new way to look at it.... I want to put this into your head and think about it... "If I cut my hair now, I'll end up making excuses for everything else for the rest of my life... drugs..education..work...whatever else.." And you know it'll be true too... I know it's hard man... Like I said, I lived in one of the most white trash areas around here... It wasn't easy... I came home with bruised lips all the time... School wasn't easy, but all that stuff, only made me stronger... I know everybody's different.. some weaker than others, some easily influenced... But all I ask of you is to give it another couple years... Go out to a different university in a differnt area and become a little more religious... I promise you, it all comes together one day and you'll realize EVERYTHING... what everyone's trying to say... it doesn't seem like it, but it does bro... it all comes together one day... and if you do cut your hair, I wish you the best in your life... and pray that you still stay in contact with sikh influences, such as this forum... gurudwara's, etc, so that one day you may be able to find your right path again.... Again, mad propz for comin here and seeking advice from everyone.... You're a good, smart kid and I know you'll make a good decision, and either way, you've earned my respect...
  3. ^^^^^^ gives DAMN good explanations, complete with illustrations!
  4. ^^ figured out why people think i'm a woman!
  5. HAHAHA!!!!!!! that was pretty funny man.... Yea, I agree that a flourescent green pag would look funny as hell... but i meant like dark green/almost gray lookin color... and that's only cuz my shirt was green as well.. i know some people on this thread said don't match colors, only wear certain colors, but i disagree... So everyone, wear whatever color you want man.... I'm pretty sure there aren't any restrictions such as this.. we would've heard about them by now if there were..... :T: <----- imagine that in flourescent green.. ahaha..
  6. ^^ is upset because nobody realizes she's a she... ps.... it's ok, peeps think i'm a woman.... what can you do?
  7. ^^^ thinks racism is bad ps singh khalsa, where in the us do you live? man i wish i was there when those people say something... :D
  8. WJKK WJKF Look man... I'm out of this discussion, like I said before, I don't want to argue this point with you back and forth... You know how I feel about this topic by now, and you're right, you SHOULD speak up if you don't agree with it... go email the people and tell them your views if you truly want to be effective... preaching to me isn't going to change anything..... peace and may God bless you all.. WJKK WJKF ps.......what does POW mean exactly? i mean what is it an abbreviation for.... thanks...
  9. my bad... i always call it a pag myself... but i wrote pagri just cuz i thought i'd write the full name...
  10. Just for fun, what color pagri/dastaar are you wearing today? I'm wearing green... :D
  11. ^^ is NOT black and does NOT have an english name ^^^ :D
  12. Veer or Bhain Ji, look, i'm not going to get into an arguement about whether to be involved in speed dating or not, because i believe arguing points back and forth only to come to no agreement and only bitterness in the end is useless... but the topic on we were discussing was gursikh speed dating... and you brought in stripper, and nudist beach... etc... i don't think that was right of you, when i didn't even mention these things or would have.... when you cite an example, like you were, please do so that is ont he same level with the topic we're discussing... honestly even Bass Singh would tell you that speed dating is a little different than getting strippers for a party... And I didn't say a gursikh can do anything... First of all, I'm not the rehat maryada... Nor am I a guru... All sikhs know the limits of their religion... And even young sikhs.. Bass Singh, I know young sikhs who are more connected with Waheguru than some gursikh elders.... They know what's right or wrong. I think there's so much going on around them in school, at friends houses, that if they know not to use drugs/alcohol with friends... i think they can make their own wrong/right decisions about speed dating.... If you're saying guruji gave us a head, then I agree... USE IT... when making decisions for yourself... and don't go to a gursikh speed dating event which you don't want to participate in... Waheguru
  13. ^^^ we use his/her name to say hello and goodbye
  14. ^^^ supporting our site! :D ^^^^ (thanks!)
  15. Well, I'm sure that when a person becomes a gursikh, he is leaving his religion, be it christianity, hinduism, and i'm sure that the feelings that his family and religion will have mimics our taken aback by his actions... but i think that if a person who is weak and has converted, to let them go.... sikhi is not meant for them... somebody who is stronger willed will take their place.. i have so much respect for people who were not born into a sikh family and became sikh, because they chose this path and respect it fully and don't take even a little bit of it for granted.. a person who was simply given the sikhi life by birth takes it for granted and does not respect it the way it should be respected... Yes of course, but what can be done? We can't go into everybody's house and take away the SGGS bir... We can just educate and continue to spread sikhism in every positive way we can.... Not just gursikhs, all people in the world are sons and daughters of God, and all the people in the world are brothers and sisters, je estran dekheya jaave... right? Good questions by the way.... :TH: Waheguru
  16. sangat ji, not that i'm interested in speed dating or anything, but if you don't agree with something.... then simply don't take part in it..... very simple principle actually..... a person can go around spreading wildfire saying don't do this, this is against sikhi, that is against sikhi... but when it comes down to it, just don't take part in it.... if somebody is holding a gursikh speed dating thing, and other gursikhs want to take part in it, i don't think it is anybody's place to tell them that it is wrong... yes the concept of sangat is there in sikhism, but eventually one will have to ultimately one day connect with waheguru on their own... Telling people that the things that are ACTUALLY against sikhism is one thing ex. drinking alcohol, cutting hair, these have been told to us by our guruji's themselves... but if you disagree with something like this, the best thing that you can do for yourselves is not take part..... waheguru
  17. ^^^ "highly" suggested that one of my threads be closed :D ^^^
  18. Hey Sangat Ji... WJKK WJKF, I had a question and I know it's stupid.. I'm not from the UK, and i've only been there once when i was really young and do plan on goin again very soon.... but what exactly does the word "innit" stand for... i've heard this word in many contexts... at first i thought it mean "isn't it".. but then it was used in places where you don't have a need for that phrase.... please excuse me for my naiveity, but i was just wondering if someone could let me know.... thanks..... WJKK WJKF
