"So I’d climb up on the rooftop most days and take pictures from up there, of anyone and anything passing by and of others on their rooftops.

This particular hawk (it is a hawk, right?) took to buzzing me and would come in pretty close sometimes so I was determined to capture it. As it goes I got quite a few decent shots of it, from above (yes it passed below underneath me), from below and of it flying away with it’s prey dangling in it’s beak.

It used to live at the top of a rather tall mobile telephone mast; which can’t be healthy and occasionally another hawk would appear and they would dance around each other in the sky, flapping away into the distance; playing some sort of intricate game. I could have watched them all day; come to think of it I did exactly that. Saw a lot more at Anandpur Sahib but none would ever come in as close as this one."

  2. He can state his experiences but he doesn't have to attack Naam Japna. I found it offensive. I don't see any value in what he is saying.

He never attacked "Naam Japna". You need to relax... Maybe take a vacation to calm your nerves. Take a week off of work or something, and just relax... Take a deep breath. Breathe in... Breathe out... Breathe in... Breathe out...

  3. I don't feel that there's anything wrong with it at all. Here's a quote from the video. I feel that it's rather inspiring.

"Happiness is a very simple thing. How happy you are is inversley proportional to how much time you spend thinking about your own predicament in life. Because when you stop thinking about youself and start living a life doing seva, then you create such a state of blessing within yourself, and you life within that vibration of naam."

Let's try something that can help us learn punjabi words that we might not have already known... Everybody on here is at a different stage of the amount of punjabi they know... So, think of a word, that you think is a difficult word and that a lot of people might not know and then tell the definition... for example, i can start... my level is not that advanced, but i recently learned that the word "chaathi" means your chest... Hope that helped somebody... :e: ok people... ur turn........................

  5. As glad as I am to hear that I was engulfed in Guru Ji's Naam, I'm still pondering..why exactly I felt fear. Of course, it wasn't like...scared fear but like...

It felt like I didn't start living until yesterday night..

( if that makes any sense )

I've been amrithdhari for... almost a year now...but still...it was like, my life flashed infront of me. As if all this time, I wasn't living for the right reason. Very strange feeling.. :)

yea maybe because you realized what you had been missing...? it's very hard to reach that state.. i have tried many times, but i've only felt that feeling once or maybe twice... it's a great feeling... just think, people who meditate, and jap naam every day, they must have and feel such an amazing connection with GuruJi.........

  6. .. i dun like dhaal/saag/kari/KHEER & saaviyaan !! .. yes do not ask me why ..

oh man... kari is sooo good man... i just had some for langar the other day.. i love kari.. but yea, donating the leftover langar to the homeless... can't go wrong with that... that's like the true meaning of sikhi.................

  7. same in the u.s. too... people love taking home langar, whenever they get the chance... in one gurudwara, they don't allow you to take it home, in case it runs out so people have to sneak it out... :) once i saw a kaur get busted for trying to take some home...

  8. Your parents have done so much for you. They've given you life... They've brought u up safely, and cared for you... They made sure your stomach was full when they were only trying to get by when they first moved to England. They stood by your side when you said your first words, took your first steps. They ask this ONE thing of you, to keep your hair as God gave it to you... And you can't even do this one small thing for them? You tell me, are you a bad son or good son? Only you know the answer to your own question...

  9. Gurfateh ji,

I was unaware of the host's opinions on sikhs. And I agree that there are sick people in other communities too. But I don't know about how we compare. Think about it. Even if the host is against sikhs, out of the 8 investigations that they aired, 3 had sikhs by name, and out of those 3, 2 had kes, and out of that, 1 appeared gursikh. Now think about how many non-sikhs compared to sikhs there are in the US... The fact that there are 3 sikhs (and not to mention, the incredibly high number of indians) out of 8 shows, is quite high. And it's not like they set it up... There's a group called Perverted Justice who runs the operation, and the host just asks the questions... He has no control of who shows up, who is chatting online, etc. So even if he is against sikhs, that really wouldn't have affected the outcome. What that guy did was wrong. What everybody did was wrong, but people here, in the UK, Canada, who see the show, are going to remember that one guy who stuck out of the show... the sikh dude, and then go and then relate sikhs to these disgusting perverted acts. It's sad, but it's human nature to do so. That's why it makes my blood boil to see this type of stuff. Most sikhs are hard working honest people, and we work hard to bring a good reputation to our names. Like SALDEF, SCORE, Sikh Coalition, is constantly fighting for our honor. Honor that was taken away from us as we were confused for terrorists, etc. And as we're slowly getting it back, something like this comes up and its just frustrating and embarassing. And also just plain wrong.

The host is always on the back of sikhs, i don't like it.. i heard that dude is always against sikhs in america from the start.. agreed that there are few sickooss in our community but we cannot even dare to compare to number of sickos in other communities..
  10. Gurfateh Ji,

You all may remember the famous Inderjeet Singh, who was caught in California on the show "Dateline - To Catch a Predator". He was trying to solicit an underage girl (12 or 13 years old) for sex online, and then showed up to the house and was caught by the Dateline Staff. And then there was another one, Jaswinder Cheema, in the previous investigation. And in the latest one, that just aired, another sikh has been caught. 23 year old Satinder Thind. You can watch the clip here:

    http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm?f=00&a...912603/&fg=

You may see a small advertisement before the clip. You can forward to about 4 minutes and 9 seconds, and you will see him. You can see him there without any dastaar or patka, only his kes made into a jooda. I couldn't believe this when I was watching it. I was just thinking, "oh, not again..." It's so wrong, and embarassing to have such members in the panth.

*Warning* Younger members probably shouldn't watch without some parental supervision, due to sexually explicit language. They tried to censor the words, but is still explicit.

Please excuse me if this topic has already been discussed, as I did a search and didn't find anything.

  11. i dont know much bout the rest - BUT ive noticed SOME Singhni'an at my local that look diffrently' at those who aint takin Amrit - so i dont think thats down to takin Amrit - jus down to the person

I know what your saying - but any transition takes place immediately after they have recieved amrit ... :)

Yes, but your point is arguable... I've never seen anyone change negatively after they've taken amrit, "Like KarKirpaWaheguru" said, it's more about the person's personality... Maybe you've experienced those types of people... But it's not a direct effect of amrit... All the amritdharis that I know are very nice and good people, and the opposite of what you observed, so I think it depends on the person.
