So you finally come to my point. Anyways, the point is The idea of letting people come to sikhi is different for both kids and adults: Kids: They are not interested in what gurmukhi is, that is something that comes later on. To let them come to you is something that has to do with punjabi culture, and spreading it in them. You see, let it be western or southern, when people arent interested in religion (as western [some] ) then it will not matter whether you approach them with sikhism or Christianity. Because they are not interested, BUT if you teach them the "punjabi" culture, then people will be more interested. Remember, you are not there to convert, but to lighten the spirit. So trust me, those who dont know anything about sikhi/ punjabi culture, will not be interested in how Gurmukhi, works, let alone what it is (no matter how poetic) For adults: The way of explaining is much more different, part of the reason because of their maturity. They are more likely to be enlightened by the spirit of gurmukhi, because the pains of life are just getting to them. Punjabi culture will be very good to explain also, and not just explain (cant find the *proper* word here), but also, because it is during this time that most people turn to god, so helping them with the good principles of sikhi, will also help them. Pritam Singh Khalsa, you dont seem to be getting the point of this topic.......its about "western" sikhs, NOT gurmukhi. So why do u keep on insisting that people should gurmukhia, and gurmukhi thisn and gurmukhi that. Is it so hard for you to understand that people here are talkin about bringing propel's interests back to sikhi. Now, the people who seem to be dumpin sikhi/punjabi for western values, I dont think your posts will convince them to learn punjabi, let aone gurmukhi. You see, you just keep going on and on and on about why people should learn gurmukhi. Gurmukhi, is a way our gurus used to express their teachings. So, i dont think you understand, people like gurmukhi if they are even interested in punjabi ways, and certainly those who dont care about punjabi, dont care about gurmukhi. Ok let me explain to you: Domains are never free, unless a hosting is forcing you to put like 3 ads on your site (BIG ones) excluding popups. And trust me, if you go on that route, then nobody will visit your site And here's how domains work-- -- you register them for one year, so in terms of "one" year, any consecutive number of years. -- that means, you own the "name" , for ex. "I own sikhsangat.com". -- Owning alone is not enough, what a domain merely is.....is thaat its an a sort of a forwarding right. -- But if you want to have a site, to show the visitors something, you can either host on your own personal server (not suggested for beginners $$$$) ro get a hosting company (i will give the *best* one) -- what happens with that is that, you have a domain name register in teh world's backbone dns servers, but then they do only one thing, which is route it to w/e address (ip) you have put up there. -- and if you want to show a site, get an hosting account, and then when people type in "sikhsangat.com" then the server will "forward" their request to the hosting company that hosts sikhsangat.com, and hence you will be able to "see" the other site, otherwise all you will get without a hosting account is, when ppl try to visit is a "the page cannot be found (IE)" [/b] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I really suggest paying a few dollars and getting your own domain, an an hosting account alongside with it, because a domain sounds more professional and gives the clean look, and ppl will visit more often. people for some reason, seem to think that fitting in is the important thing, for as far know, sikh are suppose to stand out. But anyways there is suppose to be only one thing :sikh and when you add western to it, that means, drug injecting, alcohol drinking, clubbin people. After all, india or america, i am one person , who speaks punjabi and hindi and bihari (accent) like the "west" never existed on my map. Sikhs are sikhs, they would rather be called sikh, punjabi, w/e. Those who add "westers" to it, try to impose the image of modernity, as if they were superior. Hell, look at indian(hindu) movies, they speak more english than hindi, give money stricken sikhs roles of jokers and so on. hahhahh, its funny ( no, it really is ) how those rss and other hindu groups are trying to get sikhism to merge. All I can say is, its a good strategy for taking out the weaker sikhs from our religion. We have had martyr's that have done things, that nobody, nobody has done or ever though of doing for anything, let alone religion. Sitting on a burning plate while not bowing away from the satgurprasad. But the only people affected by this propaganda, are the weaker link . Comparing this to old time, this would roughly translate to, cowards who are willing to betray everything, and convert under fear of death. So people, dont worry about this propaganda, our foundation is strong, and when foundation is strong, storms come and go, while the strongest still stand. Trust me people, guru's have made a strong enough sacrifice that things like this, come and go, but those who truly are gursikhs, they are not even touched by these things. For example, look at nirankaris, now they have done something worse than rss, they broke away form our religion, mixed it up with their own <banned word filter activated>(literally). I am sure you people know that a person is considered holy in Nirankarism, if his excreta (feces), does not smell. Now you see, i have given pretyt good examples, so people, brush this aside, and let us focus our god given quota of energy ( and breaths ) on something more important. You are so correct bhaa ji, But i did not mean that in the literal sense, this is a big world, and i couldnt possible make any assumptions about things like these, but we must think of like this, every race/creed/religion (if u many) has bad people and good people, but it is people who do good for people that coutns the most, and most importantly we should not always depend or make assumptions on outward appearance. America, might look friendly, but the "democratic" governments cares about anything but the americas, same for our government (Badal), cared about only him, and nobody else. I am sorry to say, but there is nothing that can be done through listening to just path alone. If I were to give one advice, that would be to: goto harimandir sahib, and do sewa(lots and lots of it). And with the purity of the heart listen to the kirtan, and do more sewa. See, it is in times like these, that people remember (or resort) to the last choice: the guru. i have read it many times, and experienced, sometime we remember everything but the guru , who runs this business. It is only is times that we have no choice left that we do the right thing by going to the guru, which we should have been doing our entire lives. Afterall that is our purpose. Also, i would like to know, say on a scale of (1-10), how religious has your dad been, not just religious, but has cared about sikhi, and has refelected upon the guru's teachings. That would help. Anyways, my final advice, goto gurudwaras, and do sewa, empty all the things in your heart, for it is only him(guruji) that can cure him, for he can cure what cannot be cured. in times like these people, people: resort to guru ji's ways, and remember the story about good apples, and bad apples. We should not blame an entire race, because of actions of one person, even though there are 20 bad black people for every good one. Anyways, it was chosen by guru ji for this had to happen, pray for him , and his family. there is a post right in teh same forum , with the same name, and the same header post, If this is a mistake, i urge you to fix it. Well not neccesarily "urge" but, u know, just try to merge it or something, fateh.

After looking that: I am sure, that the person who did this, somehow stumbled upon that picture, did the least amount of research (mixing india/curry with nihangs--lack of information) and decided to edit the picture, to something stupid. This is a minor offence, and not something that you should take heavily upon you hearts. We obviously know that this person is not informed, and if informed, will not do such a thing. After hearing all the people who care to give one side of the coin, let me bust you the other half. :TH: You see, out of the greatest people in our religion: some were born sikh, and some not. But why do you people worry about sikh youth, and them doing this, and that. I hear nothing about parents doing anything to influence. Its very easy to leave everything on the gurudwara, and hoping that after going to some youthcamp, they will automoatically have an interest in sikhi. Truth is: even if you send them there, they just think of it as a piece in thir life, that they are anxious to get over with Personally, I believe, let the suckers take drugs, let them indulge in the vicious practices that are the traps set up. Why, because of two reasons: firstly their parents dont do anything, and are themselves indulged in the money, "hankaar", greed [wanna make as much as possible] ((especially outside of punjab(heck, even my cousins panrets are like this)), and secondly, guru ji takes tests of our human soul's attachment to god, by throwing traps along our human journey towards god[such as greed, hankaar, anger, and such]........ Doing such, eliminates rats from our communities, if you are born a sikh, and disregard sikhi, it wont be long before you dont have a religion, or are in a shape that you dont care(money and stuff). You see, true sikhs, they stick to their religion's way, even througha blast of a nuclear bomb, and those who dont, will turn their heads towards it, even for a matter of $5 dollars (or a free cheeseburger) as opposed to those getting scalped alive, for not giving up their religion(bravest of the bravest gursikhs). You see, shedding the parts of our skin that is no longer needed, is a natural process, and that is exactly what is happening here, people who were born sikh("personally, i dont believe in such thing, for YOU choose to live by sikhi") and are not attached, automatically lead themselves to path that takes them away from sikhi, and --> its on to the materialistic world. Another point i wanted to make, its not something you get by birth, but smething that YOU choose. SOme of our greatest sikh followers/warriors/saints have see through other religions to see the true light. That same "true light" is what people need, and is not something you get from a gurudwara, but from the order of the almighty god. You see, when our ancestors fought the mughals (or played some part in assisting), we could have built the million man army, by inviting hindus, and giving them lectures about sikhis and such. But we didnt, why, because when you take out the fake sikhs, and eliminate the fools who choose to follow the path of materials' world, then what you have left is "true" sikhs, in their concentrated form. And that doesnt neccesarily mean, less of us, infact when we have people like that, we tend to have more sikhs who are true to their religion. wjkk wjkf Hello everyone, This is my first post here, so Ill make this a quick one: -------------------------- Over time, i have read topics, on this forum, ranging from strong demands for khalistan--> People discussing anti-sikhi issues(gay and stuf). But what I want to explain here is that, when I goto tribuneindia.com, and read everyday news (Punjab & Chandigarh) I think that every single day --people are only being more indian,, and forgetting what India has done to us, they forget what our sikhi background is, and they just want to be more hindu. And with more and more sikh youth, indulging in activities such as drugs, girls, partying, being more hindu, and just modernistic rules. Is there a chance that we will ever achieve khalistan ? Because everyday I see pictures, of sikh universities, and public places, where sikhs-- are non-existent. And what I mean by that is clean-partially shaven fools, that are hard to tell apart from the hindu population. Which is basically breaking our saying of, a sikh is always distinguishable from the "normal" people. Just today I was reading news about sikhs watching hindu movies, and people making malls, and such, with the modernization , will people ever want to have a slight change, byt contributing their time to even supporting the khalistan idea, and with the indian government portraying everyone who asks for khalistan as terrorists , mixed with the uneducated youth, is there a chance for khalistan to exist, or even the idea. Will people still be support of it This though has been bothering me for some time now, why, just why, do we want to become like the rest of the hindu population, whyc are people willing to forget SIKHI, just to be like the rest of the hindu society, why do they forget, that the nation's founding "leaders" from teh very statrt called us a "criminal tribe" and must be dealth with appropriately. Why is it that people forget, that our leaders are ripping us apart, and that people were killed, and are still discrimated against. Just why.
