  1. so now your asking me who am i to tell you the same thing?

you made a comment supposedly knowing how or where i grow up.. so yes.. u have no idea what ur talking about... because u don't know anything about how i grew up... therefore i have every right to say that..

    thank you for being done...

now.. getting back to the topic...

there are certain times where discipline requires 'force'... for example... sometimes parents slap their kids for doin somethin shtyapid... and many times rightfully so...

but there's a bid difference between 'discipline by force' and forcing sum1 to believe what u believe, or do what u want them to do... the girl is 16 years old... we've all made mistakes, especially around that age... maybe not the same mistakes, but mistakes none-the-less...

they have no right to take her life away from her, just because they don't approve of wha she does.. jus the same as back in Guru Sahibs days, where muslims were forcing others to convert to their belief... they had no right to do that.. and our Gurus and other Gursikhs stood up AGAINST this OPPRESSION...

but... now, apparently some people think that this type of behaviour is acceptable all in the name of 'family honour'...

  2. so im guessing satwant singh and beant singh didnt use force ... im guessing they got 'rid' of her by telling her a realllly funny joke that made her laugh so much that she laughed herself to death or something?!

what does that have to do with anything? your comparing the attack on darbar sahib to a girl dating a guy.... there's NO logic or any common sense in comparing the two...

yes they DID use force... thats a fact...

you need stop tryin to twist my words around to suit ur own argument... this discussion is about a GIRL who dated a guy of another religion, and was about to be forced to marry ... it is not about gandhi attackin darbar sahib and killing thousands of innocent people... those are 2 COMPLETELY diff discussions...

the GIRL's decision only affects her... its HER life.. she did not put anybody else at risk.. she did not attack anybody else.. she did not threaten anybody else...

use some logic in ur arguments guyz..

  3. The tiger is the largest of the cats and is a perfect killing machine with a superior combination of power, stamina, cunning and agility.

both lions and tigers don't have a lot of stamina... about the same amount...

Myth 2: [The tiger hunts larger preys] The fact is, both these cats generally hunt similar sized preys (the size of wildebeast) and both these cats may go for larger preys once in a while.

Lions, normally, hunt larger prey - mostly due to their habitat that usually has bigger animals then that of tigers.

Myth 3: [The lion has more bite force] The fact is, pound for ponud, a tiger and a lion have similar bite forces. Though the studies show varying results, actually the tigers have a slightly higher bite force, but that’s accounted for by the extra weight.

Lions have a more powerful bite force according to this article.... buh, i dunno how reliable it is..

    http://en.allexperts.com/q/Wild-Animals-70...-Bite-Force.htm

also, lions normally have a more powerful strike, but tigers have a quicker one...

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1...632&q=tiger

thats another one... lioness vs tigress... overall lioness wins.. but the tigress got one nice thappar in at the end... but the tigresses face is bleeding.. she keeps tryin to run away.. buh the lioness keeps pullin her back.. haha..

on a totally diff note... THIS is amazgin... http://www.veoh.com/videos/e129685eAbBy2Pd

  4. again.. ur jus talkin jibberish now...

you admit your guru ji' son, ok, well wouldnt that make you part of the family?

ur going on a next tangent... Yes, Guru Sahib is my eternal Father... but this whole thread is talking about 'bloodline' family... i.e. mother, father, brother, sister, uncle, etc...

so your family doesnt follow sikhy becasue.....? and is that a good thing?

because they're not educated about it or do not choose to follow it... their FREE WILL... and when did I say it was a good thing? in FACT.. if u wanna go there, them not following sikhi is 'defaming MY family honour' (my Guru)... and i'm sure u have family that don't follow Sikhi.. so.. by ur 'logic' u shud go kidnap them and force them to follow sikhi... because they're dishonouring your 'family'...

so our guru ji tought us to have these sorts of relation ships? and do these sorts of things?

    and... i said that, where?

and about that free will crap, if you have free will go do wrong, then guess what, others have free will to kick your <admin-profanity filter activated>.

yes.. they have the free will to try :D and i have the free will to defend :s

A persons actions contribute to the consequences. Just becasue people have free will doesnt mean there allowed to do what ever the hell they want.

thats true... but, unfortunately, people use their free will to follow their own minds desires... i'm sure u do/say/think things that our Guru tells us not to, as well... as do i, as do 99.9% of the people on this earth..

Thats like saying "oh yea indra ghandi had free will to attack harminder sahib", yea fine, and then that would mean that " satwant singh and party, had free will to get rid of her".

yes... she did have the choice of attackin .. and she did... and they had the choice of gettin rid of her.. and they did.... whats ur point? i already mentioned, some people use their free will for good, and some for bad...

if you can do wrong, why cant others stop the wrong doers? or atleast make efforts towards it?

yes... we shud help/educate those doing wrong... but by no means shud 'force' be used... we can not control anybody.. we can't make people do what we want, or believe what we want, or think what we want...

  5. who cares about family honour? are you serious?

we call ourselves the sons and daughters of Guru Gobind Singh ji, and then we ask questions like that^^^

what the hell is wrong with our damn conscience's people??

there is no such thing as "right" when you go against your dharam.

we grow up in foreign countires and all we cry about is our right to do this, and our right to do that....blah blah blah. "oh were have the right to express oursleves" "oh we have the right to marry who ever we like" "oh oh oh".......thats a bunch of b.s.

when you do such things that put stain on your dharam, you lose your every "right".

yes i am serious... what does this case or 'family honour' have anything to do with being a son of Guru Gobind Singh Jee??? my 'family honour' has NOTHING to do with Guru Sahib.. the vast majority of my family aren't even following sikhs... so how does me maintaining my 'family honour' affect me being a son of Guru Gobind Singh Jee??

u have no clue what ur talking about.. we all have a right... we all have free will.. the choice to do 'right' or 'wrong'... even if people do wrong.. thats' their choice.. thats their will to do wrong... we are NOBODY to take their will away from them...

  6. family honour?? who cares about family honour?? they have NO right to force her to do something against her will, especially marry sum1... she's 16 years old... yes SHE WAS WRONG... but SO WERE THEY... 2 wrongs don't make a right.. it doesn't matter if it was her parents, her family... they are nobody to forcefully take her life away from her, and make her marry someone... they have NO right to take her free will away from her... that is called OPPRESSION... this so called 'family honour' is the root cause of MANY problems within the Indian, and Sikh community...

  7. wasn't dowry ORIGINALLY meant to be from the Mans side to the womans??? It was supposed to be only for the woman, and nobody else had any merit to it. It was given in case something happened to the husband (i.e. died in war or anything else), so the woman would have some money and things to maintain herself (as back then, women didn't work).

How did it change hands? when did it become that dowry was given to the mans family, instead of the womans??

  8. Realize, that NONE of the 10 Forms of Guru Nanak did anything differently. 1st Jot and 10th Jot were one and the same. Guru Nanak Dev Jee Kept the same outward rehat (kesi, kirpaan etc.. etc..) as Guru Gobind Singh Jee.

In the first post, read the shabad over and over and over again. Do some in depth vichaar on the shabad, and see how Guru Sahib is talking metaphorically.

  9. I just wear a smaller kirpan normally around my body on a gatraa (one that I don't wear on the regular), and once i'm done doing ishnaan i switch my kirpaans and take the wet kirpaan out of the sheath and whipe it dry so it doesn't rust.... but i don't put it back in the sheath right away, because the inside has to dry too.. so i just set it on a clean spot on my table and let it dry...

some people I know wear a steel Kirpaan durin kesi ishnaan so it doesn't rust...

  10. When a asian kills his wife for cheating its called honour killing, when a white person does it it goes unnoticed

The sad truth is, to a lot of Indian Families they ARE perceived as "honour killings". This type of stuff is not nearly as common in other communities as it is in Indian communities.

  11. I disagree with that. So does she not think gurbaaNee or naam is just as powerful? Its on the discretion of the punj pyaare if they give you choola when you pesh or take amrit again. You shouldn't say it can CRACK your soul, amrit has nothing but good side effects, saying amrit has negative side effects she has definately not understood its potential.

Singh, I don't think she was saying Amrit can have negative affects.. I THINK the point of that post was sayin if people continue to 're-take' Amrit over and over again for small things (not saying this is or is not a small thing - just saying in general), they might lose the real importance of Amrit, and can 'lose its significance' so to speak..

I think when she said 'must clean our souls wit Amrit everyday' she was talkin about with Naam and Banee -- "Bhareai Mat Papaa Kai Sang, Oh Dhopai Navai Kai Rang".

  12. no body in this thread, has mentioned the real reason for cold water showers, and why we should take them,

yeah.. pheena ji did... i did...

in response to talikhaak veerjee... personally, i don't wash my hair everyday... i have very LONG and THICK hair... n it wud take forever to dry.. i don't use a blowdryer as it damages the hair.. (yes, i'm very particular about my hair tongue.gif ) so for me i's nah practical to wash my hair everyday... i dun like my hair to be wet all day, head gets itchy...

newhoo... also, for those who say 'gursikhs in history all did kold ishnaan' etc.. etc.. also realize, they din really have much of a choice... like sum1 said earlier.. gotta be 'tyar bar tyar' - it wud take way too much time to heat up water for everybody in the mornin... they din have access to hot wanter tanks like we do, where we can jus turn the nob and hot water comes out..

so.. again.. i's about practicality... cold water wakes ur body up.. wakes ur mind up... i's that simple.. which is why it wud be beneficial to take cold ishnaan in the morning, for amrit vela...

    Vaheguruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :s
