Here is my list of current problems we face as a kaum.

    •  Traveling around giving aid / langar to non-sikhs. This thought was put into Sikh psyche as a strategy to destroy Sikhs from within by the enemy who wanted to move Sikhs away from position of strength to weakness. Guru ka langar never went around the world helping non-sikhs like this. Guru Ka langar was based on giving langar to the local sangat community. However was the non-sikh poor masses who came to the Sikhs and gurdwara's to get langar and get parchar to convert to Sikhi that made non-sikhs want to be a Sikh. This current innovation which has been created and run by idiots and is wasting sangats money giving langar away for free with no benefits for the kaum. The biggest gift a Sikh can give to a non-sikh is parchar because by that parchar the Sikh too will have to reform their character to live by what they preach.
    • Not having well armed sewadaar guards of Gurdwara's. Safety and security of guru's house and his congregation should be paramount yet what do we see today? any afghan ahmed abdali, isis salafi muhammad musin, mughal aurangzeb can walk in and kill without any hindrance like we seen recently. What is the fall out? Sikhs will stop coming to gurdwara's and thus gurdwara commitee's lose income and gurdwara shuts down eventually. The non-muslim hating conquest loving isis type jihadi mullah nutjob wins as sikhi is seen as weak and finished eventually because gurdwara's are no longer safe spaces for people wanting to worship and congregate.
    •  Sikhs of sarbat da bhulla mindset. Well meaning humanitarian liberal Sikhs but very gullible very politically and religiously naive not understand the full context of meaning of sarabat da bhalla and when to apply it. perhaps most of them have a sort of stockholm sydromme imprisoned by cultures and ideologies that are against Sikh interests and prevent their own community to survive.
    • Fake Sikh puppet leaders. They are only in it for their own power, fame/popularity contest or financial gain (eg recent akal takht jathedhars, sgpc leaders, DT harnaam singh, Badal dal, congressi captain amrinder singh, etc). We need to support leaders who openly fight for the interests of Sikhs without being shy about it.
    • Not having our own sovereign state nation. To conduct our own economic, military, religious and political affairs is the very reason we have so many problems. But its not necessary for the community to survive and thrive if other problems are dealt with.
    • Inter-faith marriages and lack of promotion of inter-caste or inter-race Sikh marriages. Sikhs should activity promote inter-caste marriages within punjabis at the very least and help promote those non-sikhs to convert to Sikhi to marry someone within the faith.

    Biggest threat and problems

Alcohol/ addiction both in UK and india

Sikh caste division. Sikhs unable to be a single strong community. As we are to divided.

Lack of strong leaders to steer faith in right direction.

Sikhs becoming lost losing their faith

Intermarriages. To many Sikhs wishing they were white.

  2. Selfless Sikh volunteers set up a free food home delivery service

Help for people self-isolating during coronavirus crisis

    •  A group of Sikh volunteers have established a coronavirus food delivery service
    •  They will deliver free food to self-isolated people around south-east Melbourne
    • Heroes worked with business owners to provide free food during bushfire crisis
    • Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

A group of Sikh volunteers have started a free home delivery service amid the coronavirus crisis.

The volunteers announced that they would be delivering free food to self-isolated people in Melbourne’s south-east for the next two weeks.

One of the charity’s founders, Jaswinder Singh, said they were expecting 300 orders for their first round of deliveries tonight.

The non-profit organisation was founded in 2017 and has a team of 103 members who work regular jobs alongside their volunteering.

‘We provide free food normally for suburbs in the area twice a week. Last time we extended our regular service for the bushfires and we’re doing it again now for the virus,’ Mr Singh explained.

He said that the Facebook notice for the service had amassed over 200 orders since it was posted yesterday.

‘Some of those ordering are sick or disabled and we have had a few messages from people who are stressed and have quarantined themselves,’ Mr Singh said.

Mr Singh noted the service provided vegetarian food and that customers could ‘decide whatever they need from the menu on our Facebook page.’

The Facebook advertisement said that deliveries would be made between 6pm and 8pm and that orders must be placed by 12pm.

‘Some of those ordering are sick or disabled and we have had a few messages from people who are stressed and have quarantined themselves,’ Mr Signh said.

The Sikh volunteers are already renowned in the community for their selfless actions co-operating with a local business owner during the bushfire crisis in Victoria.

Mr Singh said the volunteer group worked alongside a Sikh couple who owned an Indian restaurant, Kanwaljit Singh and his wife Kamaljit Kaur, to provide free meals to impacted people.

‘We went down to Bairnsdale the first day and as we didn’t have established site they give us their restaurant backyard,’ he explained.

The Sikh volunteer group then handed out thousands of curry and rice dishes to Victorians who were living in temporary shelters.

Grateful community members shared their praise for the services provided by the group.

One person wrote: ‘They are such amazing people these Sikh volunteers! Thank-you for all you do for others.’

‘Great kindness in troubled times from wonderful people. Thank you,’ said another.

Don't be fooled by these two puppets that are just there for show. These two may look like in charge but they are just yes people.

Ie they take all the orders and make new legislation which is determined by other people to make the government look more inclusive.

These token brownies can be disposed of as quickly as they came in. Look at savid javid. We had so many on this forum. Saying how savid javid is going to take over. And they whole government will be brown now.

He went in a flash as soon as his curry smell got to strong for the white elitist MPs who run government.

Brown and black MPs are just their for show. They are also hand picked. Ie they have to be the white coconutised people that love to brown nose the white man.

Savid left and so did that Muslim baroness wazi or whatever her name is.

So basically I wasn't expecting a scene in our home today noon but it did happen.

My mom wasn't feeling well today , and the little kid keeps my wife busy other times , but he was sleeping. So my wife made some food.

When I asked if the food was done, she said "yes, but don't criticize it please . I have been in kitchen for 'n' hours now doing cookking"

I honestly started losing my temparament . I mean can she not even do this much ! Do I have no right to criticize the food she made. what if its tasteless. I mean my dad has criticized and got dishes made from mom for long.

As I started eating and saying as to why I cannot criticize the food she made. Thats the only thing she handles right now , if at all. My dad said I should not criticize too much and that made me fuming because here's the man who always got things made from mom. So I started shouting on him as well. Mom immediately came to my rescue and started shouting at dad. Then mom's outburst came at my wife saying why she can't handle criticism of food . Then past issues suddenly came into arguments. My wife has a habit of arguing.

I told her its her duty to make wholesome, tasty food for her husband (me). Thats the least a husband expects from wife. I also said if she can't do that I will start eating in restaurants. All this discussions happened in front of entire family. I was crying a little.

Honestly though, I deserve good food with a wife. What's wrong in this ? I know toxic feminists will say your housewife isn't a domestic thing, I would like to tell them then I ain't an ATM either. I never b*tched about having to earn for her.

Alot of negativity and fighting from wife's can actually stem from other issues. Ie she may feel like she is an outsider. She resents the fact that she gets alot of criticism from her in-laws.

Basically she is taking out all her anger and emotions out on you. She knows she can't do it to anyone else. So your the only guy where she gets to vent some Steem.

    Issues

She sounds like she is very touchy and easily angered by the slightest negative comment.

If you tell her she is not doing something right she takes it as a personal attack. When she should just do what your family does. Ie a certain way of cooking. Or a certain way of cleaning. She needs to adjust to your household ways.

Sadly alot of women from back home are quite stubborn and want to do things their way. And if you ask nicely if they can change their methods. They get aggressive won't corporate like a reasonable person.

Many also talk in a disrespectful way. I don't know if this is a cultural thing. But many women from back home are are plains rude.

It's an extremely clever tactic to get you - the reader - to swallow the narrative that they want you to swallow....i.e. the myth that jagsaw-puzzled -singh deserves to be banned because jagsaw-puzzled-singh abuses everyone. They understand well that the nature of a whole post can change completely just be adding the word 'Deleted'. It's up to you whether you want to accept it or reject it. Doesn't matter to me in the slightest.

Well it seems like you made a personal attack. Which was rightfully removed by the admin team. Well done to them .

I don't think the admins have an agenda against anyone on here. They are fair and can edit anyone's post from time to time if they cross the line. It has happened to many posters.

So don't think they just target you.  But back to my point. All NHS staff are doing and amazing job. Wether they be Sikh, not religious or of any faith. They are risking their life's to help others and should be praised.

Where is your uncle based? What is this fertiliser machine?

East london in beckton. Not sure how the machine works. but he said it helps his soil and plants grow better.  creates a compost with all the food matter waste such as  potato/veg peelings. Might give it a go as will come in handy if we have food shortages.

  7. As I mentioned in the begiing of this topic. there is so much on not getting coronvirus but hardly any info from the bbc on how to keep health diet incase we contact the virus to fight it off. low and behold bbc answers my question in this news article a few days ago. finnaly we actually get some decent advice on how to boost our general health incase we get the virus and have to fight it off.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52076856

People should prepare to fight coronavirus like they would prepare for surgery by staying fit and healthy, say medics.

Experts at the Centre for Perioperative Care (CPOC) say a healthy diet will reduce the risk of becoming severely ill with the virus.

They say people should exercise, have alcohol-free days and quit smoking.

Such measures could make it less likely they'd be admitted to intensive care, says CPOC.

Its deputy director Scarlett McNally, a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, said there has been "a lot of very important advice" on how to cut the risk of becoming infected.

But there was "little on the importance of preparing in case the virus is contracted", she added.

CPOC is encouraging people to take brisk exercise, stop smoking, maintain good nutrition and mental health and have alcohol free days to reduce their chances of becoming severely ill from the virus and over-burdening the NHS.

People are also being urged to take action now to cut the risk of developing other health problems which could put further strain on the NHS.

Mrs McNally said people - especially those in a 'vulnerable high-risk group' - should be taking exercise, "so that if they catch the virus, they are less likely to need intensive care".

CPOC, an initiative based at the Royal College of Anaesthetists, involves medics from different specialisms working together on how they can improve the care and outcomes of patients having surgery.

Mrs McNally says its Fitter, Better, Sooner advice aimed at preparing patients for operations is "immediately applicable to Covid-19 infection".

She said: "We have good data showing that people who are prepared for an operation have better outcomes. Results are quick."

Experts in China, where the virus originated, "found less fit people with medical conditions were five times more likely to have a worse outcome from Covid-19; and smokers three times more likely to have this result", she added.

Prof Chris Whitty, the UK government's chief medical adviser, has previously warned smoking is "an additional vulnerability" for healthy people, and said now would be a "very good moment" for people to quit.

People are permitted to leave their homes to exercise once per day, either alone or with members of their household, under the government's current social distancing rules.

    What is CPOC's advice?

    • Stop smoking
    • Take exercise unless you are unwell with the virus: ideally a brisk walk, cycle or jog. Strengthening and balance exercises are also recommended
    • Those aged over 70 - considered to be at increased risk of severe illness from the virus - are allowed outside, unless they have been otherwise advised, and should keep two metres from others and not touch anything
    • Maintain a good diet, including trying smaller portion sizes and planning ahead for meals
    • Maintain your mental health, including getting a good night's sleep
    • Have alcohol-free days
  8. How to deal with coronavirus from a Sikh perspective. What does the SGGS say about viruses and plagues. This is a time where we have to show solidarity and help the sick and vulnerable member of our society. Its a time when we have to help poor neignbours who are maybe not as fortunate as us to have the captial to buy in bulk and ride out their storm in their houses.

Surely we should not praise our own faith people only.

How would you feel if a Christian said that he praised all the Christians for their hard work?

Jesus life, sayings and doings are in the Gospels, which were written by Mathew, Luke etc who were the apostals of Jesus. I havent readm much of the Gospels, but if we go by them then Jesus was a peaceful man. He questioned the authority of the Jewish high  priests and their claim to priesthood. He also was very vocal against how the Jewish priests had turned the temple into a business by setting up stalls selling chickens and money lenders etc, he actually flipped the tables and set the chickens free and said that the priests have no right to turn his fathers(Gods) temple into a business.  It was these acts that got him into trouble.

Jesus also claimed to be the messiah or the savior but also claimed to be the son of God. Jews saw this a blasphemy. The Jews rejected Jesus as the Messiah and called his miracles black magic.

Jesus was very popular among the downtrodden of society, the poor, lepers, widows, prostitutes etc.

Theres a famous story of how the Jewish priests were going to stone a prostitute to death for committing sexual sin,  a punishment that muslims later adopted. Jesus stepped forward and said to the jewish priests those who are without sin to cast the first stone, meaning the whichever priest standing there that is free of sin himself should throw the first stone at the prostitute. All the jewish priest dropped there stones and walked off.  He was very vocal about the hypocrisy among the priests.

Nowhere does jesus ask his men to carry out murder or rape women or anything like that. In fact he said turn the other cheek, which means if som1 hits you dont retaliate.

Fights started breaking out between the Orthodox Jews and the Jews that were now following jesus and saw him as messiah. The priests were happy about his growing influence and unrest started spreading everywhere.

The jewish priests then got Jesus done for blasphemy and asked the Roman general to crucify Jesus. That region of the world was ruled by the Roman empire at the time, and the Romans didnt want any riots. The Jewish priests then told the Roman general that Jesus was the cause of all the unrest and that he should get crucified and out of the way. Jesus was then crucified.

Main problem with Christianity is that Jesus never wrote the Gospels. Many Gosepls existed and the early Christians were basically Jews. It was very unclear among hem who Jesus was and what his message was and what a Christian should believe or practice. Early Christians like the desert fathers were mystics, Gnostic Gospels popped up and they were very mystical in nature. Early Christians would write about things like inner struggle between their vices and soul. They would venture into the desert to meditate etc. During the meeting of nicea it was decided what Christianity is and who Jesus is. Its during this meeting that the Church fathers dumped the Gnostic teachings and Gospels and accepted the 4 current Gospels as the authentic Gospels. What ever writings they did not agree with were removed. Its at this meeting that they came to the conclusion that Jesus is God as well as the son of God. This meeting changed Christianity and gave it its own identity. B4 this Christians were basically Jewish in practice and custom.

St Paul played a huge part in shaping Christian theology. He decided that Christians dnt need to get circumcised, keep Jewish fasting etc  I think he also was the one that created the trinity.   Muslims traditionally see him as the one who altered the original Gospel which they believe was sent Allah.  St Paul basically created Christianity.

So you can see very little is known about the real Jesus, the whole religion was created and shaped much later, Jesus never created a religion.

There's nothing wrong with Jesus. And there's nothing wrong with being a Christian. Show some respect for other faiths.

We as Sikhs may not agree with other religions. But we are taught to respect others beliefs.

I wasn't necessarily refering exclusively to stockpiling (done responsibly in times of "plenty" it's not a bad idea), but it's certainly one small part of it. Even now I'm planning for the possibility of civil unrest; criminals on the streets breaking into people's homes to steal supplies, etc. It's probably unlikely but not entirely impossible. I was thinking of fitting shutters to protect my doors and windows, and buying a generator as a worse case scenario, too. It may seem overkill, but you just don't know. If I had an excess of money, which I don't at the moment because I was in the middle of doing up my house, I'd have seriously considered building something underground, but that's verging on zombie apocalypse, lmao. ? I would never wait for an official government agency for advice or the go-ahead. We need to understand they don't give a flip about us despite their words. Protect and provide for your family and your home, because 999 just isn't going to cut it when things go pear shaped.

You seem like the  type that would buy a deep diving suit if they mentioned there was a slightest chance of a flood in london. A type of person that is so sceptical of the goverment that he spends all day thinking of ways to survive catastrophes that would never likely to happen.  but each to their own..  better be safe then sorry I guess.

For minimum wage they selflessly put themselves at even greater risk than the doctors and nurses because, Unlike the medics, they are given no in-depth training nor provided with scrubs to wear, fit-tested for masks or given enhanced protective visors and masks.

With the exception of New York City what's happening in north america is like child's play compared to the dire situation here in the UK and the rest of Europe. 15. Maybe that is why India are doing better with the coronavirus infection rate compared to other countries touchwood. because we eat so much ginger and haldi in our food. Forget about spending billions on a vacine lets all start eat more ginger and haldi.

On a serious note I noticed having vitaminc c foods reallys helps with my cold recoverys. If I ever get a cold first thing I do is start eating more oranges its always helped me get over the cold a lot quicker in th past.

I'm just surprised at the effectiveness of fear. In some ways it produces ingenuity, in others it seems to produce the desired effect of unquestioning compliance. One thing that's struck me about the society we live in since this has emerged is how dependent we are on so many essential external "things" that are ultimately out of our control. That's a recipe for disaster, and it's a real eye opener. If there is a recovery from this and a return to the normalcy we once knew, I know I'll be actively preparing for the next time something like happens, because I can guarantee when it does happen again, it will be much more intense and fast moving. You just know that there's a department of behavioural scientists sitting in an office somewhere in GCHQ making notes for the past few weeks on every facet of the public's reaction to this. Next time, the issues that are now proving to be difficult to control or contain will be mitigated and accounted for.

The funny thing is the guy across my road only just a couple of months before the whole coronvirus happaned. Stock piled on toliet paper and all the essentials. I asked him why he was bulk buying.  He said it was because of brexit and said there will be shortages if the economy goes down the pan. At the time I laughed and thought he was over reacting. Turns out his bulk buying came in handy not due to the brexit but because of coronavirus.

I need to pop round his house next time I see him to borrow some toliet paper. he's got a room full of it.lol

But I have not seen his face since the coronavirus. Looks like he is gone in to hiding or qaurantine.  He is a ex teacher and quite elderely so he probably has experience of these kind of things.  ie from his parents in the war. rationing.

Todays Sikhs are sitting ducks murdered by those who hate them and oppressed into not defending themselves with political correct handcuffs placed on them by fellow Sikhs and outsiders.

Just like other minorities.

  19. The government doesnt really seem to be giving out any useful information about how to treat coronavirus.

But most crucially they don't seem to be giving advice on how to boost our immune systems to help us stop catching it in the first place. Or even helping us fight it off if we have it.

It's well known that fighting off and boosting our immune system is crucial when recovering from common colds similar to Corona.

We should all be making sure are immune system and general health is good. This starts with excercise and good diet.

Citrus fruits, lemons and brocolli bell peppers are great for our immune systems. Yet how many people have no idea and will instead following some old wife's tale and eating ginger and rubbing haldi on their noses in their efforts to stave on Corona.

  20. My latest thoughts on the coronavirus situation.

What is happening with this lockdown is a once in a lifetime event. Work places and schools shut. All stores closed. Gyms banks literally everything we took for granted all closed.

This has never happened before and everyone is slowly starting to adjust. We all now to do our bit and stay at home. If we continue to go out we risk catching and most crucially spreading it. Which is very easily done. Even if we maybe able to fight off the infection ourselves vulnerable people cannot.

It's going to test relationships and marriages. Usually we only spend limited time together in the house with out relatives and spouses due to being out most of the time at work or socialing. But now we are going to be together 24/7 for about a 4 month period or even longer time depending on the viruses spread. This is inevitably going to causes family relationship strains/arguments.

It's already been noted that in China the divorce rate has seen a huge spike upwards. Due to couples couped up together in the lockdowns.

My advice to everyone is keep busy even at home. Get back to nature. I'm presuming parks and nature spots are gonna be full as that is the only places people can go to get fresh air and out of the house.

People who have gardens and outside place near home are going to be lucky. It's people living in flats with no garden are gonna be the ones that suffer.

The rich and wealthy with second homes are going to be escaping to the country sides and go on a prelonged holiday. Which I think is a positive for some who have over worked and need a break.

I might also escape to countryside area in an isolated spot to get back in touch with nature seeing as we can't work or do anything else.

I was speaking to a Sikh guy a few years younger than me who has a wife and two young kids. They'd undergone the Punjab > Italy > UK migration route that's proven to be very popular for the past years. They've been in the UK for a few years. The conversation started off as a discussion on house prices, then he starts grumbling about his wife always wanting to go into town on Saturdays and Sundays, meaning spending money for things they don't actually need in places like Primark, etc.

I didn't realise Punjabi migrants were entitled to benefits when the husband is working full time. Apparently, the UK govt gives these families £600 per kid, which works out at £1200 per month for a family with two children. The wife gets some money per week but he didn't mention how much.

The hilarious / worrying thing is that these migrants also claim 500 euros per month from the Italians, which is why the women jump on an EasyJet or RyanAir flight with the kids every four weeks, and return to Italy to claim their cash, then return on a Monday evening. Now, these families are placing deposits on new-build homes because they have the money from benefits to do so.

I was shocked. I can't believe there's money being handed out like this for what? Having never got one penny from the govt even the many years I was out of action, I don't understand it, lol. When some white folk kick off about immigrants getting benefits and priority housing I use to think it was typical racism, but it's obviously not the case. £1200 for sitting on their ar5e, watching PTC, and wandering around a shopping centre. F*** that!

In terms of Corona, now the borders are being closed, the monthly Italian scam will come to an end, because they won't be able to visit Italy.

Could you just be jealous of these immigrants I wonder? Ie getting on the property ladder and they have a wife and kids, family. Have it all on the plate and doing well in life. While you still get no replies from the lonely hearts advert you've had for the last year and still can't get a mortgage.

While new commmers have progressed further.
