  1. <<<<I'm talking about Bana, NOT about men wrestling topless.>>>>

yes i know, but with your logic 'boys dont have to wear pyjami so why do bibia have to wear them'

then should we say men did this.. so should women do that....

i am not going to discuss this no more with you. if you are going to make points you should be prepared to listen to the other side. i know there are two sides, i was merely expressing my veiws.

    nothing more to say.

    vahigurujikakhalsa vahigurujikifateh.

  2. I don't think its a big deal if bibia don't wear pyjami underneath their baana. The only reason people say this is due to lust. If everyone was bhramgyanis; both men and women, they wouldn't say its a must for bibia to wear pyjami because they will be free of lust and will see the light of God in all. Guru Ji did NOT make this a rehit, so no one can say its a must. If Bibia wear bana without pyjami they are covered enough; we are not muslims.

    no. bibia must wear pyjami.

you cant say oh singhs dont wear pyjami, so bibia dont have to wear them.

in guru jees time, the singhs used to wrestle topless, shud bibia do the same?

at smagams and that wen its really hot you see singhs walking around in their kachere and nothing else, is it ok for bibia to do the same? :)

    i think not.

do you really think worrying about if you should have to wear pyjami is gonna help you? why wouldnt you want to wear them? you yourself sed wear baana 24/7, in most countries pyjami is a must for singhs aswell because its so cold.

just do us a favour, keep your pyjami on bibi jee.

  3. erm if a sighni wanted to wear full bani, without leggings under long kashera? where does maryada stand on this?

I remember this being discussed on Tapoban (the old forum) - try running a search there.

hmmm bibia must wear pyjami underneath there baana.

to be honest i think people make out that wearing baana is a massive thing, and something which must be so hard to do, especially when going to work. and we all respect people who wear baana, blah blah lol. we as gursikhs must try to keep rehit, japp naam, recite gurbaani, respect others, try to control 5 theives etc, on a daily basis, this is hard work. its a constant battle. wearing baana is easy, compared to battling the mind.

i think wearing it to work is a must too, its great parchaar, so many goreh ask me questions and have a deep respect for me and my religion. its a reminder for me too, that as well as looking like a sikh, i need to act like a sikh.

    vahigurooo

baana is essential for sikhs to wear.

  4. im not married myself, so im probably not the best person to give out advice.

but before you start making decisions such as leaving her or getting people involved. The first thing you should do is talk to her. It maybe the most difficult option, but you have to just talk to her. Tell her about the photos, and hear her side. Do ardas that you are able to accept mahrajs sweet will. I know its probably gonna be really tough for you but dont forget you've got mahraj on your side. Its reallt sad that shes amritdhari and shes done this :) and youve got kids...... try and put there needs first. its horrible growing up when there so much tension between your parents.

sorry if ive said anything wrong, maybe you should contact older gursikhs from the tapoban forum.

  10. alot of amritdhari youths are in relationships to some "undercover" others not so much. Alot of sikhs that i have come across always seem to have in their minds you shouldn't go to clubs etc... because all you go for is to look and chat up members of the opposite sex ( some go to the extreme that you should avoid even talking to people of the opposite sex) but at the same time you have sikhs youth in they baanas etc.. going to kirtan programmes and rehansbhais ( which is good) but all they do is talk to girls and boys their maybe even "flirt" , whats the difference between someone going to a club and trying to find someone and someone who goes to a gurdwara and does it.

I find alot of people who wear dastaars and keep beards and maybe amritdhari to be really stuck up, they tend to stay away from people that may not be as into sikhi as them,

    paaji/penji

ok so there maybe SOME people who do them things you have stated, but so what. If they are doing these silly actions, what concern is it to you. this mentality of they do this so why cant we do this, seems rather silly. If they are doing wrong actions then they will be dealt with, in the meantime, you avoid the mistakes they make and try harder.

ok some people distance themselves from others due to appearance which is wrong. and we shouldnt have this mentality. however there are some people i know personally that prefer to just have sangat of gursikhs, but that doesnt mean they would ignore non sikh people.

at the end of the day were not perfect, us youth are constantly making mistakes and learning from them. Its a shame that people fail to pick out the good points that the youth do. Like i said dont worry about peoples bad actions and focus on your own actions.

sorry if ive said anything wrong.

yes alot of people are in the position were your parents dont always know best when it comes to marriage, in that case try get some older gursikhs to help. Or other family/friends. Its one of those things that will just happen, without you worrying too much about it.

  14. ohmy.gif woah great advice from heera paaji, lol.

you know what its up to you at the end of the day penji, no ones gona tell you wat to do. You might be all excited that its your wedding day, but dont loose sight of the significance of the anand kaaraj. Its about you commiting yourself to mahraj, its about you and your husband starting together, onto the path to mahraj. Do you usually get all dressed up everytime you go to the gurdwara? Do you put on your lengha and you jewelry? No? So why is this occasion any different, only difference is lots of people will be there. So then your dressing to impress them and your husband to be?

Dress to impress mahraj, dress simply. Ive never seen many amritdhari bibia wear the colour red, and i dont want to make a whole debate about it. But i think you should try and stick to the khalsa colours, red is just sooo..... ergh lol.

at the end of the day its you intentions, so have a good think about them, and see if ther in line with the gurmat way of life.

sorry if ive said anythink out of order.
