  3. I am a Sikh Male who cuts their hair. However a few years ago i was growing my hair so that i can have a joora and have the sikh identity. However, i came to the realization that just because you look like a sikh doesn't make you a sikh. Your identity is only limited to this physical world and once you die your hair, wealth and all worldy possessions stay here. I realized it is much more important to live by the gurus teachings and philosophies and understand them, than just looking like one. I realized that it would be better for a sikh to cut their hair but to live by the gurus teachings VS a sikh who hase gone through amrit but doesn't go by the gurus teachings.

    Just my 2 cents

I find that quite funny, you say its ok to cut your hair as long as your following guru jees teaching. BUT by cutting your hair you have already gone AGAINST guru jees teachings. I agree sikhi is on the inside AND outside. But to become pure inside we need to follow sikhi, we need to follow rehit, japp naam read baani etc. If your not even willing to keep your kesh, which is a must, and a hukam from guru jee, then how far can we really go?

Theres too much of this thinking, that only the inside needs to be pure, not the outside. This is wrong BOTH needs to be pure. Sikhi roop is important.

    Me:

    God:

Not many people express themselves that way.

    Me:

how would you like me to greet you then

    God:

Sure, I like you very much.

    Me:

    right...

    God:

    I am glad we agree.

    Me:

God why are your children always fighting?

    God:

    I am a Christian.

    Me:

Ok so thats why they fight?

    God:

Tell me more. Give me a break. Who are "They?" Come on.

    Me:

I just told you, you're children

    God:

Do you mind if I tell other people you say I am children.

    Me:

    hahaha ok then bye

    God:

See you later. OK. I am so glad you find this amusing, .

  5. Lol i think you can PM most members on here if you need some help/advice, they will be more than willing to help you out. But ultimately in these situations dont forget to turn to mahraj aswell. These are our tests, and most of the time we fail them :(

To live as Gurmukh is the lifestyle by which we come to meditate on the Supreme Lord. The Gurmukh sings the Kirtan of His Praises. ||8||

The Gurmukh is free of conflict and strife, and sees the One Lord, pervading everywhere.

The Gurmukh is immersed and absorbed in the Naam; Nanak meditates on the Naam. ||12||

I would say that a gurmukh is one who has conquered the five theives, a gurmukh follows everyone of the gurus teachings, and has no attactchement to wordly things. As baani also says, gurmukhs are rare. vahigurooo.

Being amritdhari is just the first step, i think becoming gurmukh is one of the final steps.

  7. ^^ Good Post.

    To the original poster;

The way i see it you've encountered some difficult times, and you think god was responsible and was 'punishing' you for some reason. And for this reason you know there is a God, you say you're scared of God?

Its mahrajs kirpaa that you have this desire to do seva and simran, its mahraj who is taking care of you, its mahraj who clothes you, feeds you, looks after you everyday, mahraj never forgets you, he would never punish you or cause you pain. We all go through hard times as a result of our karme, we all get down etc, but we have to pick oursleves up. Dont blame God, blame ourselves. Realise that mahraj is the only one who loves you truly. The more you continue to read mahrajs baani, you will develop piaar slowly.

If you dont want to do ardas, dont no ones forcing you. Ardas should come from your heart, not just mechanically. When you feel all these doubts etc, talk to mahraj. What ever answers you're looking for, you wont get them from here, only from God.

    You said: <<<if i love GOD so i shouldn't eat non veg.alcohol,smoke.cut hair.it' all symbol to show i don't love him>>

So your saying because you do these things it means you dont love God, or you do these things to show that you dont love God?

<<<lots of people don't need to do ARDAAS and SIMRAN+SEVA they have good life to live>>>

I beleive its not possible to have a ''good life'' without simran and seva. Like i said previously it seems like ur just going thru a bad path but dont blame mahraj and push him away, instead turn to God.

    Gurfateh jee

  8. You said you want to do simran but you dont love god?

I dont understand this, its not possible.

If someone wants to do simran surely they must feel something towrds god.

Let me ask you this, why do you do simran? Do you hope to acheive something or do you do it because you think it should be done?

  9. At the end of the day no amount of washing is going to get you anywhere.

According to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, one must wash oneself with spiritual wisdom - the Naam.

ok then lets not have ishnaan then anymore, because were not gonna get anywhere.

its about bein pure on the inside AND outside. we have to make sure our bosdy is clean before we do certain seva etc.

    http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=1152

of course whilst having our ishnaan, we are meant to be japping naam aswel.

  10. fateh sangat ji, is having a keshi ishnan at amritvela a rehit or are their any hukhamnameh for having one, Iv looked at damdami taksal rehit online and there is no mention, can anyone do some seva and shed some light??

also is their a specific time for ishnaan like before nitnem or after any one kind enough to giv daas some gian??

Its like sayin is there a rehitnama for sayin you must wash both arms for ur ishnaan, or can u just wash one :6

Hair is part of u, just like u wash the hair on ur legs and arms, u wash the hair on your head. Just because its longer, it dont matta. Full ishnaan including washing of the kesh should be done everyday.

Ishnaan should take place as soon as one wakes up, then seated naam simran and nitnem should be done.
