I'm not sure about BCU, but I think if you want to find out if a university is good or not, best place to look is at league tables. Also, it depends on which subject you want to study as different uni's are known to be good in different areas.

Aston is a good uni and it has a lot of sangat, so you wouldn't have to worry about that. I go to University of Birmingham and we have a good sikh society, usually hold events every week. We also hold events with BCU and Aston, and there is a lot of sangat around, but like someone has said in a previous post, there's more Indians at aston and BCU than birmingham uni. I think you should visit the unis on open days and see which one suits u the most hope tht helps.

I was just wondering if any1 knew whether i could download or listen to the kirtan online that comes on alpha etc punjabi in the evenings? The kirtan is from Harmandir Sahib and i just wanted to download some of it from 2days broadcast? ive tried lookin on the internet, maybe ive missed sumthin? thanks 4 the help in advance.

Im not trying to be funny or anythin and im sorry if i offend any1... but y do ppl make such a big deal about facial hair?!?! Im including boys nd girls into this as i think both make a big deal about it in sum way! I agree with 'akaal ustat's' post and all i wanna say is that keeping kesh is veryy veryy important!! BUT it is BASIC rehat... sumthin that every1 is meant 2 do! its not meant 2 be difficult or challenging! but i can obviously understand it is but if we can;t see past the exterior or what society wants, then were not goin 2 get very far in our sikhi! were falling at the first hurdle, how can we expect 2 reach guru jee in this life?! I no its difficult, but do ardas 2 guru jee and everythin will be sorted out 4 u cos if thres one thing thats goin to make u feel better about keeping ur hair, its ardas and kirpa from vaheguru... i jus thort id say what i was thinkin... i find it really disheartening that many bibiyaan/singhs see facial hair and keeping it as such a big issue... and i think some ppl (the minority) need 2 realise that thres more difficult things 2 achieve in a gursikhs jeevan and keeping ur hair should not be made 2 be such a massive deal! look at all the bibiyaan and shaheed singhs that gave up their lives in order to keep each and every one of their kesh in tact and were sat here whining about how ppl look us funny if we hav a bit of facial hair. let them look...its not a big deal! surely we hav enuff self confidence and self esteem 2 get past what society thinks of us cos at the end of the day, what scoiety thinks DOESN;T COUNT, what guru jee thinks of u does! sorry if i rambled on a bit, i jus always read these posts nd hav never posted anythin back but thort i shud this time...sorry if i hav said anythin 2 offend any1.

It is in memory of Sandeep Kaur who passed away at the age of 17, this young bibi had sweet speech and was very inspiring.

Although she was not yet amritdhari she wished to become so soon, however maharaj had given her the seva of showing to us...

Singhnia - lead by example....this is coming from a singhni that has facial hair.

Singhs - no offence but you guys need to sort yourselves out aswell - I know of so many singhs that mock those singhnia who has facial kes but forget that for a second, these so called singhs are going for non-dastar bibyan...I dnt know what the deal is with that. They seem to prefer the girl who ties her hair back, does her face up a little and has a bit of jewelery.

Oh well - anyway the overall msg I am trying to put across is lead by example to all those singhnia that do those dumb stuff - apae beejh apae hee kao. Please stop dissing the true singhnia cuz by doing wat you do, thats what you are doing. If you are not ready to keep ur kes on ur face then you are not ready to wear a dastar.
