Firstly, many congratulations on deciding to wear a dumalla. I am sure you will look great once you have mastered it.

Just to let you know, I remember when I first started trying to tie a dumalla many years back I didn't have anyone to show me and also found it impossible, now with Maharaj's kirpa I get many compliments on my dumalla. Just keep doing ardas and keep practicing.

Please let us know where you are from, if you are nearby I would be happy to personally show you how to tie a dumalla, if not I am sure that we can find someone near you who could show you. Also, maybe you could consider going to a camp such as Khalsa camp (www.khalsacamp.com/uk/) or Sikhi Camp (www.sikhicamp.org), where they hold workshops on how to tie dastaars, and you would also get to have some great sangat and learn alot.

Buy mal mal material, start with 3 yard keski (seeing as you are not going to tie a bunga,3 yards is enough to just wrap around the head) and a 5 yard dumalla to tie over the keski. You can later adjust length according to how many wraps you want.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Watch these two videos that show how to tie a bunga, keski and dumalla. If you dont feel the need to do a bunga, then just tie a keski straight over your head, as bhai sahib does over his bunga at 3:44 in the first video. Apart from these videos, there are many more on youtube if you just search "dumalla".

  2. I'm not sure what to make of this.. some scenes seem questionable, eg. 1:21 in the video where they seem to be showing some sort of religious ritual involving a man dressed as an amritdhari and deevay (lighted candles). I think we should keep a very close eye on this. Seeing as Sikhism is central to the plot I wonder if they have screened this to any Sikh organisation before release? Personally I do not get a good feel about any of it in relation to its portrayal of Sikhi and Sikhi saroop.

  3. He was saying that out gurus never showed this much power so why did baba ji.

Has your friend forgotten about this little incident? vik.jpg

Guru Sahib already cut off the heads of five gursikhs and actually brought them back to life, what is is for a real Singh of Dasmesh Patsha like Baba Deep Singh Ji to fight without his head?

As for why Baba Ji carried on even after his head was cut off, was that Baba Ji had promised Guru Maharaj before that he would place his head at guru sahib's charan at harmandar sahib, when baba ji's sees was separated from his body, I believe the body stopped moving as if dead, at which point a Singh fighting reminded Baba Ji of his promise, it was then that Baba Ji rose once more with his head on his hand, just as Satguru Ji's bachans in Gurbani: ਜਉ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਖੇਲਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥

    Ja▫o ṯa▫o parem kẖelaṇ kā cẖā▫o.

If you desire to play this game of love with Me,

    ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਿ ਤਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਉ ॥

Sir ḏẖar ṯalī galī merī ā▫o.

then step onto My Path with your head in hand. (Ang 1412). Baba Ji's actions were a testament to Satguru Ji's bani.

    Guru Sahib also says: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਸ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ॥

Parabẖ bẖāvai bin sās ṯe rākẖai.

If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life. (Ang 277)

  4. On sangat tv they sometimes show two keertan videos which I think are from the same smagam (sanjha smagam), one is bhai narinderjeet singh (bebe nanaki jatha)singing avoh sant miloh mere bhai +lots of simran and the other bhai amolak singh ji (australia), singing jo deesai gursikhaRa tis niv niv laago paye jeeo

If anyone has either of these, either video or audio please be so kind as to share them with me! thank you

  5. Come on man...

Please don't get the wrong idea, its not out of any feeling of superiority or anything like that. The abhiyas here will be done according to a certain technique which can only be taught by the panj pyare, if you someone doesn't have this technique attending will not really benefit them much as they will find themselves unable to join in with the sangat. Plus many of the Gursikhs have recieved a hukam from the panj pyare to only do naam abhiyas with those who have recieved this technique as well, people may not understand what the Gursikhs are doing and possibly start mocking or imitating them (some people do do this), also it is not right if people try to copy this technique from watching gursikhs doing it as only the panj pyare have the right to teach this. If anyone wants naam drir they can recieve it from the panj pyare that give it.

I didn't post for a debate, just letting everyone know about the event. Bhull chuk maaf.

  6. Gurfateh jeeo, please note weekly amritvela naam abhiyas is starting in east london (seven kings) this week. please either send me a personal message or email me at singhstah@hotmail.com for details if you have recieved naam drir.

give Me your head, and do not pay any attention to public opinion. ||20||

Ignore all of them, do ardas to guru ji to bless you with his kirpa and gursikhi jeevan. Also, where do you live? We can try to tell you where you can get in contact with gursikhs, stop socialising with the friends that made fun of you, hang out with Gursikhs, and they can also teach you how to tie a dastar. You could also go the gurdwara sahib and ask a giani ji to teach you, there are also videos teavhing how to tie the dastar online, just search in youtube or have a look here: http://www.sikhnet.com/pages/tyingturbans

  8. Great event, great speakers, hard to choose a favourite. Bhai Navreet Singh Ji's speech and Bhai Sukhbir Singh Ji's speeches are definitely there at the top of the list. Shame about the rain though! A couple of us resorted to hazoorias on our head lol.

Man It was really good, everyone kept stealing out placard, ok ok they helped us out because I didnt have enough time to put dandiya on the placards so had to hold the cardboards in our hands high up in the air. After 30 mins or so our arms would get tired. So It was really nice to see sikhs we didnt know just take the placard from us and keep it high. Overall it was really inspiring, there were only 5 of us who drove from our small town, no coaches like other towns. So we are already planning for the next one.

There was one thing though, a lot of the speeches were in Punjabi so I think that needs to change. Otherwise amazing event, great turnout but it was my first so cant say whether it was more or less than last time. Someone recognised me, she goes he is from sikhsangat.com ;) I cant believe no one came and said fateh. I think that needs to change.

Did anyone see our placard (the one attached). We even had our placard on the big screen.happyjumper.gif

Also, omggggg saaagggggggg, Saagg was the best I ever tasted and it became even better when we mixed pakores in it. omg its one of those once in a life time tasty moment.

I saw the placards, me and an other singh wanted to try to come up to you in hyde park, we got close but then there was too much sangat in the way lol.

  9. VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh Singh Sahib jeeo,

Firstly, please do ardas to maharaj to stop and take a hukamnama, this is the driving force behind all good coming into your life. Try to understand and follow what it says.

Secondly, its an absolute MUST to stop hanging around with those who drink and follow a non gursikhi lifestyle. This is Guru Sahibs HUKAM:

MANMUKH SETI DOSTI, THORIRIYAAN DIN CHAAR||

(Friendship with Manmukhs last only few days. It is not permanent)

ISS PREETI TUTDEE VILAM NA HOVAYEE, ITT DOSTI CHALAN VIKAAR||

(It does not take long for the love bond with Manmukh to break. Friendship with Manmukh triggers bad habits and sins i.e. bikaar)

JINAAN ANDAR SACHE KA BHAO NAAHI, NAAM NA KAREH PYAAR||

(Ones who don’t have fear for Vaheguru and ones who don’t have love for Naam)

NANAK, TINN SIYON KYA KEECHAI DOSTI, JE AAP BHULAAYE KARTAR||

(Guru Nanak Sahib says, what is the point in doing friendship with such people – as described in the pankiti above – who have been misled on the wrong path by Vaheguru, due to their bad karams) (Ang 587)

Instead of these kinds of people you should hang out with Gursikhs who are dedicated to Sikhi and instead of giving you bad habits will spread some of their good on to you. At the end of the day the mates you have now only care about the good time they can get out of you now, they don't care about when you're going to be having the crap kicked out of you by the jamdoots, partly because when its that time they'll be busy having the same done to them.

On the other hand sangat of Gursikhs now is in itself baikunth (heaven), can you imagine the benefit it will have for you in the afterlife?

Its very simple what needs to be done, the first is ardas and hukamnama and secondly changing your sangat. And choose wisely, even so called Gursikhs in bana can be just as bad an influence, just in a different way. You need to find sincere Gursikhs who are attached to Guru Sahib's feet (Naam and bani).

I am just a keera, but please feel free to message me.

  10. The ironic thing is that the protest was held because a Gurdwara associated property was not being respected due to meat and alcohol.

Yet the very same building was vandalised by the protesters.

Where was the respect then? :unsure2:

Respecting the property? We are not hindus that worship stone, it was about respect for Guru Sahib. In 1986 Sikhs even demolished the Sarkari Takht made in place of the Akaal Takth, there is nothing sacred about a building, least of all one made for booze ups.

  11. Having watched the footage on Sikh Channel all I have to say is shame on you Dudley Committee for causing this to happen. I don't understand how you can sit inside eating meat and drinking alcohol while Guru Gobind Singh Ji's children are doing simran on the floor outside. I don't understand how can you have no problem with causing the children of Dashmesh Pita to be beaten by the police. I don't understand how you can spit in the face of your Guru.

How do you sleep at night?
